Children are born every day in this country addicted to meth, heroine, crack, marijuana. They will grow up with horrible emotional and behavioral issues.
The cycle repeats. And the policy is to try and reunify these poor children with the parents, that willingly did this to them.

I sort of agree with this, but I can't help thinking that the 'moderate' Dems that held hands and jumped because Pelosi said so were under the impression that this would be behind them by 2020, and they wouldn't have to broadcast their impeach vote in the middle of primary season.
If the Dems had a second bite of the impeachment apple in the House, I'm not sure Pelosi will be able to herd all these cats this time.

I disagree. The FBI has been rotten for decades. Under Bobby Kennedy they tapped MLKs phone, and other people that Hoover distrusted. Their terrible behavior in the 60s is well documented. They have been out of control and a law unto themselves for all of my life, and probably before that, perhaps as far back as the 1940s.

You are confusing an M249 SAW (Squad Automatic Weapon) which is chambered for 5.56 mm with the M-60, which is chambered for 7.62 mm.
SAWs are deployed at a squad level (duh, squad automatic weapon), two per squad, while M-60s are deployed at the platoon level, two per platoon. Interesting point: 80% of an infantry platoon's firepower is due to the 2 M-60 machine guns.

Yep, I qualified on the M-249 SAW (5.56mm). M-240/ 240 H variant is 7.62mm as well, we had them as crew serve on M1A1. What I am asking is if it was a 240 (7.62mm) the trauma docs and emts would have known the difference. Not blaming it on just a guy with multiple bump stock AR15 (5.56mm).

That will last all day and night probably. At a minimum.
There is also four hours in their somewhere for closing arguments. I think that the motion for witnesses will be voted on first, then amendments and other parliamentary bullshit, and then, if they aren't going to call witnesses, two hours allotted per side to make final arguments. So, yes, it could go kind of late.

With the boost in the market this year, I hit the high end of my retirement numbers. I could retire now and maintain my current lifestyle. And I have 8 more years until retirement.
I've been spending the year paying off every financial commitment that has an interest rate over 3% and still have enough in savings for major renovations on the house.
Hell, even tempted by the new 2020 Corvette, but I think I'll be sensible since all the cars are paid off.

