The Morning Rant

talking ape.jpg

If I were a Democrat right now, I would be asking myself, 'how did we get to the point where our only choices are an unreconstructed Marxist and a drooling buffoon?'

Well, I think it's kind of like how they pick juries. The jury selection process is not so much a question of the prosecution and the defense trying to agree on who would be the best jurors, but rather, they start out with a large jury pool and they start tossing out the ones they don't like, for whatever reason. And whoever is left, that's who gets to be on the jury.

Yes, our election process works the same way.

Kind of frightening, isn't it?

So let's take a look at the discarded jury pool rejects:

Amy Klobuchar -- I don't think anyone could figure out why she was in the race to begin with.

Beto O'Rourke -- Classic case of peaking too soon. The novelty of his fake Hispanic schtick wore thin before the election season ever really got started. The fact that he blew through a crap ton of money on a fruitless race against Ted Cruz probably didn't help, either.

Andrew Yang -- Even though I didn't agree with pretty much anything he said, of all the Democrat candidates, Yang struck me as a guy I wouldn't mind sitting down and having a beer with. In other words, he seemed like a normal guy. That's a big handicap in today's Democrat Party.

Pete Buttigieg -- The dirty little secret here is that flaunting his gayness cost him bigly. Yes, I know the Democrats pride themselves on their tolerance and diversity, and only evil Rethuglicans would refuse to vote for a guy only because he's light in the loafers, but the Democrats don't like to admit that homosexuality is the bridge too far for many black and Hispanic voters. The number of votes from minorities Pete received was near zero. Plus, the other thing he liked to flaunt was his Christianity, which anyone could've told him is political suicide in a party where godless, Christ-hating progressives constitute a major voting bloc.

Mike Bloomberg -- I don't think anybody could figure out what to do with mini-Mike. When he was mayor of NYC, he was a Republican who wasn't really a Republican, but now, he's a Democrat who isn't really a Democrat. Also, Trump labeling him 'mini-Mike' hurt him a lot more than you might think. It's one of those nicknames that sticks no matter what, and I believe that even many Democrats got a chuckle out of it in the voting booth as they pulled the lever for someone else.

Elizabeth Warren -- Another 'why is she even here?' candidate. She was sort of Bernie lite, but with Bernie in the race, why would any self-respecting progressive vote for a watered down commie when they could vote for an actual, crazy-ass commie? Plus, I think a lot of men looked at her and thought, 'Do I really want the country to be run by a bossy librarian?' Nancy Pelosi said that there was an 'element of misogyny' in Warren's loss, but she knows that it's mainly Democrats that vote in Democratic primaries, right?

...and so this is why, after all of the weeding-out process is completed, the last men left standing are an unreconstructed Marxist and a drooling buffoon.

32 I do think they thought Kamala was gonna catch fire - I equally think Buttigieg was a classic Overton Window Test Case - but I'm also pretty certain that anyone with any sense, talent or charisma on the D side had no intention of taking on (and losing to) Trump this year.

I've also been saying for a long time that the D's had absolutely no one beyond Obama and Clinton (back when R's were routinely made fun of for their "thin bench").

So I'm not saying there IS anyone amazing lined up for 2024 on the D side, just that if there is, they would have also been intelligent enough to avoid the coming fiasco.

54 Beto's fate is comical - I think that if he had stuck to the persona he had when he was running against Cruz, he could have been the last man standing. When he ran against Cruz, he passed himself off as a young moderate, with an appeal to Hispanic voters but not particularly leftist.

BUT as soon as he took his act national, he decided he had to go all the way Far Left (probably pissed that Buttiejudge was in his way) So he started going for Gun Confiscation, and taking tax exemptions away from Churches, and Absolutely Open Borders - and not only did he find the left wing lane already taken by Burnie and Warren, he also totally destroyed his chances to ever run for any state wide office in Texas again! (Especially his Gun Confiscation positions!!!)

If he would have had the courage of his original positions, he could have been the man the Dems are looking for today.

