Morning Consult Poll: Only One Third of Democrat Party Voters Say the Democrat Party Is "Headed in the Right Direction"

Don't worry, when the choice is supporting Sanders or being carted off to reeducation labor centers, they'll support the candidate with appropriate zeal.

There are more alarming findings for establishment leaders in the Democratic Party: Morning Consult numbers also reveal that only one-third of Democratic voters say their party is "headed in the right direction."

Also, Democrat voter enthusiasm may be depressed due to the fact they think Bernie will lose:

"A 46% plurality in the latest poll said they believe Trump will defeat the Democratic nominee later this year, roughly matching responses collected after Iowa and New Hampshire," Mr. Yokley says.

On the other hand, the Democrat Party has never been more united.

A Bernie Sanders banker who works at Goldman Sachs leaked audio of a Bloomberg speech to Goldman in 2016.

It will not endear him to the left.

Former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg said at a private event in 2016 that his presidential campaign platform would have been to "defend the banks" and also labeled the progressive movement and Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, now a rival for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination, as "scary."

When asked his views on the rise of the far right in Europe, Bloomberg warned about the rise of progressive politicians in the US, citing Warren.

"The left is arising. The progressive movement is just as scary," he says. "Elizabeth Warren on one side. And whoever you want to pick on the Republicans on the right side?"

He also mused about... the coming Reign of Terror.

...

"Look at the income inequality," he said. "Anytime we've had this before, society blows up and they do set up the guillotines and the guillotines don't have to be chop your head off. They could be confiscatory taxes, they could be seizing the endowments of uh, educational institutions and um, philanthropic organizations, all of which those proposals are out there. You know, you're going to have to do something about this income inequality and a lot of it comes from zero interest rates."

Bloomberg also endeared himself to the Democrat base by standing up for bankers -- whom the left calls "banksters," for some reason that I never understood -- and said of bankers, "these are my peeps."

"But seriously," he went on, "somebody's gotta stand up and do what we need. A healthy banking system that's going to take risks because that's what creates the jobs for everybody. And nobody's willing to say that. The trouble is, these campaigns in this day and age, really are about slogans and not about issues anymore. And in this election you're going to see people are voting and they either love or hate, mostly hate both, but who you hate the least. That's what they're going to vote for. And they're not going to vote on issues."

Bloomberg added of the banking crowd, "these are my peeps."

Even as a Republican, I can only say, sarcastically: Thank God someone is finally looking out for the interests of hundred billion dollar banks, who barely have any kind of say in Washington DC!

Joe Biden's campaign both Pounced Upon and Seized On Bloomberg's remarks.

"Now we know that behind closed doors, Bloomberg described his last-minute endorsement of President Obama in 2012 as 'very backhanded' and said that he thought 'Romney would be a better person at doing' the 'things that I think are important.' Bloomberg may have changed his voter registration but he's still a Republican at heart," Andrew Bates, a Biden campaign spokesperson, said in a statement.

This should be about the time the media begins talking up "chaos" on the left and the "civil war" in the Democrat Party.

But they won't, because the Leftwing Propagandist Media Handbook declares that chaos and civil war are only permitted in the Republican Party.

If he's at 54% today as the Star Tribune Poll finds, it's over. Donald Trump is going to carry the state of Minnesota.

I've long argued it was a lighter lift for Republicans in general than some of the other states in which they exhausted resources.

His populism exacerbated it.

76 Both Bloomberg and Buffet share one thing with Trump, they have so much money that it insulates them from immediate consequences of speech. Bloomberg, however, believes that he is brighter, smarter, and more accomplished due to his money than he really is. So, his remarks, kind of like Romney's btw on a much smaller scale, come from basically choosing purposefully to not assort with common people much.

I doubt Buffet does much either as my sister worked at a company he acquired and never saw the guy.

Trump actually likes people I think but still has the insouciance of the truly wealthy.

Elections are binary choices and if you are a Democrat you are going to vote for the Donk, even if it's Bernie.

Seattle already basically did the housing for all thing. They made it illegal to evict someone during the winter months. Additionally, it takes a few months of non-payment to evict someone.

So all a deadbeat has to do is subtract the number of months it takes to be evicted from the official start of winter and BAM! That's the last rent check you have to fill out for half a year.

