The Morning Rant

talking ape.jpg
"So with the release of Clint Eastwood's new movie Richard Jewell, a film that portrays the media as amoral scum, sedentary spud Brian Stelter and other amoral media scum got their panties all in a bunch over it. I guess not even amoral scum like being called out as amoral scum. And hey, didn't Stelter's own network have to pay Jewell a ton of money for their slanderous reporting on him? Why yes, yes they did.

"Eastwood isn't just making stuff up here: CNN maligned Richard Jewell, he sued their asses, and they settled out of court bigly. This is not a he said/she said debate over how this was covered. The settlement is established fact.

"So maybe Stelter should just sit this one out.

"This is just the media circling the wagons. Just like when ABC spiked the Jeffrey Epstein story -- and then went after the whistleblower who ratted them out to Project Veritas. And CBS tried to help out by firing the (wrongly identified, as it turned out) whistleblower.

Actually, our national media isn't good enough to be called scum. They're lower than scum. They're grout. Scum looks down on them. They aspire to be scum. But for most of them, it's out of reach."

9 Oh, Pam Dawber co-starred with Ken Berry (I think) in a comic SF TV movie, The Girl, the Gold Watch, and Everything, based on one of John D. MacDonald's rare SF stories. Pleasant doofus inherits a gold stopwatch from his eccentric uncle or grandpa. Watch can stop time from moving outside of its holder.

The idea seems kinds ancient chapeau now, but John D. wrote it in the Sixties. Anyway, Pam plays his lady friend, who may or may not be on the side of the villains trying to snatch his watch.

If they failed to impeach I could see a bloodbath but by being able to get it through the house they can now blame the republicans for not removing trump and use that for the campaigns to fire up their base to get the senate back too.

Their base is small and not in the right places.

It'll save the red district Democrats from primary battles, but it'll guarantee their losses in the general election.

I think impeachment is so baked in the cake right now that the impression of the Democratic Party as a whole will outweigh the individual strengths of individual candidates. Red district Democrats are boned. I suppose they'll fall in line with their potential future paymasters, the institutional left, and hope for jobs post Congress.

87 The Speaker has voting days Tues-Friday of this week. They have to vote on the budget which means a CR. The longer they hold that up, the longer they hold the Senate in Washington. So I suspect that vote goes Tuesday. They might push impeachment vote until Friday. I do not believe that Nancy is NOT whipping this vote.

Looking at the stuff they may vote on this week they are going to pass a bill to change the tax laws on SALT. That won't go anywhere in the Senate. They will probably vote for nursing rooms in airports.

Hays's career was very hot right then, 1980, because of the success of Airplane!.

Dunno about the Gold Watch film, but the novel has some intriguing details about what the effects would be of stopping time around yourself. For instance, the entire world turns red. The hero reaches out and pushes a paper cup someone had just thrown -- it's in mid-air to him in the frozen red world -- and reflects that it feels like moving an object made of lead foil. Then he turns the watch off, everything movies again, and the cup rockets away like a baseball knocked for a home run.

An electric car fanatic and obvious liberal sex toy once made the very sad mistake of trying to lecture me about driving a truck. They proceeded to tell me how I was "assaulting the environment" and promoting fossil fuel use. They didn't like it when I told them it took fossil fuels to produce the electricity to power their matchbox death trap. Nor did they like it when I told them gasoline powered vehicles were more reliable and overall more economical. It ended when they realize I was ultimately not the right person for them to be harassing, we'll just leave it at that.

Those "penis fish" that were "washed up" on California's beaches last week? They aren't actually fish. They're a type of worm that lives deep under the beach sand, where they make u-shaped burrows. They're called Innkeeper worms, because their burrows are often used by other ground-dwelling critters. Usually they live deep enough under the sand that beachgoers don't ever see them and have no idea they're underfoot, but strong storms washed away a lot of the beach sand last week, revealing their gross, sausage-like penis bodies to the world.

This is, in many ways, the story of the modern media.

Imagine when the media is running interference for you - you no longer have to be honest, or especially good at your job. Minor issues fester and explode into scandals. Yeah. My suspicion is that the supposed "improvement" in Trump's approval rating in the media's rigged-up polls has in fact not been improvement. I suspect his actual approval has been holding pretty steady since the end of Bob Mueller's Disasterpiece Theater, and impeachment was an attempt to damage it.

