What is the point of polling an election on the day it happens? It's even more masturbatory than polling it when it's months away.

More to the point, even if you strip out all the deliberate lies, which is 90% of what they do, the polling models are hopelessly obsolete.

All it serves to do is feed the media cycle. The press orgs deploy phony polls and then use it as a predicate to do a "story" about them and push their message.

Today the message is "the Party has its fraud machine in full gear, Biden's the guy, and don't be surprised when we beat Bernie today, because Biden's rally is totes legit, and here's the poll to prove it."

Biden wins outright -- He is mentally retarded and has senile dementia and constantly lies and is totally insincere and has no actual fan base, jst a bunch of resigned Dems who would vote for him unenthusiastically as the only alternative to Trump. Result: Trump stomps him.

Sanders wins outright -- he is a flaming communist that will get 40% EXTREMELY ENTHUSIASTIC votes from moronic youngsters, and basically zero votes from any moderates and of course zero conservatives. Result: Trump stomps him.

Brokered convention --Bernie Bros. riot, destroy Milwaukee, mainstream America abandons the Dem party. Result: Trump stomps whoever is anointed his opponent.

Final polls are always the most accurate. It's how poling firms get judged, not based on the months of polling up to that moment.

Suddenly, final polls of Super Tuesday states put Biden in the game. So, the logical assumption is that polling firms were intentionally downplaying Biden's support.

Yeah, Joe. Those were the bad guys. Dangerous for "our Democracy" amiright?

Somewhere in the internet aether is an interesting contrast on "Democracy", and shows how the verbiage - and official government acceptable viewpoint. "Democracy" in 1930s Army field manual was officially described something like "Tends toward communist, abrogation of property rights, license, anarchy, mobocracy"

Then, as the cartoon punchline, a Miracle Happened. Post war Army field manuals, the definition of "Democracy" had changed, strangely enough. Some mealy-mouthed "the will of the people shall prevail." or somesuch BS. Found that interesting.

Anybody talks about "our Democracy" really means "Their Con Game".

is also the group talking about how *Trump* is threat to the "rule of law."

The Bushes left such a toxic legacy that nobody aside from Romney and the ghost of John McCain want anything to do with it. In the name of globalism, they sold our livelihoods, technology, and future to the Red Chinese.

These nickelfucker pundits don't realize we know the score, and think that if they just destroy Trump, they'll get a Romneyfied GOP that will never have to deliver anything to the voters again.

Somewhat OT: I went to a few breakout sessions and it really hit me why NTs like Jonah Goldberg don't come here - because AIPAC events are so far out of their leagues that it might as well be a totally different sport. Goldberg plays stupid card tricks while AIPAC is the Olympic downhill slalom.

Anyway, I voted Sanders on my way back. No volunteers outside the polling place (this is NoVA). GOTV seems to be a huge yawn here. I'm sad I didn't get to argue with a Biden volunteer but oh well.

338 I read the general election completely different from most people. Biden brings nothing to the table - he's an establishment failure with huge family corruption issues who is losing what little mind he has left at phenomenal speed. Sure, he could bring aboard a VP to be a draw but

A. So could Bernie
B. VP's aren't nearly as important as most people think, IMO

Bernie has a legitimate grassroots movement behind him and has insane policies that will attract a lot of votes, like cancellation of all student debt. I still think Trump would win, but I think it would be closer. People think Biden would win PA - why would the voters who crossed over for Trump go running back to Biden?

Seriously?

The same Joe Biden whose brother, son, etc., have been in the business of selling access to Joe for decades now, something they could not have done without Joe's acquiescence, if not active assistance?

The same Joe Biden whose son Hunter f*cked his dead brother's wife, impregnated a stripper and then tried to get out of paying child support and denied the kid was his, has been caught smoking crack and buying meth, abandoned his wife and kids, etc., etc.?

The same Joe Biden who, during previous campaigns, blatantly plagiarized other candidate's speeches, and even pretended that a Welsh politician's life story was his own?

The same Joe Biden who for decades has lied about a drunk driver having killed his wife and daughter, when his wife was actually the driver at fault, and the other driver in the accident was not drunk?

That's the guy who is going to restore decency and integrity? Hope they're having a sale on decency and integrity somewhere, because the only way Joe Biden is ever going to have any decency and integrity is if he buys it.

Brennan and Comey were in that Jan. 5, 2017, meeting with obama/biden. The one Rice wrote the 11th hour CYA "by the book" letter.
Barack Obama, James Comey (FBI Director), Susan Rice (NatSec Advisor),

Brennan (CIA Chief) and then-Vice President Joe Biden are all coup participants.