Rent. Free. Housing. Baby.

If he's at 54% today as the Star Tribune Poll finds, it's over. Donald Trump is going to carry the state of Minnesota.

I've long argued it was a lighter lift for Republicans in general than some of the other states in which they exhausted resources.

His populism exacerbated it.

We will go Trump in 2020 if Amy is not on the ballot. In 1980 and 1984 favorite son Walter Mondale was on the ballot.

But we have elected Democrats to every state office and both Senate seats.

It's not like a bar or restaurant where you're indirectly profiting from playing a TV station, so they have to pay for some kind of licensing or whatever.

Anyways, shelling out a couple bucks for a license would hardly bankrupt the KAG campaign anyway, would it?

Meanwhile we have trump who is a Russian asset, did nothing while a virus ravaged the globe, puts kids in cages, and gave massive tax breaks to the top 0.0000000000001%, while sticking the middle class with a false recovery and jobs that make them sweat. There would be widespread rebellion. Millions have been dumbed down and brainwashed, it's part of the program, but millions have not.

Where are they going to get the forces needed? Do they have a plan? Any evidence that people from that part of politics have been working it out?

If they can entice the under 30 somethings with promises of killing/hurting Fascists, that alone will be significant.

Additionally, there are far too many LEOs out there who didn't serve in the military and who never got drilled on disobeying unconstitutional orders.

Some conservative activist with a few thousand dollars to spare willing to fund a game-winning viral meme campaign, please read this:

Buy 1,000 garden gnomes. Plaster of paris, maybe two feet high.

Get 1,000 "Mike Bloomberg" campaign signs.

Affix campaign signs to gnomes.

Hire ten randos to place gnomes+signs all around town one night, maybe between 2am and 4am, where people will see them: traffic islands on crowded streets, the lawn in front of city hall, perched in trees -- even in hidden nooks where people will discover them accidentally.

Let the tweeting begin.

Few a very small investment, the "Mike = gnome-size" meme will reach 90% of Americans through social media.

Obama, after his sleepovers with the Castros, lectured Argentinian schoolchildren:

"So often in the past there's been a sharp division between left and right, between capitalist and communist or socialist. And especially in the Americas, that's been a big debate, right? Oh, you know, you're a capitalist Yankee dog, and oh, you know, you're some crazy communist that's going to take away everybody's property. And I mean, those are interesting intellectual arguments, but I think for your generation, you should be practical and just choose from what works. You don't have to worry about whether it neatly fits into socialist theory or capitalist theory -- you should just decide what works. And I said this to President Castro in Cuba. I said, look, you've made great progress in educating young people."

Bernie with a Dem senate and house is the end of the republic. They will nuke the filibuster in a nanosecond and get every leftist wet dream enacted. And they will happily do that in exchange for a few election losses in 2022 and 2024. Once freeeeee everything is given to the masses it will never been taken away.

254 159 Semi, the force wouldn't come at first. Remember, Russia had the Kerensky government before the Bolsheviks, Iran had Bani-Sadr before the Ayatollah, etc. They would pass laws, and only once those laws demonstrably didn't work would they start looking for scapegoats who refused to get with the program - at first, just a few to make examples of them, then more as required. They would use the instruments of law. Remember, the Soviet Union had regular elections and the Supreme Soviet met to pass legislation. All the Communist Party's operation was extraconstitutional - the leaders were General Secretary of the Party and often didn't have any formal office. The Party became pervasive in its carrots and sticks, with execution and the gulags for people who violated laws, often laws against counterrevolutionary behavior.

258 the "fractional reserve banking" thang is kinda a scam ... BUT when it was the local banks, they at least knew the people they were lending to and took the risk directly (in case farmer Joe went bankrupt and couldn't pay). But the banks still could then collect the asset ... if they were careful.

But It's a Wonderful Life (Jimmy Stewart) shows the difference between the caring neighborhood banker and the ruthless Potter. China is now playing the predatory loan game, and end up with strategic assets in Africa or around the world.

But the global bankster game is a whole nuther game ... they got special rights, bailouts, and escaped criminal prosecution by threatening our own government with global contagion. They really are a globalist bankster cartel. (see "All the Plenary's Men" on YouTube to better understand their power/influence)

People please. Fractional reserve banking means that you don't have all the deposited money sitting in a pile waiting to be withdrawn. If you've lent out 50% of the money deposited by customers and have 50% in cash sitting in your vault, that's fractional reserve banking.

