Never Let a Coronavirus Go To Waste

Via Twitchy, Harmeet K. Dhillon uncorks a rant for the ages.

1/As a San Francisco resident and business owner, I'm wondering--can I trust the health judgments of leaders who let thousands live on the streets in their filth? And if we are now getting homeless into shelter, why couldn't that have happened earlier? Doesn’t their health count?

2/ All of a sudden we are supposed to accept 24-hour curfews "for your own safety" from people who order the police to stand down when Antifa & friends beat the hell out of taxpayers; people who refuse to enforce laws they don't like (death penalty, bail, property crimes) .../

3/ City leaders who literally give wanted alien criminals a public heads up when ICE is about to conduct raids are now telling me what's best, declaring a death penalty for businesses, no hearings or due process?! Forgive me if I don't fall right into line with the fascism .../

4/ which seems awfully situational. The Governor's suggestions yesterday that older and vulnerable people take extra care and stay inside seemed reasonable. Liberal city leaders decided to seize the opportunity and throw the whole economy into a tailspin as collateral damage .../

5/ but don't worry -- we'll soon have a government sponsored bailout for favored groups soon, funded with a tax increase crammed down the throats of the dwindling number of taxpayers. Homeless go back to the streets, illegal alien criminals get sanctuary, car break-one continue...

6/ Criminals continue to be released from jail or not arrested at all, and we all become more habituated, like sheep, to the loss of liberty yet again, "for our safety." I'm not buying it. I don't buy it with FISA renewal, with gun grabbing, or with this sweeping lack of process.

/7 SF Mayor London is tied to a corruption investigation of a federally indicted city bureaucrat she dated. San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo mocked Trump supporters assaulted by criminals while police stood down. Oakland Mayor Libby Schaff tips off wanted violent illegal aliens ... /

/8 .... these are the Bay Area rulers telling 7.1 million+ citizens -- more than the population of many US states -- to stay indoors, shut down businesses? Great judgment, all of them.

Related: California governor Gavin Newsom, who has let homeless populations breed the literal bubonic plague in their homeless camps, now admits he had the power to "encourage people off the streets" all along.

He just didn't consider it worth doing.

Newsom told reporters, "We’re working in real-time to secure hotels, motels, and trailers to house our homeless safely and protect our communities and the spread of COVID-19."

But when asked what would happen if the people in homeless encampments refused to be put in a motel or hotel and if he would consider forcing them into housing, here's what Newsom said: "All of these things are hypotheticals and we'll meet the moment. And we have the capacity to encourage people off the streets. We have existing rules and regulations."

"We have existing rules and regulations" to force people off the streets? That's right, the California governor admitted to having the authority to do this the entire time, but he just hasn't done it.

He didn't say that emergency declarations at the state and national levels give him more latitude to force people off the streets and riverbeds. He said they "have existing rules and regulations" to get people off the street.

Speaking of gun-grabbing: New York Times fruitbasket Nicholas Kristof uses coronavirus as cover to agitate for gun confiscation.

Meanwhile, Kamala the Kop uses coronavirus as a pretext to demand $500 per month federal doles to everyone.

Neoliberal c*ck opportunist Mitt Romney of course is pushing a similar notion to help the economy help his future run for president.

More leftwing political opportunism: Marxist jihadist Linda Sarsour -- surrogate for Bernie Sanders -- claims that Communist Cuba already has a coronvirus "treatment," but nefarious corporatists in the US won't let the people have it until they can find a way to profit off it.

Gee, I wonder what the religion of these imaginary corporatists would be, Linda?

"Never let a crisis go to waste," Rahm emmanuel advised his fellow Democrat tyrants-in-waiting.*

Meanwhile: It's not a crisis until hapless trust-fund nepot, failed novelist, and Canadian C**k David Frum embarrasses himself.

This might be my second-favorite new joke:

What a fat ugly repulsive toad.

* Whoops! I said "Ari Fleischer" said that. Brain fart. I think I was thinking of Rahm Emmanuel's "power agent" brother Ari Emmanuel (the model for "Ari Gold" on Entourage).

He gave details to House Republicans at today's luncheon, which will form the basis for any bill the president will sign.

