Another Hate Crime Hoax: Gay Radio Host Is "Shattered" By Unauthorized Tweet from His Own Company's Account Calling Him a Gay Slur;
Analysis of Tweet Proves That It Was Sent From His Own Phone

I smell a GoFundMe coming.

I also smell a 99% press embargo on this story, with a tiny smattering of Slate and Salon opinion pieces saying that the fact that he felt he needed to create a fake anti-gay hoax just proves, all the more, how bad anti-gay hatred really is.

The demand by liberals for hate crimes which can be weaponized into political advertisements greatly exceeds the supply, so they step in to provide it.

60 I was wrong once about a hate crime hoax.

Two years ago, persons unknown bombed a mosque in Minneapolis Minnesota. It sounded hoax like, no one injured, no one saw the bomber, the cameras didn't get any faces, etc.

A few months go by. Hmmm? No followup? Then the FBI arrests three Darryls from Illinois. They confessed that they drove all the way to Minneapolis Minnesota to plant the bomb for "reasons." Not to Chicago, or anywhere in Illinois?

Never understood it myself.

But that one WAS NOT A HOAX.

79 Three weeks later the world was advised of the coming of a new breakfast food, heralded under the resounding name of "Filboid Studge." Spayley put forth no pictures of massive babies springing up with fungus-like rapidity under its forcing influence, or of representatives of the leading nations of the world scrambling with fatuous eagerness for its possession. One huge sombre poster depicted the Damned in Hell suffering a new torment from their inability to get at the Filboid Studge which elegant young fiends held in transparent bowls just beyond their reach. The scene was rendered even more gruesome by a subtle suggestion of the features of leading men and women of the day in the portrayal of the Lost Souls; prominent individuals of both political parties, Society hostesses, well-known dramatic authors and novelists, and distinguished aeroplanists were dimly recognizable in that doomed throng; noted lights of the musical-comedy stage flickered wanly in the shades of the Inferno, smiling still from force of habit, but with the fearsome smiling rage of baffled effort. The poster bore no fulsome allusions to the merits of the new breakfast food, but a single grim statement ran in bold letters along its base: "Epstein did not commit suicide."

If you need a movement to convince you something like that, you probably don't deserve self esteem, or what used to be called pride.

Pride has a reason for it, good or bad. Self esteem is causeless and meaningless and thus empty and false.

According to the police report filed by WWL radio on Tuesday,
the station claims that Dunlap threatened them, and demanded more than
$1.8 million in compensation in a meeting with his legal team and
Entercom's legal team on Sept 10.
Dunlap asked Entercom's legal
team how much money they would pay him before he went "scorched earth"
about the incident, according to the police report.
Entercom did not offer Dunlap any money, so his legal team asked for the $1.8 million payment, according to the report.
WWL
radio claims in the police report that a digital forensic expert
concluded that the homophobic slur was sent from Dunlap's cellphone.

You know, I've been wondering the same thing, but maybe we need another dozen or so high profile incidents to make sure.

Somewhat related, I've been thinking recently, we always hear about the gay "conservative" who has been secretly living his life as a gay man, all while being a public spokesperson for all sorts of conservative ideas.

Has it not occurred to people, when we call these people hypocrites, we're looking in the wrong direction? I mean, the guy is obviously gay, if he's sipping the peener on a regular basis... so what's he doing espousing things like opposition to teh ghey?

He's a phony conservative, is what he is, and the rotten hypocrisy is that he's hiding what he really is, a lefty progressive, selling his fake conservatism, as a career choice.

The latest Office I have is 2010, and I just "upgraded" to that this year. I was running (and still am) Office XP, which goes way back. It didn't want to install correctly on Windows 7, IIRC, but I found some hack to get it to work. It worked with Windows 10 as well.

But I decided to try the "new" 2010. It has annoyed me with the changes.

So I think they're roughly crocodiles of the same size. This is just f*ckery where they're trying to pretend that all of those atrocities were not committed by the command of or hand of liberals/progressives when in fact, they were; and the prog/liberal party (generally the national Democrats as its political arm) has been the ruling party and thus responsible for the actions of USG in the 20th.

It can be very instructive and eye-opening to enable logging on your router's firewall and look at the incoming packets. You'll see constant probes coming in on various ports.

Look up any particular instance, and you'll see it's some well-known exploit that might have been patched years ago.

There are legions of hackers that do nothing but run these port scans over the IP address space continuously looking for vulnerable machines to exploit.

It's amazing.

There was a heart-warming story on the local news this morning about the widow of a member of the Mighty Eighth. Her husband was a docent at the museum until he passed a few years ago.

She's in her late 80s, uses a walker, but shows up every day to take his place as a docent. She also visits the memorial garden with her husband's cremains, and has a spot next to his with her name already engraved, waiting to join him.

It got a tad dusty in here.

I recall the year was 1988, and a group of Soviet civilians visited my area on some type of exchange. There were about 10 of them, a few couples, and one afternoon, a neighbor of mine hosted a BBQ in their back yard. Eastside of Lake Washington neighborhood, middle to upper middle class homes.

I was invited and went. I vividly recall one woman, maybe 35, who was in tears after a few hours. She kept saying stuff like "they just lie to us, the Americans are nice to us and their wealth is incredible."

I really felt sorry for her, and poured her another glass of wine. Good wine. That made her cry even more.

I've been using Classic Shell for years. With Windows 10 they went back to a semi Start-like thing, but it's too different for me, and they changed the layout and function.

The most distressing thing for me when I do a new install is dealing with it until I can get Classic Shell installed.

The fly in that ointment is the new "Metro applications", which they dub "Universal Windows apps" now. Shorcuts work differently with those.

They've added hacks to allow you to start them from the command line now, but it involves something as complicated as using special NTFS reparse points to do it.

You'll notice some 0-byte .exe files, and those are those special reparse points. Don't ask anymore, I don't know anything beyond that.

As a programmer, this isn't really what is happening.
My issue is that Microsoft is trying to serve multiple very distinct user bases with a single OS, while also trying to push surveillance/big data stuff (Cortana) which could allow them to finally get to SaaS on their OS (the dream!)

It's expected that an OS must be patched periodically if only for security reasons; and security patching is often reactive and ends up creating a necessity for further patches. So probably the main culprit for baseline 'updates' is the internet, a constant source of attacks and probes and exploits. It's gotten worse from Web 1 to Web 2.0 to the recent wave of 3rd-world inclusion, as new users bring with them new attempts to exploit.
Apple does patches and updates too, and if you wait too long you risk getting out-of-date and not being able to get support for some kind of critical issue you might run into. Their historic stability is mainly due to 1. heavy limitation on software publishers 2. smaller and more well-defined user base and 3. commitment to aesthetic continuity (more important than you'd imagine!)
Microsoft's success has become the albatross 'round its neck.
