She's not a Seattle counci lmember, she's a King County council member. Very different.
She is trying to solve a real problem - two-thirds of King County resides outside of Seattle, and Seattle city government has allowed downtown Seattle to turn into a cesspool, where the county offices are located.
King County can't force Seattle city government to clean up downtown, so the correct alternative is to move King County government outside of Seattle, so the two-thirds of King County residents who don't live in Seattle don't have to set foot in Seattle when doing county business.

Actually, she's a Republican, representing the most rural part of King County (King County is about twice the size of Rhode Island). She does not like Seattle politicians.
The other reason to move the county offices east is a more easterly location would be considerably easier to get to than downtown Seattle for most county residents. And, if King County is like Portland's county, the old county buildings are facing huge bills for seismic upgrades, so replacing them with modern buildings in a suburb would be cost-effective.

Located in scenic Ingham County Michigan, county seat: Mason MI. Mason is the county seat because Lansing is so far north it's almost in Clinton County, so they picked Mason, which is closer to the center. Just like the state capital was moved from Detroit because Lansing is more geographically central.

It's popped up quite a bit in the last couple years, especially on (surprise!) social media. I think Oprah and Deepak Chopra had a lot to do with popularizing it. It's just one of those things that's kind of out there, unfortunately.

Superglue alone isn't going to work!
When Teh Spawn were young, I'd frequently repair their broken plastic toys with pins made from sections of paper clips: Heat the pins in a flame, sink them in opposite sides of the break, pull the pieces apart again, put superglue on the pins and set them back in place. It usually held, at least for a time, and could be done over again if necessary...

Thanks. The rural parts of King County are red, like rural America most everywhere, but of course they get overwhelmed by Seattle and suburbs (King County went 72-22 for Hillary). Probably most of the Republican voters in King County live in Lambert's district.

It rarely gets called because it rarely comes up, since most throws are coming from the left side of the infield, or maybe from the second baseman. It usually only comes up on a nubber fielded by the catcher.
There's a reason why they have the chalk lines on the field. They're not decorative. If a batter hits a ball that bounces up and hits him, and he's in the batter's box, it's a dead ball. If he's OUT of the batter's box, he's out. Same principle.

Judgment call. You have to step toward first on at least a 45 degree angle. LHPs - I was one - practice stepping at a 44 degree angle, and continuing to move after throwing, so the angle is just not that clear.
This is another story. If you run the last 45 feet to first in fair territory, you're at risk of an interference call.

I see Loctite makes something dubbed Loctite Plastic Bonding System that supposed to work with HDPE. It's a two-part thing. You apply the "activator", then the glue.
I have no experience with it, but that's what the Intertoobs turned up.

So the operative word is intentionally. Which I did not see, but apparently this ump did, somehow, with a ball thrown behind a runner.

Corn heads don't really cut off the stalks. The have feed rollers that grab the stalk and yank it down fast. The ears hit a stripper plate, which pops them off, and the ears are then fed into the combine for threshing.
Years ago, way before I was my born, my father actually tried to cut corn with a regular grain head. Needless to say, he bought a corn head. The combine couldn't handle all that material.
Now, they've made row-crop soybean headers that are similar to corn head, except they do cut the stalks off. They are much more expensive, but don't waste as much due to beans shattering out at the cutterbar.

OK, let's do this by the numbers.
A fielder cannot block access to a base if he doesn't have the ball. Waiting to catch the ball doesn't count, because he doesn't have it yet.
A runner cannot impede a fielder from making a play. For example, a runner cannot run into a fielder fielding a grounder or popup. If he does, he's out.
If a throw hits a runner, and the runner is not out of the baseline, the ball is live and in play.
This last is why batters sometimes run to first in fair territory: to impede a throw by a catcher or pitcher to the first baseman. This obvious possibility is why the last 45 feet to first base features another line, in foul territory. The runner is supposed to run between the foul line and that line against that possibility. Turner was clearly on the fair side of that line, and as the play was not made, he was correctly called out.