81 And yet, when this is all over and past us (probably mid-summer at the absolute latest)...
- there will be precisely no reckoning for the media hacks who created the panic
- there will be precisely no push-back against the democrat and NeverTrump hacks who politicized the response to the outbreak
- precisely nothing at all will happen to China, who released this bug on the world
- we'll add trillions to our unsustainable debt bailing out everyone and their grandmother, raping savers again

So. Much. #Winning.

Full, balls-out, centrally planned economy.

No Constitution, No Rule of Law, no honoring of contracts, no individual Rights.

We are chattel that is micromanaged on what we can do, where we can go, how we live, what we can buy, when we can buy it.

We have no market. The Feds and the Central Banks can do anything they want and will make out like bandits while the few required to work, watch our savings inflated away and the rest taxed away to give to the Entitled.

Who would have thought that Trump who was accused of being a dictator by the Left would actually be made one by the Left.

Spanish Influenza 1918. New York City was under the thumb of Tammany Hall. So the mayor appoints as head of the New York City Department of Public Health a guy named Copeland who wasn't even a doctor but was a loyal foot soldier for Tammany Hall.

So naturally at first, "there is no Spanish Flue outbreak." And then there it was with the first death on September 15th and they could not ignore it any longer. So they finally instituted quarantine but it was too late.

Royal Copeland if set down in the USSR or Nazi Germany would have been a perfect party man.

"Man is a social animal and cannot work without cooperation. Organization is a necessity and my organization is Tammany." - Royal Copeland.

I had to explain to the girl that her betta fish doesn't have coronavirus, and that her little friend from across the way doesn't either, and they shouldn't waste a beautiful spring day on the Front Range of the Rockies on this fucking fear.

I had to explain to both the kids that nobody in the house exhibits any symptoms, that we likely won't, and even if we do, they'll likely manifest in the same fashion as any other common cold, like they've had many times.

That the people they need to worry about are their great-aunts and -uncles and grandparents, but that those people have already seen to the necessary precautions and likely won't exhibit a single symptom, either.

I had to explain to the Lady that babies aren't at any elevated risk, either.

I've wasted an entire valuable day of my life quelling panic in my house. This is so, so stupid.

They aren't curious because they see this as Donald Trump's Waterloo. If they think that shutting the country down will piss people off, they are certain that people will blame Trump because he is so massively hated.

"But he's not massively hated," you insist. "His approval ratings are higher than Obama's were."

For now, perhaps. But the media has decided that Trump is the nail, they are the hammer and they are going to pull out all the stops to make sure that he and only he gets saddled with the collapsing economy, a soaring debt, a broken manufacturing base and an unprepared biological team.

Within two weeks, look for MFM stories about Joe and Jane Sixpack, owners of the local restaurant, who have been driven to bankruptcy because of Trump's inconsistent, delayed and hack-handed response to the Kung Flu. You can bet your life on it.

Go to the gas station and fillup, go to best buy and get a new tv. And factories can just send their goods to the stores for free. Keep the economy moving. Farmers would deliver their food free, but they would receive free seed and fertilizer, so no cost! People wouldn't need paychecks ever again! It is a flawless plan! No visible downside! It is because of the media induced panic that is pushing the world to going full Road Warrior that has caused store shelves to resemble those of that Socialist hellhole called Venezuela.

So the final lesson of 1918, a simple one yet one of the most difficult to execute, is that those who occupy positions of authority must lessen the panic that can alienate the members of a society. A society that takes as its motto "every man for himself" is no longer a civilized society.

said, "yes". I said so now can I but that $1,600 M1-A I've always

For the last 20 years or so, every time I find a bottle I particularly like, I buy a second one and sock it away in the basement. I have no idea what I'm going to do with it all, but if they close the stores, well, it's about time I started making some room.

250 So I am at the office - they close the office so I go to lunch.

I go to get lunch - I'm told they are closing in a few hours and won't open until May. So I go to the gym to work out some frustration.

The gym is closing in a few hours and will also be closed indefinitely until the Kremlin allows it. So I plan to go church for a Bible Study.

But our government has literally outlawed the assembly.

So much for "separation of Church and State".

ALL of these closures were mandated by the government. And we can't even speak in open about the origin of all of this plague - from the largest Communist country in the world.

