Roger Stone Update: "Mueller Crony" Behind 7-to-9 Year Prison Sentence Proposal Withdraws from Case;
Also Resigns as Federal Prosecutor In Drama-Queen Flounce
Another Mueller Prosecutor Resigns, Too

Deb Heine has some background:

Not surprisingly, most of the assistant U.S. attorneys and prosecutors on the case--Jonathan Kravis, Michael Marando, Aaron Zelinsky and Adam C. Jed--have impressive liberal credentials. From 2009 to 2010, Kravis served as Associate Counsel to then-President Obama. He is now deputy chief of the fraud and public corruption section in the U.S. attorney’s office for the District of Columbia, where Marando also works.

Zelinsky and Jed are both former members of Mueller's team. Last year, former Trump campaign adviser Michael Caputo accused Zelinsky of trying to ensnare him in a process crime when he was interviewed by the special counsel team in May of 2018.

She also noted the objections to the "obscene" over-sentence:

"This is completely insane, and these prosecutors should be embarrassed to request something so unjust and outrageous from the court How many years will they ask McCabe to get sentenced to?" tweeted former CIA analyst Buck Sexton."“He lied under oath. But the answer is ZERO."

President Trump himself decried the sentence, calling it "disgraceful" on Twitter, spurring speculation that a pardon was in the works for his former associate. "This is a horrible and very unfair situation,” the president wrote in another late-night tweet. "The real crimes were on the other side, as nothing happens to them. Cannot allow this miscarriage of justice!"

Aaron Zelinksy was also a Huffington Post contributor, so you know he's on the up-and-up.

Deb reminds me that someone -- I don't know who -- ordered that El-Chapo-level SWAT raid on the meager Stone residence, rather than just asking him to surrender himself for arrest and processing.

And someone also leaked it to CNN to have cameras there to videotape the dramatic raid.

I guess the FBI feels that it has to ask for a lengthy prison sentence given that it ordered a black ops raid just to arrest a 67 year old man.

Zelinsky was either removed from the case, or removed himself when he was countermanded by his superiors:

In his motion telling the court he was off the case, Zelinsky also told the court -- in an irrelevant aside that seems calculated to prejudice the court against the defendant in future sentencing decisions -- that he was also resigning from the DOJ entirely:

"The Court is advised that the undersigned attorney has resigned effective immediately after this filing as a Special Assistant United States Attorney for District of Columbia."

Good. Another Deep Stater flounced his own soy ass out the door.

UPDATE: ANOTHER ONE FLOUNCES! Via Tami, Mueller crony Jonathan Kravis also resigned as Special Assistant US Attorney. (Which I think means an Assistant US Attorney, but not one appointed through the normal means (by the president), but by the Special Counsel.)

Deb Heine says that Kravis served as Associate Counsel to Obama, 2009-2010.

UPDATE! Sean Davis also has fresh reporting:

Sources told The Federalist that Timothy Shea, who was recently appointed to take over as the top federal prosecutor in D.C. earlier this month, was bullied into agreeing to the sentence recommendation by Adam Jed and Aaron Zelinsky, who were originally tapped by Mueller to investigate whether Donald Trump treasonously colluded with the Russian government to steal the 2016 election from Hillary Clinton. A full investigative report released by Mueller last year revealed that the Mueller investigation found zero evidence for any of the claims of collusion between Trump and the Russians. According to a separate report on serial abuses committed by the Department of Justice (DOJ) during its investigation of Trump, the DOJ inspector general found that the government knew long before Mueller was even appointed that there was no evidence of any collusion.

Shea’s acquiescence to the demand by the disgruntled former Mueller operatives raised questions about whether Shea was operationally in control of the D.C. prosecutor’s office, or whether he had effectively outsourced major decisions in high-profile cases to Mueller’s former deputies.

UPDATE! A THIRD MUELLER ROGUE PROSECUTOR RESIGNS: Now Aaron Jed has resigned.

There's a fourth, a guy named Marando who I'm told was part of the fake prosecution of Imran Awan, who has not resigned yet, but who might.

It appears that they're all resigning together to generate a news story -- and to create a fresh pretext for a new Special Counsel.

And what a coincidence...!

Chuck Schumer just seized on the totally-not-coordinated group resignation to demand a Special Counsel:

@SenSchumer

The DOJ Inspector General must open an investigation immediately.

I will be sending a formal request to the IG shortly.

Uncertainty as to what happens with Zelinksy's other cases (see photo) - but would likely be off this case as well.

If it was up to me I would disban the FBI and use the Federal Marshal Service to handle actual federal crimes. As for the DOJ it just needs a severe house cleaning.

113 OK, some new thinking here.

We have what I call and "epi-legal" system.

If you know about genetics, you know about epigentics, a mechanism which turns on or off certain genes based on environment. So the DNA stays the same, but there is a layer above that which controls if those genes are effective.