I did. And it was absolute hog wash and incredibly disappointing.

It was hand wringing but but but both sides should just get allloooonnnngggg and Biden is right that people should work together!

The key graf to me is this one (I'm typing it out since the article is paywalled and it took me several attempts to get around that):

"It is built on humility - on the recognition that the other side has value. Conservatives dedicated to limited government should be grateful for liberals ensuring society considers the needs of the poor. Liberals dedicated to powerful and expansive government should be grateful for conservatives ensuring that society generates prosperity and protects individual liberty."

Read that again. Read closely. For what are liberals praised? Why, for caring about others! For what are conservatives praised? For being tax slaves who allow expansive government to exist.

The entire article is like that. And here is the closing graf.

"The path to civility requires both parties to display the humble belief that the other side consists of good, patriotic Americans with valuable insights, as well as the confident determination that their own beliefs are enduring and can eventually emerge victorious. That may prove a winning message for Mr. Biden."

There is nothing NOTHING in the article in which Jindal states directly and forthrightly that Biden's positions, not his demeanor, his positions, are detrimental to individual freedom. There is nothing NOTHING in the article expressing dismay at Biden wanting government to expand.

It is the damn Cult of Nice and oh Biden thinks other people just disagree and isn't that nice!

No. No, it's not, and it's also not true.

The problem with the piece is that it accepts as true the premise that those on the Right are Others and, seriously, it is incredibly insulting.

And it is absolutely written in the tone of acceptance, not explanation.

But, hey, I read it, so what do I know.

I was both shocked and surprised.

Jindal's who claim to political fame is being a policy wonk who is not afraid to make hard calls, like when LA ran out of money so he cut the budget to the bone, hell, IIRC, he even cut money to LSU, and watched his approval ratings go from in the 70s to worse than Congress's. Look at it this way, which of their biggest weakness will lose the most votes?

Biden ... dementia ... 2-3% ??
Sanders ... radical socialism ... 4-5% ??

That's the way I see it. People can rationalize voting for a "placeholder" like Biden if it means replacing Trump but for many moderates Bernie's radical ideas are a bridge too far and not worth the risk of replacing a President they strongly dislike. Plus, Sanders would scare moderates into voting for Republican congress critters as a check on his more radical ideas. Even if Trump beats Biden, we may be stuck with a democratic house and or, God forbid, a dem Senate for the next two years.

538 Do you honestly know a single Trump voter who isn't completely motivated and excited to vote? I don't. And I know some new Trump voters who aren't feeling the Bern and think Joe is a corrupt loon. I think Trump is going to crush either Biden or Bernie, I live in a state where my vote doesn't really matter, and I would walk through fire to vote for Trump.

That is the thing voting for Trump is as much motivated by love for Trump as it is by hatred for the dem and what they want to do to us.

543 Jindal was part of the RNC splitter strategy to get Jeb! over the finish line. He had a unpopular disastrous last four years as LA governor which led in part to current Dem. gov., so he is effectively dead just like Bevin in KY for any other office in his home state.

If I recall right, he was also pushing that Trump's comments regarding illegal immigration were racist back in the 2016 primary season.

His road back to anything leads to Washington in some sort of lobbying/media/establishment hack role. Might be very bright IQ wise, but arrogant and foolish in his political career.

Kasich of the South might be a good short definition.

544 None of the candidates is a walkover for Trump. In my opinion, Sanders is the biggest threat right now.

But I will not be sitting this one out. I'll wear out some shoe leather if needed this year. I think this is winnable for Trump, well inside the realm of possibility, but I am not complacent. The machinery is arrayed against Trump this time perhaps even more than it was in 2016, plus there have been four years of action since 2016. I like most of that action, but many *many* people do not.

A voter at one of Bloomberg's town halls challenged him about his gun control ideas, pointing out that Bloom has armed guards that the rest of us can't afford, but wants to take out guns so we can't defend ourselves. Bloomberg's reply essentially implied that as a former mayor, he's important because he gets death threats; he needs the security. He added, "I pay for them myself."

The "rule of law" phrase is just the empty proceduralism they've all agreed to play by. It's how they enforce anarcho-tyranny on the rest of us. It really means "whatever the government decides is lawful because a bureaucrat in a suit stamped approval." By "protecting the republic" they mean maintaining the bureaucratic institutions that give politicians and corporocrats their source of power. Trump threatens to blow those rules away, and the bugmen can't survive without their hive.
