The Morning Rant

talking ape.jpg

So, it looks like maybe Bernie is going to be able to pull in enough votes so that he'll be beyond the margin of cheat. And the DNC will not be able to sleaze in enough double-secret Transylvanian super duper delegates to swindle him out of his victory.

And this is a good thing.

Not only because it guarantees an all-but-certain loss of catastrophic proportions for the Democrats, but because finally, *finally*, a national conversation about the horrors of socialism and communism, the one we should've had decades ago, is going to be engaged. No more are the rat bastard commies going to be able to hide behind euphemisms, evasions and elisions. No more will they be able to hide out in the motte of equality and instead will be forced to defend the twin baileys of gulags and genocide.

When you've got their own allies looking askance at them, I'm talking about guys like Chris Matthews saying well, I don't know if socialism is all that great as Bernie thinks, that's problem for them.

They think that communism is wonderful because of literacy rates, or "free healthcare", or whatever. OK, good, now let's do the one thing we haven't done, let's get out our microscopes and take a real close look at Cuba and China and Venezuela and find out just what it took to produce these accompishments, and also examine whether statistics published by rat bastard commie countries are reliable, and if they're lying, why are they lying?

And let's see how much longer they'll be able to judge communism by intentions but capitalists by results.

Yes, let's have a town hall meeting about this. Let Bernie and AOC and all of the other unrepentent commies defend the commie regimes and explain to America why we should adopt their policies, and have it simculcast live on CNN and MSNBC. In other words, let's have this conversation *in public* so everyone can hear, everyone can see the Democrats defend the indefensible, or see them scampering for the tall grass when the more unsavory aspects of these regimes are examined in close detail. Let them then pretend that they don't know anything about this, or, that's not real socialism, and deny that this is what they've been advocating for decades.

The Democratic Party has been playing footsie with socialism and communism and trying to pass it off as "fairness" and "justice" for decades. So it's about time that all of the masks and facades will finally be stripped off.

Me, I'm looking forward to it. And I'd like to thank Donald Trump for this, because he is the onw who has made it all possible.

Monday's celebs: Chelah Horsdal has been in a ton of stuff I've seen, like a couple of episodes of the the Battlestar Galactica reboot and Hell on Wheels. But I just don't remember her. However, 'Helen Smith', her character in Man in the High Castle I will never forget, and I hope she will get an award for it. She had a small role in X-Men: The Last Stand a movie that also featured James Marsden.

35 The reason the Democrats are unanimous/completely coordinated on post-birth abortion is Planned Parenthood.

The David Delaiden (sp?) undercover videos revealed that they harvest body parts while the baby is still breathing. That's *also* the reason why he continues to be harassed by California. They have to destroy him so that kind of information stays covered up/labeled "debunked" and "selectively edited," and so on.

It was real, and it was ghoulish AF. PP is EVIL and all who support PP are EVIL, too.

54 Bernie loses nomination = Democrat party in shambles, Trump easily wins 2020 because BernieBros aren't voting for Bloomberg.

Bernie wins nomination but loses to Trump = America sees what the Democrat party is really, and actually repudiates socialism.

Bernie wins nomination, and then beats Trump = Literal burning times, but since many of us saw Trump as a speedbump to this anyway, I'm not too broken up about it.

I'm not really seeing a downside to any of these possibilities.

From what I understand it was based entirely on the comment of one analyst who said that Russia would prefer to work with Trump over the alternatives. That's it.

From that, the news decided it meant that the Russians were preparing to interfere with the election to help Trump [again, was assumed but not outwardly stated by most].

I mean, Russia interferes with EVERY election, trying to cause chaos and promote people they prefer to work with or that have policies they like. So does Israel, Germany, Spain, Japan, China, hell probably even places like Namibia.

If I read the story correctly, 3 previous appeals courts in other areas (including San Fran) had ruled *against* the Trump admin on this point, at least partially. If so, that would set up a Circuit Split, which generally mandates that the Supreme Court step in to make a comprehensive ruling.

The left has forgotten something that legal strategists of previous congresses and previous generations all knew very well - you NEVER push a losing case all the way to the Supreme Court, because once you do that, you get a precedent setting decision against your side and you don't get to litigate it again for 100 years, if ever.

That's the disconnect between his fans and the man himself. They don't actually like Sanders, they like what they project on him. The baloon comb job, the old crank, the Larry David voice, his radical Communist politics, none of that is relevant to them because they're not actually supporting Bernie Sanders.

They're supporting their dream vision of a USA where they don't have any big bills any longer because the government pays for it all and they can use their money to party and buy all the stuff they want but stupid bills keep taking it.

299 "Communist China for having taken more people out of extreme poverty than any country in history"

that is conceivably true ... they made a lot of people more prosperous as USA made them a most favored trade "partner". Bringing people out of the hills to be slaves in factories ... with terrible pollution and not many human rights ... but there were a lot of people (perhaps) brought out of abject poverty. (and when you have 1.3 billion, taking 10% out of extreme poverty is 130 million)

But even in the USA, we have to consider the cost to liberty, when we start evaluating quality of life based on GDP numbers. The multiple efficiencies that have made life better should be evenly distributed, but instead the rich have gotten incredibly rich, the working class have better toys but still work full time to 65, while the welfare class has the toys even if they choose not to work.

Then we get DeepState and Google running over our rights, the oligarchs conspiring against the Conservative Man. Our freedom is as much in peril as ever (age of Trump intervening) ... and the biggest sectors for GDP are internet giants, pretty much all intent on ending our free speech via the Google Archipelago and a seditious coup.

Bread, circuses, high speed trains that run on time ... the ideal Soviet state would still be Big Brother control of the sovereign mind. ... Live free or die.