So here's the news.
Turns out it's a bit better than expected.
Long story (slightly) short(er), I got slapped with YET ANOTHER SEXUAL HARASSMENT COMPLAINT AT WORK.
Bear in mind my present female co-worker is NOT IMHO attractive or even very interesting.
But we had an argument last week, which *I* de-escalated. I was frustrated because once again, I was stuck fixing a dumb mistake she made. When I asked her to *please* be careful, she threw a tantrum.
Nothing new. She's done that numerous times before. She's also impossible to train and basically refuses to do anything she's not specifically directed and/or forced to do by our boss, the publisher.
I've gotten used to it, but I'm sick of her attitude. Anyway...
OVER TWO MONTHS AGO, *BEFORE* THANKSGIVING, I threw a tantrum of my own at work. But it wasn't at her. It was at a demanding regular client who wasn't even there.
But I yelled, was visibly upset... and then discovered this co-worker, who was nearby, was rattled by my mood.
I apologized to her, AND bought her lunch that day, which she (at least apparently) happily accepted.
I thought it was over.
Nope. She just reported it to my boss, because she's pissed about a minor conflagration we had just this past week.
So now my boss, the publisher, is panicking. He's not the state so he can't make my life a living hell like the last time this happened at Metro State Hospital, but he sure tried.
He asked me to come in to work in the Seal Beach office Monday morning. I said sure. I figured it was no big deal. Both I and my co-worker fill in at that office from time to time.
But I showed, and had to wait in the waiting room, rather than being put right to work. Uh oh.
Found out Monday I was being suspended without pay for 3 days, and the publisher explained all of the above to me. He was also irritated that I hadn't told on myself when I originally threw this tantrum. Yeah, sorry, I don't tell on myself when I screw up.
I'm kind of sick of this job anyway. Outside of the column, it's been something of a slog. But I've stuck with it. I want to at least build up a writing portfolio.
I accepted everything, didn't argue much about the situation, and left.
LATER THAT SAME DAY, my boss told me he was bringing the suspension down to *two* days. He was willing to pay me 4 hours for coming in that day to hear of myself being suspended. He also agreed to pay me for *today,* the day he'd let me know if I've managed to keep my job.
So I've been on an unpaid vacation most of this week.
YESTERDAY, my boss calls me. He says I can still work, but I have to completely avoid this co-worker from now until forever. Fine, but he wants me to come in either ridiculously early or late to do so.
I did some hard thinking, and decided... it's not worth it. And I was gonna call my boss and tell him so this morning over the phone, rather than come in.
So I call my boss this AM, and he insists I come in. He didn't want to hear anything I had to say over the phone.
And I went in. And I told my boss what I was going to say on the phone, that given I'm not being paid much, writing a column for free, and basically constantly covering for this derelict co-worker anyway, this job just isn't worth it to me any more. I also said I wasn't willing to work super-early or super-late just to accommodate the situation.
I said I chose to resign, and he accepted that.
Or, so I thought.
I left the office at 10:30, got in my car and called my sister to give her the news (she's been supportive of me this whole situation). I was on the phone with her for maybe 2 minutes.
ONE MINUTE AFTER I GET OFF THE PHONE WITH MY SISTER, it's my boss on the phone.
"If I can figure out a way for you to work Saturdays, will you stay?"
LOLOLOLOL. He knows full well that I'm willing to do the work this complaining co-worker won't.
I tell him, maybe. He also wanted me to work today ANYWAY. What?
I said I'd come in tomorrow at 8:30 and we could work things out. Then driving home, I came up with a new schedule that actually could conceivably work.
Anyway, I called this guy again and said, if you can make this schedule happen (including Saturdays), yes, I'll stay.
He actually agreed, he just wanted to check to see if I can come into the building in Garden Grove on weekends. (I don't see why not.)
So it looks like I literally managed to pull my job out of the lion's stomach, forget its mouth.
But it's crazy, I doubt thing will change as far as covering for this crazy co-worker, and I'm going to continue looking for work elsewhere in the meantime. I can still always quit, and I'm looking forward to doing so.
Okay, that's the story. And this is the SHORT version! Call it the Leon Uris short version. Good grief.

Mark1971: Yup, I worked there from 2008 to 2010. That place is interesting. They still have a lot of the original buildings from when they first opened in 1914, though most of them are boarded up and out of use. And I learned a lot of the staff is crazier than the clientele.

Usually, a sexual harassment claim can be successfully fought... as long as you didn't, you know, sexually harass anyone.
Basically, there's either evidence of said harassment, or at MOST you can be told to cease and desist... or whatever you'd call it.
So if the boss "suspends" you, he damn well better have cause. Or this whole EEOC garbage can ALWAYS go both ways.
Honestly, I'd be looking for ways to file on her. Seriously, if she crosses her eyes at you, file as a hostile work environment. Women generally only get away with this crap when men don't use the same damned rules to fight back.

We're anointing a young woman with oil and praying for success for a job thing that she's having coming up early next month-that it would lead to greater things so that her territory can be expanded nd God might be glorified through her work. I told her to invite people and I hope people will attend and be touched by the Holy Spirit and want to have a relationship or a deepened
relationship with God, She's such a sweet, attractive girl . She needs to get a job in the field she got her degree in-public relations for a non profit Her name is Grace, which is a great theological name.
Hope that wasn't too much information. It's just that she could be the age of a daughter and I have a great affection for her.

