The Saturday Night Joke

"Life is not the way it's supposed to be - it's the way it is. The way you cope with it is what makes the difference."

After his plane was hit and he was forced to eject, the Marine Corps fighter pilot finally regained consciousness. He was in a hospital, in a lot of pain.

He found himself in the ICU with tubes/IV drips in both arms, a breathing mask, wires monitoring every function and a nurse hovering over him, looking worried. It was obvious he was in a life-threatening situation.

The nurse gave him a serious look, straight into his eyes. Knowing he was not only a fighter pilot, but a Marine, she spoke to him softly and slowly, enunciating each word: "You may not feel anything from the waist down."

Somehow he managed to mumble in reply, "Can I feel your boobs, then?"

And that, my friends, is a real positive attitude.

If you're going to be a dumb shit. Don't star on Social Media.

A bodybuilder who claimed an accident left him scared of heights was exposed when a video emerged of him careering down Europe's highest waterslide.

Ben Bardsley, 38, of Stockport, Greater Manchester made a personal injury claim after falling into a pond in 2015.

He said it left him with a fear of heights and unable to lift weights.

His case was dismissed as "nonsense" at Manchester County Court after footage was shown of him being propelled 108ft (33m) down the Verti-Go in Spain

Good bye true and trusted friend. Mickey of Aliquippa, Pennsylvania died too young and must have been one hell of a guy.

This Reddit user shared photos of hundreds of FedEx drivers who had commemorated a fallen employee. Mickey passed away at just 54 years old. The Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, man had left an enormous impact on many people around him, including his FedEx colleagues in the Pittsburgh area. He was a guy who would give $5 to a new kid just to be nice.

They rounded up about 100 trucks to surprise his family with a FedEx funeral procession. What a great gift of respect to give to their fellow friend/co-worker’s family.

What a sad existence. Going through life perpetually offended. Stop calling your pets, "pets".

After performing a little research, I found that the word “pet” comes from the Scottish Gaelic “peata,” which means “tame animal.”

However, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is urging people to put an end to the use of the word “pet,” as they deem it derogatory and demeaning to the animal. You heard that right.

The Blue Wall Doesn't appear to be coming down soon anytime in Aurora, CO.

AURORA, Colo. -- The Aurora police officer found drunk and unconscious while armed and on-duty in his patrol car will not face criminal charges after a review by the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.

“I am incredibly frustrated with an agency that I put a great deal of trust in,” said DA George Brauchler.

“I think that they are an incredible law enforcement agency. I think it’s embarrassing for the 99.9 percent of men and women there that they have to go through the community with this kind of thing hanging over their head,” he said.

Despite all of the public information known about the incident, including details of Meier having a blood alcohol level that was more than five times the legal limit and that he admitted to drinking vodka before getting behind the wheel, Brauchler said he would not be able to use much of that evidence at a trial.

The Super Bowl. Quite the economical impact.

Miami strippers wade through piles of cash after Super Bowl parties

Miami strippers were the real winners of Super Bowl LIV.

Pole dancers were seen wading through ankle-deep piles of cash during one of a slew of game-day bashes of debauchery — some of which drew celebrities toting boxes full of bills, videos show.

Miami strippers say they got screwed out of huge Super Bowl tips
The floor of one unnamed jiggle joint appears blanketed by dollar bills as nearly nude exotic dancers saunter alongside stages in G-strings and heels, according to a video on Instagram.

Music star Post Malone — who was filmed reaching into a cardboard box while grinning and giving away giant stacks of cash — was among the patrons who made it rain extra hard during another one of the in-club parties in the Magic City.

“Let me get one!” one-strip club patron is heard shouting at the rapper, who then hands out a 6-inch-tall stack of moolah from a cardboard box.

The ONT Is Always Looking Out For You TM

Is It Legal To Sleep In Your Van?

As the #vanlife movement continues trending on social media, more and more people have decided to trade in their standard houses for a home on wheels.

While living in a van can offer you the freedom to travel the world, it also comes with its own set of unique challenges.

