The Morning Rant: Minimalist Edition

punk-monkey.jpg

This is what I wrote to Chick-fil-A about their recent about-face and their patently offensive support -- no matter how small or indirectly given -- of the SPLC.

I frequented your restaurants primarily because of your refreshing attitude toward the all-too-common tendency among American corporations to bend the knee to the progressive mindset and pressure. Unfortunately your recent actions have made me rethink my patronage. I will no longer spend any money at any of your restaurants until you revisit your offensive rejection of some of the finest charitable organizations in the country, and actively reject your recent support for organizations such as SPLC. As has been pointed out in many places, Popeye's has an excellent chicken sandwich.
I am not a significant consumer of fast food, so this will have little effect on their bottom line. But I do not rely on fast food for my gustatory pleasures and needs, so this will have no effect on me either.

What troubles me is the reversion to the corporate mean, which more and more seems like a pale reflection of a discussion about "How Things Should Work" during a class section of Sociology 212: Progressive Theory in Corporate America.

And...the experience in their restaurants is uniformly better than any other major chain, with polite employees, spotless restaurants and speedy service. The big question is whether it is the obviously eroding religiosity (dumping the Salvation Army is a tell) and conservative ethics of the corporate culture that drives the company's excellence?

Because if that is the case, then it is only a matter of time before we see bums in their bathrooms, Sunday specials of ersatz chicken on a gluten-free bun, and further grovelling to the pinch-faced scolds of the Left and the angry soldiers of the professional homosexual movement.

By the way, the answer I got (it was prompt...I'll give them that) was a masterpiece of corporate bullshit, coupled with the obvious and uncomfortable fact that it was generated automatically, and that no human read my note. It's below the fold if anyone wants to wade through the crap.

Hi XXXXXX,

Thank you for reaching out to us. We know you care a lot about Chick-fil-A and the work of the Chick-fil-A Foundation – and we truly value your feedback and appreciate you’re taking the time to share with us. Please know that you have been heard.

The mission of the Chick-fil-A Foundation is to nourish the potential in every child. For more information on the Chick-fil-A Foundation’s giving, we strongly encourage you to read our announcement directly from us here: chick-fil-a.com/2020foundation

As you will see, the Chick-fil-A Foundation announced that in 2020 it will focus its giving to address three critical needs facing children: education, homelessness and hunger. In 2020, the Chick-fil-A Foundation will partner with Junior Achievement USA, Covenant House International, and more than 120 local food banks in the communities where Chick-fil-A opens new restaurants. Moving forward, the Chick-fil-A Foundation will reassess philanthropic partnerships annually rather than make multiyear commitments. All organizations – faith-based and non-faith-based—will be considered for future partnerships.

You can also visit chick-fil-afoundation.org to learn more about our refined giving approach and how we will work with our 2020 partners to help all children reach their potential.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your comments and concerns with us. We hope to have the opportunity to serve you in one of our restaurants soon.

LOL I saw that. Dems whipped up a fake poll because they want Beto to run, because without him they only got a sad sack collection of nobodies with no money to run against Cornyn.

But they're all hiding from the fact that Beto is politically dead in Texas - all any campaign against him from now on needs to be is constant clips of Beto saying he's going to send federal agents door to door to confiscate everyone's guns. Oh, and legally persecute any church that won't perform gay marriages.

The only way Beto comes in is if some other millionaire kicks in a huge payment for it to happen, but I doubt that happens.

50 CFA got a lot of "social credit" from pretending to stand up against the SJW bullies ... now we find they not only backed down, but are funding the commie bastards.

Can they keep the "Christian" virtues in their stores, and maintain sales growth? maybe, idk. But they got a boost from pretending to be the Christian standout against the Corporate PC madness, while becoming turncoats in practice (on the funding side at least).

The crazy part is that the original attacks were based on the CEOs beliefs outside of his corporate life. Same when the Mozilla CEO got taken out for not being "WOKE" ... and it seems likely that Soros is one of the main funders/drivers of the Antifa style groups constantly on the attack.

I know that, big picture, they are hated because they are unabashedly Christian. There is no pleasing the mob. However, I would bet the CFA Foundation's donations have been Lefty for a while, since this is not the entity that caused the LGBTQ outrage in the first place.

Still sucks, but it is an important distinction that makes their outrage even more petty, since who TF are they to micro-manage how a business owner spends their own dang money?

The fucking commies that run the education system in this country have destroyed it.

The only homeless children in the US are the ones abandoned by their worthless shit-heel drug addict or illegal alien parents.

And the Mr Potato Head kids got that way because of the stupid commie-run US government dietary guidelines, parents that don't care, and a planned campaign to eliminate physical play for children. A few weeks later I got an email inviting me to complete their more extensive application. I was seriously considering it - I could use a career change. But then I heard of the store in - where? Great Britain? - that closed due to gaystapo complaints, and now this SPLC fappery.

Keep fucking that chicken, guys. You went for woke; hope you go broke.

