John Durham: I'm the One With the Prosecutorial Power and the Final Say, IG Obama Holdover

Word is, Barr and Durham are privately "furious" at Obama-appointee Horowitz for pulling a Comey -- mistakes were made, no "intent," case closed.

From the post below:

The omissions -- the deliberate lies and actual fraud perpetrated upon the FISA court -- is "concerning," but none of the rats confessed to having been responsible for the lies, therefore there are no lies, or at least we're going to pretend them away:

We also found the quantity of omissions and inaccuracies in the applications
and the obvious errors in the Woods Procedures deeply concerning. Although we
did not find documentary or testimonial evidence of intentional misconduct on the
part of the case agents who assisted in preparing the applications, or the agents
and supervisors who performed the Woods Procedures, we also did not receive
satisfactory explanations for the errors or missing information....

Thanks to artisinal 'ette for that one.

Page xiv of the executive summary more or less says:

"That so many basic and fundamental errors
were made by three separate, hand- picked teams on one of the most sensitive FBI investigations that was briefed to the highest levels within the FBI, and that FBI officials expected would eventually be subjected to close scrutiny, raised significant questions regarding the FBI chain of command's management and supervision of the FISA process."

There's more but all that's being done? A fucking audit.

That via alexthechick.

Barr and Durham are working together, as we have always said. It's also been pointed out that the biggest hole in the Horowitz report is that he did not assess the CIA's role in an of this. So, if the CIA made up stuff, and gave it to the FBI, the FBI can say "But we relied on the CIA!" and that would be called "justified" under the standards Horowitz was working on.

But that's not real life.

144 I shall not be Willowed:
As I've said for quite some time - "Show. Me. The Money". Oops, account looks empty.

Hannity, Soloman, etc. were all-in on this investigation and Justice Come a Callin'. When its actually an inverse of the Russian Collusion scam. With the Russia scam, there was no evidence, but there was massive appearance of investigatory action making it look like there was. When the smoke cleared, there was no evidence. So it was all talk.
Here, there is evidence, mountains of it, however the was no appearance of serious investigation. All done behind the scenes. They gather all the facts (which, unlike Muh Russia, are damning), but since they can't ignore it, they then right it all off as "mistakes were made, judgment call, etc.". Sound familiar (Hillary Clinton's offenses she walked away on due to "no intent" when the investigation SCREAMED intent).

Difference - there is criminality with the FISA/Coup, but its pooh-poohed. Meanwhile, we'll Lynch Trump because he didn't return the Little Engine that Could to his Elementary School Library when he was 7.

All is not lost. Barr's investigation is what really matters, but only a fool refuses to see this Report as what it is - excusing the crime as "discretion" and undermining Barr to cast his criminal investigation as partisan. This is EXACTLY why you don't let the IG go first, spinning his wheels with limited scope, and why you DON'T do this type of investigation in an election year.

Oh, and any QAnon followers, I hope ya know that is a disinformation op itself, designed to keep Trump supporters docile and compliant and to rely on "official investigations" despite appearances to the contrary, until time runs out and statutes of limitations or terms in office expire. Q says to "trust the plan" when there isn't one. Oops, ya found out too late.

As a guy on Twitter posted, the Left doesn't have to "trust the plan" - they just charge, convict and sentence their political opponents. And Giuliani is next.

Expect Hannity, etc. to take a hit on viewers, ala Madcow. No need to
tune in to hear some false hope. I will live life, but be sure to get back to me when
Barr actually perp walks some muthers. Until then, its oral flatulence.

One more legitimate avenue of consequence removed from us. They are running low now.

Oh, and one more thing - since this whitewashes all the Coup's actions as "discretion", well, there's plenty of time for Trump and his DOJ to start making some "discretionary decisions " of their own on each and every Dem candidate (And some Dem Congress critters, I might add).

I'm a big fan of reciprocity.

146 In all honesty,

If horowitz is going to claim there was no political bias behind the coup attempt, then -

that leaves only one possible motive for the Democrats, and that is that -

they were helping the Russians (the sole source of the Steele dossier info) run a disinformation campaign with the goal of removing a duly elected President of the United States of America.