For me, one of the hardest parts of living in a van is finding places to sleep each night without waking up to a ticket on the windshield. I’ve even been kicked out of a parking spot at 1 am because I didn’t know that there was no overnight parking allowed!

Stories like these from myself and other van dwellers often raise the question to new travelers: is it legal to live in your van?

Here's a blast from the past...................

It appears this marriage is kaput. Shocking. Genius Award Winner.

-Pamela Carr’s husband delivered some stunning news Sunday morning: He wanted a separation after nine years of marriage.

The 68-year-old Carr’s response was equally shocking: She pulled out a taser and repeatedly zapped her 73-year-old spouse, Florida cops allege.

As the couple argued over the separation, Carr “pulled out a taser and drive stunned him several times,” according to a criminal complaint charging Carr with aggravated domestic battery, a felony.

The court filing does not indicate whether Carr’s husband was injured as a result of the tasing in the couple’s Clearwater home. Carr, police say, admitted to tasing her husband, but “claims it was in self defense.”

Orson Bean died at 91, his daughter married Andrew Breitbart, and was the guy to turn Breitbart conservative from a raging liberal.

Reading up on him, he gave an interview that described the '50's Commie scare - McCarthy stuff.

What I never knew was that there was a precursor to that, that involved a bunch of Hollywood commies shutting out conservative actors/writers from jobs. Bean said he was not aware of anyone ever writing about it.

Seems to me to change the context of the entire McCarthy/Hollywood/Commie story.

Bean, story from Breitbart:

In the fifties, there was the blacklist, the Hollywood Ten. There was something that preceded it, that to my knowledge has never been written about, which was a group of communists in the film industry who were directors, screenwriters, or producers who would only use fellow communists or actors who they hoped they could persuade to become communists in their movies, said Bean.

And there was a lot of bitterness on the part of right-wing actors that they were blacked out of a lot of these movies, and this preceded the left-wing blacklist that happened, because there were these communist directors who were blacklisting not just right-wingers, but non-communists, and out of this came this rage on the part of the right, and they began calling everyone who didn't agree with them a communist.

177 So, I had a series of experiences today that have me rethink a lot of my positions. Sadly, I will not be able to vote for Donald Trump again in November.

I picked up some side work today. I drove through downtown Denver at 10:00 this morning - a Saturday - and was in bumper-to-bumper traffic on I-25.

During my work today, I needed some computer parts and went to the big electronics store in the Denver Tech Center. I had to park in another county. Once inside, it was a madhouse and the line to check out snaked around the sales floor. They moved it quickly and efficiently but it was LOOOONG.

After wrapping up my work, I headed home at 4:30 this evening, again through downtown Denver. As was true earlier in the day, I had more bumper-to-bumper traffic on the interstate.

This Trump economy is resulting in way too much commerce and traffic. I can't freaking take it anymore...

From McClatchy:

The Republican National Committee said it brought in a total of $117 million off online fundraising efforts opposing the impeachment of President Donald Trump from late September through Wednesday, gaining 1 million new donors in the process.

The tally only refers to money the RNC, the Trump campaign and a joint fundraising committee said they collectively raised from small-dollar donors through its
Stop the Madness campaign, which was promoted with TV and digital ads after Speaker Nancy Pelosi's announcement on Sept. 24 that the House would open an impeachment inquiry into the president and ran until his acquittal in the Senate on Feb. 5.

The ads, which appeared online on Google, Facebook, Hulu, YouTube, Instagram, and the Drudge Report, as well as on TV, cost $11.3 million and garnered 460 million impressions, RNC spokesman Rick Gorka told McClatchy.

I'm flattered you picked up on my reference to Yma Sumac! Flattered & shocked.

My late mother was a small town culture vulture, & she had some of Ms. Sumac's music on 45's. We're talking mid-to-late 1950's here.

I was about 10-yrs-old then, & Ms. Sumac's music was so unique, the memory of it lingered in my mind these last 60 years or so.