A well-equipped body & fender shop will have "heat welder" for plastic. Basically a very narrow beam of very hot air, aimed the plastic.
The operator feeds it plastic "welding rod", with nearly the same technique as gas-welding metals.
Shops that do motorcycle repairs work with this stuff all the time, to mend broken fairings and seat pedestals.
Try that route before you give up on it.
Plan "C"? Find it's equivalent in a junkyard or e-Bay. If it's the wrong color, again, a body shop can spray it with Urethane paint that'll match, and will stick, too.

However, I heard trolls say that the Senate cannot interfere by subpoenaing the House's witnesses themselves. That would be exactly the opposite of the opinion. The Senate has not lost their power of oversight just because the House says Impeachment is in process.
Also, the House can rule whatever it wants, but if the policy of the DOJ is to only respect those subpoenas issued from the Judiciary committee, then that also does not affect the House's ability to call their processes what they will.
The DOJ is also not required to comply with whatever the House decides.
Seems to me, that if your arguing that the House can determine what independent parties must do, you're infringing on the independence of Houses or separation of powers.

"Stripper" headers for wheat are somewhat similar in that they leave the stalk (straw in the case of wheat) and pull the heads. Around here "Shelbourne" is a header brand/style that's becoming more common.

Catchers and middle infielders used traditionally to get freight-trained from time to time. The rule was changed - quite rightly, IMO - to eliminate that. The rule now is that the catcher HAS to provide the runner with a place to slide or avoid the tag, and that the middle infielder has to actually touch 2B (no more "in the vicinity" shit), but the runner has to slide directly into the base.
I think both rule changes are definitely in the right direction.

The back panel of your car seat is unlikely to be HDPE. More like styrene, or ABS, possibly "sheet-molded compound". If you remove the part, there should be a recycle symbol, and a logo to indicate exactly what plastic it is. I think that has been Federal law for some time. In any case, there are some adhesives sold for that sort of use that can be found at auto supply stores, likely under ten bucks.
Or, if the car is old enough, get a used part at a Pick and Pull wrecking yard. And you can buy spray paint to match interior colors, too. This is easy stuff to do.

As a former pitcher, I cannot fully extend my throwing arm. Nurses attempting to draw blood don't get it: that's as far as I can extend my arm. That's it. It's very common - essentially ubiquitous - among former pitchers. Can you touch your shoulder with your hand on the same side? I can. On one side. Not on the other.
But I wouldn't trade playing for ... well, anything.

I was just watching some videos of the stripper headers in action. I was amazed at how fast they could go. They're not running all that straw through the combine, so they can really fly.
I was also reading how much better it is for the soil, especially in certain climates to leave the stalks standing and not chop and/or spread it.

You know what I love about it? It selects for normal-sized guys. Yeah, there are behemoths, but then there are midgets. In what other major sport do you find stars who are less than six feet tall?
If a basketball or football team walks through a hotel lobby, people gawk. If a baseball team walks through, no one bats an eyelash.
The average MLB player is something like 6'1", 205 lbs. Not a wimp, but not jaw-droppingly huge, either. Just a typical guy, a bit larger than most. That's it.

I used to work for a cell phone company. When Katrina hit NO, the landline network failed immediately, but our network worked for about three days. Every cell had a diesel generator, but one by one they went offline because we couldn't get fuel to them.

I think this is just the full flowering of the way the Rockefeller Republicans have evolved and reacted to Trump/Populism.
The odd thing about it was they had a choice when the populist movement (or rather Trump) started up, they chose complete denial and so embraced the liberal parts of their version of conservatism while at the same time loudly proclaiming that they are the only true conservatives.
The sad part is, if they had just done what the fuck they said they were going to do, they would still be looked on with a certain amount of favor and also, Trump would never have arisen. The reaction to the movement is kind of indicative of why the movement began in the first place.

Two weeks! We had a hell of a time getting permits for a couple days worth. EPA, fire marshal, OSHA... you name it. All that red tape is why siting a cell is so expensive.

