Well that party went far better than I could ever have imagined.

There really wasn't much blubbering at all, and once that passed, all those kindergartners were polite enough to pretend I never shed a tear.

Yes, it's a common-sense rule, which is probably why Sotomayor doesn't like it.

It's not about "punishing immigrants" so much as it is about "protecting taxpayers" which is what the public charge law was supposed to do in the first place.

But like most lefties, Sotomayor sees the U.S. as a giant ATM, and believes that all the world's poor have some natural right to come here and live off the backs of U.S. taxpayers. And if we object to that, then of course we're raaaaaaacists.

We already pay that.

What the smarmy cork soakers came up with was to propose lowering the rate from six, to five percent.

BUT..... then making almost everything which is service based into the 'taxable' column.

So they actually that with no alteration to resident population, spending habits, or annual income levelanticipate increasing the annual State sales tax revenue annually by 53%.

BUT.......it's not a tax increase,
Because they lowered the rate.

It really is Soviet math.

94 Morons I finally was able to get some Baking Powder and try that trick some of the Morons talked about with eggs this morning. I couldn't tell any difference. I made scrambled eggs this time. After I make a trip to the store I'll try it on an omelet.

The baking powder tends to clump, so you really have to whisk it into the eggs very well. Try that next time and I think you'll see the difference.

If Bernie Sanders wins, and it's possible, it would mean the Democrats did well in the Congressional races, too, giving them big majorities in Congress.

But that would mean a big Red Wave in 2022, putting the Cucks back in power of Congress and doing very little to stop Bernie's agenda.

107 I just checked on that $600 max sales tax. The law changed in 2017. It is now $300 may but it applies to more items that sales tax did not used to apply to. Also I found that the maximum allowable conbined State and local sales tax is supposed to be 9%. In my local city the sales tax is 10.5% but I am sure they have some legal trick that allows them to do that. The problems is that our local Walmart is inside the city limits. All the car lots except a few used car lots are inside the city limits too.

I am lucky I haven't bought a house or new car in decades.

Our village stopped it about 2 years ago. Then a year ago they decided to reinstate it. Why?
Because it will help the local police be able to identify the cars better.

I guess have plates on the car and a computer in their car just wasn't enough
I have no idea how the 3 digits on my sticker are going to help identify anything, because I'd be willing to bet, that is not part of the "system" the car computer has

Yeah, nothing at all suspicious about that death, right? He was talking to DHS about going back to work there, and he was getting married in a few months. So obviously he had nothing to look forward to in his life. Why not just drive out to the middle of nowhere and shoot himself in the head? Makes perfect sense! And it's surely just a happy coincidence that he was a major critic of the Obama administration's practice of erasing islamic terrorists' records so that they could obtain all sorts of nice U.S. government jobs and benefits, not to mention access to classified information.

Yeah I pay what is referred to as the "Hummer Tax" on everything. The engines are rare - GEP (the manufacturer) is no longer making them and isn't promising to ever make them again. I got one of 5 left in the country that are unspoken for. I had to ship the truck off, halfway across the country to get the work done by a place I trusted. Now this. It's just been a non-stop financial nightmare with this thing and I'm at the end of my rope.

What was my dream truck has turned into a nightmare. If the new engine is toast them I'm just going to sell it back to the place that did the swap - pay it off, and wash my hands of the whole thing.

The problem is that it was implemented under Obama and the Deepstate bureaucrats under Obama wrote the implementing regulations. 191 Great finish to the Carolina-Toronto game last night. Both Carolina goalies got hurt so they had to use the emergency goalie who in this case turned out to be the 42 year old Zamboni driver for Toronto's minor league affiliate.

He gave up two on goals on the first 2 shots he faced and then shut Toronto down and got the win.

This is the gruesome description O'Grady starts with. Her 2005 article then gets worse.

"On May 27, [1966,] 166 Cubans -- civilians and members of the
military -- were executed and submitted to medical procedures of blood
extraction of an average of seven pints per person. This blood is sold
to Communist Vietnam at a rate of $50 per pint with the dual purpose of
obtaining hard currency and contributing to the Vietcong Communist
aggression.
"A pint of blood is equivalent to half a
liter. Extracting this amount of blood from a person sentenced to death
produces cerebral anemia and a state of unconsciousness and paralysis.
Once the blood is extracted, the person is taken by two militiamen on a
stretcher to the location where the execution takes place."

197 Morning peeps. About 30 days to retirement.

Regarding the "Real ID" B.S. - here in Kentucky the state government has been struggling with bad equipment, software, policies and procedures for almost 2 years. The documentation requirements originally set out were nearly impossible to meet if you needed the Real ID to travel by air. Even I would have struggled to find the 5 required documents. Your current drivers license wasn't one of them until the state realized that very few legit citizens could meet the requirements.

I believe this was be design.

204 175 always buy the thing that is easiest to fix or replace
Posted by: DB- just DB at February 23, 2020 07:45 AM (iTXRQ)

The P400 shares all of its "components" with the 6.5 Optimizer that is still being made in mass quantities to supply the military.

The things that aren't being made anymore are the ceramic coated forged pistons, the web-reinforced bottom end, forged crank.. basically all of the components of the "block" that - if they were to go - the engine would as well.

