DATELINE: Panera in the suburbs. It's sunny and 48 F., but rain predicted for tonight and tomorrow (so my washing the car is partly in vain. At least the big sedan will look good for about 18 hours).
As I do every 3 weeks, I'm out here to get my ears lowered, make some essential purchases at the Target nearby, then flee home before the traffic gets bad. At this time of year the weather is good; but by late Feb. or early March it will be sticky and warm. Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius at January 25, 2020 09:07 AM (DHNlU) 17

Good Saturday morning to you from wintery Canuckistan, where our Conservatives can't find someone to lead them and Justin is at least smart enough to stay the hell out of the papers this week (maybe there was a sale on shoe polish).
The coffee is hot and my seat is warm, but the store is a mess and I'm buying about half a million cards on Saturday, so I have to figure out where the hell I'm going to put them. *raises holiday cup from Rod's Coffee Donuts/Gas Station, who apparently hasn't run out of them yet* Posted by: TheHoser at January 25, 2020 09:11 AM (IDjUx) 24

Good Saturday morning, horde!
I've got a steaming pot of Guatemalan, and I am experimenting with CBD oil starting this weekend, for relentless hot flashes and bad sleep. Anyone out there using CBD products and have advice? Also, I can attest to men being "emotional" at work. Every place I've ever worked (career in tools, hardware, logistics, farm & ranch, and car sales), the men are caught up in drama with each other. Usually, one thinks the place can't operate without him, and the others think it's just the opposite. Posted by: April at January 25, 2020 09:11 AM (OX9vb) 27

Posted by: San Franpsycho at January 25, 2020 09:09 AM (EZebt) ---My wife is from the Toronto area. Across the street was a HUGE Chinese buffet, and a good portion of it was actual old-school Chinese food. I would force myself to try horrible-looking dish each time, and I never found a damned thing I liked. Cuttlefish, incidentally, tastes like an old mop smells. Same consistency, too. Sen. Bernie Sanders leads the field of Democratic presidential candidates in Iowa, according to a new poll released Saturday.
25 percent, pick Sanders as their first choice in next month's caucuses. That gives Sanders a 7-point lead over his closest competitor, former South Bend (Ind.) Mayor Pete Buttigieg, who is at 18 percent, roughly tied for second place with former Vice President Joe Biden at 17 percent and Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts at 14 percent I really want Comrade Bernie to win these caucuses and primaries and then the DNC step in and say, "Yeah, no we're still not giving you the nomination" and watch his lunatic supporters freak the fark out. Posted by: NaughtyPine at January 25, 2020 09:09 AM (/+bwe) Well, for all I know, they could have another candidate who's a better fit for the position. It could be. Nothing I can do about it, if that's the case, and it would be irrational not to choose the best one. But as for my part, I went out on that field and left none of my cards on the table, gave it 110% adjusted for inflation and just kept moving the goalposts down the court on a triple word score. every other day works for me- btw I am safety razor, soap and brush, the works Posted by: DB- just DB at January 25, 2020 * * I got into the old-fashioned way of shaving after I cut myself with an electric. 'Struth. I was shaving along with my Braun electric and felt a sting. Thought I had pulled a hair. Then I saw the thin scratch and the blood. Turned out a tiny bit of the metal foil had broken and was sticking up. I played with a Norelco for a while, then went to a safety razor, and now like you do the brush, cream or soap, and 2-3 passes on the face about every 24-48 hours. I have a "Commander Riker" style beard, so I don't have much facial real estate to shave. But it feels good to be clean-shaven, and I'm saving a LOT of money over those expen$$ive cartridge razors. Speaking of interviews, I did a video interview with Amazon, wherein they sent me a list of questions and I recorded the answers.
A week later, they sent me an email, "oops, would you mind doing your interview again? We sent you the wrong questions." I declined to do their video assessment again. I don't need the job that badly and if their HR department makes that kind of mistake, I don't think it bodes well for the future.

He went to work there for the benefits but it was quite obvious that they hired older workers merely to say that they did. so but when they couldn't keep up a pace that even some younger workers struggled with all the older workers got fired. Ok. Car wreck in '78 left me with a scar across my chin, which I can but don't like to shave, so I just had a goatee since then, the chin hairs looking a bit lonely without a mustache. Been letting the face grow out for the winter. My cheeks hair is thin and doesn't look like much until it gets long, then I have a passable gray beard. (WHY does the neck hair grow back so fast?) The mustache is usually trimmed, but I've been letting it grow, and it's at that point where it's not yet easy to brush to the sides, so it hangs like a soup strainer a lot. Now about these hairs in my nose and ears... *creak* *groan* Being over 29 isn't for the faint of heart. Welp, Trump keeps buzzing through the Obambi regulatory crap like a chainsaw through butter. He repealed the Waters of the US act. (WOTUS). This would have placed a ridiculous regulatory burden on (in particular, but NOT limited to) farmers and energy companies. (I'm sure windmills and solar farms had iron clad exemptions). He ran on this; and it's a huge win for Ag and Energy. This is exactly the kind of stuff RiNOs would ignore, thereby tacitly endorsing. Even Reagan would have licked his finger, tested the political winds and done...NOTHING.

