33 This will run in section E next to the grocery ads, even Fox News won't report it past day 2, and the shampeachment continues unabated.

They have decided the Trump will resign. That's the memo everyone got and everyone is pushing. So that's the only story we'll get: "When is Trump resigning for his multitude of CRIMES!?!". Actual crimes will not be reported.

Sadly, they know they have the numbers. The INSANE social pressures the left has put upon anyone who supports Trump has broken the GOP in the suburbs. If you have to work in a city with leftists everyday, you've already surrendered on Trump to keep the peace. This is REAL and has happened. That's why there's no fear from the left anymore, no matter how insane they get. They've already made his name mud in enough places that count.

Sorry to Eeyore, but I can't ignore all these special elections anymore. Unless Trump can manage a 180 on the entire narrative surrounding him, he's already toast.

Prior to Barr, I was all in on 3

After Barr I'm placing my bet on 2.

I suppose there's an outside, infinitessimal chance of a referral that matters. Comey, Clapper, Brennan, Yates, Lynch. But this would shock me very much.

There is a zero percent chance that Obama or Clinton will be referred.

Assuming whoever is referred is indicted (a big "maybe") there is also a zero percent chance of conviction.

Barr indicated they were perhaps into the last 10 days of review ... that was a week ago? ... so tick tock ... either that or they will announce ... "before Christmas, this time we swearsies" and it will come out on Christmas Eve .. ruining the holidays.

Posted by: Ian S. at November 18, 2019 08:18 PM (6XLoz)

Saying they are open to donating to Christian organizations means not that much to me. Heck, have you seen some of the Christian Organizations out there these days? And did anyone really think they were about to announce they would be open on Sundays?
The question today was about abandoning The Salvation Army and some others over LBGT protests and false claims that these groups are controversial and against gay people. The Salvation Army has commented on twitter and they don't seem to happy about this.

Chick fil A can do what they want. They made a decision and of course they are not going to fan the flames even more. But a lot of people supported them for standing up against the bully Left. They are going to lose a lot of customers.

There Twitter has been peppered by people complaining about this and they have chosen to ignore the responses why still responding to comments about forgotten fries etc. We always here about get woke, go broke. Well, this might be the biggest overnight example I can think of. At least Starbucks and Dicks started with mainly lefty or a political customers. But Chick Fil A has always had a foundation of conservatives and Christians. But you don't have to be Christian to see abandoning the Salvation Army the week before Thanksgiving is going to look bad.

Again, they can do what they want. Most of these companies should focus on providing products and forget the rest. But no way Chick Fil A doesn't face a backlash here. And I have seen nothing to counter the general news of the day that CFA dropped some "controversial Christian" organizations so as to placate the Left. My guess, and it is only a guess, is the bashing they took in the UK recently set this off.

Yes. This is the Left. I saw a clip last year that epitomized them. It was The View waaaayyyyy back when, criticizing something Sarah Palin said about I think Joe Biden. And Behar and company were saying she's terrible, she's awful, she's all these things and it's such a terrible thing to say about Joe Biden (Twitter wasn't around then, but sound familiar?).

So Palin comes out the next day after the storm and basically apologizes and said she was being lighthearted and not to take it all so darn seriously.

So what followed from The View? Were they pleased she backed off of what she said? Were they placated? Did they commend her? No... Behar immediately yells that it proves how weak she is. And a liar.

The other is one of the rock stars from my dot.com life. He worked for Trump in the aughts. He's taken Trump University off his LinkedIn profile, but kept the Apprentice. I haven't talked to him lately.

Also the "conservative" rage mob will endorse Handgun Control Inc former spokesman Jake Tapper to moderate a Presidential debate while the progressive rage mob:

https://t.co/Mvr5lab32h

"The Democratic National Committee and the news organization Politico are locked in an argument over the ideological credentials of a proposed moderator for next month's Democratic debate, sources familiar with the matter told NBC News.

Politico's decision to push for Alberta has rankled officials at the DNC, as well as some journalists at PBS and even Politico, the sources said. The reason: Alberta previously wrote for National Review, a conservative magazine, and has spent the bulk of his recent career chronicling the Republican Party.

Democratic Party officials say such a journalist is ill-suited to co-moderate a debate meant to better inform Democratic voters about their potential nominees."

The "conservative" rage mob is really bad at this game...

I am not going to do the sour grapes routine. I think chick fil a is decent. But they are not that convenient for me, we have ten times, make that twenty times as many Mcdonalds in our region. Chick Fil A is fine, but it is not earth shattering. I reviewed the Popeyes Sandwich vs Chick Fil A a while back and both had their strong points. The Popeye's sandwich had more pizzaz but it would be hard to eat it all the time.