I believe that falls under treason and insurrection just for starters.

Even if you want to say it's a Ukrainian Disinformation Campaign to etc, et, etc, that's still treason and insurrection.

208 I have tried not to be an eeyore throughout this, but I have always winced when I saw anyone say that this report would lead to prosecutions. There is a fundamental unfairness built into our system with respect to *all* government officials; it might sound comical, but it's a serious flaw. If a government official at any level has been found doing something wrong, and he can claim that it was done because of his own ignorance, incompetence, and inability to his job, then it will be dealt with administratively, not criminally. That's how the system is set up, and a Prosecutor has to PROVE that the employee in question knew the Right Thing to Do, and went against if for his own personal motives. He cannot simply allege that, the prosecutor has to PROVE that.

It is always much much easier for the government employee in question to prove that he is an idiot. In fact, it's almost always a slam dunk conclusion.

RICO (as I understand) puts together the series of "accidents" into a consistent pattern of criminal (sedition/coup in this case) activities. The persistent pattern proves the racketeering .. part of the pattern is observed in the Mueller and Whitaker whitewashing ... the Strzok emails on the insurance against a Trump presidency can't be explained away (except they think they run government, and crippling the POTUS is their highest duty, making them the traitors)

231 Trying to read actual report in spare time today. Is there ANY reference in the OIG report to the Obama admin unmasking or the Admiral Rogers "whistleblower" actions re abuse of NSA data sets by outside contractors?

Anything on HOW the information obtained by the FBI and DOJ pursuant to FISA warrants was ACTUALLY USED and BY WHOM?

I've said all along, the FISA Warrants (which allow 3 hop surveillance to the FISA Targets) make sense, beyond gambit as an "insurance policy" to hamstring Trump, if Fusion GPS or other Clinton Campaign interests were able to get access to the real time intelligence collected as a result of the FISA Warrants.

Yes, it was an "insurance policy," put the real gold to be mined as a result of the FISA warrants was the intelligence about Trump 2016 campaign strategy. We KNOW that third-party contractors abused the NSA database during the timeframe at issue (per that long heavily redacted FISA Court opinion about abuse of the data sets). WHO WERE THEY? What information do they get?

If THESE questions are not answered for the public, then our country is neither free nor governed by the rule of the law.

WHY did the Obama Admin open Crossfire Hurricane? Am I being told that this was just a routine counterintelligence investigation having nothing to do with affecting the outcome of the 2016 investigation? They did ALL of this, just to investigate if Carter Page, Manafort, Pada and/or Flynn were "Russia Assets"? And, that they USED the FISA intelligence product only for this purpose? We know now, that none of these four in fact did conspire with Russia or were Russia assets. OIG report makes clear today, the FBI and DOJ had ample evidence of this fact (no Russian collusion) all the way back at the beginning of the process. But they CHOSE to ignore it, and to mislead the FISA Court. WHY? Isn't the "WHY" question THE entire question here? Won't the answer to this question drive what should happen now?

So, then, I repeat -- WHY did they open Crossfire Hurricane? Because they wanted to collect real-time intelligence on Team Trump.

WHY? The answer MUST BE that they wanted to USE that intelligence, also in real-time.

HOW and WHY? They wanted to pass the intelligence to Clinton, to help her win the 2016 election.

These government types think we're stupid. The People need to start thinking about how to respond.

251 Fox News to Replace Shep Smith With Veteran Anchor Bill Hemmer https://t.co/ered4fheBu

while he is known to interrogate both sides of the aisle, he doesn't have a reputation for contrarianism and outspoken appeals to journalistic integrity that made Smith a hero to critics of Fox News and a villain to much of its audience.

If there's one thing Fox is looking to change with the 3 p.m. hour, it's the ratings. While Smith was widely celebrated outside the network, his hour often came dead last in viewership. Since his departure, ratings for the 3 p.m. hour have spiked.

Wow. This could have been lifted out of a parody done here in the comments.

In context. Was this the first FISA application, and series of renewals, done by these DOJ and FBI personnel? Was there a pattern of these "omissions and inaccuracies" in other applications? For a warrant that gave 2-hop access to ** a f**king presidential campaign**???