You're welcome. Year and make of car? Knowing that could shed light on which auto wreckers are most likely to have a used seat. Late-model wreckers are reluctant to sell seat except as a complete unit, but the U-do-it places will sell off little pieces, because you take them off.
I got two almost-perfect doors, in the correct color, for the left side of my '02 F 150 from a self-serve yard in Phoenix last January, under two hundred bucks. Not having to paint is a huge time and money saver.

I was just looking. A typical cell tower has a power requirement of 1 - 8 kW depending. Many of them do have generator backup. It's usually a UPS thing. Batteries keep it going and uninterrupted long enough for the generator to crank up and come online.
There's one about 2 miles from the house here, and it has a generator.

For many of us, it's now our only phone. Like me. And how do you call 911 to report your neighbor's house on fire if the cell network is down? There has to be at least a skeleton network of towers kept running, at all costs.
I don't know the power consumption of a single cell tower, but I doubt it's very much. Maybe they could have employees each "adopt" a tower, and be assigned to go there with a vehicle, and plug in an inverter, and run the tower off their vehicle's alternator for a shift.

You need the whole network, especially during an emergency. Otherwise the working cells will be overloaded. In NO the last few cells, which normally would serve (at that time) a hundred calls or so, had thousands of ongoing connection attempts. Most of the connections failed, and roaming was impossible.

Both of those fall into the 10+ years age range that the self-serve wreckers cater to. Pick and Pull, Pick a Part, You Pull It, those guys. Plastic interior trim? Probably under thirty bucks. In and out of the yard in ten minutes. And many of them are on-line now, and can tell you if they have a "donor" car of your type in the yard. But probably cannot tell you if the part is already sold off it, as in my experience, they do not keep a record of which parts sold off which wreck.
Autobody supply stores will have premixed spray paint in all the popular interior colors, less than $20 a can.

Got 8 offers and sold it for $900 2 hours after I posted it - to a mechanic looking for a car for his teenaged daughter. He said he could take care of all the little things himself.

His 17 year old daughter is driving a 29 year old car, and it is in decent shape, other than the paint falling off it. When I was 17, I drove a 16 year old Studebaker Champion that I bought for $25.

Propane, because it is stable in storage for decades, and needs no fuel pump for vapor draw-off. Diesel would be acceptable, but that would require rotating the fuel stock, plus the gensets themselves would be more expensive.

In any event, the Drudge Report is fabulously valuable. But, the man Matt Drudge is getting older, and perhaps tired, of doing his schtick. He's a private enterprise and could privately, say, sell his ownership interests in whatever it is he owns, and/or take in new cash-out partners/investors. We'd only know about it if someone talked about it.
But it's really quite strange how much the Drudge Report has quickly changed, in tone, emphasis and link choices. Really noticed it in last few days with an abnormally large amount of links to articles on MSN.com. THAT made me start wondering about above....

We called them vent windows. I didn't miss them too much until I got another old muscle car. Now I hate that the new car don't have them. The old cars had great vent systems in general. Open the vents on that sucker and you get hurricane winds inside. The new car has squat for vents.

Yeah, in general it seems like air flow is not as good or controllable on new cars. The climate control on the new car always wants to just use a gentle fan setting aimed at my feet for heat and 1 MPH breeze towards my face for AC. You can still change it, but you have to go manual.
Dammit, when I am cold or hot, I want gale force directed at me.

Sort of obliges you to have air conditioning. And the wingless side windows often create a nasty buffeting effect when partly rolled down at highway speeds. You get pressure pulsations at a few Hz that are very tiring. There's this thing in physics, called a Helmholtz resonator, and the practical example is like blowing across the top of a jug, to get low musical note. A car, with the side window rolled partly down, is such a jug, and you are in it.

