4 Good Morning Morons today is Sunday, March 8, 2020, . On this date in 1817 the New York Stock Exchange was founded. The MFM began publishing the meaningless Dow Jones Average soon after. And don't forget today is DST in some backwards States.

Me too Mlii.
I really enjoyed them. Lead player could be a real dunderhead at times. 40ish and decided he wanted to play cover tunes in bars? Seriously?
Think TDS had something to do with it and that is not a joke.
Thinks people like Gary should pay more in taxes since he busted his backside to get where he's at and still does to stay there.
I told Gary, screw him.
We might be buying their kick tail speakers to cover the Weston and other bigger gigs. Ones we have have worked fine so far but hey, these really whoop tail.

They had a really good dozen or so year run.
And I did get to cover for their drummer a couple of times and sit in doing percussion a few others.

27 On Biden, I think he's deteriorating faster than expected -- the Powers That Be probably saw him as electable in a way Hillzebub isn't, and that said hag would be his VP, so she could finally get her talons on the levers of power "when" Biden was incapacitated.

They didn't expect him to crash and burn like this until AFTER the election, IMHO.

38 33 pawn, let's not forget the role Bush played:

On Monday August 8, 2005 President Bush signed into law a broad energy bill (Energy Policy Act of 2005) that extended Daylight Saving Time by four weeks beginning in 2007. The provisions of the bill called for Daylight Saving Time to begin three weeks earlier on the second Sunday in March and end one week later on the first Sunday in November.

My state, MS, is one of 3 with active state congressional bills to end dst or make it permanent.

I figure, #twoweeks.

I can see an argument for either std time or dst, but either way make it permanent. Funnily, Pence was asked about dst yesterday and dodged the question.

Oh yeah, he's a Trump clone. Not.

39 As far as Biden's malapropism goes, the family and friends learn to compensate for it, and may not notice. The news isn't going to confront Biden and they'll ignore or silence the opposition, so no one that matters is going to mention the Emporer's new aphasia.

I think you're right, Mlii.
And good for trio.
Plus it sounds like getting the bigger gear, if that happens, has caused Steve to finally decide it's time for "us" to hire a couple of young, strong backs to do load ins/outs.
He's given me fits trying to get him to let Gary and I handle the heavy lifting we already had.
He's 70 or so.
Gary is sixty.
I'm the smack dab in the middle child.
Since we don't do it for the $, all of which goes back into upgrading gear, I'm kind of, or should say really, looking forward to that myself.

Let the kids haul it in and out.
We just set it up, sound check, play, tear it down and pack it up.

Almost like we're pros,,, or something.

New sound outlay? 3K,,, used.
Quite a bit more when new.

I'd love to have Bloomberg levels of both wealth and comfort of wasting money. I'd sponsor constant vigorous academic research into this BS not for environmental purposes, but solely for unintended consequences purposes.

I bet the 55 mph speed limit one is great, especially on global warming, traffic congestion, etc. I'm guessing a car reaching its destination by driving 70mph pollutes less than one stuck in traffic at 55mph.

It might have to get in line, though. There are so many other fun ones, like the move to plastic bags from paper bags to save trees grown on tree farms and how it coincides with the same people insisting we plant tree farms to stop global warming.

103 101 Removing vent windows to save 0.5 mpg, which made large numbers of buyers move to air conditioners in their cars, adding weight and parasitic losses on the engine and costing 2-4 mpg.

Yay, we saved 0.5 mpg by removing that useful tool!

118 Oil wars they have begun.

Apparently, Russia and the Saudis had a big falling out last week, with Putin refusing to cut production. So. Saudi Arabia has decided to ramp UP their production. All of this, in a lower demand situation due to virusgate. (PS -- if VirusGate hasn't been coined yet, I'm laying claim)

Currently, the US is #1 in oil production, with Russia a close #2. SA is a few million bpd back, but not for long.

Here's my guess -- Sometime in the next few months, gas prices are gonna fall $0.50 a gallon or more. Our frackers are gonna take a big financial hit though, as their production costs are a lot higher than SA or Russia. New drilling will be curtailed, I bet.

Supply and demand -- How does it work? Like usual.

Much more sad is what I encountered on the campus every time there recently.

Since he wasn't symptomatic he figured "why sit at home on a Saturday night?". Now, he's sick and two other people at the party are also now sick. Everyone who went to the party should probably self-quarantine.

What's crazy is my daughters friend just traveled home for California for spring break. She did this even though she knows she was exposed to a sick person, but she never thought to self-quarantine. After all, she doesn't feel sick, so why interrupt her travel plans? Same idiotic thinking the med student exhibited.

The lesson is: People cannot be trusted to self-quarantine.

The local paper has a letter from a Catholic man residing in Naples, Fl who is outraged that a pastor from a CA church in NJ was refusing First Communion to a severely autistic boy (The pastor has since changed his mind). I'm not here to debate this point because I'm not a RC pastor, but if it were my church he would be able to take it because it's a sacrament of God's love and Jesus' sacrifice and participation in a meal with the family of God. We don't have to completely understand what's going on in Communion to know that God loves us.

At any rate, the humor for me was that the author of the letter described himself as an 88 year old "retired Catholic." I make plenty of typos and grammatical errors here, but you'd think someone at the NY Post would have understood that he probably meant that he was 88 and a retired man-not that he was a retired Catholic unless he's a lapsed RC.

How autistic are we taking here?

IIANM, "The Church" has all kinds of provisions in Canon Law for special cases, and making sure the disabled have access to The Sacraments.

Unless there was some very specific and compelling reason to refuse communion, it seems at first smell like this priest was not acting properly.
