It's Entertainment, Not Indoctrination: If I Want Your Opinion I Will Beat It Out Of You.

At some level our diversions also elevate us. Just think of great literature and art and music, and the very, very occasional movie for examples.

But the vast majority of those diversions are nothing more than time-fillers. Hey! it's raining! Let's watch a movie! Let's face it, most movies and TV and cable shows and music are the visual and auditory equivalent of scratching our balls.

And that's fine. There is absolutely nothing wrong with mindless entertainment, and would guess that one could make the argument that it is a healthy way to spend some of our time. Resting the brain, laughing with family...whatever.

And of course the pinch-faced scolds on the Left have set their sights on our simple pleasures, because that's just who they are. Nothing can be left as it once was. Nothing is out of bounds in their game of life.

Young Adults Fed Up with SJW and LGBTQ Tyranny

It was a pleasure to learned that young adults are fed up with SJW Hollywood writers and producers destroying their favorite movie franchises. The 2016 Ghostbusters movie bombed, losing $70 million, infected with woke. SJW has infected Star Wars and various superhero movies. Angry fans say, “Get woke, go broke!” Hollywood has declared that SJW, diversity and gender-swapping in movies is more important than entertaining stories.
Critics rave about movies that check all the right SJW boxes; praising homosexuality, feminism, and minorities while trashing straight white men. Meanwhile, fans avoid such movies in droves.

I don't see much in the way of data in this article; the author is mostly assuming that the decrease in audience is a result of SJW lunacy. And while that sure makes a lot of sense, and is certainly true for people around here, I am unsure that his conclusions are supportable...yet. The "young adults" I know consume vast quantities of mass-market entertainment, and I wonder whether they simply reject the low quality of the SJW-driven products rather than avoid them for philosophical reasons.

But I can't count the number of movies and shows I haven't watched because it was glaringly obvious that the purpose of their existence was not my entertainment but my indoctrination. But it is a very large number. That translates directly into money the studios and networks will never get, and that is as it should be!

But at least when they were new they were mostly entertaining with plenty of action and comedy. But when HW forgets to entertain at all and it is only about the social justice messaging? I'm reminded of all the awful antiwar films from the mid-oughts, screeching about how the eeeeeevil Dubya slaughtered millions of mohammedans to steal their oil, using low-IQ redneck barbarian US troops to do so. Virtually none of those films made money either, because they were SHITTY FILMS that beat you over the head with the lecture stick, and forgot to tell a compelling story.

On the other hand, antiwar films like All Quiet on the Western Front, Paths of Glory and Platoon were just as subversive and hostile to Western Civilization as any of the anti Iraq War films, but they told compelling stories FIRST, and as a result are still rightfully revered decades later. Unlike the anti Iraq War films, which were largely forgotten and irrelevant almost as soon as they hit the theaters.

First there is not much I am really interested in seeing and 2nd I hate movie theaters anymore. They suck. Most all of what I watch I get off of DVDs and Blue-ray. Went to the university football game last night (Mountain West conference). The cheerleaders were overweight. Obese even. They had on crop tops so their mid sections were exposed and all the fat. Fat rolls.

It was astonishing! Was this all they had to choose from at tryouts? Did everyone who signed up get chosen? Was this an 'inclusion group'? The six people in our group were all disgusted. Maybe if the uniform covered the stomach area it would have been a little better but not much.

The dance team, on the other hand, were all slim and trim and very good dancers and with their pompoms. Good crowd entertainers.

One other thing. Hollywood has an inferiority complex about the origins of acting and film. A lot of the SJW stuff comes from their discomfort with the fact that actors were historically thought of as equal to Turkish waterfront whores, and the first films were shown by toothless alcoholic carnies in sideshows. Hell, the first truly successful narrative film is a western about a train robbery.

No wonder that Scorsese and Coppola whine impotently about the Marvel films like a couple of junior high school girls. They know damned well that despite their artistic pretensions, they are all little more than sideshow carnies, but most of the Marvel films have embraced it, and given the audience what they wanted. Now it's all going to be CGI and that means video games and that means feh!

When that B-17 crashed at Bradley a few weeks ago they said there are now only eleven machines (or some small number) still qualified to fly. We had a weekly TV series, 12 O'Clock High, that flew dozens of B-17s every week.

I have audio of old games from the 30s, mostly. They're not quite what I grew up with. First, there's almost no "sounds of the game" to be heard, so all you really hear is the announcer describing what is happening. And second, their descriptions aren't quite clear enough to get a sense of what is happening.

They'll say "there's a fly to center, Butts retrieves the ball, tosses to Loogie, and Fuggley is standing on second with a double."

Huh?

It's all very results oriented. Probably left over from the days when announcers weren't actually at the game and were getting ticker tape data coming from the stadium to the station where they had to more or less make it up as they went.

272 Our tv got fried in a near lightning strike in july and remains unreplaced. Before that it acted as a radio as we listened to music choice oldies. I watch fox and friends as entertainment, wife watches NASCAR. Everything else is crap!
