If leaking classified information is all right for an FBI director and his deputy, why could it end up getting Henry Kyle Frese up to 10 years in prison? Frese, 31, is a former Defense Intelligence Agency employee pled guilty on Thursday “to charges related to his disclosure of classified national defense information (NDI) to two journalists in 2018 and 2019,” according to a Department of Justice news release. The press release said that Frese had transmitted classified information about defense capabilities to two journalists on dozens of occasions, in addition to passing information to an overseas consultant.

Global warming and additional CO2 are benefiting humankind today and will still be a net benefit for many years to come. Someday, if the worst climate change computer projections turn out to be true, there may be a net cost. To compute the cost of global warming we need to determine the net present value of the current and future benefits (negative costs) and the net present value of the possible future costs, after multiplying the possible future costs by the probability that they may occur. This calculation needs to be done at some chosen future date, the date should be far enough in the future that some positive costs could occur, but not so far in the future as to invalidate our climate and economic projections. Obviously, the longer in the future that we project the climate and its impacts, the less certain we are that they are valid. If the result is a negative cost number, then we have a net benefit to humankind and if positive we may have a problem if the cost is too high. Sounds simple enough, but the process is fraught with problems. In the words of IPCC:

That snowblower on the front of a truck is no big deal up north, at least for government road crews. They have had those for decades.They use them, with dump tricks, to cut down / cut back the snowbanks as the winter goes on and on.
Listen to the sounds of the guy's footsteps. That's the sound of snow when it's really cold. In the movie, "Nobody's Fool", that sound comes and goes, often during one day of the story, because scenes were filmed out of order for the story itself.

While I could be wrong, I have a gut feeling that if the stuff were really all that infectious we'd be seeing massive numbers of cases elsewhere by now, and we're not.
It may only be a problem in places with China-like population densities. That will suck for the Netherlands, but pretty much no where else outside of Asia.

If you really believe that, I see only one reasonable course of action. "Carbon neutrality" is not possible with causing probably billions of people to die. That is unacceptable. So instead, the right answer is to decontrol *everything.* Scrap all regulations, most taxes, all trade restrictions, all environmental controls, all of it. Maximize production at all costs and do it right now.
Work to improve the quality of life for as many people as humanly possible in the time we have left. Stockpile as much as possible for the future, and if you're feeling really ambitious try to seriously colonize a foreign body like the moon.
But if we're really about to cross the line and we can't help *but* cross it, then rape the Earth now to make it as good as we can make it in the time we have left. Production for its own sake and at all costs with no consideration of externalities is the best answer I have come up with.
I don't advocate this position, though, because the premise is bullshit.

The point is to make life harder for the normies, and especially the working class normies.
The town I moved to recently banned bags....and I noticed my neighbors now buy the bags they used to get for free (for doggie doo and wastebaskets) and toss out the bigger, bulkier paper bags.
Just ban shipping "recyclables" going overseas and you've got the actual problem solved. If liberals want to recycle plastic by all means lets build some facilities in the tonier neighborhoods in New Yuck and Mexifornia.

I am not an active stock investor. I own a decent chunk of my own company (we have a lucrative employee-purchase program) that I wish I could sell but can't yet. But dividends are key. I guess I'm an old-school "value investor" at my core. What's the point of owning a piece of a company if you don't get to it share in the profits?

A Ph.D. student in "poetics" at SUNY Buffalo shared her tale of woe. She cut herself slicing bread, went to the ER, and was treated and released.
The she got a bill for $1400 - discounted to $650 for the university health insurance company, which paid $625. She had to pay $25 to go to the ER.
She thinks this means we need Medicare For All, because apparently emergency rooms won't be so expensive then, even if she only had to pay $25 under our evil, corrupt health care system.
Or maybe's she's complaining about having to pay the $25 - it's hard to tell.

