Democrat Party Successfully Rigs Iowa Caucuses; "Final" Results Claim That Bootygieg Won 14 Delegates to Sanders' 12

Sanders beat Bootygag by six thousand votes in, you know, actual votes. Sanders won 43,671 to 37,557 in the "first alignment" of votes and was still ahead of Bootygag 45,826 votes to 43,195 in the "second alignment," after voters from "nonviable candidates" shifted to other candidates (and mostly shifted to Bootygag).

Result? Bootygag wins.

Somehow.

The Iowa Democratic Party announced Sunday that Pete Buttigieg has won 14 delegates and Bernie Sanders will be awarded 12, following the party's disastrous first-in-the-nation caucuses last week that have been plagued with apparent inaccuracies in crucial voting data.

Less than an hour after the results posted, the Sanders campaign announced that it would seek a partial recanvass of some precincts in which there were apparent irregularities, Fox News has confirmed. The Iowa Democratic Party has allowed campaigns to call for a recanvass until Monday at 1:00 p.m. ET.

25 OT - a case I'm following, that no one else is, certainly not the MSM (what a shocka!) is the Avenatti trial, in the Nike extortion case. Prosecution laid out a good case, Avenatti demanded that the Judge strictly limit the content of any questions asked of him on the stand - Judge refused. So Avenatti has refused to testify at all in his own defense. (a defendant always has the right to choose that, although it is usually a bad move) Closing arguments should come today. I don't think it looks good for Avenatti.

and this isn't even the big trial, this is just the warmup.

It bears repeating: any downtown merchant in Milwaukee who isn't looking into roll-down steel shutters for his store front should get his head examined.

'Cause Bernie is gonna get screwed again.

If his Bros get pissed off enough to launch a major third-party effort (with or without the permission Bernie himself), it's gonna be a thing of beauty. Trump might even win California in that scenario.

As an Iowan, I think the process is fine. Very "Midwestern". The Republican-side isn't quite the clusterfuck, as everyone gathers, reps for each candidate speak, and then everyone just votes once. After they tally and announce the results, they try to encourage people to stick around to be state delegates, attend future party meetings, etc.

I "live-posted" here from my precinct in 2016. Good times.

Harvard (friends with Zuckerberg), Oxford/Rhodes Scholar, McKinsey, Military intelligence, worked for Cohen Group (nat. sec.), Aspen Institute fellow (Soros), on the board of Truman Project for National Security (member sonce ~2005, funded by Ploughshares - Obama's Iran deal echo chamber), and so on.
He has a lot of DC and Silicon Valley friends, the right kind of friends IYKWIM.

They gave up control of the DNC in 2016 in order to keep the Sanders fans happy. It didn't matter, Hillary was going to win the presidency and could wipe out the crazies whenever she wanted after November.

She loses, and suddenly these crazies are still in the DNC.

They can't fix anything because the civil war of the Democratic Party is within the Party organizations themselves.

They couldn't clear the field. They can't push anyone out. There's probably more discord behind the scenes than we're seeing out in the open.

343 This is of course why they won't ditch a caucus. Democrats love being able to use it to game the system. In 2008 they were used to give Obama enough delegates for the superdelegates to give him the nomination. In 2016 they were manipulated to give Hillary the win over Bernie. And now they're doing it again. Expect Nevada to be a cluster as well with Sanders winding up with fewer delegates than his vote count would indicate, either having the most votes and being second or being second and getting the third most delegates or significantly less than first place.

The Iowa Caucuses are way more accurate at picking the eventual Dem winner than they are at picking the eventual GOP winner.

In recent decades, it's been running about 70% accuracy on the D side.

So it's not a guarantee, but it's not nothing, either.

That's essentially how Trump won the nomination, and he walked into the convention with a clear majority of delegates.

It all depends on how things are proportioned. If he's winning races with 40% and no one else is getting above 15%, he's winning all the delegates.

463 Biden leaving NH seems to be signalling that his run is done and with money, demoralized workers, and Joe's mental disintegration, the centrists will be looking for a new savior.

Thus, we have Mayor Pete, Angry Amy, and Mayor Mikey.

On the left is a fading Warren and a rising Bernie.

NH, NV, and SC will winnow out a survivor between Mayor Pete and Angry Amy and on the left between Warren and Bernie.