But it is a lesson to all that trying to hide a big problem like this virus only serves to whip up unsubstantiated rumors that only cause problems.

We had a taste of this long ago. I was in high school, maybe. Beta blockers are often prescribed for heart disease. Pharma companies and doctors noticed something interesting: they didn't work well on black men.

One of the companies dug into it and discovered that black men aren't receptive to mainstream beta blockers due to some minor chemical difference. They made a version that worked for black men.

They were excoriated for being racists for advocating a position that implied that were differences between the races.

Madness.

And if the virus hits the United States, it will be doing so in the middle of the Presidential campaign.

If China's industrial heartland continues to go and remain offline, shit's gonna get tough for a while.

If there is any good outcome from this, it might be "hollowing out your domestic industrial base and relocating it half a world away in an authoritarian state was poor official policy to pursue for a solid generation, and such distant concentration needs to be prevented in the future."

Hypertension treated differently for sure with most black people than for whites. Their hypertension also tends to be around-the-clock, whereas the blood pressure of average whites tends to normalize when sleeping.

Black women on average also tend to have lower weight babies, which contributes to the infant mortality rates of any country with a statistically significant amount of blacks.

Many Asians do not metabolize antibiotics as well as other races.

Tons of other medically important differences among races and they ignored it for years because "racism".

Plenty of similar medical differences between men and women, which went unreported because "equality"

410 I've read the "Cilantro tastes like soap" to some folks thing.

Not to me, but it tastes kinda funky, like it shouldn't be in thar, whatever it tastes like. Salsa is damnably expensive, for what it is. We're talking tomatos and onions. Should be .50c a jar.

I'm gonna make about 15 gallons and put it up. The only thing about home-made salsa is it loses the bright red color after a while. Is there something to add, vitamin C or something, to keep it appetizing looking?

The next rip off is Corn chips. (And potato chips too) ; I doubt there is any other food that is cheaper to make with cheaper ingredients. I think they even use field corn to make them. The fricking plastic bag probably costs more than the chips.

Some years ago I found a el-cheapo brand of corn chips - $1 a bag, they were acceptable. One of the things they did was incorporate oat flour into the chips. Made them a little lighter, and more styro-foamy, texture wise. For $1, I didn't complain.

But now everybody does it. Look on the package list of ingredients. Because, fucking field corn is just too expensive, or something.

459 Wuhan comments --

The SO2 data is highly suspicious. How are they measuring it? Could it be an artifact or cross channel from Chlorine - they are spraying a lot of chlorine in the air. Without knowing how the measurement is made, and how accurate it is, it is best to ignore.

Things are very serious. They have taken to welding doors shut for those infected. I think CCP has decided it is necessary to sacrifice all infected to prevent further spread. That is one solution, I guess.

My guess is 10s of thousand dead already, but very hard to know with any accuracy. One thing for certain is that many many people are sent home to die without confirmation, and without confirmation they are not counted.

Other provinces also have problem They have no deaths!. They have decided to make sure Wuhan gets all blame, but if their death numbers are lies, then so are the infected numbers. We really have no idea how bad it is in China at this time.

All in all, this is order of magnitude worse than Chernobyl. This was gross incompetence, will lead to hundreds dead outside China (at minimum) tens of thousand dead in China, bigger world economic impact, etc. And this was totally preventable if they just were willing to react once detected.

This appears to be a SARS variant. Wuhan SARS. China does not want to call it that since it makes it obvious that it was preventable.

Logic would suggest that it might be cheaper in lives were the Chinese to simply nuke those Wuhan Flu infected cities.

Problem is, with air travel and that long incubation period, the nuke would arrive *long* after the flu left the barn.

So then, no need for people to run around with their hair on fire, after all.

For certain micro-second values of "running", and "flash vaporization", that is.

495 What I do believe are the ten or so video I have seen of authorities WELDING doors shut to keep infected from leaving. Whole families sentenced to death.

That tells us that it is very serious, and way over their capacity to treat or handle. That would indicate that all available beds including hospitals and all those emergency isolation wards are full. Probably millions infected.

