MIL Update:
Mom's doing much better, we found a terrific Assisted Living facility nearby, and spent today beginning to move some of her stuff there (it's essentially a studio apartment, talk about downsizing!). We'll finish tomorrow, and she moves in Tuesday.
This is cool: They're having a big Thanksgiving Fest/Dinner Tuesday night, and we're all going to be there with her (and 200 other folks). Should be a great way to immerse her in the new digs.
She thinks it's temporary, and it *may* be, but likely not. So we shall see. One good thing is that one of her former neighbors is also a resident, so she goes in with at least one person she knows and likes.

I'm not a fan of those huge burgers. They're too difficult to eat. The thrill is all in looking at it. Then you try to bite into it and the layers won't all fit in your mouth. Then parts slide out and everything runs down your wrist. Also, there's so much extra junk you can't taste the beef.
Won't get tricked into buying one of those again.

We did something unusual for us and had Burger King tonight. I spent the day an hour and a half north helping my niece and her husband move. Called wife on the way home that I'm hungry and she's cooking, and that's what I got.

Bernie is a full-on Commie - when he talks about there being too many brands of deodorant and jailing fossil fuel executives, everyone thinks he means exactly what he says.
Warren? Even though Wall Street now says they won't contribute to the Democrats; if Warren looks like the nominee, they'll cut a deal with Warren. After all, she had no problem representing big companies in asbestos litigation. Warren is already backing away from Medicare for All, initially promising just a "public option" (I think that's already called Medicaid).
So Bernie gets the True Believers, Warren gets the academic class (a major part of the Democratic base), along with the fanatic feminists who are convinced that Hillary Wuz Robbed and will never support a male presidential candidate until a women has been elected to the White House.
And both groups hate Biden as much as they hate each other - it would be just incredibly dispiriting to them that just as the Hard Left has captured the Democratic Party, that a "moderate" retread like Biden would be the nominee.
So, this amplifies my support for Biden as the Democratic nominee - I think that he's not physically capable of running a general election campaign, but it will also kill the enthusiasm level among the people who are usually the foot soldiers in a Democratic race.

This is a pretty conservative state - so those issues mostly revolve around the corrupt votes in and around New Orleans (very much Democrat strong holds) and Baton Rouge - but it looks like those precincts are mostly in now so not enough to cheating catch up if the rural parishes in the north are the ones outstanding - which looks to be the case.

As I suspected - Baton Rouge and New Orleans went by huge numbers for
Edwards - and there is still approx. 200 of the 300 precincts there left
to count that are in these liberal strong holds - I think there is just
not enough rural county vote left to count to make up for that - sad to

Maybe - Bel Edwards is pretty good at getting Baton Ruge and New Orleans out and still picking up votes in Caddo and Layfette Parishes. Kennedy is well liked and he's over the top - Louisiana voters really want bigger than life politicians - that ain't Rispone.

Of course a lot of the pre-1900 history timelines feature attempts to redo the Civil War. One timeline has the US losing the War of 1812 and Britain maintaining a prescence in the continental present day US well into the mid-19th century, with some interesting consequences. Another timeline has Joseph Smith, the Mormon prophet, being elected prez in 1844 after renouncing polygamy and embracing abolitionism (he did IRL consider running for POTUS but got killed before he could do so). Smith's election ends up essentially starting the Civil War 16 years early and blending it with the Mexican War....

And Trump didn't just decide to run. He was thinking about it for 30 years. And his successful TV show was critical to getting the rest of America, outside of NY, to get to know him and get familiar with him.
His show was ultimately the biggest reason he started on his roll in the Repub primary.
Everyone already "knew" him.
Others who try to run don't have this advantage.

I don't play lotto very often. But whenever I do, and check the numbers (usually a couple weeks later, because I don't remember until I find the ticket in my wallet) it's always zero numbers matching.
Which is weird because the website checks the ninety previous drawings... you'd think because they're two digit numbers, at least ONE would come up from time to time in ninety draws of five numbers.

a few things about this.

