TAMPA — As another tax season gets underway, Ramon Christopher Blanchett learned that it doesn’t pay to mess with the Internal Revenue Service. U.S. District Judge James S. Moody Jr. sentenced the 29-year-old Tampa man on Thursday to 34 months in prison for filing a false return that netted him a $980,000 refund on income of less than $19,000. The penalty was near the top of the sentencing guidelines and reflected “the seriousness of your conduct,’’ Moody told him. Three years ago, Blanchett electronically filed his 2016 return with a W-2 from a Tampa nursing home that included false information about his wages and the amount of taxes withheld. The IRS sent him the whopping refund, which he deposited into a SunTrust account. The bank held on to the money for a full year but then issued a check to Blanchett in 2018. He spent $51,117 on a Lexus before the IRS realized its mistake and began forfeiture proceedings to get back the money.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes came under fire on social media over his old tweets about the George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin case and his apparent support for law enforcement. The old social media posts appeared to show Mahomes and his former high school football teammate talking back-and-forth about the case and the trial, Fox News reported. Those "surgical" face masks are to protect other people from your coughs and sneezes. They do not do anything at all to keep germs, bacteria, virus, from getting to you as you breathe. So if this thing starts to get bad, sure, wear a mask if you have a cough, but don't think you can protect yourself.
I have a couple of gas masks that work for your typical gases, and crude heavy fallout. I don't for a moment think they'd work against hard-line bacilli, or any virus in the world. I'm not sure there is a filter rated for that.
We always have months and months worth of food in stock, and liquor. Took delivery on a dozen bottles of Drambuie today, so we're good on rusty nails until the end of the world. And we went out for Chinese New Year, so that's off the list. May just hunker down until the "Iowa Caucuses" are over.

Just did a ton of research on this, after buying a new Maytag set about 7 years ago -- and HATED it. This impeller thing is a really bad idea when it comes to getting dirty clothes clean, so you may want to filter your searches by agitator. After so many complaints in the last few years, most of the makers have started offering agitator models again. I ended up choosing the GE Model # GTW845CSNWS for capacity and user friendliness. (Deep water option will at least allow you to fill to the top, where many models decide for you how much water the load will need. They do not do this well.) It's due to be delivered in a couple of weeks so I can't report on its performance yet.
My best advice is to find a used set (seriously) that works the way washers and dryers are supposed to, before they got "smart".

had much better luck with the American made Speed Queen washer/dryers.

shaped.

As i mentioned the other day, Chinese cuisines is one of the great cuisines of the world. No serious chef denies that.
Now China as a nation, and how it treats people is a whole other thing. I have not been following this virus thing. All I have heard about it is on this site. But one thing I noticed recently. At some of these high end fu fu markets well all know, there is something going on. In fact, I take it back, I saw this at Wall Mart too.
I keep seeing kids grabbing vegetables, running around with them in glee, and then placing them back somewhere. I realize that most of the time when people get sick it is not the pork, it is not the meat, it is fruits and vegetables. And though I just realized what I saw, I am seeing it almost every time I go to the market.
One thing I am doing is only choosing vegetables and produce that is stacked at the top. Tall guy privilege I guess.

Back when I was in university I helped foreign students, pretty much all Asian, work on their English (pro tip: do not use advice columns unless you want to explain a lot of slang or say, "Don't worry, you'll never hear that again."). Some students from Taiwan invited me over for a home-cooked meal. Wow. Nothing like my Americanized Chinese food-eating self had ever had before. The one thing I remember to this day was the liberal use of mayonnaise.

It turns out that we are are all toughing the same utensils to serve our food and not everyone is so keen on hygiene. It turns out that even the buffets put a time limit on how long to replace utensils because they know they are compromised. It is not a question of making sure they are clean, it is just that they have a time limit for the bacteria.

This phishing email pretended to be from Charter (Spectrum) itself, saying "We were unable to process your last payment, please verify your information".
It was an obvious fake. The link went to some gibberish looking URL, and let to some fake Spectrum login page.
They were only after account passwords, as near as I can tell.
I've tried to show her how to look at the URLs, both in the email links and the address bars in the browser, but that just doesn't register somehow.
That "this looks bogus" filter I have, she just doesn't.