This is supported by numbers coming from flights out - it is at least 1 or 2% infection rate but highly variable since these are not random groups. But even if only 1%, that is hundreds of thousands. And if death rate is 2% like they say, then many thousands dead already. This is conservative estimate.

More like, death rate is much higher.

On cruise ship, 60+ infected in two or three generations. That gives Ro of maybe 8 and possibly higher. Cruise ship is tight confinement, but so is holiday travel in China. I think cruise ship has more room.

497 To fill the reference - The Destruction of Sennacherib, By George Gordon, Lord Byron

The Assyrian came down like the wolf on the fold,

And his cohorts were gleaming in purple and gold;

And the sheen of their spears was like stars on the sea,

When the blue wave rolls nightly on deep Galilee.

Like the leaves of the forest when Summer is green,

That host with their banners at sunset were seen:

Like the leaves of the forest when Autumn hath blown,

That host on the morrow lay withered and strown.

For the Angel of Death spread his wings on the blast,

And breathed in the face of the foe as he passed;

And the eyes of the sleepers waxed deadly and chill,

And their hearts but once heaved, and for ever grew still!

And there lay the steed with his nostril all wide,

But through it there rolled not the breath of his pride;

And the foam of his gasping lay white on the turf,

And cold as the spray of the rock-beating surf.

And there lay the rider distorted and pale,

With the dew on his brow, and the rust on his mail:

And the tents were all silent, the banners alone,

The lances unlifted, the trumpet unblown.

And the widows of Ashur are loud in their wail,

And the idols are broke in the temple of Baal;

502 Except multiple scources from interviews to uploaded testimonies have said the all the crematoriums are running and have been 24/7 for several weeks and bodies are still piling up. Funerals and burials have been outlawed and all dead bodies must be burned. So there is that.
Posted by: Ahwoo Flu

Think about it though. You can build a makeshift crematorium in a day. 2 days if you use mortar. All you need is refractory block, and gas supply.

If they were at that point where they needed to burn thousands of bodies, they would convert cement mill to crematorium. Or steel mill. Or pottery kiln. The last thing I would do is burn bodies in a ditch since without refractory block and gas supply it would take hours and still leave residue. Even Chinese are not that stupid.

I don't think they are burning them out in the open (during the daytime at least). I do believe they are probably doing what you are suggesting.
On Bannon's podcast, a Asian guest estimated at least 600k infected and 1.5 million as higher end number. He said 60 or 80 crematoriums were working 24/7.
It is Steve Bannon, but with the measures the ChiComs have taken since Jan24th, I wouldn't be surprised with that take.

You can't even mourn over the paths you were prevented from taking because of the paths you did choose, because that means you aren't focusing on the path you decided to take and now have to survive at.

You can put it down that other stuff or carry it around with you, but that is a hell of a load to carry all the time. It will get in your way.

Long, (300') low-sloped, covered "ditch", leading to a refractory-blocked burning chamber, likely 30' wide by 75' long. At the far end, topped by a 150' tall brick chimney.

All the burning chamber needs is a mechanical feed device to keep dumping bodies into the burn chamber at +/- the consumption rate of the previous occupants.

Just have to stop and cool the thing long enough for residues to be removed by Bobcat, as needed.

Most all the ash goes up the chimney, and very few solids remain in the chamber. Even the bones are reduced to calcified powder.

Incorporate "venturi" features into key points in the design, and at a certain point, the corpses would become "self-consuming", negating the need for additional gas flames to feed the fires.

*stuff i've read in obscure documents in post WWII nazi / speer design "studies".

I'm not making this up.

Notice there's never any introspection with these folks. No, they are absolutely convinced of the righteousness of their cause. Never for a moment does it ever occur to them that if people want to kill them maybe they are doing something wrong.

So yeah, I think wholesale firings, loss of all pensions and benefits, would have a salutory effect. Put the fear of god in them, so to speak. Mass layoffs are part and parcel of the "private sector". Anybody who works for the government has to understand in no uncertain terms they are not to become political operatives.