156 Speaking of predictions, I will haul this out. Note that there are a number of candidates who have come and gone since this was written:

Predictions for someone to google and point to and say what do YOU know anyway:

Won't make it to Iowa:

Marianne Williamson (ultimate vanity candidacy, she won't be able to qualify for the ballot)
Wayne Messam (Who? Exactly)
Tulsi Gabbard (she's burned too many bridges)

Drops after Iowa:

John Delaney (self funded vanity)
Andrew Yang (self funded vanity)
Julian Castro (old, old news)
Amy Klobuchar (last finisher for the women)
Kirsten Gillibrand (next-to-last finisher for the women)
Seth Moulton (maybe - he might not get to Iowa, candidacy doesn't have any reason for being. Against the Iraq War? So was/is Trump.)
Eric Swalwell (candidacy is to troll Trump - a costly way to do it)
Jay Inslee

Drops after NH:

John Hickenlooper (honestly I just needed to put someone here)

Drops after SC:

Beto O'Rourke (he can fund himself past a poor showing in Iowa, and the big dropout after Iowa will make him look like a mover until he gets to SC)

Drops after Super Tuesday:

Elizabeth Warren (nobody really likes her anyway - Super Tuesday will demonstrate that definitively)
Cory Booker (he will already be reeling from going nowhere with the black vote in SC)

That will leave the field with this:

Joe Biden
Pete Buttigieg
Bernie Sanders
Kamala Harris

Bernie will run to the convention regardless of where he is. But he is already done.

Now here it gets tricky - Harris I don't think can win but the Dems can't let the last candidates all be white men. UNLESS - she drops out, immediately endorses Biden, and Biden says, immediately, I will be glad to have her on my ticket when we get to the convention. Despite the fact I think he won't win, this might actually make him win. If those campaigns are too bitter with each other to do that, that only leaves one candidate:

Buttigieg

I'm not saying that any given person should stop eating at CFA. But, if you started supporting them when teh gheys were trying to bully them, you may want to reconsider your support.

In fact, someone better at social media might want to consider advertising the "12 days of no CFA". So, the two weeks before Christmas*, stop patronizing CFA. And to rub salt in their wounds, donate the money you would have spent to either the Salvation Army, or the Fellowship of Christian Athletes or both.

I suspect if they see a double digit downturn in sales they might want to reconsider what the CFA foundation is doing.

* just a suggestion, one could probably find other, better times

"A child born in the middle East on February 5, 1962, will revolutionize the world and eventually unite all warring creeds and sects into one all-embracing faith. This person, who has been the subject of some of Jeane Dixon's strongest, clearest visions, was born of humble peasant origin. Mankind, she says, will begin to feel the great force of this man about 1980, and his power will grow mightily until 1999, at which time there will be peace on earth to all men of good will."

Now that I look at it again, no, it doesn't sound much like BHO. We certainly didn't start to feel TFG's "great force" in 1980 (unless you happened to be a choom dealer), and 1999 was not a special year, and he wasn't born in 1962 or in the Middle East.

Except for the "peace of earth" bit, it sounds more like Khan Noonien Singh!

Kamala because she made herself look really weak through her awful presidential campaign, and Newsome through the number of crises that he's done nothing to abate in his state.

Often, though understandably, misattributed to Hillaire Belloc.

BTW, I really hate the way corporate-speak goes in for "it will focus its giving to address three critical needs facing children: education, homelessness and hunger." WTF does CFA have to do with the first two? Are they setting up classrooms and cots in their stores? (And why didn't they address climate change and LGBTQWERTY rights? Fascists!)

Fortunately, my wife makes a better chicken sandwich. So I never go there anyway. (I did a few years back for the support day, but that was it.)

311 >>What I don't get about any preemptive spin is that the truth is that much more crushing when it comes out. The higher your expectations, the greater your disappointment and all?

Unfortunately, that's not how it works. Look around, people have been freaking out since this leak came out through one of the long time leak targets of the deep state, Devlin Barrett, last night.

Many people are convinced it's true because why would the same people who lied to you for 3 years about Russia collusion lie to you know? Yes, it's dumb but there you go.

The goal is to get enough people spun up so badly they don't care what truth comes out and will already start insisting the IG report is a whitewash. It's already happening and those people will never admit that it isn't a whitewash even if the facts say otherwise.

It's called narrative building. It's been going on for years. And no matter how many time they do it, no matter how many times it's pointed out that this is what is going on, we go through these same periods of spin Every. Single. Time.

393 Regarding fake tiddies, I have a true tale of joy. Once, long ago, when I worked as a counselor for severely emotionally disturbed yutes at the local high school, on contract as an employee of the local community mental health center, I had to "work" over spring break while all the faculty was off. This consisted mostly of just wasting time back at the center with the rest of the outsourced counselors. A colleague, let's call her "April" invited me to another office. "Why?" I queried. "Deshay (let's call her) wants to show you something." It was her new D cups. Got to feel them too. They were fake, and spectacular!