Then we have Mayor Mikey vs. centrist poser to be named later for Super Tuesday and probably Bernie.

The risk for Mayor Mikey is that he is not a people person and is depending solely on money spent in personnel and advertising. I doubt his workers have much passion for him beyond a paycheck. I really see the same problem for Mayor Petey, Angry Amy, and Lieawatha. People may get intellectually invested but not passionate.

Bernie's folks, have the passion to go the distance because they want their paradise on earth via socialism now without equivocation. The others in the Dem race want to keep that in the shade to keep from getting clobbered in the general except for Mayor Mikey who hates the idea.

Absent some awful events, I really think that Trump has this and the major issue is whether or not he can retake the House and keep the Senate and affect state races for redistricting in 2021.

Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at February 11, 2020 02:02 PM (KZzsI)

We're the ones that are out of touch, Chris. We think people know who Vindman, Flynn and Bolton are. Truthfully most people barely know Ted Kennedy was a Democrat.

488 And yet Pink eye spreads like crazy.
Posted by: Don Q, USN Ret. at February 11, 2020 01:58 PM (NgKpN)

If you don't take precautions, yes. My kid brother got pink eye lots of times when he was a child because he was a dirty little brat who picked up all kinds of shit with his unwashed hands. I was in the bedroom next to him and I've never had pink eye because I kept the hell away from him when he had it, didn't touch him and washed my hands.

489 Mitt Romney
45s

After much prayerful soul-searching and following consultations with my family, I've reached the heart-wrenching decision to solemnly support whoever is the Democrat Party's nominee for president in the general election against the President.
I think it's important that each one of us has a duty to look inside our souls in search of what we will tell our grandchildren when history records what we did when it's time to stand before our Creator and answer for our worldly sins both of commission and omission and seek the answers in the words of old Protestant hymns to guide us on our mission as we seek the answers to to unasked questions and history's judgement and under the guidance of Providence
Amen

490 We're the ones that are out of touch, Chris.

That doesn't make us out of touch, it makes us unusually well-informed.

491 IMHO Creepy Pete (and the other Creepy Pete) are so 'Practically Perfect Pierres' (sorry MPPP, not you) that they are truly awful.

Think of the nasty little tattletales from school who always, always, were better than you.

Bleah.

492 472 Trump wouldn't have a single thing to say against him being homosexual but the black turnout would be the worst in human memory. Trump could pull a majority of black votes.

Actually come to think of it, Peter Thiel may possess more actual power than the President. It might be a step down for him. Though watching him in charge would be a lot of fun, because if you think Trump likes revenge, then Thiel is a revenge gourmand.

Apologies, my bad.

I have gotten jumped in a similar circumstance more than a few times.

Misread the context.

Again, apologies.

497 Booty was in the military. Therefore, by the Dems calculus, the the military will all vote for him over the "draft dodger".
Posted by: Cat Ass Trophy at February 11, 2020 01:33 PM

Yerah, nice midwestern all-American boy. Military, married (he he), looks totally square and conservative. The dems think that will fool the electorate into accepting how moderate and sane he is.

Just as radical as any of them. Red diaper baby, full-on Marxist.

Buttigieg is the slight less gay Ben Shapiro of the Left.

499 I don't get it. Who ever wanted Buttpirate for Prez? Who funds him? Why? How is a gay marxist going to be sold to "normal Americans?

GLAAD-baggers have a lot of $$$ and unused power now that 'gay marriage' is the law of the land.

Just waiting for another cause.

501 Back when Beto first appeared on the scene challenging Cruz, a great many here in academe were positively swooning over him.

Robert Francis O'Rourke was a fool. If he'd have just hung on he probably would be the front runner again by now.

502 Who decided a caucus like this was a good idea and why has everyone gone along with it this long?

Say what you will about the Electoral College, but it has a certain logic when you understand the US is a collection of states electing a President.

What is the logic of a caucus?

But yea, Bernie is getting screwed, and Bernie has to pretend to be upset, but won't do shit about it.
Posted by: Blago at February 11, 2020 02:01 PM (sjTfF)

Cauci are cheaper and allow more log-rolling by the state and local leaders than a primary. Back when the actual convention meant something and the primaries meant little, this was a good thing for the state party to horse trade for.

Now with it all being done by television, it is just done that way to give the networks a change of pace from NH and the other states.
