3 Good Morning Morons; today is Saturday, November 2, 2019. On this day in 1920 KDKA of Pittsburgh started broadcasting as the first commercial radio station in the US. The first broadcast was the result of the 1920 United States presidential election.

5 Communist Gov of CA is threatening to seize PEG if they don't stop starting all the wildfires. The stupid SOB refuses to acknowledge that CA's forestry policies are to blame for the raging fires and CA long ago dictated all the problems PGE has. Dean Martin's daughter says she will keep doing her daddy's big hit, Baby It's Cold Outside. A couple of far left radical feminists started protesting the song a couple of years ago, and of course the MFM gave them a lot of air time. Why? Because they are far left. June Carter and Homer n Jethro also had a big hit with that song.

38 I fell asleep on the couch in the family room. Woke up at 4am to the sound of running water. My first thought was that my sister, who lives with me, was taking a shower, which wouldn't be unusual since she works Saturdays and sometimes has a very early start time.

After a few minutes I decided to go upstairs to bed. Get up to the top floor and realize my sister isn't in the shower and the shower sounds are coming from my bathroom.

Walk into my bedroom and find water on the floor. Look into the bathroom and there is water everywhere, spraying down from the ceiling. Conclude that one of the sprinkler heads is the cause of the water.

Go back downstairs and turn off the main water valve. I still hear running water. Look at the water pipes and notice another shut-off valve. Turn that after a few seconds the running water sound stops.

Go back upstairs and discover the water has spread and is now dripping down into the living room. Start mopping up the water, with the help of my sister, who was awakened by her squawking bird.

After we get most of the water up my sister says she smells smoke. I don't smell it. Much debate about whether we should call 911. Finally decide to call 911.

Firemen come and check out the attic. No fire, no smoke, and no water in the attic. That's good. But I can't turn the main water valve back on without turning on the sprinkler system.

So no water, my living room ceiling is soaked, and I'm trying to decide whether I should file an insurance claim.

And that's my morning.

39 Was discussing sprinkler systems the other day with a co-worker that very strangely the place we are workingb doesn't have a sprinkler system though being a total renovation. I mentioned it was a stupid idea to put them in private houses as in my opinion they can cause more damage than help.

40 Got tired of my Harris Teeter beans that have been in deep freeze for 2 years (still good, dark roast still tastes like dark roast). Someone suggested I try DrinkTrade, where they send you a fresh bag within 3-4 days of roasting. Okay, sure.

First bag wasn't the right match (not bad but was medium roast) so they sent a second, darker one. Yep, they're freshly roasted -- you can smell them from inside the bag INSIDE the shipping box INSIDE the mailbox -- but so far I'm not sure freshly roasted beans is making all that much of a difference, at least not with dark roasts. I'm just not wow'd yet. Or perhaps my palate is primitive and easily amused, unable to pick up on notes like toffee, white chocolate and boysenberry (as if that's what I buy coffee for anyway).

And when that failed to happen he tried to get the transcript altered to include nuances that supposedly occurred during the conversation that proved quid pro quo and failed. A conversation that he was not privy too.

When Trump released the transcript so suddenly the democrats plan fell apart because they thought they would have more time to get the transcript altered. They banked on Trump fighting them and not releasing the transcript and he pulled th erug out from under their feet quickly.

91 Yesterday, on Hannity's radio show he interviewed Jeffrey Epstein's lawyer (who cares) and more importantly the retired NY state chief medical examiner who was present at Epstein's autopsy.

The medical examiner said that their was no possibility that Epstein died by suicide. He said that if he had ruled on the cause of death it would have been "Homicide pending further investigation". Even more importantly he said that the medical examiner doing the autopsy agreed and reached the same conclusion.
Two days after the autopsy the medical examiner's finding was overruled by the chief NY city medical examiner - who was not present at the autopsy, and who did not do any further examination or investigation. That is how Epstein's death was ruled a suicide. The ruling of suicide ended any police investigation into the death.

If Epstein was murdered the suspect list is very short. Because he was alone in a locked cell the other inmates could not have been involved as they were also locked down, and inmates generally don't have keys to another inmates' cells (duh). That leaves only the guards. Either one of them was the killer or they provided the cell key to the killer.

229 Municipal power systems aren't inherently awful. Some can be well-run. It's like anything else.

The Lansing Board of Water and Light used to be quite good and people preferred it over Consumers because the rates were lower.

But when the City of Lansing (which owns it) ran into financial trouble, the BWL began making "dividend payments" and cutting back on maintenance. They could do this because - being municipal - they were immune from state oversight.

So when the Big Ice Storm hit a few years back, power was out for more than a week, and the excrement hit the fan. The CEO left town to holiday with his family out of state, which only made it worse.

After that the board was restructured, the CEO let go and locals watch them like a hawk.

California's taking over PG and E will in the short run make the state even more indebted since massive infrastructure improvements are needed. It will also make it impossible for them to sue for damages.

In a sense, it could be a good thing since the governor wouldn't have a scapegoat to blame for stupid forestry policies.

Baltimore failed to bill a major high rise condo in downtown from the date of construction till today.

( Almost eleven years)

City says they owe over 2million in back water usage. for that time. Based on the water meter that was indeed installed, and operational the entire time.

Building lawyers have ten years worth of formal communications by the building owners to the city, explaining that the building owners are not being billed for water.

And would the city please begin sending bills.

Posted by: Anon a mouse at November 02, 2019 08:00 AM (6qErC)

There's even bigger reasons for "maintaining the fiction", and when these are understood, they explain everything about the current situation. PG&E is in bankruptcy, and it's going to take about $60 billion to clear the claims and get them out of bankruptcy. They don't have it, and no one else does either. Add to that the $40 billion (or is it $80 billion? or $100 billion? no one knows) in required upgrades and deferred maintenance, and that's how far in the hole they are. Anyone who takes them over, even the state, (ESPECIALLY the State) has to absorb those costs, and the State doesn't have that money sitting around, either.

Between bad state requirements and incompetent management (because it's been a political, crony run company for decades) the PG&E system has been run into the ground, and is literally the equal of what you find in 3rd world countries. And it cannot be fixed without tens of billions of spending, and no one has that money laying around to give to California.
