Saturday Morning Coffee Break

rise-shine-20150706-21.jpg

Good morning. I'm not sure about you, but I could use a coffee IV drip about now. As we do every Saturday morning, let's take a look at a few things that didn't get too much attention here at the AoSHQ.

***

  • I wonder who has the horrible job of disposal.

  • Dumb f*ck threatens MAGA fan.

  • Even British papers like to feature "Florida Man"

  • There is a new word for douche.

  • Wonder what possessed the kid.

  • Polly wants a 911 call.

  • My how times have changed at college.

  • Oh boy, deep disappointment.

  • If you encourage something, you're going to get it and then some.

  • Not my kind of job. Is it for you?

Not a single car has been down our street since 4 a.m. but then again, no salt truck either :/

26 I have often thought of the current Iranian regime as having much in common with the German Nazi regime in the 1930's. Fascist economic system, xenophobic, radical, militaristic, dreams of expansion, nursing grudges about lost glories in the past, viciously racist. That's one of the reasons I have been sure the middle east has been headed towards one great, final war, of all against all.

BUT given recent reports that Suleimani was the most radical, the most extreme, and the most vicious of all of the Iranian leaders; combined with the observation that everyone else, even in the Iranian leadership, was terrified of crossing him; would WW2 have happened if Hitler had been assassinated in 1936? The regime would have gone on, but what if cautious people trying to protect their own positions and wealth would have been running it instead?

I don't think the current Iranian leadership is composed of "good" people, but I think they like their comfortable lives, and after seeing how Suleimani went out, they don't want to go out the same way.

One of the key parts of any good Florida Man story is the bizarre but irrefutable logic: YES, he was arrested while trying to eradicate wasps from his neighbor's kitchen with a golf cart-mounted jackhammer while naked, and when you read the whole story, you'll see that not only he was perfectly justified, but that it wsa the only good option he had. Not doing so would have been unthinkable.

That leads to a definition analysis: Like things function the same.

Proposition: Feminists are enablers, or at least are of an enabler mindset.

Supporting statement: Enablers need people to be dependent on them out of fear that otherwise they will be abandoned. This dependency situation is a basis for prestige, stability and personal actualization--for the enabler.

Review: No matter what the rhetoric, enablers block self actualization, growth and escape from dependence. This is done through influencing, taking actions to discredit or disqualify the dependent partner, or actually intimidating the person who is dependent to foster greater dependency.

Conclusion: as like things act in a like manner, nothing stated here contradicts the argument that Feminism, as it is currently showing itself, is a form of enabling of dependency, and the people the philosophy is claiming to provide actualization has become a tool to bind individuals tighter to what it is supposed to be liberating them from.

Suggestion: Don't push me or I will start discussing how Domestic abuse is a form of imposed dependency and how most Leftist philosophies match those profiles too.

Tattoos are trickier. Most areas of the country don't have set laws, but 18 is considered/recommended to be the age since the person can enter into a contract without parental consent. Therefore, a lot of tattoo parlors require parental consent for anyone under 18, although some will do it for 17 year olds and the occasional 16 year old without parental consent.

Cuz it sorta relates to the GP hoohah foofaraw.

    Excellent if creepy novel.

And excellent if creepy movie. Frankly, I'm surprised that a story that relies so heavily on scent could make such a good movie.

It's streaming on amazon if you're shut in today and wish to see it.

Also, which I didn't know until now, Netfllix has a series adaptation of "Perfume".

Not sure if they could get an extended series out of the story but a short limited series. Yeah, probably.

I'm listening to Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis. He makes the point that there was no moral values attached to words like gentleman, lady or commoner.
A gentleman was a man who held a title and was a landowner. A commoner was someone who didn't have a title and own land.
A gentleman could be a nasty person and a commoner could have high values.

The FISC (Roberts?) appointed David Kris to help the FBI clean up their FISA mess.

He's a Lawfare blogger, a critic of Nunes, and an apologist for the FBI.

This is a massive cover-up attempt. And Chris Wray has to go also.

Online rating systems have to be one of the dumber things society has come up with... and the list of dumb things we've come up with in the internet age is, of course, nearly infinite.

Not only are people dumb, but they generally don't share my experiences closely enough that THEIRS are bound to be a reflection of what mine will be.

Not to mention, lots of places will tell you "please give us a 5/5, because anything less is the end of the world for our business."

