Oh, no my poor sweet naive babies. They're not making fun of it. They're celebrating it, embracing it. They called two characters "SafeSpace" and "Snowflake" to take those words back from the H8rz! Yes, "SafeSpace" and "Snowflake." I'm not making those up.85 I shocked that the names "landwhale" and "hugbox" weren't used.

This "character," and I use the term very loosely, was "exposed to an experimental internet gas" (what?!) and now permanently connected to "the world wide web." An experimental internet gas? What the living fuck is that? Are you retarded? Oh, and there's a "Goth kid" -- Marvel is so relevant to the kids of today! -- who was given a dose of the "living vampire" formula and so is a half-vampire. This Goth has a bad attitude and craves blood. So its name is... "B-Negative." Guys, I'm not making this up. And no, this is not a parody. Marvel means this seriously. Then you have "the twins." SafeSpace is a black male who has purely defensive force fields. His twin, "Snowflake," is "non-binary" and refers to themself as "they/them." Snowflake can conjure and throw "snowflake-shaped shurikens (ninja stars). As Comics Matter points out: this is a typical Marvel thing now, inverting usual gender roles. The male character is defensive, the trans character (who is drawn to look female) is of course the offensive powerhouse. This is just rote for Marvel. It's not surprising because they literally always do the same thing. Any chance they have to "subvert your gender expectations," they take it. This includes drawing all women to look like men. Yes, they do that now. "Carol Danvers" is called by critics "Carl Manvers," for good reason: She's drawn as a buff man. Sebatstian Bach of Skid Row seems to be their main model for "her." Dave Mustane is another doppleganger for Marvel Comics' Captain Marvel. Oh, and another black character who is gay/trans. Once again, Marvel's creepy agenda with turning every black character either gay or trans is in full effect.
Comics Matter underlines the fact that although "writer" Daniel Kibblesmith was the right age to collect the New Warriors when it first came out, he did not, because one character had blades projecting from his wrists and he was "intimidated" by the... imaginary drawn weapons. I saw the book as about faith, and he saw it as about the veteran experience.

And I thought one of the last things Trump mentioned is that the virus wouldn't be under control until July or Aug.

No, because their are other programs, planned for in advance. But since all public accommodations are now being closed, there's no choice for anyone right now but to stay home with their kids. No one can sign up for new day care, when all day cares are being closed as well.

I remember when DC brought us the new 'Silver Age' Flash, and Green Lantern. So much fun. Loved Infantino's depictions of Flash in action. Green Lantern with his silly big green boxing gloves or hammers. I was the perfect age for it.
Then I read the origin of Spider-Man and instead of outgrowing comics, I got Marvelized. I was ripe for the dawn of the Marvel era. It was a big part of the '60s. Ditko's Dr Strange alone was precedent-shattering. And basically everything the Marvel media today have is something Jack Kirby cooked up.
Lost interest and then the collection was stolen, but picked up again on the independent publishers' boom in the '80s, which also had some great Marvel and DC work. An era that culminated in Dark Knight and Watchmen and the crushing of the comic stores and independents by the X-Meanies.
The movies and the TV series hooked me in again for awhile. Fun to see even the distorted permutations of those characters of my yout'. Gradually, they've lost me. Some good stuff, but much potential wasted, too much drama, and boiling over with in-your-face SJW - I'm glad to have the time back. (Still following Legends of Tomorrow. It's goofy.)
The amateurish SJW silliness offered now has nothing to do with Marvel. How's that go? Wearing the skin of the slain and demanding respect?

Some clips from The Office, some from Extras, it looked like, and that 3rd guy, he was on a show that I literally could not watch because it was freaking me out.
Both Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant hosted and produced a show called An Idiot Abroad where Karl Pilkington (the bald guy in the clip Ace posted) is sent to various countries and they put him in the worst living conditions they can find in the worst areas of the cities in the countries they send him to and make him do the worst of the worst in terms of what the country offered.
Gervais pushes the limit, which I love, but I couldn't watch many episodes because they made me so uncomfortable.

Here's the deal. Comic book distribution is one of the most backward-ass, byzantine, Rube Goldbergian enterprises you can think of.
Basically if you want comics from Marvel and DC you have to go through a middleman called Diamond Distribution. There is no choice. You literally cannot buy directly from Marvel and DC.
So Diamond Dist. has myriad rules about quantity and selection as well. If you want just Batman and Spiderman for your store, you can't get it. To get Batman and Spiderman you have to order other books that are hot garbage. And unlike other periodical distribution systems you can't return unsold product. This is a HUGE part of the reason comics are dying.

Nope, not the only one. I didn't even know comic books were still a thing until they started making stupid movies out of them. Never touched one in my life, and I don't remember any of my friends being into them either. And I'm not trying to portray myself as some kind of Billy Badass or anything, I was an ordinary, somewhat dorky kid. Like someone else said, the idea of superheroes with magical powers never appealed to me at all.
Honestly, the fixation on comic books of Ace's has always seemed odd to me, but then I don't get the massive success of all those comic book movies either, so I'm obviously in the minority.

I don't agree; new leaders find ways to utilize the tools at their disposal, if they're good. No President had ever used Radio the way FDR did. As far as the Virus, that's going to depend on events. If we are ahead of the curve and end up with results like South Korea (and at this point, that is still possible) then in hindisght, it will seem as though we did very well, and all the nitpicking will be useless. If we truly do have a huge surge of deaths, then not. We'll know in about 15 days.
Personally, I think the Virus situation is going to be cleared up pretty quickly, and except for a few at risk areas, we'll have South Korean equivalent numbers. BUT the economic carnage is still going to be incredible, and that's where the true long term danger lies.

Even for a pessimist like me, it's hard for me to acknowledge there being an actual plan put into motion to destroy the global economy with the hopes of 1) ousting Trump and 2) gaining even more control and wielding greater expansion of globalism.
I think the world is flying by the seat of its pants in reaction and response. And if it hurts nationalism and Trump (of course) in particular, all the better. I don't take anything off the table with regard to what they're willing to do toward furthering those goals, but aren't they also destroying their own wealth in tanking the economies of the world?
What I do know is baked into the cake is that whatever action Donald Trump takes, the Democrats and "media" (birm) will say it's wrong.

I agree, and when I say "the decision has been made" I don't mean some grand conspiracy. But the Decision was made when we chose to close the schools, close all sports events, close all churches, close public gatherings, close restaurants, close clubs - for an economy as heavily focused on consumer spending as our is, that is a death blow. 2 weeks of it we could maybe have gotten through, but now it's going to go on for months? This is, quite literally, much much worse than October, 1929. We've time jumped right into the middle of 1930, and we're still just starting to figure that out.

In this most recent US flu season, 220K cases were confirmed by test, and of those 22K people died, a 10% death rate. That's typical of every flu season.