There is a (Texas?) DJ named John Clay Wolfe who has a syndicated show on the local oldies station weekend mornings, that I would catch on the drive down to daughter and SIL's place to babysit.
He has a theory that every song of Young's could have the lyrics subbed out with "I slammed my peter in a bathroom door", and work just as well.
One Sunday morning, headed down 234 south at a good clip, I was laughing so hard I damn near wrecked the car as he offered, for proof, his own karaoke clip of "Heart of Gold" with the following:

The scream is also a bit misleading, but still hilarious. The microphone was a direct feed into the video rather than arena speakers. The crowd is getting louder with their cheering which is causing Dean to get louder because he can't hear himself over the cheering and then it results in his psychotic "YEEEARGH!" which probably still would have been mocked if you couldn't hear it as clearly as we did.

Years ago, in the mid-80s, the dentist that my then wife and I used asked me what it would take to get a job working on the factory floor at the DuPont facility in Waynesboro, VA. I asked her why. She said that she wanted to throw over dentistry and take p something less burdensome. I assured her that a fiber spinning plant's factory floor was in no way less burdensome, but I said she'd be welcome to apply for a job there.
I do not know if she ever did apply -- we were there for only two years -- but she was relatively new in practice, married and had, I think, one kid. Oddest thing that I had ever encountered in the employment sphere up to that point.

In thinking about this, I would speculate that the surgeon is focusing on the upcoming details of the surgery, not the last time she peed.
And once she starts, she doesn't get a 15 minute break like a retail postal clerk, some of those surgeries take many hours.
But guessing that when this happens repeatedly, nurse can't just give the surgeon a backhand and in her best Cher-like voice, say "Snap out of it!".

Lucent Technologies, when they were around, had their employee 401(k)'s in Lucent stock. Looked great at $79 a share, not so good at $.50 a share. I watched "Spring," a movie from the same folks who made "The Endless" and "Resolution."
Both of those movies I recommend, "Endless" more than "Resolution."
But anyway, "Spring" was...unexpected. Unexpectedly sweet, which was odd. Well worth seeing if you're in the mood.
I'd rate the guys' work as "The Endless," followed by "Spring" and then "Resolution" at the bottom.
"Resolution" is good, it's just filled with unpleasant characters. "The Endless" has some good thought behind it and is far more thought-provoking.
And "Spring"...it's just as I said, very sweet. Difficult to do when there's a horrific monster at the center of the story, but the film pulls it off.
I'd recommend all three, really.

Get a Texas map, and a sharpie pen.
Draw an odd, kidney-bean shaped ovoid around Bandera, Kerrville, Fredricksburg (as far west as Harper, actually), and on North & East to encompass Marble Falls and Burnet. Throw Llano in that mix, just because.

You can go a bit closer to the D/FW area and investigate the area in and around Corsicana, site of the Tx Mo Meet. It fits your criteria, but will be in the path of Southward growth of the D/FW megaplex. Likely, the next decade will see the nature of the Town Center change, and not for the better.
You can do all the "online" research on those towns as you want. But you're going to have to fly in, rent a car and go check 'em all out in person, to get a true sense of the world, here.

It was probably what he had available. Note that adopting the separate engine was probably easier than trying to work up a PTO from the truck. I also suspect that the blower uses a good bit of power. Also, the blower portion runs at constant speed, to blow the snow away, that would not be the case with a PTO.

I am moving in April, I think. To a studio apartment, it's funky and basement-ish. Living alone in a rental studio was not in the original plan of life, but.... whatever.
I just heard from the owner of the four plex. She was deciding if her no pet policy was written in stone and I would not be able to move in with Lucy.
She determined that anyone who would give up a critter for a place to live wasn't the sort of person she wanted to be there in the first place.
So I may be moving in April.

I'm with you on dynasties but think about it, log. Another Trump vs some loser traitor Republican (the most likely other option) is a no-brainer.
Plus the movement is very powerful. You get someone in 2024 who is still drawing those "Trump" crowds? That's a big deal.
The Left will kill this movement the moment it shows any weakness. Pence getting 1,200 people to a rally is not gonna be a good look.