Well, I have been down with a cold for most of the week. Spending a lot of time in bed. Got dressed today for the first time in 3 days, and went to WalMart this evening for food. Saw a landwhale on a shopping scooter with a surgical mask on.
The dog is much better. Eating and drinking normally, comes and goes outside as she pleases via the doggie door. But she refused to try to get into the Suburban. I think she associates that climb with back pain.

A few days ago, now, for the 4-wheeling. I haven't tried to lift her into the vehicle. She weighs 60 pounds, and hard to get a good grip that won't hurt her. I put a box down to act as a step, too.
Maybe tomorrow, I will try taking her for a ride in the Studebaker Lark. A lot lower than the Suburban, and not associated with a trip to the vet.

You can buy treat wraps to put pills in at walmart or places like petco. My cat always eats the treat wrap and leaves the pill in his water bowl along with some upchuck to state his displeasure.

Those pockets were so huge they defeated the purpose for my cat with inflammatory bowel disease. He wouldn't eat to begin with. Adding a giant bite of food to a pill was only compounding the impossibility.
I finally became an expert at pilling him, but only after I had a couple of lessons and I found out the vet would charge a fee if I took him in. So I got a business idea: I'd go to your house and pill your cat. Twenty bucks a visit, or a discount if your cat required several pillings a day. My extended neighborhood probably had dozens of clients waiting for me. Not enough money in it, but I liked the name: The Catter-Piller.

So-o-o much commercial music has been recorded in the last 70 years that even the really good 5-10% (?) of it is a yuge catalog, most of which is virtually unknown to most HS- or college-aged kids.

The Colorado one from an airline looks like the Great Sand Dunes National Park, with the Sangre De Cristo range to the right of it. You can see Crestone Peak, Crestone Needle, and that entire area. Very nice, and a lot easier than hiking into that incredibly scenic part of the range.

A vote to dismiss would be a compete refutation of Pelosi, Schiff and Nadler in particular, and the democrats and the MSM in general.
Seriously. The House ran amok, throwing every concept of fairness to the wind, then marched into the Senate and lied, obfuscated and acted like brats with impunity. They insulted the Chief Justice of the SCOTUS.
If the 'greatest deliberative body in the world' allows this conduct and the resultant charges to stand and doesn't dismiss it, then they will indistinguishable from any other 'deliberative body' in third world governments.

The opposite happens as well. Many, many folks proudly refuse to believe any conspiracies are ever possible. It's their attempt to impose their own version of order on events.
Their refusal to believe anything was not as it was presented on the Vegas shooting is an example. Their vehement belief in the official story regarding Epstein was another.

Single Action in an auto or revolver performs a single action, it releases the trigger. The trigger usually has to be pulled back or is locked back in the case of an auto on safe. It is a sharp fire with only the hammer dropping. Many people who compete like these as the triggers can be very light and crisp.
Double Action, means pulling the trigger does two things. It cocks the hammer, turns the cylinder, and releases the hammer. In an auto, it just cocks and releases the hammer.
DA/SA means and auto like Sig where the first pull takes back the trigger and then releases it. After the first shot, it is now Single action as the hammer is already back an only needs a small amount of pressure to drop it for subsequent shots.
Striker Fired means a modern auto such as a Glock that has no hammer. In general, the firing pin, or striker is already cocked a bit and when you pull the trigger it travels only a short way and then releases and fires. These guns have a shorter trigger pull and crisper pull than a double action. They are in many ways a hybrid between a full double action and a cocked single action. When in doubt, don't pull the trigger unless you mean business.
You asked about hammers. For sure striker fired guns don't have visible hammers. But there is another kind. There are "hammerless" revolvers where you never see a hammer as it is encased in the body. They are mainly double action too but you never see an exposed hammer.
This was for Braenyard and just off the top of my head after a long, long day. So no worries if I got some stuff wrong, this is not meant to be the mechanical 101 on the subject. Just a general idea.

I don't know what happened to the brass. Walking around on fired brass is slippery so someone might have policed up the brass before those pictures were taken. Speculation but reasonable.