I guess what I am saying is I can easily live without Chick Fil A. Others will feel differently. It is fine, but not something that will draw me in regardless of other factors.

I admit the Left has done a good job of buttressing companies and entities that piss of conservatives. You don't see TGT, or SBUX or even Dicks collapsing. The car rental companies that turned on 2A supporters seem to still be in business. They were smart, they went all in together so it made it hard to boycott them. Even the Dixie Chicks got a lot of support from the Left when conservatives tuned them out. But no way the Dixie Chicks are as big as they could have been. Some costs don't stand out as they are obscured over time.

But I think CFA is a different matter. They are based in the South. They already have a significant level of support from people who respect their values. I think they will pay a price for this. And to those that say we should wait 48 hours, that is not bad advice. But I have been searching this for many hours now and I am not seeing the fake news. It seems like a legitimate change of policy. And even if we are all wet, so what? It shows them how serious their conservative fan base is about things.

I'm already boycotting Starbucks and Jiffy Lube (the latter for unrelated reasons). The only reason I haven't done the same with Pepsico is the only cheap restaurant reasonably close to work is a Pepsico restaurant (I suppose I could start eating lunch out of the vending machine again, though). 340 Been doing some depressing reading for a project recently and I'll be darned that the same partisan divisions keeps coming up again and again in history when republics crumble and with the same precursor behavior being displayed today.

Basically, there ends up being two parties--one is more aristocratic (Moneyed) than the other. Guelphs and Ghillbellines (Florence), populares and optimates (Roman), Green and Blues (Byzantine), Roundheads and Cavaliers (England), Ghirondists and Jacobins (France), the Mensheviks and Bolsheviks (Russia), Democrats and Republicans (U.S. Civil War) and so it goes.

Usually, the aristocrats make up the deficiency in numbers by adopting clients that can be bought by their own purse or the state while the populist parties bear the brunt of the bad behavior of clients of the other party, taxation, and shriveling of commerce.

Eventually, the system breaks down and things get sporty until order is restored because no one dares to leave office and power in order for peaceful transfer of power to occur. Once a party goes down a crime ridden series of events, they cannot afford the cost of justice for the crimes committed. Thus, they try to seize the state and criminalize the opposition. Which leads to the opposition seeking to do it to the original offending party but better.

The good news is that periods of calm lasting for decades can occur, usually though under the enforced peace of a tyrant.

Whether you want it to be so or not, corporations support various value-laden enterprises. Well,
in particular that's often the case; but in general, there are some
important abstractions and principles worth discussing and arguing.

Most
good people do not fight evil and, when pushed, submit to it. Some
good people are able to fight evil to a tremendous degree (e.g. Trump,
patriots and others in various capacities, etc.). And the rest of us
who want to fight, but can't for various reasons (like working our asses
off to be self-sufficient and raise families versus being parasites)
need to support those who are actively fighting evil. [Again, h/t

401 The hysterical thing about Chairman 2nd Trombones hearing is that it is pretty much the last day the Senate will be in session and then they close up shop for a month.

The clock has been pretty much been run out on prosecutions, there effectively cannot be any in 2020, that is if anyone is actually indicted.

There have been a slew of people referred for indictment, nobody has actually been indicted and a number have gotten declinations to indict.

I eagerly await the release of the Horowitz reports to see just how boned we really are.

407 357, There is a rather stupid business school homily that a corporation must grow or die. But, just like cancer grows really fast, corporate growth will slow, profit will fall, new markets will be more and more marginal in contributing positive cash flow.

Fast food is a perfect example, once you made it to the top, you are already passe and you are running like heck to stay in place with new and more nimble competitors. Strategies get ossified, food quality deteriorates to the mean, and so on. The entrepreneurs usually then sell out at the peak if they are smart or take a tumble if they don't.

It has happened to every food chain that gets big enough so they go looking for global growth. Works for awhile for some and then that sours too.

CFA may take the hit today to sell out for a higher price in the future when they roll out their global strategy. It will happen and eventually the food will be indifferent as the chain becomes too big to manage and settles for mediocrity.

More or less, do not put your trust in princes and even less in a corporation to reflect your values.

If the Salvation Army and FCA was smart, they would put major pressure on the franchisees to have local fundraisers for them at franchises which do have the power to override even the Cathey family. If the Cathey family tries to retaliate against the franchisees for this, they will have major problems.

That gets it into the granular level that the Cathey family is not going to want to play at by raising the costs to corporate of wokeness and also bringing the battle from 40,000 feet to the local level.

