Now Klobuchar Ends Race; Are Alleged Moderates Dropping Out to Boost Biden?

If the idea is to free up their supporters so they will migrate to Biden, I'm not sure that works:

Given that Buttigieg's supporters favor Klobuchar, but Klobuchar's favor Buttigieg, maybe they will go to one of the alleged "moderate" candidates now that both are out.

But this doesn't look like it will shift the vote all that much.

But maybe enough to make a close Bernie win a close Biden win.

Yes, and early voting has been going on for WEEKS.

This happened in 2016, too. Rubio got like 10% in a state weeks after he had dropped out. He didn't get delegates because it was first past the post, but that was 10% that could have gone to undermining Trump for another candidate.

The Establishment pushed all this early voting nonsense, and I hope they're enjoying it.

61 All fifteen of Klochubar's supporters migrated to Sanders, probably. Look I get she won a state the size of my back yard but she's a non-entity.

Here's my napkin sketch of things as they stand now;

Biden: probably won't last much longer health and mind-wise
Sanders: might die before the convention from another heart attack
Warren: will drop out soon from lack of money
Tulsi: will drop out soon from lack of money and momentum
Gloomberg: nobody likes him but tons of people owe him favors, so he has lots of political clout but no voters

Who the hell wins in this scenario? Even if Sanders and Biden somehow survive, they're so damaged at this point they're going to be severely crippled in the general.

And those who figure Hillary will step in; her health is at least as bad if not worse than Sanders. And she hates campaigning and even her own party despises her.

Michelle Obama is not going to do for anything that involves actual work or trouble on Michelle's part.

Where's their white knight? I think as the weeks pass, Democrats are going to get more panicky and freaked out because they can see no matter how this turns out its a freaking disaster.

It's a strategy to help boost Biden over 15 percent in enough places so Sanders doesn't become inevitable and Bloomberg, or someone else (just as likely), gets the nod on the second ballot. But the Left might want to be like me and others who opted not to crossover in open primaries to vote for Sanders to sow chaos: be careful what you wish for. I don't think the DNC wants all the moderates to drop out...a one on one race between Bernie and Biden gives Bernie too great a chance to get a majority of the delegates. Instead, I think the DNC wants Bernie and 2-3 other candidates splitting the delegates in each state to ensure no one has a majority going into the convention. The more it's split, the lower Bernie's vote share, and the easier it is to steal.

Klobuchar and Buttigieg were sacrificed before super Tuesday for this. Warren would be, but they're hoping she can at least split the delegates for MA. The establishment likes her, too as she has shown herself very willing to sellout to them, so maybe she'll gain some support enough to help split delegates down the road.

As I understand it, volunteers go to homes and visit to "pick up" ballots that the people there have "filled out" but not mailed in.

What I take this to mean is that they go into some homes, help them fill out the ballot, then take it in, or just get ballots and fill them in as they wish after getting the signature.

333 "293
Wait, what does Biden have to offer anyone?
He gains very little clout from a stupid SC primary."

Biden isn't the intended nominee. Two thing support this:

1. There is no move to push out Bloomberg; and
2. Obama won't endorse ol' Joe, even now.

The idea is to keep the delegate count carved up just enough to keep Sanders below the magic number. It might work IF Biden and/or Bloomberg hit 15 percent in enough places. They also could cancel out each other just enough not to meet the threshold in enough places.

Regardless, the DNC will flat out take away the nomination from Sanders.

how it's done in Philadelphia (West, North, parts of South and Southwest Philly) is that ward leaders have the list of all the possible names from the census, they put together absentee ballots for everyone in their wards, and just go ahead and deliver them boxed up already to the polling place.

some of those people will also vote in person, I'm not sure what is done with those votes, maybe they are also counted, maybe not. this is how you end up with more votes COUNTED in each ward/district in the ghetto than there are warm bodies. oh and all Dem, absolutely ZERO for the republican candidate, not even by mistake.

370 The Dem horse-race is even more boring than usual. And probably inconsequential. Trump's fate is in his own hands, and he's in good shape. The down-ballot results will be a result of how lackluster the GOP is, and how lazy or dumb the electorate is (both factors are gravely negative).

Trust that the House GOP will avoid anything remotely approaching any hint of a specific promise or goal or agenda this cycle, per usual.

The Tea Party anomaly has faded and been swallowed/smothered. And the descent of the Dems into madness makes "hey, what, are you going to vote for THEM?", the key crutch of the seat-warming useless GOP, even more effective with the incompetent electorate.

And thus, CA has no national political relevance. They simply don't matter. Their electoral votes go to the Dem. It isn't a question and there is basically no chance of an upset. The House is fairly stable and we can assume 1-2 reps decay away from the GOP every two years until they are all Dems.

California has a lot of landmass, industry, agriculture, population and money - but it is completely irrelevant nationally. Their lock-step and nearly perfect political monoculture has ensured their irrelevance.

I agree, Hillary is poison to US, but we're not everybody. Recall that Trump didn't win by all that much last time, and Hillary's claim that she beat Trump last time has legs with some people. The DNC will probably want a more traditional nominee than Sanders, which narrows the field to Biden and Hillarhoid.

And the Bernie Bros and other hard-left are going to go all-in on violence and vandalism pretty much regardless of how things play out. I fully expect a replay of Chicago in '68. So the DNC has nothing to lose there; they're hosed either way.

Biden has pretty strong support from black voters, which is why he did so well in South Carolina. Where he's weak is in the wine mom demo, so Klobuchar is a pretty good pick. Either Klobuchar or Buttigieg, actually.

I suspect the fixers and consultants really see no way out except Biden. Democrats need black people to show up to vote; otherwise they have no chance. Trump ties "stop and frisk" around Bloomie's neck and hangs him with it, so that pretty much leaves Grandpa What Is My Name.

It dawned on me that I'm being used as a go-between for her own sentimentality. Even weirder, she's not sentimental about stuff she should be sentimental about, but rather expensive high heeled shoes, etc.

579 Eric Trump this morning on Fox pointed out how odd it is that Buttegeig has been running for the Dem nomination for over a year and then 36 hours before Super Tuesday, he drops out. Why would anyone do that to either themselves or to their campaign staff that has been working hard to get them votes. Eric said he wants to know what Buttegig was promised or offered to drop out Saturday instead of waiting like a normal campaign would do and see what is up after Tuesday.

Rush said he believes Buttegieg got a call from Obama. And then Amy got one this afternoon.

I don't believe it's the VP slot. It's money, or threats. This "good for the party" crap on the eve of a big primary is BS.

580 5 dead in King County, Washington. Wonder if they kept records on the people who flew in to Sea-Tac and passed temperature tests? Just so we can find patient 0 and point fingers.

My analysis is there will be many more deaths. When will the clown car of officials in King County set up covid19 drive through test sites like they did in South Korea?

My inside source at Costco says all bags of rice are gone in Woodinville. Seeing the anthill/parking lot yesterday I can believe it.

591 This is great for my favored "NO ONE" to win the majority of pledged delegates. Basically the formula for "NO ONE" is that enough votes have to go to the #2 and #3 and maybe #4 candidate that #1 is denied getting to the 1,991 majority to claim the nomination on the first ballot.

The problem with six candidates was that that if five of them all got 10% of less then didn't get any delegates, and it was like a two person race again, where someone is most likely going to get to the 1,991 cut off.

Now with four people it's a lot more likely that every race is either a three way or four way delegate split, which is terrible for Bernie. He needs over 50% in many contests to cinch this, but it's going to be getting way less with Warren taking 20% and Bloomberg taking 20% and Biden taking 30%.