Nope.

I've read a LOT on this of the German atrocities as they pressed Eastward towards Russia.

They buried hundreds of thousands of Poles in mass graves. Often, with over 70,000 shot and buried in a single day.

Weeks later, that ground looked like boiling water, with the bodies generating decomposition gasses, bursting forth through the soil, and pressing said grounds up into earthen bubbles which burst out with noxious fumes, the foul odors of death and ALL of the airborne vectors of disease, bacteria, molds, spongiforms and everything else a decaying corpse can emit.

The Germans were EVIL.

They were not stupid

Not immediately, but within 2 years. This generation will not forgive what they are doing. Their incompetence, deceit, and now welding families inside their houses to die.

Hitler was enraged and in fact signed his death warrant not once but twice after Speer talked him out of it the first time.

So Speer got life in prison (commuted to twenty years) rather then death by hanging.

Was it the right call? Well if something like that ever happens again maybe a toady who is guilty as sin once again stops following orders blindly.

This is all well and good, and as it ought to have been.

But after Speer had been bled of all possible knowledge and value, then the right thing to do would have been for the equivalent of a Commisar, to have put a figurative Tokarev (P-38? M-1911?) to the back of his head during some casual stroll, and pressed the trigger.

The Soviets perfected this method of execution, and it seems the most psychologically merciful of them all.

Speer really was a Nazi piece of shit. But with a better sense of self-preservation than most.

His designs for "the ovens" were the most blatantly obvious proof of pure evil than had ever been put to paper, before.

The PITY is now, China needs those designs and plans poste-haste, if it is to survive.

And they're way, way behind the power curve on the building and the doing.

It's best if we here in the West avert our eyes, and let them get on with it. It's going to be ugly. Very ugly.

"Bring out your dead!" will be a horror, and not a Python sketch.

And yes. They WILL put "the sick" on the cart.

I fully agree.

But "evil" contains within itself the very seeds of the stupidity, conceit and hubris which brings about it's own downfall.

Sadly, that's not often fast enough.

Evil regimes last tens of years, kill millions of souls. I get that.

But they'll all end up failing, because communism, socialism, leftism.

Are the embodiment of "Stupid". Every time.

Doesn't mean they're not clever. But in the end? Stupid.

581 Author of current book, which is focused on economics and not military or moral aspects, thinks Speer was spared at Nuremberg due to clever b.s.-ing (my phrasing).

Anyway, he rejects the "apolitical technocrat" stuff that was one basis of mercy for Speer. Speer was a close Hitler confidant and complicit in many of the worst crimes of the regime.

Have to ask my friend, I think his unit actually did a rotation at Spandau when Hess was the only one left there, back in the 70s. Kind of related.

Posted by: rhomboid at February 09, 2020 02:41 AM (El6T/)

582 Speer was Hitler's architect, iirc. More than just a confidant. It never made much sense, that he "got off" so to speak. Hess was another oddy. They never let him go, which never made much sense.

I think I read once - maybe apocryphal - that each of the 4 powers or somesuch - France, GB, US, and Soviets, had a say. Everyone would vote once a year, and eventually, everybody said "let him out". Except the Soviets. Like clockwork. Every year. Then, one year, the Soviets were awol or abstained or whatever and said "go ahead" and let him out - and the Brits promptly jumped in, and denied release. Something something there was a lot of dirty laundry that they wanted to keep under wraps, or something. It would be interesting to know the true story of Hess's "mission".

Concur; there has to be a pretty big logistical trail to keep those guys in action. A micro team isn't going to have enough troops to absorb a lot of attrition for a prolonged period of time. In all my reading of memoirs written by the guys at the "pointy end of the spear" something that struck me was the randomness of sustaining casualties: inches and seconds can mean the difference between life and death.

No doubt that a small team of highly-trained, resolute combat veterans can definitely fvk up a bunch of noobs but even there, there is a finite amount of time those guys would be combat effective.