So its not like the components are hard to come by to fix it. It's that the vehicle itself is unique. It's not complicated at all. It's very very simple - it has to be to be "grunt proof" but it was also designed to be maintained in a motor pool and not on a standard "civilian" maintenance cycle (3k,6k,12k, etc). The differences between the civvy and military versions are what is complicating matters as well. In a military HMMWV, removing the doghouse is two twists, 4 latches and the whole thing pops off and you can see the whole rear of the engine and bellhousing. On my truck, I have to take off the outer doghouse that has the glovebox, HVAC controls, stereo, window switches. Then I have to wade through the biggest mess of wires you've ever seen to get to the two twists and 4 latches. Then I have to remove the engine cover THROUGH that mess of tangled wire harnesses. It takes 2 hours by itself to just GET to that stuff. 30 seconds to swap out the switch.

I had the opportunity to convert it to a LMM duramax but I decided against it because I wanted a more reliable engine setup and I didn't want to have to re-engineer the entire driveline with upgraded shafts and gears to handle the dmax.

The only Dem Utopia things Bernie is maybe squishy on are Open Borders and Foreign Trade Policy.

There are four large questions that everyone asks at one time or another:

1) Who am I?, 2) Why am I here? 3) Why is the world messed up? 4) Is there a way to fix it?

Socialists/Secularists answer 4) with "more education and government".

Education is why we have Common Core and this huge push to keep people, for as long as possible in an education program - for all of the rest, you need to be controlled and managed by government that knows best.

279 People falsely equate insurance with healthcare. EMTALA assures that emergency treatment cannot be "denied" and emergency is open to interpretation. Hospitals eat a lot of uncompensated care.

Locally, in NJ, the urgent care centers actually do take cash. A two view xray, if you pay with a card or cash is 115.00 for example. Many big pharmacies give you very low cost antibiotics as well.

This notion of Americans dying in the street from infections is stupid. The fact that this lie is perpetrated might be what deters people from seeking care at all.

A few years back, when I was still working, a new MSW presented at work with an obvious infection but stated she was unable to be treated as she was not yet on the hospital's plan. She, a medical social worker, was unaware that medical groups took cash and that treatment for what turned out to be strep would not bankrupt her.

281 Regarding the "Real ID" B.S.

Probably because everyone feels that a having a medical issue is "unfair". Sort of like many "intersectionalist" biological women who find it unfair that their physical condition requires them to purchase female specific products while biological males do not.

"I have this condition and you don't - it's not fair, I shouldn't have to carry this burden myself." also translates into "You are wealthier than me, its not fair you shouldn't hoard it all for yourself."

I don't care about wounded criminals. As for the mentally ill and paranoid drug users, they often avoid treatment. We used to get them, commit them, treat them, provide them with a discharge plan that often included a place to live. They rapidly went off their meds and back to threatening behavior and street drugs. I will give my home state some cred for Involuntary Outpatient Commitment, which has helped with some of this backsliding with the mentally ill

Many groups gladly inform illegals about EMTALA.

And, given the history of communist leaders, it should worry him. "Oh, Comrade Burnie has had a bad cold, that's why he hasn't been seen for the last couple of years".

Pope Francis has done a great service to the Church.

He has exposed its corrupt elements far better than any reformer could have hoped. I was among the many who assumed that the abusive priests were an aberration, but Francis' actions have shown that there was in fact a Lavender Mafia and that certain leaders deliberately shielded them from being held to account.

For this we should be profoundly grateful, because now we see the problem clearly. Until we had that, reform would have been impossible.

364 Yeah, nothing at all suspicious about that death,
right? He was talking to DHS about going back to work there, and he was
getting married in a few months. So obviously he had nothing to look
forward to in his life. Why not just drive out to the middle of nowhere
and shoot himself in the head? Makes perfect sense! And it's surely
just a happy coincidence that he was a major critic of the Obama
administration's practice of erasing islamic terrorists' records so that
they could obtain all sorts of nice U.S. government jobs and benefits,
not to mention access to classified information.

Yeah, nothing suspicious here at all. Just move along, folks.

Nobody. Around here every hospital has signs in both English and Spanish that says it is against the law to deny anyone healthcare even if they can't pay for it or have no insurance.

And there is usually a phone number you can call to report the hospital if they turn you away for not being able to pay.

386 EMTALA is not the issue

It's how much you are on the hook for for the services
Last year had to call 911 for the kid
Ambulance ride (2 miles, no treatment during the ride, just transport) was around a thousand bucks
We have a high deductible plan do I had to pay out of pocket
911 EMTs are township selected and basically a monopoly do they charge what they charge
One hour at ER for dx of a virus would gsve been another thousand, but insurance negotiated rare got it down to 600

Access to care is there
Feeling helpless about how much it can cost is also there

390 Here is the thing about commie Anders and the other socialist democrats national healthcare nightmare pipe dream. You take one look at the British health system and you would fucki g s team. Last night I watched a hulu show 30 inches at 18. About a british girl with a rare dwarfism syndrome. Her bone growing plates fused at.about three years old. To boot her femur heads are shaped like a 20 sided dice not round. She is basically in chronic pain. In the USA I bet she would have two shiney titanium balls and sockets. In Britain. The tried to ablate the heads. And then said swim therapy and all the morphine and oxycodone you can stomach. As a fella who has had deformed femur head replaced and know how it makes the pain go away I was screaming at the tv because it was so sad. All the doctors were like nope. Nothing else we can do. Their solution was ablate the area and then let fibrous scar tissue fill the void in the joint that they created. WTF?

No, the Church has not embraced liberation theology since the 1950s at least. A few rogue bishops in Latin American countries were subscribers to this anti-Catholic philosophy. In case you missed it, John Paul II, himself a victim of both Nazis and Communists, advocated strongly against all forms of Communism, and was credited with Ronald Reagan of being instrumental in bringing down the Berlin Wall.

I *get* that you are biased against Catholics, so of course, FOR YOU...it isn't about who is Pope now.
