So is Obama. So is everyone important.

Almost all small devices charge with some variant of USB now. mini, micro and C can all be cross-adapted if you existing infrastructure (I use a bunch of micro-to-C adapters for my new phone). Almost everything heavy-duty (e.g., grounded and heavier gauge) that uses a removable cord uses an IEC C-15 connector (kettle cord). Things like televisions are sometimes a crap shoot, but the two-prong connectors are pretty interchangeable, too (at most, you need a razor blade to adapt them).
The only frontier left on this really is laptops, and even those are moving USB-C (or the USB-PD variant that uses the same connector, but doesn't carry data),, at least on the high end. This is a problem that barely exists anymore and won't exist at all within about 5 years.

I think it was, for a long time. Conservatism Inc. bought out a lot of conservative sites.
But I'm seeing new outlets emerge that are aggressively opposed to them. OANN seems to be embiggening, and American Greatness was once barely better than a blog and is now a go-to site. They even poached PJ Media's daily roundup person.
Human Interest must have some backers and I'm interested to see that First Things is now getting involved in the fight. Remember, the first solid punch at David French came from there. They haven't stopped pounding him or Conservatism, Inc. since.
I guess it comes down to the cash burn, and how long the backers are willing to watch their money go away.

There's no limit there. They will burn it until the end of time. They can afford to do so.
The question is one of value. If their money buys nothing, they'll quit burning it (which I think will happen after the election regardless of win or lose, at least for a lot of them). Having a meaningful official opposition is worth it, though, and they piss money down whoever that happens to be in perpetuity - but they will have to produce something.
It isn't about the money. It's about the value of captive opposition. And their big institutional names will be valuable again post-Trump. The individuals won't be.

Had the misfortune to listen to Hugh Hewitt interviewing Peter Navarro yesterday. He completely embarrassed himself.
Hugh's all for tariff's with China but none of our other wonderful allies like the Europeans. He kept screaming at Navarro "Your just wrong!" So Navarro says something like "Didn't you say I was wrong when I first proposed the tariffs on China?" And Hewitt says "Yes. But you're STILL wrong on everything else."
Navarro continues to trap him and Hewitt starts sputtering ad hominems "oh, you old rogue ... you old Lefty ... etc." before just cutting him off.
I actually blushed out of embarrassment for him. What a hack ...

Jessie Helms created an organization that propelled him to a Senate seat in a state dominated by Democrats. He did it by constructing his own parallel source of donors, campaign workers, etc. that helped him win race after race despite the desperate attempts of the Democrats.
Trump did the same--he created his own organization (which Obama did as well fwiw). General party organizations exist to suck cash, direct it toward friends of the general party organization (consultants, financiers, lawyers, etc.) and keep out the riff-raff candidates the same way that a banker listens politely to folks that they are never going to give a loan to. They ghost them.
As an individual, you cannot fix the national parties, what you can do is start local and work your way up. Network, network, network, etc. which means engaging in the community. The votes are in the precincts and a person can easily sway several thousand votes with some work (same basic principle as influencers). Several people in network can sway mebbe 10,000 voters and so on.
Watching netflix, commenting on political blogs (other than Ace's of course), and bitching about stuff never works.
Reading assignment: Get Glenn Reynolds Army of Davids and for classical reading Take Back Your Government by Robert Heinlein. Then figure out how to transpose RAH's techniques into the modern techno framework of Army of Davids and you got game in politics.
BTW, at our local level, a small group of us got rid of a bought commissioner despite him outspending our candidate by about 10:1 and having endorsement from all the major suspects. We have beaten back developers with deep pockets, kept sanity on the schoolboards, influenced local Assembly critters and even a congress critter etc. You do have to spend time doing it which is what most people object to. By the time that it is too late, there is nothing to be done at that point.
Writing individual letters to congress critters, voting for them, and occasionally dropping a bit in the box, are all things that you should be doing anyway. But, rolling up your sleeves and building voter coalitions is the real work that conservatives can and must do to wrench control away from the corpocrats that seek to be our feudal overlords.
The change will not come from the top down--the Mitches, Burrs, etc. are made men in the sense of the COC mafia. You have to take out their lieutenants until they look around and no one is behind them anymore. That is the way you win the game.
Trump's folks can give you pointers but if you do not do the ground game, you will get crappy candidates like Roy Moore and lose a winnable Senate seat. To do that, you have to work within the system to push people to someone like Mo Brooks who could have won. To counter the rich guys buying the primary or the COC establishment candidate, you have to outwork them in the field because you will always lack the money that comes from self funders or COC bought candidates.