How can a spectacular, unprecedented [in significance, and nature] pattern of misconduct be other than intentional, ffs?

At a minimum, Horowitz has fatally discredited himself and maybe even the IG operation itself with this, and the absurd Mid-Year exam report [and recall - AFAWK, that outrage *was* the last word on one of the greatest, completely unpunished, scandals in our history, an Espionage Act crime wave on the 7th floor of State involving the Secretary herself - nobody will likely ever be punished for that].

Durham may well come, but this IG situation [at least for important matters] appears to be a complete trainwreck.

310 US Attorney Durham objects to IG findings on Russia probe origins in stunning statement https://fxn.ws/2E7tsOV

"I have the utmost respect for the mission of the Office of Inspector General and the comprehensive work that went into the report prepared by Mr. Horowitz and his staff," Durham said. "However, our investigation is not limited to developing information from within component parts of the Justice Department. Our investigation has included developing information from other persons and entities, both in the U.S. and outside of the U.S."

Meanwhile, Attorney General William Barr ripped the FBI's "intrusive" investigation after the release of Horowitz's review, saying it was launched based on the "thinnest of suspicions."

"The Inspector General's report now makes clear that the FBI launched an intrusive investigation of a U.S. presidential campaign on the thinnest of suspicions that, in my view, were insufficient to justify the steps taken," Barr said in a statement.

Barr expressed frustration that the FBI continued investigating the Trump campaign, even as "exculpatory" came to the light.

"It is also clear that, from its inception, the evidence produced by the investigation was consistently exculpatory," Barr said. "Nevertheless, the investigation and surveillance was pushed forward for the duration of the campaign and deep into President Trump's administration."

Barr said the FISA report shows a "clear abuse" of the surveillance process.

"In the rush to obtain and maintain FISA surveillance of Trump campaign associates, FBI officials misled the FISA court, omitted critical exculpatory facts from their filings, and suppressed or ignored information negating the reliability of their principal source," Barr said.

He added, "The Inspector General found the explanations given for these actions unsatisfactory. While most of the misconduct identified by the Inspector General was committed in 2016 and 2017 by a small group of now-former FBI officials, the malfeasance and misfeasance detailed in the Inspector General's report reflects a clear abuse of the FISA process."

315 I disagree. I believe highly classified info is grossly mishandled every single day, and unless it's done by someone who someone else has a deep grudge against, it just gets swept under the rug because "everybody does it".

And to answer the obvious question, yes, I believe the vast majority of employees in the FBI and CIA are incompetent overcredentialed pencil pushers.

I mean, he might have noticed his hits are plummeting because who wants to go to a 1990s era aggregate site when you can get better info elsewhere, so he decided to go nevertrump foolishly but... I don't think so.

Well I don't KNOW he sold it, so I was trying to consider two possibilities:

1) He did sell
2) he didn't sell and went NT to try to boost numbers

I'm inclined to believe #1. But as a homosexual man, sometimes they will react very oddly to political changes.
Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at December 09, 2019 02:37 PM (KZzsI)

Even some of the original NT crowd found reasons to come back into the fold as time went on - Beck, say, and some GOPers like Cruz. And after the election seems like an odd time to do the flipping based on some ideological transgression. What would that have been? Jerusalem or Abortion support? Dissing the Academy Awards?

If you were independently thinking of it as a business decision it would be hard to justify flipping after the election and then not flipping back once the loss of views and fans started to kick in.

If it is a backer's policy, well, just keep on plugging for your paycheck.

I assume Durham has info from outside DOJ that will bear on the issue. But the IG's ridiculous straddle about gross abuses from horizon to horizon, and yet doubts about whether they were intentional, really should be the kill-shot for him, and/or the IG system itself.

Yeah yeah we just print zillions of $$$ to cover guvamint budgets [and it's no longer even a topic, much less an issue, in the political arena], but the IG budget looks like a source for savings.