Well, we have that in or legal system, and it is no good. We have the deep state, which decides which laws are "turned on" or off in any circumstances. DNA is the code. The law. But epigenetics allows adaptation of that code for certain necessary reactions.

But in law, we either have rule-of-law, or rule-of-man. We do not want some higher layer interpreting which laws apply. This is how the deep state has corrupted our system.

It happens at every level. At the supreme court all the way down to the local prosecutor deciding who to charge. This epi-layer has to be minimized and transparent or it is just a side door into rule-of-man and tyranny.

Yes, good analysis. An older term for this general phenomenon is that there is "Hidden Law," law that is not expressly stated and in fact publicly denied by the players in this game, which the public is not entitled to know about, but which says that only SOME people are subject to the law's penalties, and others are immune.

Stone's kind of a shady character anyways, but any pardons coming will follow the usual path: either an hour before the term ends if Trump loses or right after he takes the oath of office for his second term.

I imagine Trump will issues pardons.

What do leftists do? They repeatedly double down on stupid actions because they cannot accept that they failed or were wrong.

Example what is the cure to failing schools in 1976--more money
What is the cure to failing schools in 2019--more money

What is the policy that will fix immigration--amnesty 1986
What is the policy that will fix immigration--amnesty 2020

What is the cure to socialism--1920--Can't beat em, join em
What is the cure to socialism--2020--Can't beat em, join em

Leftists do not "learn" other than to dissemble better about their policy goals. They learn nothing from failures in the real world because they always put it off on failures of narrative or implementation--not the ideas themselves.

That is why the Lawfare group are idiots about politics and their ability to manipulate the political process. They literally think that they are the smartest guys in the room and their virtue is endless. That will surely carry the day this time.

Posted by: Sebastian Melmoth at February 11, 2020 04:27 PM (OVJcF)

A recap - that summer Trump had asked Chris Christy to put together candidates for his transition team, since Christy supposedly had all the DC and GOP contacts. Shortly after he was elected, Trump and his top people found that Christy had filled all the lists with Christy stooges and devotees, who apparently were being set up to look to Christy to run things. (he apparently thought he was going to be AG) So THIS is why the big blowup with Christy happened, and *all* the transition team was thrown in the trash with just a few weeks til inauguration.

Mike Pence was given the job of handling, but that wasn't fair since he was from Indiana and wasn't part of the DC crowd, so that's when Rince Priebus and Bannon started fighting it out daily, to see who could get most of their friends in.

302 269. Mark Edwards,
I remember his radio show that he had for awhile. He was an interesting dude and worked closely with one of the original FBI black bag spooks hired by J. Edgar.

When I first started watching CSPAN way WAY back, they were getting set to do a live broadcast of Liddy's radio show. But they turned on the cameras about 10 minutes early (apparently there wasn't anything else in the pipe that they could put on air). So I was treated to 10 minutes of Liddy sitting in the studio eating a salad before the show.

349 The thing is is that if you are trying to take out deep state or something similar, you need time to find out who is in the network and who is working with whom.

When you discover a spy network, as in ww2, you do not run out and arrest the first spy, you wait to get all of them.

My guess is that this is what we were waiting for.

552 I don't believe there's any need to be afraid of any new impeachment effort based on this. 3 or 4 disgruntled employees resigned, big deal. They weren't fired, they weren't forced. And the sentencing guideline request *was* excessive, that's also objectively true. So there's nothing here, except that Dems are pissed off again.

An option Trump has with Stone - wait for the sentence, then allow the conviction to stand, but commute the sentence to "Time Served" with immediate release. That'll drive the dems crazy but won't be a full pardon, making it even harder for them to attack.

If that's the case as to these guys who resigned so very dramatically today, then I guess the bad news would be that rather than being unemployed, they'll be retreating to some other spot in the Deep State.

594 Keep on keeping on you government twits!

Now don't go feeling sorry for them. I'm certain that cushy "of counsel" slots have been lined up for them in the Washington D.C. office of Perkins Coie--the Hillary funded law firm that ginned up the Steele dossier.

595 Gentlemen, this is democracy manifest said...

Why do you think George Soros has been pumping so many millions $$$ into state and federal prosecutor races across the country... prosecutors are the level at which exists the power of discretion to decide when and which laws to apply against a prospective citizens... if laws are never applied against someone on your team and always applied with maximum prejudice against the other team, then that is how you end up with a two-tiered justice system in a nation built on the theory of rule-of-law vs rule-of-men

598 It appears that they're all resigning together to generate a news story -- and to create a fresh pretext for a new Special Counsel.

If Trump allows another special prosecutor's office to form, I will have to seriously reassess my position that he is very intelligent.

Unless he puts Rudy in as Special Counsel.

I assume he's trolling for urban unrest to get more power to the city governments...not as likely to happen as the old Nazi thinks.

600 Hey, Muellar drones,

1. What are the sentencing guidelines for this crime?

2. Were you higher than that?

3. If yes, GTFO.

This is where we are.

So long as cops can lie to us, it absolutely should be the case that we have the right to lie to them also.