Ahh! But WA is a vote by mail state, and as long as a postmark on the day of voting was on the envelope, it counts. Even if it takes nearly a week to get them all in.
Odd, why did it take up to 5 days to get the local votes from a local election arrive to be counted? We will just leave that one to ponder on it's own.
But what is well known is that there is an ability to get a postmark of the day very late into the evening if you drive to a certain post office and drop it off. It does not show the time, only the day.
And Savant caught up and passed her opponent and won going away.
This is what a corrupt voting system looks like.
Amazon last year responded to the Savant-Commie proposed head tax by canceling an option on a new downtown Seattle skyscraper lease, and getting over 3 million sq. ft. of office space across the lake in Bellevue. Last time i talked politics with my girlfriend, she finally asked me why i support President Trump. I told her I found his personality to be abrasive,as she does (she really thinks Trump is a terrible human being) but the policies he has supported and implemented have been great for the economy. That brought her up short, and the conversation turned to other topics shortly after that.
I've not heard her talk about the Mueller investigation or impeachment. The only thing she's had to say about the President is that she doesn't like him. I hope that's a sign that she, like many others, isn't believing the BS the opposition is shoveling.

Bezos and wife #1 that he just divorced, drove out from NY and their first house was in Bellevue. He literally started Amazon out of his garage.
But the first big corporate office was the big yellow building on the hill in Seattle, overlooking the current T-Mobile and Clink stadiums. Originally that was the VA hospital for Western Wash, empty, and Bezos remodeled it and Amazon started there.
While I am mixed on Bezos overall, he has spent a hell of a lot of money around here, benefiting many thousands of people. Gotta give him props when props are due.

I don't know the details or personalities. But someone at the RNC needs to figure out what is going on. My personal opinion is a percentage is on Trump's style at times and the rest on on a scorched earth media that is getting results. Yes, they have destroyed their credibility but their hair on fire inanity does get results. Many want to avoid conflict and are willing to give up their principles if they had them in the first place. The biggest mistake people make imo is believing just because the media beclowns itself that it doesn't have an effect.
Conservatives should have come on in force to defend the president, Rispone notwithstanding. A lot of people who are not political junkies just don't care enough until it impacts them personally and they are told why it impacts them personally. What other reason can their be? And yes, there is cheating too.

I was having fun with cashing the paycheck at the bank (this would have been the first or second paycheck I ever got) and I got $20 in $2 bills. I stuck them in one of my Civil War books (1400 days, a day by day history kind of thing.) One bill every 10 or so pages.
I just pulled the book off the shelf here: yep, still all in there.

They were round but the engraving within the boundary gave it the appearance of being hexagonal.

Never got around to checking and it is one of those books you just want to have around but never check often.

I have a few $2 bills in my wallet, and once in a while like to mess with young cashiers.
I have had more than one of them tell me it is fake and they won't accept it.
I have them call their manager. One time, the manager agreed. I had a talk with him, pulling out other denominations to compare. He finally accepted it.
I only do that if the cashier is being a jerk and I have time on my hands.

1943 pennies were mostly zinc as copper was needed for the war effort. The few steel pennies made are worth a bit of money.
My brother was born in '43 and kept a glass piggy bank full of the zinc pennies. Years later, the pennies had coalesced into one big blob of zinc.

My parents have the portrait now (my uncle got the P-38 and SS knife- which has the tip broken off because my grandfather used it to pry something loose on the car, he kept it in the garage tool box for 40 years, kind of showed what that one was worth to him.)
The certificate is not in great shape from what I can tell. My guess is it was well used before it even went into my Pappaw's wallet, let alone when it went into the picture frame 70 years ago.

BTW, I thought it was a fun movie. It was the Lone Wolf Mcquade era and genre so it wasn't exactly great. It would be problematic today just because they were Border Patrol. But everything that came before is problematic in this silly age. The funny thing is most of the problematic movies were made by libs, staring libs, trying to make a liberal point.

China, Africa, and the Turks were not willing to accept these changes in full, and did not build on them as was done in Europe.

however, the same tech to cast iron cannon, also can be used to cast pots, and pulleys, and gears, and wagon trucks and rails and then finally be used, along with the tech developed to make draft furnaces in the beginning, to power trip hammers, spinning and weaving machines, pumps, and eventually steam engines. Each step creates more invention and technology, and greater use of power and greater productivity which creates greater opportunities to figure what else you can do.
Traditional societies understand that most things fail, and that time wasted in a marginally subsistance society is effort lost. Better to keep to what you know, the cobbler sticking to his last sort of situation. A more modern society understands there are huge profit waiting for anyone willing to reach for it. But it is not obvious until the idea becomes embedded into a society, and there is enough proof that success will payoff, if it works.