1. Of course we were careful not to look for any such evidence - nor could we tell you what such evidence look like if we did accidentally stumble across any. Nobody at the FBI is stupid enough to actually admit to biased activity. So even when Stzrok said in an email "We'll stop him" we deduced that meant a traffic stop looking for smelly Wallmart voters being smuggled into the country - which is certainly a matter for predicated Bureau investigation.

(1) "Further, the failure to update OI on all significant case developments relevant to the FISA applications led us to conclude that the agents and supervisors did not give appropriate attention or treatment to the facts that cut against probable cause, or reassess the information supporting probable cause as the investigation progressed."

(2) + OIG cites overwhelming evidence of inaccuracies, omissions and failure to follow procedures re all FISA warrants;

(3) Therefore, the OIG has initiated an audit of FBI compliance with Woods Procedures.

Hey Horowitz -- MORON -- If you conduct investigations and the only result of the investigation is more investigations, and there are no recommended penalties or repercussions with the things that, you know, you actually find in your investigation, then WHAT'S THE FRIGGING POINT?!

I give up morons. The real bottom line conclusion of the OIG Report is that we've lost the nation. We live in a facsimile of a Republic governed by a Constitution.

In fact, our Country is governed by the Democratic Party and their unelected surrogates in the federal Bureaucracy, the Media and Academia.

Be very very afraid. All of us that have ever posted on this site (and other conservative ones) are undoubtedly on a list somewhere, and its just a matter of time before we pay a price for not submitting to the Democrat Overlord.

Rule by a foreign and exploitative elite class, while maintaining the pretense of another form of government, of a multitude of nations.

In regards to the foreign designation, that applies not in the technical sense but the more important sense that urban elites have more in common and act as a class/group with urban elites from other countries(this is the source of many problems). They are in a sense internationalist while despising everyone outside of their group(and so are also foreign to the nation in which they reside, ss it is foreign to them).

Yes, this is the pony to be found in this pile of shit, and the Trump Presidency in general. He eposes the corruption, and gives people time and clarity to prepare for the physical phase of revolt. That's why I see his reelection as being very important - not for anything he will do. We need more time. The next Democrat will crack down, and kick shit off. The more time we have before that, the better.

Any secession friendly state *ahem Texas/Alaska* should update their national guard and train them accordingly to defend against federal intrusion.

Finally, secession needs to be done without regard to federal law. for example there are several townships in Colorado that want to secede, but to do so it has to be approved by the Denver government, which is just bullshit. The people you want to secede from are the ones who decide if you can secede? Fuck that shit.

519 BARR Statement:

The Inspector Generals report now makes clear that the FBI launched an intrusive investigation of a U.S. presidential campaign on the thinnest of suspicions that, in my view, were insufficient to justify the steps taken. It is also clear that, from its inception, the evidence produced by the investigation was consistently exculpatory. Nevertheless, the investigation and surveillance was pushed forward for the duration of the campaign and deep into President Trumps administration. In the rush to obtain and maintain FISA surveillance of Trump campaign associates, FBI officials misled the FISA court, omitted critical exculpatory facts from their filings, and suppressed or ignored information negating the reliability of their principal source. The Inspector General found the explanations given for these actions unsatisfactory. While most of the misconduct identified by the Inspector General was committed in 2016 and 2017 by a small group of now-former FBI officials, the malfeasance and misfeasance detailed in the Inspector Generals report reflects a clear abuse of the FISA process.

Barr's clearly not happy with the way things have been going. It might be unprecedented for investigators to disagree this completely and officially with other investigators, and that's at least partly Barr's influence. I don't think Janet Reno went so far to disagree with the Starr Report.

But this is going to take some processing. I imagine this will no better than the previous IG report: a thorough explanation of all the crimes, with "please don't Epstein us" tacked on at the end. I don't trust anyone who claims they're already done reading it, unless they had early access (as the AG did).

538 "The liars didn't come out and say they were lying, so they must be guilty."

Isn't that the thinking of the guy who testified against Trump today? That he didn't come out and tell Zelensky that he was bribing him, so Trump is automatically guilty, per the guy's 10 years of prosecutions of guilty people?

Sauce for the goose...

539 Yeah yeah we just print zillions of $$$ to cover guvamint budgets [and it's no longer even a topic, much less an issue, in the political arena], but the IG budget looks like a source for savings.