But then there will be some jackal who will rate their proctologist 1/5, because the pen didn't work when they were filling out their forms.

I have, mainly to get a general impression of the person (more helpful when there are a lot of reviews vs. just a few) but also because I've found I can often get an idea of how on time the office runs. Of course, doctors' offices are not generally known for punctuality, but I'll take notice if there are multiple reviews from people saying they waited an hour or more past their appointment times.

My 5 star primary-care dr. was the best. She knew her stuff, was amazing with her patients, she really cared. She had only high ratings from her patients and her staff loved her. She was forced out by mgmt after a healthcare takeover of the local hospital and clinic. Apparently she couldnt keep up with the appt level and time limits the paper pushers required. (She refused to comply). Many, many requests for her to be reinstated were not heard. She moved 50 miles out of the area to practice, and quite a few of her patients followed her. The 5 star rating made no difference to the mgmt

    *********

One reason I posed the question is that I was noodling around at the web page of the facility I used to be affiliated to see if they had removed me from their site (they had). While there, I noticed that the department had published reviews of their physicians as a marketing tool. The reviews were generated from patient surveys generated internally, so no comparison to outside docs or competing groups. Two interesting observations.

    1. Of 45 docs in the department, only 22 had their star-rating published.

    2. Of those that were published the lowest rating was 4.5/5 and the average of all 22 was 4.77 stars.

Smacks of manipulation of data, cherry picking or blatant fabrication to me.

445 Ok, as someone who pays no attention to Brit royals, can anyone give me the one paragraph summary of what's so awful about the gal who married the prince?

I know she's supposed to be black, even though she doesn't look it. So... what else is wrong with her?

She is a psychologist's wet dream.

    Daddy issues
    Mommy issues
    Control issues
    Attachment issues
    Narcissistic tendencies
    Attention seeking issues
    Self esteem issues
    SJW/woke issues

and the worst of all, she's a millennial leftist, with all that entails.

She is a stupid self absorbed biotch who only cares about herself. Oh and she is extremely woke too and she wants to cash in on being a "Royal".

448 And she's wedging Harry away from his family. That alone is bad news.

He may have always had his own romantic notions of being out on his own. Which would make her perfect for him. However, he's only ever going to make a living by being a famous royal, so I don't see where this gets him

Bit actress divorced at least once before minute levels of POC SJW See You Next Tuesday with chip on shoulder.

Basically, if a neo-Nazi wrote a female SJW villain character designed to reinforce every stereotype about women, mixed race people and Leftist subversion of established institutions he'd write her.

So she's had public incidents? Makes public pronouncements?

What I guess I'm wondering is, are people getting tabloid "news" about her, or are there actual incidents she's known to have done?

I mean, besides not being classy enough for the royals, and/or she's a lefty, I'm still not sure what's supposed to be doing that's so bad.

450 Prince Harry used to be my favorite. Despite the rumors about his supposed father, he looks more like Henry VIII than any of them. But here's what I can't get past: Meghan Markle had a son in her second marriage. Ever hear about him? Did he go to this wedding? She probably abandoned him before she met Harry, so he can't be held guilty. But if ever a man should understand the sadness of being a motherless boy, Harry is that man. Yet he's a co-conspirator in letting it continue. Grrr.

451 No news about it but Friday the 100th mile of NEW wall was finished.

That's four more miles in the last three weeks, I think.

The last step will be to electrify the whole thing with nuclear power plants. World's biggest bug zapper.

Archie is the son from her second marriage. She's only been married once before (divorced in 2014) and she was dating someone around the time she met Harry.

453 About that woman and anyone actually, who avoids AA because of the higher power part.
I knew a man who frequented meetings. He said he was an atheist. His higher power was the Seattle PD.
This was in the early '80's when drunk in public would get you an ass whipping. He'd had some experience with that.

454 Vendette, pretty sure Meghan was married in her teens and it was annulled. Perhaps that doesn't count as a marriage?

If it's annulled it's like the marriage never happened.

456 Well, the Ben-Gay is kicking in. I had a bit of admiration for Prince Harry when he was doing Forward Air Control in the Stan. He was wearing an ID strip that said, simply Wales. Now, the Royal Family pulled him from front line duty, and I can see that, he being a prize hostage. Now, he is a prized hostage.