Here's how I deal with the stuff. If it's something I love, I keep it. If I can't stand it or have no use for it, it's donated or thrown out. That leaves the maybes. If it's something sentimental, do you have to keep the object? Or would a picture serve to keep the memory. If I'm really not sure about something, I keep it.
I have to try and figure out what should go to my stepson. He doesn't have a lot of space. And I'm making myself get rid of somethings. I have this electrical manual from maybe 1920 that my first husband got. I think it's time to let go of it.
What helped us the most was deciding if something was "Tennessee worthy". Those are my keepers.

Since bags, be they paper or plastic, contain a lot of carbon, why is throwing them in a landfill bad, exactly? Does that not amount to "sequestering" carbon, which is supposed to be a Good Thing?

The Springfield has a Hart 7x57, 20 in. barrel, 1:8 twist, medium spotter contour, on order.
And I just got a bag of 100 stripper-clips for the .30-06 rounds, which will as it happens, fit perfectly on the 7x57 rims.
In that it's got a truck-gun future, I'm looking at drilling/tapping the front receiver ring for a short section of Picatinny, and a red-dot sight thereon.
Co-witnessed with Iron sights, mounted to the new barrel. Factory locatons, but height-aligned to work with the red dot.
Leaving the rear receiver ring untouched, with stripper-clip guides intact.
It's all going into a cheap, but action bedded, floated barrel, Ram Line injected stock.
All I as is Minute of Antifa at 200 yards.
I'll call that a success.

How many years has the left been telling Americans that illegal aliens don't get taxpayer-funded benefits, so we shouldn't be complaining about that? Of course, anybody who has been paying attention at all knows that's a crock of shit, and has been for many years. Illegals apply for and receive billions of dollars' worth of many different types of welfare benefits in the U.S.
Now lefty "activist" groups are screaming (much like that totes impartial SCOTUS justice Sotomayor) that Trump is "punishing immigrants" by trying to enforce the law that says foreigners who can't or won't support themselves and are sucking down U.S. welfare benefits (i.e. "public charges") should not get green cards.
The activists also say that Trump is making poverty in the U.S. worse by denying these poor, impoverished illegal aliens the taxpayer-funded welfare benefits like food stamps and Medicaid that they need. But why should American taxpayers be incentivizing the poor from other nations to come and live here, on the backs of working Americans? That's insane, and it is exactly what the Obama administration and previous administrations were doing, with entirely predictable results: more poor, welfare-seeking illegals coming here to live off us.
Trump is trying to put a stop to it, and it's long overdue. Trump is not "punishing immigrants," contrary to Ms. Sotomayor's shrieking, he is instead "protecting U.S. taxpayers" from the massive abuse they've been suffering at the hands of illegal aliens for decades now.

In recent months, maybe two year, there has been an observe phenomena taking place throughout Maryland town halls ad community meetings.
When a progressive office holder is here to discuss their progressive plans to increase spending, there is ALWAYS a member of the audience who will be recognized by the speaker to share their thoughts.
And inevitably, this person, with the physical appearance similar to the greater number of attendees will stand up and thank the politician/candidate for wanting to raise their own personal taxes, as they are delighted to contribute more toward rescuing the downtrodden from their meager existence.
This happens EVERY time there is one of these events.
And having attended many such events, it is always the same faces, as if they are traveling the same appearance circuit as the invited guest/speaker is.
Now figure the odds that buried within this latest poll, only THREE percent of Marylanders want to see their taxes increased.
Yet these folk show up at every Town Hall, preaching the same thanks for hiking their taxes.
Almost as if it's an orchestrated dog and pony show, to fool the rubes.

Stunk to high heaven, but I don't think they make that in Groton anymore. Does anyone know if Pfizer moved that antibiotic production overseas? How 'ironic', if so.

Pfizer abandoned it's World HQ in New London the minute the City tax breaks ran out.
That whole thing was an orchestrated disaster as the President of the New London Development Corp Claire Gauidini was married to the Assistant VP of Pfizer in New London.
They stole hundreds of millions from the City of New London and everyone just stood there and watched them do it.

Do know where your talking about but don't know about em moving that.. I know they started acquiring a lot of cosmetic and other beauty
businesses to move there.. Friend of mine lived there and worked in the
micro biology and med test area's they moved accross the river as soon as they could afford out of Groton..