I wish that were true, but IG"s aren't going anywhere. More than likely, if you dig deep for days into one of the millions of regulations propagated by some agency or law that was enacted by Congress, you will find a rule requiring an agency to host and fully fund an IG's office, replete with hundreds of lawyers. It won't be something that Barr, or Manuchin or Wray, or the sec. of Ag can eliminate with a pen, nor can an EO from Trump.

Who do you all think applies to be a "government lawyer"? How do you think they get hired for a particular department in the first place. It's because they knew someone who knew someone and they applied back when a particular party was in control and they were one of the members. And they become buried in the bureaucracy.

Remember the screaming and howls from the jerks at the dept. of AG who refuse to move to where Ag is actually located to do their job? Why do you think that is, LOL. The majority of these people are there to get a paycheck and benefits and have zero interest in the subject of their job.

Also, I highly doubt Horowitz (like Mueller) interviewed and assembled this report all by himself directly. His hundreds of minion lawyers and their legal aids and their assistants are the ones who did this. He just rubber stamped it because he has no ability to actually conduct the thousands of hours of interviews and research on the agency himself. He is simply depending on his staff, many of whom he's probably never met, LOL.

And so we get an HR dictated report. I would suggest you all who are having the vapors right now that it didn't include a dozen people be immediately arrested go do some research on how government agencies work or go talk to someone working at one and get the real scoop.

541 Hillary lied and lied, and smashed hard drives ... Comey covered for her ... couldn't prove intent (which is not part of the law)

Mueller had no predicate, the whole thing was a sham (the Special Investigator had no predicate, was in search of a crime, never had anything). The start of the Trump/Russia fiasco also had no predicate, despite the fake evidence the FBI conjured up.

Mueller put an editorial (not his job) at the end of his investigation to dirty up Trump, saying he had not proven his innocence. Horowitz has an editorial also, but says there were lots of lies and frauds, but he couldn't prove any guilt ... assumes innocence (in the face of blatant evidence)

The pattern is clear ... we will see if there is prosecution and if the real evidence gets its day in court (not the court of public opinion that has been massaged for 3 years, going on four). DeepState influence operations ... the hydra is deep and wide.

543 I've been busy today, so just getting to this..

At the risk of being labeled one of the optimists, what did the report say in terms of statements of fact, vs. Horowitz conclusions?

While clearly the deep state, media and Dems were always going to spin this to be "nobody did anything criminal", I think there is probably a wealth of actual facts that buttress what we've been saying for years.

Whether or not any of that can get past the media gatekeepers is iffy, but that was always going to be the case. Macabe could be arrested, tried and executed, and CNN would keep covering impeachment.

544 "Lisa Page told us that she did not have a formal role in the CrossfireHurricane investigation but may have participated in team meetings to keep McCabe aware of the status of the investigation. McCabe also told us that she was the "facilitation point" between CD and his office during the investigation. As with Strzok, when we learned in this review of Lisa Page's presence at meetings or involvement in any investigative activity, we include that information in this report."

How neat - no formal paper trail to investigate. Just Lisa Page facilitating Strzok and McCabe.

545 I'll bet, somewhere in the Horrorwitz report, there's a piece that says, "Although many mistakes were made, and people didn't do the jobs they were required to do by law which meant a killer could have waltzed into and out of his cell unnoticed, Epstein did, in fact, kill himself."

552 Here is the thing I want to see Horowitz asked when his partisan ass is dragged before the Senate or House.

He documented literally hundreds of errors, and not one of them was in Trump's favor. If all of this were merely incompetence rather than bias then how was it possible that at least some of these errors were not in Trump's favor?

If he says there may have been bias, but it was only bias to see an investigation on a matter of vital national importance was thorough and was seen through to the end then ask him why ALL of the errors in the Hillary Clinton faux investigation were in her favor?

These guys really are contemptuous of us and feel they can get away with anything.

553 It is past time for the perp walks to take place. Everyone knows the guilty parties. Go arrest them. Start criminal prosecutions. If this does not happen it will not bode well for the justice dept.