And the hundreds of millions of firearms spread about this country, not one will be used to even challenge any aspect of the death of the Republic and the institution of Communism.

I guess we all really want to be Communists.

It was kind of funny. Replace the words "Climate Change". with "Corona Virus", telescope the time frame of the catastrophe from ten years to ten days, we have the same fear, the same agitators, and the same remedy.

Surrender your soul to your overlords or you will die.

I firmly believe it scratches several different itches - depending on the person.

You've got the media that loves to make a story and loves to attack Trump. So they took this and ran with it. You've got the government douche that loves to project power - and this gave them a pretext. And you've got the never sleeping Internet Scold that loves to tell people how they better take this seriously.

The scolds are the best. If I thought for a second this thing was dangerous - I wouldn't say a damn word. I'd just quietly hoard my shit and go to ground without anyone being the wiser - to increase my chances of survival. But - scolds gotta' scold. They won't be satisfied until everyone is as out of their minds as they are.

The local authorities had been granting themselves the power for decades.

The federal government never even seems to have tried for that power.

And that highlights some of the frustration from the left. They want an all powerful federal government, but Trump isn't operating as though the federal government is all powerful. This bailout thing is depressing, but in terms of everything else, the reaction seems very much in line with what you would expect from a pretty conservative president.

322 174 Why dont we make everything free because of the pandemic? Instead of sending people checks every month, just let them go to the grocery store for free. John Lennon's classic come to life! Imagine!

But then we have the problem when this crap is over they have to start from scratch again. More help.
Don't get me wrong. I think this whole thing is bullshit. But you are putting my sons out of work (and $1000 didn't even come close to replacing their incomes) and a lot of that money you are giving away came from me and my family and f#%k you leaving me out because you've decided I don't need it.

341 Iraq:Iraq's president Tuesday named a former governor of the city of Najaf as prime minister-designate, following weeks of political infighting, as Baghdad residents rushed to stock up on supplies hours before a days-long curfew was set to take hold amid a global pandemic.

Iran:
Appearing before the cameras coughing and sweating profusely, the man leading Iran's response to the new coronavirus outbreak promised it was of no danger to his country. "Quarantines belong to the Stone Age," Iraj Harirchi insisted. A day later, he himself would be in quarantine from the virus.Harirchi's story is a microcosm of what has happened in Iran amid the coronavirus pandemic. Roughly nine out of 10 cases in the Middle East come from the Islamic Republic, which has reported over 16,000 people infected and at least 988 deaths amid fears that cases may still be underreported. While most people who are infected recover, the virus spreads rapidly and can kill the elderly and those with breathing problems or other underlying illnesses.

I was trying to understand why they are getting so worked up about this. Trump's team, I mean, and other health authorities.

Ben Carson confirmed last night what their panic is based on.

R0 for this thing is, according to the current data is estimated to be in the range of 2.0 - 2.5. That's pretty high. Flu is around 1.3. (Measles is 10, which spreads like wildfire. Norovirus is about 3.7 and that stuff goes like wildfire).

So, novel new virus with a high R0. Add the unknowns to that, plus the known that it seems to be pretty bad for the elderly.

And that's why they're shitting their pants and going with all this draconian shit.

370 From now on, the capabilities of all countries will be measured by the number of operational ventilators they can deploy with 1 days notice.

OK. So the mission is to build a ventilator and have it ready by the end of the week.

Do you have a spec? Do you have a drawing? Do you have an engineer that can design one? And one that will work right from the start without iterations or any flaws?

Do you have the technical ability to even build a prototype? Test? Warrant? Price? Market? Put into delivery channels? Install? Train? Support?

How about the materials? If one dropped out of the heavens and on to your drawing table, and a truck dropped off all of the raw materials to build one, how long would it take to mass produce?

Can you find and train people to build ventilators? What about its safety? Has the Almighty God and Savior Fed Gov going to protect you from lawsuits? Technical support? Distribution? A reliable income stream to pay for the R&D, build, marketing, supply chain, contracts, management, support, training, distribution, maintenance plus all of the surrounding infrastructure to even support that effort? Ready to renegotiate the union contracts to make this?