Now that it hasn't, the media is divulging "improving" poll numbers to warn the Party to pull up before they auger in.

That's my operating assumption, anyway. And I'll bet his approval is in reality higher than they are admitting, to a non-trivial degree.

Nor did they like it when I told them gasoline powered vehicles were more reliable and overall more economical. That's why they're coming back with: "and here's all the things we would have impeached Trump for (but we are too chicken-shit to vote on)"

282 Those "penis fish" that were "washed up" on California's beaches last week? They aren't actually fish. They're a type of worm that lives deep under the beach sand, where they make u-shaped burrows. They're called Innkeeper worms, because their burrows are often used by other ground-dwelling critters. Usually they live deep enough under the sand that beachgoers don't ever see them and have no idea they're underfoot, but strong storms washed away a lot of the beach sand last week, revealing their gross, sausage-like penis bodies to the world.

This is, in many ways, the story of the modern media.

287 Don't often rant but have to get this one off the chest.

So my ex has the kids on Christmas Eve and I have them on Christmas Day. Trying to make my own traditions now as the previous ones were obviously blown up with the divorce.

Open presents have brunch with my family, games, etc then finish the day with hosting dinner for the extended family here in town. I never try to impose on what is time with their mom.

So what happens? She's at a friends house with the kids who's house she goes to solo for Christmas Day and the friend blurts out oh why don't you bring the kids this year? What would be the responsible adult thing to do in this coparenting situation???

"I'm sorry the kids are with their Dad that day so maybe to kids could come over and see your kids the day after Christmas? Yeah well no that's not how it goes she instead calls me to ask to have the kids (16,14,8,4) for part of the day because they want to go so bad. I decline explaining that I'm making my own traditions and if they'd want to go on my day the next day I'd be completely cool with it.

Also have the same conversation with the 3 older kids explaining the same exact opportunity.

Issue over right? well thought out, calmly explained to everyone how important it is to have my family together with me on Christmas.

Yeah a new email last night from the ex re-visiting the issue and saying the kids are really pressing her about it and could they just do a couple of hours...on Christmas...the one day a year where I've put my foot down about spending the day with my kids because I've bent over backwards when it comes to respecting long held family traditions of Sunday dinner with my former in laws (who I still am close to but not allowed to associate with) even on "my" weekends.

Just for once could it get through her head that sometimes its necessary to be the adult in the room and shut this down...now I get to be the asshole parent again because she doesn't have the maturity level necessary to be an adult.

Merry Christmas!

The director, Artem Sytnyk, was previously found guilty of leaking the "Black Ledger" on Paul Manfort during the 2016 election to meddle in the election on behalf of Hillary Clinton. He's been caught on tape admitting that was his goal. His agency was where real investigations of corruption involving both Ukrainians and Americans who were stealing from Ukraine went to die.

Hallmark has become the left's newest target.

My mother was telling me that she was reading somewhere about how the networks are trying to figure out how they can learn and compete from Hallmark. Curiously, in the past when a leak of *actual* true misbehavior would have impacted Dems, it didn't happen.

See: Patrick Cannon, mayor-to-be of Charlotte. They knew in June of that year that he was going to be indicted, but withheld the news (and the indictment) until *after* he was elected five months later.

Regardless, the difference in programming is night and day even with the mysteries and detective stories. So much PC bs now that the story is neglected. They just need to stuff it with politics now.

I never watched Veronica Mars until I found it on Prime. It's a great show in the beginning, before the left injected their virus into the system. We paused to watch the movie that came out pre-the last season of the show. The movie was crap, the last season is so much crap. It is like a light switch.

Journalists are supposed to report FACTS, as clearly and impartially as

good point

I'd give them some latitude, if they had a different attitude. The founders recognized the need for "a free press" as another check against the constant tendency of those in power to be corrupted. So "journalists" or reporters can fulfil that role and help protect liberty.

But an agenda to change the world into a globalist totalitarian regime is a corrupted attitude, because the powers that be bought them out, and they are no longer a "free press", they are a bought press. (first infiltrated by Soviets, now several corrupt enterprises are buying the "news" as propaganda (for their anti-liberty fun and profit).
