Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | The Morning RantTeen-aged attention whore and religious scold St. Greta Thunberg claims she "likely" has the coronavirus WuFlu. She wasn't tested for it, nor was she hospitalized or even examined by a doctor. She just diagnosed herself, self-quarantined, and then took the opportunity to piously lecture the rest of us sinners about the need to stay at home. And speaking of attention whores, TDS deranged "comedienne" Kathy Griffin is complaining that she's in a coronavirus "isolation ward" with 'unbearably painful symptoms' but they're refusing to test her for the coronavirus. Because Trump. She's obviously lying her ass off and her claims have been thoroughly demolished already. So perhaps a coronavirus infection is becoming a new thing that allows the unscrupulous to claim victim status. It's a particularly easy one to claim, because you don't to do anything or look a certain way, you just claim that you have it and hey presto, you're an instant victim. The only question is where it should be placed in the Grievance Hierarchy. I'm thinking above "womyn" but below "gay." But views may differ on this. Note: Greta is apparently all better now. What a relief. We can now look forward to many more years of her sanctimonious sermons.

I had no idea she even existed until I stumbled upon photos of her while looking for photos of someone else. She doesn't have an extensive CV, just a few movies and appearances in some TV series. I thought she was drop-dead gorgeous, so I was surprised by the somewhat mixed reaction she got. Eh, de gustibus non est disputandum, as they say. Anyway, I needed a male to pair her with, so I found that she was in a film called Rapid Eye Movement with François Arnaud, whom some of you recognized from his work in The Borgias series. However, we will not be airing the briefings live due to a pattern of false or misleading information provided that cannot be fact checked in real time. (2) This is the new coordinated theme. The reality, of course, is that - as Andrea Mitchell put it - the press conferences are "working for the president." The coordinated theme, though, is that the president is lying and we can't "fact-check" in real time and so it is irresponsible to broadcast it live, instead providing summaries and digests to viewers/listeners. But I do have a serious question on this. What are the lies? What has been demonstrated as evidence of chronic lying. And I don't mean being *wrong* - that happens, especially with a fast-moving situation in a gigantic country. I am talking about actual, provable lies. What are they or were they? Trump is literally turning all 3 cable news networks into State TV. Live daily campaign rallies for the president to strengthen his hold on power. Unprecedented departure from American norms. Mr. Sherman is from NBC - a network that, based on recent history, are bought and paid for shills for the Chinese. Never mind that. I'd like to point two things out to Mr. Sherman and everyone else bitching that the President is doing fairly well with his daily briefings. 1) One of the reasons he's doing well - especially in comparison to you - is that you keep rising to it and being childish, mean-spirited assholes. It's a bad look. Quit doing it. 2) You - the Press, I mean - *demanded* daily briefings. Trump had asked Pence to handle this, and Pence was handling it. Daily briefings, full disclosure, lots of updates, progress reports, status, etc. You demanded that *he* do it himself. You asserted that his "buck-passing" to Pence was unacceptable and he needed to be out in front of the people. He complied. You got what you wanted. Quit bitching about it. The meme of the real problem being people spending 30 to 40 years in Congress got me interested in the 22nd Amendment's history (term limit for Presidents), which was easily ratified after FDR's 4 term boogaloo.
Washington wasn't opposed to more than 2 terms, but he declined to run for a 3rd as his health was failing. Jefferson had been a proponent of term limits for all offices, and tried to establish a tradition of only two terms for President by not running for a third term and announcing that intention well in advance. But some of his successors didn't see it that way, including Woodrow Wilson (spit). So, when the 22nd was being debated, did the issue of term limits for everyone else come up in the House/Senate? People are making uncomfortable jokes about being COVID-19 positive while leaning around protective plastic screens they put in. I noticed on my last express pickup that they are funneling people in one door, while others exit the other for safety measures. It's just weird to me. Basic respect. I know a lot of this can be overblown, but just be decent people for a little while if you're a jerk to begin with. The store staff are the ones that will suffer most likely and then the store might shut down. A guy told me that the kids were all playing and looking through the toys, etc. He couldn't believe it. It wouldn't be the first time Americans have fallen for a smooth-talking lefty with nice pants creases. People outside of NYC aren't familiar with his record and the MSM will present him as The Hero of The Corona Epidemic, with carefully chosen soundbites. This is what eases my mind about a possible Cuomo candidacy: Trump has lived in NYC for most of his life and, having rubbed elbows and worked NYC's VIPs, knows how the Cuomos have behaved -- and, he's not afraid to use that knowledge when attacking him on the campaign trail and in debates. How long it will take to get one (216) is unknown, but at a minimum it will take several hours and it could even take until tomorrow. Massie indicating he wants a quorum in the Hse chbr under requirement in Article I, Section 5 of the Constitution is precisely the scenario Hse ldrs/Capitol health officials were trying to avoid. That means that at least 216 mbrs must pour into the chamber to establish a quorum The House CANNOT vote on the coronavrius bill, by any means, until a quorum is established The effort to establish a quorum in the Hse...and thenpass the coronavirus bill itself, could push back the process by HOURS. A vote may consume several hours by itself just to usher all of the members into the House chamber in small groups The record length for a roll call vote in the House is 2 hours and 55 minutes, established on November 23, 2003, on a bill to expand Medicare. The term limit movement -- success at the state level, but royally screwed by the Supreme Court (yet, still a correct decision, as it should take a new Amendment to do it right). Via wiki :
"Homesteading," or securing a lifelong career in Congress, was made possible by reelection rates that approached 100% by the end of the 20th century. The concept of homesteading brought about a popular movement known as the "term-limits movement". The elections of 1990-94 saw the adoption of term limits for state legislatures in almost every state where citizens had the power of the initiative. In addition, 23 states limited service in their delegation to Congress. As they pertain to Congress, these laws are no longer enforceable, however, as in 1995, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned congressional term limits in U.S. Term Limits, Inc. v. Thornton, ruling that state governments cannot limit the terms of members of the national government.[28] Where rotation in the legislative branch has withstood court challenges, term limits continue to garner popular support. As of 2002, the advocacy group "U.S. Term Limits" found that in the 17 states where state legislators served in rotation, public support for term limits ranged from 60 to 78 percent.[29] Maybe after the wu flu fiasco has had a chance to wash thru, there will be a recognition that 'professional politicians' (spits again) were the fuckups, as usual. We don't need a New Deal, we need a new 28A. Posted by: GnuBreed at March 27, 2020 12:11 PM (Z4rgH) 471

Speaking of attention whores, the head of the Ohio Dept. of Health (Dr. Amy Acton) is a f*ckin' lunatic. She announced recently that Ohio hospitals have cut occupancy by about 50% "but we have to do better" in order to prepare for the flood Wuhan Lung Rot patients that are going to rush the hospitals.
... um ... Ohio is currently at less than 900 confirmed infected with 15 dead (at least 3 out of the same nursing home). We're in Week Two of this lock-down. If the estimate that 97% experience mild-moderate illness is correct and we assume that the people testing is skewed towards the more severely ill, we got some 30K that already have the disease. I'm becoming more and more convinced that Ohio is not going to see anything like a mass casualty event. Oh well, Dr. Acton is enjoying her 15 minutes of fame and Governor DeWine is in CYA mode, so they're OK while Oho's economy is torched.
