My sister was really sick for a few days about 3 weeks ago. Was feeling fine in the morning, suddenly felt like shit. No respiratory problems though - just a bad headache and weakness.
She's a nurse and has wondered if it was corona. She thinks probably not, since she went back to work 5 days after getting sick and nobody in her department got sick. I didn't catch her bug either.
Remember, corona isn't the only virus around. There are weird things floating around every year. And people say they have the "flu" when they don't have the flu. If it's intestinal, it's not the flu.

I'm not a doctor, and I've never played one of television, but I'd say this virus really does affect everyone differently. Sure, common symptoms, but I suspect those with any kind of auto-immune troubles, or any family history of auto-immune disease, are gonna get hit harder than others, and their experiences might not follow the usual pattern or timeline of symptoms.
1. First sign of trouble was waking up one morning and suddenly having pain in both wrists and ankles. I've never experienced anything like that before. Maybe best described as a rheumatoid arthritis flare up. RA does run in my mother's family, so maybe there's a connection. My brother had gout troubles in college, but he was a bigger guy. I've had two big toe flares up in my lifetime, and the pain was gone within six hours both times.
2. Woke up day two with neck glands swollen and hard. I used to get strep throat and short term mononucleosis every spring in middle school and junior high, so I know what glands should and shouldn't feel like. This isn't mono though. No huge wave of fatigue, major sore throat, or sinus involvement. Just swollen glands.
3. Day three was underarm glands, slight fever, general but faint soreness and aches, center of chest pain at the end of deep breaths, quick to sweat during simple physical activity like walking, etc.
4. Woke up day four with another sore joint experience, lungs feeling a tiny bit "wet" all day, dull pain in center of chest but not too painful, mental fogginess, some fatigue.
5. Similar to day four, but neck glands a little worse.
Anyways, from everything I've read online, I guess the next seven days will tilt me towards feeling better, or going to the hospital for meds. I haven't experienced any major fever, chills, cold sweats, nausea, or loss of appetitive. I'm taking basic aspirin, echmneca and milk thistle, green tea, plenty of fluids, etc.
I'm not worried yet, and assuming my immune system takes care of this on its own, then honestly, I'll be relieved to have gotten this outta the way, sooner than later.
But, I will say, I'm surprised to have caught this and be symptomatic, given my age and general health. I figured I'd be one of the lucky ones who was asymptomatic. Again, I didn't catch this from high risk working environments, bad hygiene, or anything obvious. Just going to the grocery store every day in a major metro area, and maybe drinking a little too much whiskey from time to time.

So I've been spending pretty much all my time on AoSHQ reading the posts and comments and then researching things as I find links in posts and from commenters.
I'm obsessed with finding as much info as I can, so I can stay up to date, but there's a breaking point.
I've learned to step away and try to watch something on TV or pop in a movie to watch.
But going on 13 straight days now of not leaving the apartment but 3 times for groceries, I'm going a little stir-crazy. At least with work, it was getting me out of the apartment and interacting with people.
Living alone through this and not having my usual escape of sports (watching and/or playing) is taking a toll.
I'm pretty much a loner anyway, so I can get through this, despite my complaints here. But I imagine this is affecting others a lot more.
Imagine if they decide we need to do this all over again for flue season in OCT. Ugh...

(1) Does anyone know what kind of policies (are there ANY?) people like Fusion Ken operate under at NBC on things like taking money from Fusion GPS outfits for pre-packaged "news stories" (probably called "background research")? Look, I'm a lawyer, so I get that it would be fairly easy to circumvent any such policies. But that's easier at the editorial leadership level than the line-reporter level. It would probably easily fly if Fusion GPS is just handing these reporters pre-packaged "research" and "suggested articles" based on that research, if there was no $ involved.
But as soon as Fusion GPSs of the world give a "journalist" something of value IN EXCHANGE for taking and using Fusion GPS work product, it's an entirely different scenario. CLEARLY horrendously unethical, by any measure. But what are the internal rules at these outfits on that?? Are these journalists supposed to at least internally disclose when this happens? Do they need approval? Or, do peeps like Fusion Ken do their Fusion GPS deals on the side, keeping it secret from management? Or, given the partisanship of Editorial Leadership, do they just pretend they don't know? Or, do THEY take the Fusion $, and Fusion Ken is just "doing his job"?
Would be super interesting to know how this issue REALLY plays out on the inside of these organizations.
I'm very sorry to say, I lean towards everyone overtly being in on it. Why? Because of the AMAZING coordination across media companies, not only of the stories, but the identical verbiage of the same stories.
It's so common, it's not even a story to complain about it. It's literally every day, almost every story. We've all seen the super-clips of media personalities across multiple platforms using the EXACT same talking points within hours of Story [X] gaining traction in any given cycle. There's GOT to be a well built-out, tech driven methodology to it all.
They've all be working from the EXACT same script for years, even before Trump. It's Journalist, what, 5.0?

Which is in line with President Trump's goal of getting people back to work by Easter. The 13th is a corporate holiday, so 14th would be first working day after Easter.

Pretty sure I had around Christmas. Symptoms not quite that bad but cough that took 8 weeks to go away, something I had never had before. I was also in Seattle in December and flew internationally. I was exposed to people from all over the world just as it was gaining steam. Id be shocked if I did NOT have it.

Indeed. My personal theory is that this virus has been widespread internationally for three to six months longer than assumed. Also, I think the infection rate is actually lower than expected, but the virus survives outside the body longer than usual. It simmers in population centers quietly, and it spikes unusually quick, not because it's more infectious or deadly, rather because a critical mass has finally been reached after a slow and steady build up.

My son has told me in no uncertain terms that he does not want any of my guns when I die, so I figure it's time to downsize and get some $$$ for what I no longer want to keep while the market is hot.

Two guys I know panicked about this and one thought I was out of my head when I told him this was an over-reaction based on incomplete data.
He was also skeptical, and questioned my sources, when I told him I didn't think this flu was going to have a mortality rate that was that much more significant than the seasonal flu that goes around every year.
It really surprised me, because these are grown ass men with a family and they were in the "ZOMG we're all gonna die unless someone does something" camp.

+1 on the Remington 870. If you can, find the tactical variant. 12 ga, short barrel. Pump action - nice and easy as long as you don't short stroke it.If you can find it, get Federal LE 12 ga ammo. Has flight control wad. Keeps the pattern nice and tight downrange.

Yes, and dollar for dollar, the Mossberg Maverick 88 in 12 gauge is hard to beat. $200 for a very effective home defense weapon that will last a lifetime for most people.

I would say for a new shooter a 20 gauge is a better call for heavy artillery/home defense. A 12 gauge is great of course but it will beat you up when practicing. A 20 gauge with #4 buck is going to be pretty darn effective in the rare case you need it.

I know it's considered enlightened to say it's just a few individuals over there that give the whole country a bad name. The Chinese culture is well represented by the Chinese government, unfortunately.

Yeah that is East Coast hunting. I read once the average range for a bow kill was around 10 yards.

Anyone who uses slugs in any gauge shotgun for home defense is just asking for charges from an overzealous DA for over penetration innocent bystander causalities.
Just like we had a guy in a shooting that had a .45 ACP with 5 extra mags on his belt. It did not go well for him even though it could have been considered a justifiable shooting if he wasn't outfitted like Rambo.

Nobody is getting up from tht kind of impact.