The link went to some convoluted looking URL. Trying to explain what makes for a "convoluted/bogus looking" URL vs what a legitimate Spectrum/Charter URL looks like just doesn't make any sense to her. Both look like gibberish to her.
The notion of protocol://name.domain.name/path" just makes no sense. She can't break that down mentally to parse it.

I know people who say there is not good food in Spain. If you know about michelin ratings or even regional cuisine, you would know why that statement is absurd. Tastes vary there is no question there. But to say there is no good food in Spain is to say more about yourself than Spain.
I was also told by someone I knew very well that there was no milk in Mexico. The point i am making is people can often come up with absolutes about countries they visit that they never would about the USA. Who would claim there is no milk in Cleveland?
Again, i am not surprised that someone had a bad experience in China. Hell, it is a very foreign cuisine, it is not the American version, and it is China. Most of their people don't get any good shit by design.
What gets me is the absolutism. BTW, I think Spain has something like 5 of the top ten Michelin restaurants. And even if that is a bit too far, pretty much all serious chefs call it the nation that is making the most waves now.
And at the low end, Spanish cuisine is still the best. you have bars with jamon Iberico, and other tapas that will blow your mind. But many will go there,. expect American style food at American style times and be disappointed. Just like in Italy. You can get bad food there, they have tons of tourist traps. Just like here, you have to do your research. And even then, the food simply might not be to your liking.

I've got a router to router VPN set up and can remotely access all computers there.
I'm proud of myself with that. It took me several days of learning and playing, but I've got DNS and dynamic routing set up, using OpenWRT running on both Linksys routers.
I can access any machine from either end by name, even change subnets at will and all that will be dynamically updated immediately over the VPN tunnel.

That is true for sure. I know when we would pick out a place i Europe, we would ignore any place that had their menu translated into five languages. IF you saw a bunch of Japanese or Germans, you went elsewhere. That might sound cruel but that is how people acted back in the normal days.
you want to go to the least welcoming place possible. You want go where the natives go and not tourists. Sometimes it is as simple as moving over a street. If one street is made famous on a guide book, go to the other one.

could be worse. at a previous employer, the c-level executives would occasionally send out messages to the employees. invariably, what i got was a message from someone i didn't know that said "read this .pdf file" and an attached pdf file. note that, where i work, i am required to take annual training that includes admonitions against opening attachments from people that i know. complaining up the chain did no good; the spam-alike messages kept coming.
recently, i got an important e-mail about changes to the login process here at work. it was a "read this powerpoint" e-mail that tried to assure me it wasn't spam by including "THIS IS IMPORTANT! THIS IS NOT SPAM!" in the subject line.

Half of these dummies have no clue what they are talking about, they are just saying gibberish someone else told them to say. A of "authentically Mexican" foods would repulse a New York Yuppie. Unless they like Menudo and grasshoppers.
These damn dummies crap on Tex Mex as if it isn't its own authentic cuisine from a distinct area and culture. The same people that will ask if your "authentic Mexican" is gluten free.

The people they crap one need to hear it. They need to know their culture has been marginalized.
I have a feeling that at a lot of Latinos, particularly in Texas will be voting R. Some of my evidence is anecdotal. But I have met some people in places that are supposed to be all left, all the time that make me wonder. It is almost as if the press is lying to us.

it is situational for sure. in general, who wouldn't want the freshest seafood? But after listening to many top sushi chefs, many of the fish need time before they are at their best. Like "I said, no one wants a fresh steak or olive.

The worrying part isn't the numbers coming out of the PRC, it's the images of them using heavy equipment to block roads with berms and tree trunk abatis. They are not fucking around. I think that's a good indicator that it escaped from a lab and the PRC knows it. Recall that researchers in one of the Wuhan labs have done recent work outside of China on how these types of viruses become transmissible to humans, and Canadian labs working on these have expelled Chinese researchers for stealing samples.
If things go nutty, much of the US will be caught unaware - the media is all busy circle jerking over the impeachment clusterfuck.

But this is what i don't understand. in the last famous Fluffy episodes avavalabile on youtube. you have the3 guy:

The Border Patrol has been around a long time. Just because someone spoke Spanish didn't mean they were on the side of illegals. You have to understand the area. Hell, Texas was Spanish speaking before it became an independent state. The idea that a state had to control its borders was not controversial a few decades ago. The poeple who produced this lot have some explaining to do, not me.
I say anyone who didn't know the Border Partrol was 60 - 70 percent Hispanic in the 70s and 80s, simply never learned that history.