Currently the required reserve ratio for banks of any significant size is 10%. That is for every $10 deposited, $1 is not doing anything.

Unfortunately, fractional banking has a loooong history in the US, starting in the colonial period.
There have been a few periods where there was a shift to non-fractional banking and free banking where the banks undertook their own risk at overissuing against reserves, but that was mostly post Jackson to pre-civil war, but it was not universal and the Treasury allowed "backing" by treasury bonds.

Peel's Bank Act in England did try to force fully species backed banking, but they left the door open for counting demand deposits, which were lent out, as allowable funds for reserves, allowing yet another avenue for fractional bank reserves

324 All I'm going to say is, you can FEEL how different the Dems are this time around vs. excitement for Obama, which was embarrassingly off the charts. (remember: "MMMM mmmm MMMM"?)

Everyone knows that translates into turnout.

Compare against the current Trump energy. Recent failed Impeachment effort increased Trump excitement level viscerally and measurably. Look at his approval ratings and poll numbers.

Long way to go to Election (and all that), but we can say definitively right now that Dems aren't right now where they wanted to be, and we're further ahead than we thought we'd be, right now. So, good news for Trump, bad news for Dems.

Posted by: Mayor Bill DeBlasio at February 25, 2020 07:38 PM (11H2y)

396 People please. Fractional reserve banking means that
you don't have all the deposited money sitting in a pile waiting to be
withdrawn. If you've lent out 50% of the money deposited by customers
and have 50% in cash sitting in your vault, that's fractional reserve
banking.

Currently the required reserve ratio for banks of any significant
size is 10%. That is for every $10 deposited, $1 is not doing anything.

https://www.federalreserve.gov/ monetarypolicy/reservereq.htm
Posted by: Someguy at February 25, 2020 07:10 PM (Zm+LZ)

The problem with fractional reserve banking, say 10% of today, is that if you get deposits then you get to claim the deposits and loan it out again, and then you have 190% of the amount you claim, which is is worse if you can do it a number of times.

This in of itself is not a bad thing, but it does create money out of nothing which both adds to inflation AND makes money easy to borrow which causes misinformation in the market to what is best to invest it, which is essentially a bubble which then deflates to recessions when there turns out to not really be a demand for what you thought.

With the deflation, everyone is trying to sell off their goods and properties and trying to get back on their feet again.
hard money regimes (specie is traditional) mean bankers are mostly looking for investors to loan money out to customers, where the bank gets mostly a handling fee, and avoids most of the wild swings that you get from fractional reserve banking.

That deflationary part is what Krugman (former Enron advisor) fears because of his fear of a liquidity trap where the sell off is so great that everything is locked down like gridlock in Portland until things start coming back.
Krugman never admits that the best solution to any problem is not endless tinkering, but instead to not have it happen in the first place.
Specie has its problems, for example it is hard to give boosts to favored industries and to make nice sweetheart loans to close friends, but it does damp down the gyrations of fractional reserve generated inflation and subsequent defaults.

399 So Rosenstein's Sister is the CDC spokesperson yelling "Fire!". Ya know, the Corona Virus is serious and American's need to be able to trust the information we are being given so we can protect our families. The Democrats are using this to get Trump and people could die because of their evil shit. We must be in the end times.....

403 Can anyone explain to me how it is that a bank is
taking any risk when it doesn't have to keep any reserves and can lend
more money out than it has in deposits?

Lending in excess of deposits is literally creating money out of thin air! Where is the risk?

personally I have no problem with an investment bank that offers loans beyond the holding, or loans out the savings like a savings and loan and building group, but they better be willing to go insolvent and default if they can't meet demand deposits.

408 somebody's gotta stand up and do what we need. A healthy banking system that's going to take risks because that's what creates the jobs for everybody."

If all those loans go bad, the bank still owes the depositors their money over what the FDIC insures.

409 Bloomers is an oligarch at heart. Oligarchs don't join political parties, they buy political parties. I love, however, that he is tormented by the nightmare that every morning is Five O'clock on January 21, 1793, and he can see La Place de la Revolution from his jail cell in the Temple prison.