368 The SC Dem debate was by far the most revealing for two reasons.

First, is this debate is less about which candidate wins SC and more about building momentum for Super Tuesday where failure abounds and the potential power to rip to pieces American idealism portends for the anointed.

Second, after months of the candidates masking their true positions, the pressure of this campaign apex moment caused the masks to come off. What we heard and saw was their true beliefs and not just the skin of their faces but the muscles and fat below.

It was all ugly and stunningly anti American from the perspective of denying the essential American qualities of liberty, freedom and the right of self determination.

These candidates to a person are for gutting and the eventual bankrupting of entire the American economy, escalating class divisions whose logical end is mass violence, overt support for nullifying the 1st and 2nd amendments with implications that the rest of the Bill of Rights is written not in what God gave us at birth but sand, outright theft of wealth, the erasure of the American identity by erasing all sense of national identity by tossing the borders wide open, barely suppressed to flat out support for communist and near communist principles which history has repeatedly shown directly result is totalitarian regimes who end up executing and starving those they oppress.

This list is obviously incomplete and the consequences of what these candidates represent will not happen at once. Still what they will unleash is an institutionalization of these principles and given the nature of such regimes, once power is seized it is never relinquished.

All the yelling at each other was a sideshow that distracted one's ears from what was really being said. It was a penultimate moment of truth that has been simmering beneath a lid of lies. The uncovered pot boiled over last night.

Georgina is a professional equestrian in the hunter jumper world. She just won a couple of major competitions in Wellington last week. Laura Trump is also an equestrian, I don't know if she ever turned professional or just stayed as an amateur. I"ve seen photos of her wearing a cast on her arm when she and Eric were married because she had fallen off of one of her horses the week previously, LOL.

The event sold out it's 700 tickets quickly. There will be a fashion show, shopping, food and a "famous chocolate bar"

Georgina is quoted in The Hill as saying she has known Eric Trump since they were kids and he is an extremely nice person. I would assume she knew Laura from the equestrian world. Anyway, no problems between the two as they host this event.

I've seen photo articles of Bloomberg's equestrian facility. It's , in a word, amazing.

376 Denmark of course is hardly a benchmark of any kind given their size and circumstances.

Of note - they rejected the Euro several times, and were the first EU country to suspend Schengen (borderless travel) when Merkel did her act of civlizational vandalism with the migrant hordes from the MidEast.

And their tiny military effort and establishment are first-rate and generally laudable (like many tiny defense establishments in NATO). Though the most famous moment, NATO-wise, remains the political candidate in the 80s who said his defense platform would be to install an answering machine saying "We surrender" in Russian.

And speaking of things Danish defense-y, I recommend the movie "April 9th", available on Amazon Prime, about the day You Know Who took over Denmark in 1940.

That show lives on vividly in my mind.

387 The catch with Lefty's ideas is what happens when they fail?

First, they nationalize some industries. Later, normals against the wall. Only always.
Posted by: East Bay Jay at February 26, 2020 11:56 AM (Lg/Uq)

Their failure mode is to double down.

Nationalizing some industries didn't work? Increasing the power and scope of the central government didn't deliver? The only accepted answer is "More!".

Eventually you reach a point where everything is nationalized and the government controls every aspect of life. The people are miserable, but the sacred scriptures of Marx and Lenin are beyond question.

That can only mean it's someone else's fault. It then becomes about identifying "someones" and punishing them. As the failures grow deeper, the punishments become harsh for even the most trivial offense.

398 No one is complacent - but when the Dem party splits into factions and starts turning all of their vitriol on themselves, like they did last night, we're justified in feeling just a little bit of satisfaction.

Also, have you noticed how all of the big accusations against Trump have fizzled out now that Shampeachment finally died? All they have left is stuff like "TRUMP KILLED A MILLION PEOPLE IN CHINA!!!" and David Frum saying "YOU'RE FAT!!!!". That's all they got left to run on, they ruined everything else by spending 3 years beating it into the ground.

(1) The Democrat Debate last night made Iron Bottom Sound look like the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club. They only thing they can do to top it is to start throwing things at each other.

(2) Agreed on the accusations. They shot everything they had at Trump and failed miserably and now all they have remaining are schoolyard insults and pleading.

this is just good standard advice. If you get rid of old appliances, you will be replacing them with inferior new stuff. It is not complicated really. They don't make things like they used to and they sure as hell don't make them in China.

Posted by: Quint at February 26, 2020 12:07 PM (n13/j)

401 Much of the supposed support for "socialism" is really expressing a preference for "free stuff".

There is an ideological core group that either uses identitarian type redistribution or the older economic class based redistribution.

Even among conservatives, there is very little support for rugged individualism with most Americans being comfortable with social security, Medicare, unemployment insurance, guaranteed coverage, medical coverage for the poor, etc. Part of that is the realization that industrial life is quite different from a nation of small farmers.

When all that one has is the ability to sell one's own labor, then people feel it prudent to hedge their bets. People are willing to take a hit on potential gains from changes in order to avoid a loss.

The Donald is smart enough not the prod the bear by messing with social security or medicare at this junction. Most of the Republican officeholders bushwacked the Donald on Obamacare repeal primarily because the medical industries in their states benefitted from the program expansion.

Politics is the art of the possible and the way to counter the "free stuff" argument is to turn to taxpayers and elderly and say you are going to lose your medicare and private insurance bennies. They'll damn sure turn out to vote in that case.

417 And about that Cuban literacy rate.
In 1955, right before Castro took over, Cuba had the 5th highest literacy rate in the Americas, after Canada, Uruguay, Argentina, and the US.
Depending on what stats you look at, Cuba's literacy was higher than that of somewhere between 12 and 20 of US states.
In any case, they were starting from a high level.