Now you need all kinds of approval from a myriad of government agencies. We know how bureaucrats "work". You really think the FDA will rubber-stamp a life saving device without running it through any tests?

How quick do you think trial lawyers will move to bankrupt your company at the first sign of failure?

Do you think making this will step on anyone's toes who thought that they already had a monopoly on the government contract?

I stopped by the local Safeway coming home. It was wiped out. Zero paper anything. Liquor isle empty (except some pricey wines). Pasta, beans, rice, all gone, and anything that goes with it. Meat isle empty. Butcher counter closed. The prepared deli section seemed fully stocked though. Place was packed for 10am on a Tuesday.

Bread mold can also produce an antibiotic. (penicillin is from cheese mold, iirc) It's interesting to note that a medieval folk remedy for some wounds was to make a bread poultice, which involved binding moldy bread to the wound. It may well be that through trial and error, the people using that had hit upon a way of using antibiotics, even though they didn't really understand what they were doing, or why it worked.

460 I don't think Kamala is proposing $500 to everyone. it's just to democrats. weasel words "up to" and "working families" and I'm pretty sure working families will include dole recipients. kinda like how the earned income tax credit refund doesn't require any earned income or any taxes paid.

461 read mold can also produce an antibiotic.
(penicillin is from cheese mold, iirc) It's interesting to note that a
medieval folk remedy for some wounds was to make a bread poultice, which
involved binding moldy bread to the wound. It may well be that
through trial and error, the people using that had hit upon a way of
using antibiotics, even though they didn't really understand what they
were doing, or why it worked.

Rich considering the Dem nominee will be a literal agent of China whose family has been richly bribed by them. As a matter of fact, politics aside, that disqualifies Biden and most people would agree if they knew about it.

Continue this discussion when we are at the peak of COVID, because we are not there, yet.

I made the prediction on the 9th that we would have about 32,000 cases by March 23. We are on track for that. We don't know where the peak will be until the cases start slowing down. That has not happened yet.

467 Visited local Costco today to buy a couple of restocks: microwave popcorn, granola bars and then see if there were any new stock of clorox wipes for other family members (there weren't).

Gaps in availability (entire ice cream section cleared out for instance) and obviously shelves not as stocked as usual above, but since they had extra room they filled voids with alcohol LOL

Bought a bottle of vodka because why not?

Everyone mellow and joking nobody panicking. Some people my age in full goggle mask and gloves others just in gloves and a couple of old times just rolling through the place like there was no issue at all.

477 I'm just as pissed about this LSM inspired panic here in the U.S. as anyone else. I've seen the Hong Kong flu, the Asian flu, and a whole bunch since then without the current hysteria. But why the whole rest of the globe? Does our LSM have that much influence? The Italians have shut down their whole country, for crying out loud!

Yes, I am self quarantining, but that's because I am 29, I have a couple of underlying conditions, and I am on dialysis. Twenty years ago, I would have shrugged and gone about my business because this virus isn't hitting that age group. Yes, it's hitting the 29 years old group with underlying conditions. But it's not hitting the young and healthy.

The Sabin girl child works for the city of Omaha. Along with a bunch of you guys, she is currently working at home. I asked her why the panic, why the hysteria? Omaha, Douglas county, and the state of Nebraska are terrified of law suits in case a kid catches it, claiming that the city, the county, and/or the state should have taken action. That's her take on it.

The "news" is doing everything it can to get people in a panic. Local news (Dayton, OH) just breathlessly reported some bull$h!t study out of the UK predicting over 2 million dead in the US due to coronavirus "if we do nothing."

Wuhan Flu has been burning like wildfire in Italy for over a month. Country with a population of 60 million has had less than 3000 deaths due to that virus in a month. That's in a country that did everything wrong concerning people coming from China, has a weak medical system, AND the disease has probably been in Italy since January.

Lets assume Italy suffers 10,000 in 3 months before the disease burns itself out. Extrapolate the same percentage (0.017%) to the US population (330 million) and we would suffer 55,000 dead But we won't because we have a much better medical system and we blocked people coming directly from China in January.

F*cking a$$holes in the media are getting people spun-up with bull$h!t numbers. Absolutely worst-case, Wuhan Flu won't be much worse than the typical seasonal flu.