And it's been around for centuries. They found some prehistoric dude frozen in a glacier somewhere and he had a pouch of some sort and in it was cannabis.
You may be high. They call the guy Oetzi, unless you know of another one, and he was thawing out in the Alps between Italy and Austria. He did have a pouch with herbs with him. And he had arrowheads lodged in him and they examined his gut bacteria. He's a treasure trove of insight into ancient humans. But I don't think cannabis was growing in the high Alps 5,000 years ago. - Dave's not here, man. Posted by: Anonosaurus Wrecks, Tyrannosaur Wrangler at January 25, 2020 10:01 AM (+y/Ru) 251
Jewell45, if you are looking for arthritis nostrums, research Boron supplements.
If nothing else, it may make your nails harder, but it may help ease some of the issues with the pain. Boric Acid U.S.P is exceptionally cheap in the pharmacies, it is used as a antiseptic dust for skin and an eye wash. I bought some pre-made supplements and have been taking them, it seems to work for my hands in that they don't ache before weather fronts come in, but I find them expensive, so I may just go back to dissolving Boric Acid into water. (It tastes a damn-sight better than Borax, even though it is not tasty as honey) Posted by: Kindltot at January 25, 2020 10:02 AM (6rS3m) 252

Typically, your run-of-the-mill member of a class won't get a whole lot out of it, but also in some cases it's not worth the undertaking to litigate individually. That's not necessarily the case for each potential member of a class. However, I can't tell you which category you fall into. So, I recommend you consult with an attorney who understands class actions and has experience litigating against insurance companies so they can evaluate your potential claim against the insurance company as an individual. There was a smart chicom gerneral a while back that America was designed by geniuses to be run by idiots, which is pretty true.
One thing that we have that the chicom do not is structural flexibility. Even savaging the country as the left has done for so long is not enough to permanently destroy the country. There is room to snap back. The chicoms are the opposite. They have a very effective system for quashing any that would create mischief or worse, as the left has done in America, however, there is nothing they can do once the rebels get established. Why? Because it costs businesses shedloads of money to have smokers on the job. Both in terms of healthcare benefits paid out, and loss of productivity for the multiple smoke breaks they take. Food will always be China's problem.....you cannot project power if you can't feed the troops or the folks back home.
Posted by: Hairyback Guy at January 25, 2020 10:17 AM (Z+IKu) China's food problem comes from central planning. The Great Leap Forward and the subsequent Cultural Revolution caused massive famine for the same reason the Ukrainian Homodolor had such famine and Pol Pot killed so many by famine. Central planning by idiots whose only goal was to take as much food to the central cities from a rural populace who had been made actual slaves of the government. When push came to shove, the Communists were willing for massive famines instead of admitting error of the economic model. They then claimed the famines were caused by overpopulation (too many mouths) and they instituted the one family one child laws. I am told the only thing that ended the cycle of famines was the Cultural Revolution causing so many apparatchiks to denounce so many fellow apparatchiks, that the Cadres were so thin on the ground, the locals were able to restart black market farming and get markets up Posted by: Kindltot at January 25, 2020 10:51 AM (6rS3m) 421

I was commenting on the propaganda not "economic strength".The *growth* I asserted is a *fact*. Any measure of "economic strength" is a theory based on data, which is required before any conclusion can be drawn.
It is well-known that the available data is almost entirely based on data inferred from trade figures and the like. That is subject to interpretation, which up until now has been guided by the helping hand of the CCP.I made no claim on "economic strength" but I did assert that there had undeniably been "growth". Historically speaking, revolutions don't happen when things go from bad to worse. That actually is a pretty stable circumstance, which is why Venezuela and North Korea are pretty quiet. See also Zimbabwe, South Africa, etc.
You get a revolution when expectations are sharply at variance with reality, which is to say things started to get better than then retreat unexpectedly. Alternatively, when authority figures are exposed as blindingly inept. A third cause is a shocking show of weakness in the face of challenge. China has all three happening simultaneously. They claim the economy is still growing, but that's a lie. Hong Kong's defiance is a gaping wound to their aura of invincibility. And now you have a pandemic. Much of the roadblocks and teams in moon suits are just for show. "We've got this, everyone calm down." But they don't, and unless they suddenly get a grip, things will get real sporty. Having a powerful family and access to easy cash is something that lot of guys would be seduced by. His dad setting him up in jobs, as a way to funnel graft to the family, made it easier for him to go wrong. Think of how many guys have gone wrong with fewer influences acting against them.