He does. For all I know his studio encouraged that resemblance, the way studios encouraged actors who looked and acted like James Dean from 1954 onward.

The story is that Buchholz was so exhausting to work with in that flick -- trying to upstage other actors, etc. -- that star James Cagney, who was retirement age by 1961 anyway, decided to quit making movies. Cagney was a tough sort of fellow, not the cocky street kid he often played but no shrinking violet either (he must have been pretty strong to remain a star for 30 years) -- but Buchholz wore him out? Or maybe life did.

UNCONFIRMED REPORT

Members of #Iran's IRGC Quds Force in Syria are infected with #COVID19, forcing Syrian & Russian personnel to evacuate joint bases.

(Feedback from people with more info is appreciated.)

Wouldn't surprise me. The Iranians have nothing resembling a public health system and a lot of them don't even accept the germ theory of disease.

112 Gabbard knew she never had a chance. As hard as it is go from the Senate to the WH, its even harder for a Representative.

She was marking territory and trying to build street cred for her future politiciking - maybe run for the Senate or as Governor of HI.

Some people still don't understand why Trump has been successful. Maybe it's because so many have only looked backward on Trump, having been pleasantly (or otherwise) surprised by his outcomes.

Honestly, if you're remotely worried about the election, forget it, relax and go on with your year. As long as Trump is around, he's got five more years to go.

First, Trump is already out there knocking Biden's mental capacity, on twitter, at last night's townhall, etc. No way the press can stop that.

Second, saw a Bernie guy on Tucker last night very seriously discussing this, saying that the party is trying to suppress this, but that it's obvious to everyone his cognitive abilities are in decline. If they can't shut down discussion within their own party, good luck hiding it from the rest of us.

Dude bought a baby anaconda (or python, one of those things), raises it for years, handling, hand feeding, all of it. Best friend pet. One day, he's talking to a vet and gushing about his snake-- "Whenever I wake up, he's laying next to me."

Vet says, "You need to get rid of that snake, right now."

"Why!?"

The Establishment may be okay with the end goals of the far left, but they hate how they approach politics. It's their strategy and tactics that the Establishment hates.

336 253 I can't hear the name Montgomery Clift without thinking of The Clash song "The Right Profile" from London Calling.

Anyone who knows that album knows what I mean.

Yep. Same here!

The other day I made a solid single-album-length album out of the Sandinista! mess. Took some doing, and one side ran a bit long, but still doable for vinyl, but:

The Magnificent Seven
Somebody Got Murdered
One More Time
One More Dub
Corner Soul
Up In Heaven (Not Only Here)

The Call-Up
Ivan Meets GI Joe
Police on my Back
Charlie Don't Surf
Hitsville UK

And of course, I would never call my version "Sandinista."

But that makes a hell of an album out of that sprawling mess.

I disagree, I don't think this hurt him at all with those people, since his version of Christianity involves condescendingly Christiansplaining to all the stupid redneck deplorables how they aren't really Christians and Jesus is all about socialism and gay marriage and abortion.

Posted by: TheJamesMadison, trapped in a fish bowl with Terry Gilliam screaming at a hamster to run at March 06, 2020 11:45 AM (q80AH)

Because Trump is a meat grinder and going to mince them all up. "The Squad" was never *supposed* to go away. Trump brought them out in the open, branded them with Tlaib, thoroughly embarrassed them all over the course of two weeks (#TwoWeeks) and forced the party to make a choice.

They can't have the battle over Socialism with Trump. They want to force it down our throats with a gun, but Trump will rebrand it with the truth, which is poverty and death camps.

He will ingrain the truth of it in the national consciousness just like he did with "fake news", and another entire generation will never vote for it or anything like it. They can't have that.

But they have no intention of tacking back to the "center". They couldn't do it if they tried. Trump has given them no choice but to stay as crazy as they possibly can.