Complain to the franchisees and ask them what they are going to do about it as they effectively have a lot more power to influence corporate then individuals do.

i am not calling for a boycott of CFA. I won't be eating there but to each his own. I am calling for helping the Salvation Army score a record holiday season of giving this year. That would stand out and could easily done by those who are pissed about this. Of course include the FCA and the other org that got dumped. I don't get how they can go after those kind older people standing in the cold ringing a bell.

A lot of people went out of their way to find a location and spend an hour or more in line That was political, it was not about chicken. That is why I am positive they will lose some customers unless the narrative changes drastically. I don't expect it to change. It is going to be just like Enterprise Rent a Car et al a few years ago. You make the decision and live with the fallout. Same with Target. And target did weather the storm if you go by stock price.

CFA *finally* opened a store near me, over in Burbank, literally right across from the NBC studios where they film their national shows.

yeah, they get tons of tourists, but the store is almost always doing land office, not just busy, and the customer base are the local 20-30 somethings who should be woke, and who w*rk in the Industry (they have their badges on) .

the base is also *very* mixed, with all sorts of the local ethnicities mixed in.

this was, from what i can see a TOTALLY unnecessary own goal... if *this* population isn't boycotting CFA, no one is.

477 401, People keep pretending that there is a formal rule against indictments during election years but that is not true. Here are the DOJ formal policy statements governing prosecution: https://preview.tinyurl.com/y2cr63xv 9-27.220 is the relevant passage. What a lot of folks are viewing is the AG Memo that claims that the timing and charges of candidates should not be done for political purposes, Holder did on in 2012, and Bush's last AG did one in 2008. However, AG memos are not formal rules.

That being said, look at what they did to Ted Stevens, he was indicted by the DOJ in July of 2008, convicted in October of 2008, lost his reelection in Nov. 2008, and then had the conviction set aside in April 2009 due to prosecutorial misconduct before--wait for it--Judge Sullivan.

That policy does not apply to indictments of ordinary bureaucrats like Comey, Brennan, etc. because they are supposed to be "apolitical".

482 @454

Listen, I would be at peace with everyone escaping justice and having what they did exposed and steps taken so that it could never be tried again by a Democrat administration but I don't think even that is going to happen.

For G-ds sakes, we still have Deep State operatives plotting and moving against the President and his people in real time.

There is no recovery from this, I don't know what we can do about any of this, we certainly cannot vote enough people into office to turn the tide.

This is scary shit we are facing with no correcting course of action.

Even if Barr were to indict some of the prime movers, it would take around a year to go to trial, so you are effectively looking at a theoretical start date for any trial.

You better hope Trump wins re-election, if he doesn't then all of this just goes away.

Fat lot of good that's going to do them when the indictments come down.

And it's not going to get any better when the Ukraine pay-for-play and Epstein scandas are blown wide open.

A new chapter of FCA got started at my high school (mumble) decades ago. Now, this school already had FFA (Future Farmers of America) and FHA (Future Homemakers of America, which apparently no longer exists as such).
The homeroom teacher was reading the school announcements. "FCA meeting after school today... FCA? What's that? Future Criminals of America?"
Heh.

No offense intended toward FCA, which is by all accounts a fine organization.

496 The way I see it, either it's gonna be a Nothingburger with cheese, and it's been delayed for so long so that it's dressed up to protect against the backlash from our side; or it's going to be absolutely incendiary on stilts and it's been delayed for so long so that it's ironclad against the backlash from the Left.

Understand, it's not that I don't think there's a great deal of dirt to be found-- the Deep State clearly thinks it's their country and the elections are mostly decorative, so it'd be impossible for dirt not to build up in the circumstances, even if people like Obama himself weren't almost certainly involved. But the question in my mind is whether anybody can deal with the personal cost the Deep State will exact on anyone honest enough to find and report it.

But honestly, it's a moot point by now. As others have pointed out, even if they passed out well-evidenced criminal indictments of big-name pols and functionaries the way Oprah passes out surprise gifts, it's not going to successfully go to trial unless Trump holds it in 2020. Otherwise the accused parties will bluster, talk about all this being further proof of Trump being Hitler, and the incoming Dem will make it disappear by hook or crook.

Still everything to play for in 2020, I think. We've lost the element of surprise-- they'll fire up the cheating to maximum, and turn out the illegals to vote in force this time around. They won't leave this one to chance. On the other hand, the Democrats will be going into the election after multiple consecutive years of being honest about how badly they want to screw the country, which I don't think they've ever really been before. That might balance things out a bit.

I guess we'll see, hmm?
