Truly Thankful After All These Years
Tonight's Today's Feel Good Story of The Day.
During World War II, Melpomeni Dina was an orphaned teenager living with her two sisters in a one-room apartment in Greece. Recently she met the ancestors of the family she helped save from the Holocaust. The Mordecai family was a Jewish family who owned their own businesses in Greece when the war began. Miriam Mari taught sewing classes at the fashion store she owned. One of the students was Efthimia Gianopoulou, Dina’s older sister. Mari gave Efthimia the lessons for free because she knew that the orphans did not have much money. When Greece surrendered, life was changed forever for Greek Jews. The Mordecai family hid in a false ceiling in an abandoned Turkish mosque for around a year. Poor ventilation and lack of space led to health issues for the Mordeci family so they needed to find a new place to hide from the Nazis.

I can ditto this. The wife has been diagnosed with a degenerative neuro condition that is beginning to accelerate. Having this Haven of humor and sanity has been a Godsend to say the least.

New feline overlord 'Scout' who kicked the door in with a vengeance yesterday afternoon is napping between devilments. 9 week old stray from the shelter stormed the ramparts and is gonna be a real handful when he's big enough to jump. Turd #1 slept on the floor last night next to his cat house and when he started crying in the night comforted him and they are I think gonna be inseparable...

Mine is a Husqvarna, bought new maybe ten years ago, now. Briggs and Stratton engine with a carburetor. Starts every time, but it has 120 volt electric start. Put an extension cord on the built-in male plug, hit the red button, and it cranks up in any weather. And no battery to go dead in the cold! Also has heated hand grips, but I was wearing surplus Aviators' mitts today, so I turned the grips off. Hands stayed nice and warm, in 13 degree temps.

When I was a kid, we raised turkeys and would also have wild turkeys come into the yard. One day the two groups were fighting and my mom went out and hit one with a broom, broke its neck and we had turkey dinner. Best turkey I can remember.
