EMT 2/22/20

Today is going to be a delight.

14 of lil' girls bestest friends are coming over at 9:30 this morning for her 6th birthday celebration.

I'm sure they will be nothing short of polite and well behaved and emotionally balanced in those ways that only kindergartners can be.

My wife has already hidden away all the pointies and sharps which is going to make stabbing myself in the jugular far more difficult than is humane. Crayons are notoriously inefficient instruments of self destruction.

I had to click on that, since I know Loftus is actually on the more right-hand side of the political divide and once said that he was told his idea for a sitcom was wonderful, but because it slammed the right and the left, it would never be greenlighted.

As far as I can see, Vic, the story actually says that Loftus says people who criticize Trump for praising GWTW are suffering from "end-stage Trump Derangement Syndrome." He isn't slamming Trump.

Yes.

They are basically at their best in 5th grade.

When each one of my daughters got into 5th grade, my wife and I looked at each other and said "Okay, we raised *this one* right. Look how calm and responsible she is!"

The last time I rode a gayhound was in 1979. I was working at the Sears and could not get off until day before Christmas. I was going from Dallas to Shreveport. First thing is some guys were harassing a blind girl so I went and sat by her telling them to fuck off. She got off in Longview I think. Bus quit about 2 miles from station. So I grabbed my backpack and started walking.

I walked up to my dads car and got in. They (dad, cousin and uncle) were all laughing as my cous had said hey look who is walking up the road and dad and uncle thot is was a joke.

I went to a Catholic Grammar School for 8 years.

There were sixty some kids in my class, mostly girls, mebbe 18 boys.

The girls were quiet, polite, 'bout what you'd expect of them

We get to the 6th grade, and a new boy transfers in mid-year. And the girls thought he was THE ONE !
(I thought there were boys already in the class that were better looking, but hey, what do I know.)

After his first day of class, he leaves, and ALL of the girls hung around and took turns sitting in his seat, and rubbing their bums on it and giggling and squealing.

A couple of us boys were watching this show and wondering wtf was with our girls ?

But unlikely. Eastwood is tight with studios and will not have problems with financing -- unless he starts straying so far into un-PC world as to become intolerable. But in that case, Bloomberg wouldn't finance him either.

Eastwood has simply never politically unequivocal, and probably is losing a certain acuity with age.

Now, that I think about it-

Common epidemiological practice and common sense went out the window with the AIDS/HIV epidemic.

And it's been that way ever since.

Quarantine is primary weapon number one in the battle against an incurable disease that's spreading.

When Ebola broke out in Africa a couple of years ago, the CDC could hardly wait to dump patients in the US.

Same with that mysterious polio like virus that was crippling kids during Obama's reign of terror.

Quarantine and isolate? Stop bringing in diseased illegal aliens?

Nope. Open the food gates.

So, bringing Chinese Murder Virus into the US?

But, of course!

Probably quarantine at Gitmo or maybe the Aleutians would've been a much better idea. Or leaving them in place.

202 For me the real dividing line is between those who "get" Trump as a man, an individual (and by extension, a leader) and those who don't. Of course it's political, but it's more personal and psychological for me.

---

This is actually a very good point. It's easy for me to "get him." And because of that, his twatters doesn't bother me. Coarse around the edges and not a ruffled hanky sniffer, sure. But that's really not stuff I care about. Decorum (fwiw, which isn't much), means exactly zero to me when my country is literally hanging in the balance. The NTs who can't see that just leave me shaking my head.

He must really dislike Donald Trump, which is a freaking shame considering all of the great things Trump has been doing for everybody. You'd think it'd be easy to see, but maybe "mean" words negate it all. I'm sorely disappointed in Eastwood as I thought he was more attuned to this country's tenuous grip on its founding Constitution and all. I get it. He never was Rush Limbaugh conservative. Still, I thought he understood more than he apparently does. My bad.

First off, this is a reported conversation in the back of a car with a WaPo reporter, it's not an endorsement. They were shooting the shit and he didn't diss Trump he just said the tweets were unfortunate.

And he kind of likes Mike. Why not, Clint was also a mayor and thinks that mayoring is like presidenting and is good training. He may not follow every political zit the way we do. He's 90 and has an actual life.

So he says something vague in a car to an unreliable reporter (WaPo, res ipsa loquitor) and you assclowns are ready to throw Dirty Josie Unforgiven under the Gran Torino?

If that's all it takes, a scene depicting a black slave, then there are a lot of movies that need to be cancelled. The Color Purple, Roots...

357 SAUERBRATEN

Marinade: Combine 1 1/2 cups water; 1 1/2 cups red wine vinegar; 2 medium onions, sliced; 1 lemon, sliced; 12 whole cloves; 6 whole black peppercorns, crushed; 4 bay leaves, crushed; 1 tablespoon sugar; 1 tablespoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger.

1 4-pound boneless beef round rump roast
2 tablespoons cooking oil
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped carrot
1/4 cup chopped celery
1 cup crushed gingersnaps

Prepare marinade. Place meat in a plastic bag; set in a shallow pan. Pour marinade over meat; close bag. Refrigerate 72 hours, turning meat occasionally. Remove meat; pat excess moisture from meat. Strain marinade; set aside. In a Dutch oven brown meat on all sides in hot oil. Drain off fat. Add reserved marinade, chopped onion, carrot, and celery. Cover; simmer about 2 hours or until meat is tender. Transfer meat to a platter, keep warm. Reserve 2 cups cooking liquid and vegetables in Dutch oven (you can put this in a blender first to puree the veggies). Stir in gingersnaps and 2/3 cup water. Cook and stir until thickened and bubbly. Serve with meat and spaetzle. Serves 12.

I'm battling Fidelity this year. Could not find an itemized list that I thought should be in the statement, so I called the help desk.* Once I got to a very nice lady and explained the problem, she said "Oh you just need to look at page 4 of that statement."
I said in a calm voice, "Well I am looking at page 4, and it says "This page intentionally left blank!'"
She said "Oops, oopsie, lets look on-line!"
After some navigation through the web site, we found the form, and sure enough there was the information I needed, just not in the printed official from Fidelity.
I asked for a revised hard copy!

*Pro-tip, I learned that if you curse at the Fidelity automated operator/screener long and hard enough it will route you to an actual person.

Heat 2 tablespoons bacon drippings or cooking oil in a big saucepan or Dutch oven. Add 4 cups shredded red cabbage and 2 cups cubed unpeeled apple, stirring to coat. Cover and cook over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally. That's a realm where someone on the spectrum could thrive. And he seems genuinely baffled when people don't just like him. That could be either that he's insulated himself with his wealth, or that he's on the spectrum, or both.

From the info I'm seeing, he was a gay dude, and she was well aware of this when she married him. She described him as being "like a sister".

Pretty common back in those days for gay dudes to arrange some kind of sham marriage.

That's their best option and probably why they brought in the Superdelegates after the first vote.

They might go for someone who is part of a big contingent of their donating donors-

Maybe Buttigieg cuz teh Gheys give a lot of moolah to the Dims. A lot.

Or Hillary! or Warren for the Crazy Cat Lady Contingent cuz they also give a lot of bucks.

Then they can sigh and say "we tried but (fill in the Blank) Americans aren't ready for a (fill in the blank President)."