I can give you two from the silent era:

J. Warren Kerrigan, who played a number of cowboy roles and whose gayness was a Hollywood open secret.

William Haines, who specialized in playing preppy, college boy roles. Louis B Mayer hated him and di his best to get him kicked out of films. Haynes went on to be a successful interior designer, doing homes for Joan Crawford and Carole Lombard, among others.

Why does everyone keep say this. This is mfm narrative. I think the down ticket will be based on the disgusting behavior of the congressional dems the last 3 years. I don't think the vote will be cast with which old poop gets the nod.
Posted by: Sooner at March 06, 2020 11:49 AM (Fs5vw)

The Down Ticket narrative will be set by Trump. He will define Biden as left and Biden will have to confirm it. He will use his rallies to bring the message to a lot of states and districts that were never touched, and he has huge reserves of money now to throw into downticket races.

Sure, Bloomberg means the Dems have at least *some* money, rather than none. But Trump uses money far better, and he can use his own star power which nobody can match. He's already started at that Town Hall...we need to win the House, keep the Senate and win the Presidency - all - to keep the ride going.

376 Yesterday was a great day.

Well known and authentic Native American Indian Princess, Pocahontas, got the Custer treatment from her own tribe, the Marxist Socialist Bastard Mob or if you live in San Francisco or Seattle, the Woke Weenie Wankers.

God, I love America.

For once in my life I have substantial agreement with the collective judgement of the Communists that make up the so called Democrat party.

However before everyone starts acting smug about that rare moment of alignment I it think is useful to understand why they kicked her to the political curb.

Various reasons have been offered:

Republicans caused her campaign to fail.

Donald Trump caused her campaign to fail.

Russians caused her campaign to fail.

Misogyny caused her campaign to fail.

Yes, Lizzie and the MSBs, when you peel back the layers of failure, are claiming the real reason she folded her 2020 or Bust Teepee is because of misogyny. Yep, women hating men and women caused her feather headdress to molt prematurely.

With great delight I most point out the that the only people who voted in the Communist primaries were other Communists. This leads to one and only one conclusion. The MSB mob not only hate babies but they hate women too, especially this one. Luckily for Lizzie her abortion was limited to being political and not the real thing.

The question then becomes why did this happen in the party that celebrates diversity by pitting various social groups against each by the cynical use of identity political that create not the professed diversity but division.

One of the most telling and stunning moments that summed the pandering that defined the core of her principles was when she stated that her secretary of education would not be selected by merit, accomplishment and compatibility with her philosophy of governance but by a transgender youth because that makes complete sense.

Big Blanket Warren's pandering was even to much for the MSB mob. Even they couldn't take her level of personal fraud.

Elizbeth "Pocahontas" Warren is why her campaign failed.

I have a bit of a cat problem around my house. I have tried all kinds of things to get them to not piss on my house to no avail. The other day out of desperation I started playing the audio tracks from various Lizzie speeches non stop.

It worked. No cats. When cats run from a cat lady, well that is a pretty devastating critique of your character. I don't think her handing out catnip would make a bit of difference though that is exactly what she tried to do the in her campaign.

Again the real reason she failed is she is a phony. She never gave a damn for working families. That was a clever talking point so she could come off as some champion of the common man and woman while at the same time hording her $10 million.

As for her telling these same common men and women she would make their lives better by stealing rich peoples money was a complete clown show. People saw right through that fraud. All her plans to pay for her bullshit plans went after people who remarkably had a net worth just above hers. She was all too happy to be a liberal as long as it didn't cost her a dime. What a fucking fraud she is.

And then there is the matter of the infamous video where she tried to come off as authentic by petting her dog, introducing her husband, and cracking open a beer. You know, the only two authentic things in that video was the dog more or less ignoring her and her husband refusing to have a beer with her.

When you have to script being authentic you better be a damn great actor because by definition scripting being authentic means you ain't. Among her other shortcomings, which include being a liar, she is one rotten actor.

It is no mystery that she got smoked. She had a plan for everything except being authentic.

Game Over.
