Well they had to, after all the Clovis culture paleoindians hunted them to extinction, right?

I like the goache/chalk painting technique. It does not get that ultra-smooth texture like oils that was so important in the academe styles, but it does give you such wonderful texture and pops of color. The technique can give a lot of energy and movement around the characters.

I am not so fond of this composition, but it looks like a portraiture instead of telling some sort of story.

68 The Henry used .44 Rimfire, pretty much unobtanium today. I believe they made a small batch last in the 1930s. The rifles are a high dollar affair when one surfaces for sale or auction.

Somewhat "anemic" round it is said, though for my part this is wankery. You don't want to be on the receiving end of any bullet, I'm pretty confident about that.

This is a shocking indicator of their lack of self-awareness.

Even if they weren't a bunch of cucked-out, tucked-under whinging bastards, this would be deeply telling. This is indistinguishable from something that a communist group would put up.

Kristol, et. al. are openly calling for silencing their political opponents - that is, silencing those aligned with the President.

Listen, Bill. I get that you hate Trump and feel threatened by him. I know that if were not for him, you would not have destroyed your own career and reputation in a pathological fugue state. But you do still claim to be a conservative. When my mother passed in 2014, my brother and I decided to confirm the Remington pedigree. We sent it to the Whitney Museum in Cody, Wyoming, the gold standard for Remington authentication. They would not authenticate it. They did confirm its correct age to be a Remington and concluded it was probably painted by one of Remington's proteges who signed the master's name (not uncommon).

Laredo needs to up his game to a whole chicken on his head like this brave warrior.

I was thinking the same thing. When I took an art class for parents while the children took theirs at the Cleveland Museum we used lots of pastels because they're obviously less messy to use around extremely expensive originals.

Why is it that the so-called "art" community here paints nothing but lobsters, crabs, crawfish, bayous, and streetcars? If you want to buy something with Western landscape or Western themes, you have to go online. I visited an art fair in a suburban town last Saturday night, and amid the usual "southern" drek were some good portraits, of humans, cats, and dogs. But if I wanted a Georgia O'Keeffe-style bluff, or something like this painting above, they'd look at me blankly.

The Plains Indians who made riding a central portion of their culture, yes. Comanches didn't get attached to their horses; the number was the important thing, and if one got shot or broke a leg, well, there was always 20 or 30 more in the string.

I didn't think the farming Indians like the Navajo used horses as their money standard. Horses would have been important, for farming and riding distances to water; but how much land you had was the big thing, right?

I'm not really sure, except that Hillary/Biden and them are on the same side as DeepState when it comes to the graft, but maybe "DeepState" allows them their graft and rape and such, as long as they obey. Who is really calling the shots?

Global banking cartel, FANGS and corps, Soros type oligarchs, foreign cartel powers (Mexican drugs, ME oil barons) ... the hydra.

+1. The last thing you want when you're in the middle of a desperate firefight with Comanches is to have to hunt for the right rounds for your rifle.

I recall reading of an incident where one of the participants of a group, while engaged in a skirmish, accidentally fed a .45 Colt pistol round into his Winchester 1873 chambered in .44-40. It jammed the mechanism and he had to remove the side plate of the rifle with his pocket knife while the fight went on around him.

Big Belly was a title given to older men in the tribes of the PNW.
If you were old enough and smart enough and tough enough to have a big belly you were a very successful member of the tribe.
Lewis and Clark noted that they did not encounter any fat Native Americans until the hit the PNW.

Let's have that talk about the equal value of all cultures, societies, communities, ethnicities and how they equally contribute to the strength of nations.

What poppycock.

BTW; I don't believe that any of those groups should be accorded a place as being supreme over all others. That said, there are some that have contributed more than others to our peace, wealth and comity than others. Just sayin'. And if any other group take offense at their position then they are free to do their darnedest to do better than any other and they're welcome to whatever level they reach. But they don't get to entitle themselves as more noble or more enlightened just on the basis of their color or race.

346 Very interesting re-alignment happening in the UK presently. The Tories picked-up literally dozens of seats that had been "red" (Labour) for generations. At least 2-3 of these seats had never elected a Troy, ever.

But, it also should be noted that the Conservatives lost about 10-seats, split pretty evenly between Labour, Lib Dem and SNP. The losses in England were mostly in heavy REMAIN voting, upper-class districts that used to be Tory strongholds under Thatcher and Major (and before in the Opposition).

As I said, interesting.

IT'S FUNNY CAUSE YOU CAN'T CRITICIZE A SPECTRUM CHILD CAUSE SPECTRUM BUT WE SHOULD HEED THE SAGE WORDS OF THE SPECTRUM CHILD BECAUSE SPECTRUM. AND THE SPECTRUM IS A FLOOR WAX AND CONDIMENT TOO!

491 Or better yet - don't engage in a fight you don't even WANT to win.

These weak sisters can't even bring themselves to call Hunter Biden as a witness because that is too controversial.

Too controversial in a trial about whether to kick the President of the United States out of office.

Hard to be a thread winner in an open thread, but that did it.

Thread winner!

More needs to be said about the chickenshit strategy of hiding behind children to try to advance your message and deflect all reasoned criticism as "cruelty to a child".

Either they are mature enough to enter the political arena, thus fair game, or they should be kept out of it.

They can't have it both ways.

493 I'm all in. Let the GOP fall. Better the enemy in front of me than beside me.

do you have any sense in your head?

yes I'm advocating to just let the Left run everything, sure, whatever

I'm advocating NOT BEING AN IDIOT

I do think only Trump is truly on our side but within that framework we can still make the Rs do the right thing. Trump is showing us how, support that and BE SMART

your way we have enemies all around us and whoops we're dead

494 Pug Mahon #330: ...Russell... Buffalo Bill Museum in Cody... scores of old letters he wrote that featured pen and watercolor sketches pertaining to what he was writing about...

Those letters with sketches would really be something to see. That's great, especially that they are preserved.

495 All of his Remainer angst comes from the fact that
his living situation in Spain will get more complicated if Brexit
actually happens, and he's really pompous about it, wrapping himself up
in notions of right and wrong. It's all about his house in Spain, that's
it.

Posted by: TheJamesMadison, Strong with the Force Schwartz at December 13, 2019 11:07 AM (q80AH)

This seems to describe the bulk of the REMAIN camp. They were never
really British to start with and therefore have no investment in the
history/culture and are pretty much looking for free stuff, OR they are
upper-class continental-minded crybabies who think British
history/culture is gauche and, ahem, deplorable.

Posted by: DocJ at December 13, 2019 11:10 AM (77WPm)

yeah, jagoffs. I don't want some guy in Spain to lose his house or some guy from Poland to be kicked out of Britain. But I doubt either of those things will happen unless the EU goes crazy and gets draconian for pay back reasons. THe reality is London is a net importer of E.U. types. British college grads are not flocking to Athens to find jobs.

Remain is a religion. It is taught in schools and almost universal with celebrities. There are exceptions of course. The clever comedian Eddie Izzard took his E.U. love to cult like levels.

The Left runs the Senate now. You said so.

Does the Left running the Senate as a minority make you feel better than the Left running it as a majority ?

These are your words - your entire rationale for not fighting this in the Senate. I'm simply taking your words to a logical conclusion.

If the GOP doesn't run the Senate when in the majority - then the sooner the GOP dies, the sooner something better takes its place.