Don't know. Just asking out loud. In a former life, I was an M&A attorney and there quite a few deals related to valuable trademarks (like the "Drudge Report), and a part of the deal was obligation to keep silent to and to maintain appearances of normalcy for purposes of preserving the value of the brand.
I think the Drudge Report falls squarely in that box. IF you were going to buy control of the Drudge Report, you'd pay hundreds of millions of dollars for the rights. If you paid that, you'd would lock Matt Drudge into a management role for the next 2-5 years, under an NDA, and would obligate everyone involved to keep it all confidential.
So, it makes me wonder. There's definitely been changes at Drudge Report in last 6 months. Not with how it looks, not even that it's been clearly anti-Trump for some time now. It's how fast it changed from one direction to another, almost like someone else took over the editorial role.

The "quarter glass" vents stayed on trucks for a while. My '92 F-150 has em.
Believe it or not, EPA/fuel economy was the main excuse for getting rid of them. Believe it or not, it's more efficient to run the A/C that run with the windows open, and the side vents alone were worse than a regular window down.
Of course, fuck that. If I want to run with a breeze, then I want to do it, and there was nothing like the side vents to get a breeze blowing on you.

If running A/C costs a little mileage, as it assuredly does, so does driving with the side windows open, and enduring the buffeting. My habit is: warm weather, windows all the way down at traffic speeds, or for a short blast on the freeway. Long road trip, windows up, but fan turned on to circulate fresh outside air in. Very hot weather, A/C on, if I have it. Cool or cold weather, windows up, heater on, maybe roll a window down for a minute or so if it gets stuffy inside.

He's one guy, who is basically like the head editor at a major old-school newspaper. He reads all of the news stories of the day, organizes the good ones roughly 70/30, for real news stories and interesting headlines, respectively, and always has a headline. Keeps the same format since the beginning (thank GOD).
And the rest is history. One guy owns one of the biggest trafficked website on the web, has minimal ad space available, and no doubt charges a good wage for advertisements. But he's been living on income since the beginning, and I'm sure he's plenty wealthy on that. But the REAL value of the Drudge Report is the asset itself. A big liquidation event is mighty attractive, especially if you're getting tired of the grind.
(Of course, I don't know much about how Drudge operates these days. I'd be surprised if he doesn't have 50-100 (more?) employees. These same changes could alternatively be explained by Matt Drudge taking a less active role, and the in-charge editor has had more control of late. But, then again,I would think Matt would stop that if he didn't agree with the direction.

I was just looking this windows down vs A/C on. It's controversial.
It varies greatly with the aerodynamic shape of the vehicle. There is a break even speed, below which windows-down is better and above which A/C is better. That speed can vary greatly, and for big boxy designs, it can be 75MPH or greater.
For very aerodynamic shapes it can be as low as 45 MPH.
So, a rule is windows down for town, A/C on the highway for cars, and windows down for trucks.

Flynn already pleaded guilty. I'm not sure what Powell's strategy is but I wouldn't be surprised that the Judge is losing his patience and that might ultimately harm Flynn. Remember, the prosecution recommended Flynn get zero days in prison as a sentence but the Judge was determined to give him time. It was at that point that Flynn choose to delay sentencing and ended up with his new lawyer. (People say even a few days in prison will wreck his ability to get consulting work as an ex-con).

Thanks to Ben Had, Tami, Wyatt Earp, and any others I've left out. I looked at some of the threads and the earliest expression of concern I found was from Oct. 25. My internet searching abilities are poor, so I may have missed something from earlier. But I had already been discharged from the hospital and admitted to the rehab/nursing home on Oct. 19, so I don't know how I would have been found if people didn't know which hospital I had been in.

Texas tried the chassis dyno run the car up to 50 type thing. It was a second inspection required in the 5 biggest counties. NO ONE WENT! On the required day the beautiful new centers opened and no one drove in. ha!

I don't remember the dyno thing, just that those inspection stations were performing emission testing.
Rather than replacing license plates each year, the state provided annual registration stickers that were placed on the corner of the plate. if your sticker had a line underneath the year, then you were condemned to have the new emission test.
Up until then, those who were living in those five designated counties just went to the nearest county and had their inspections performed there.
For those too lazy to do that, there were plenty of inspection centers, particularly in the Latino communities that would "pass" your inspection even if you had to push your car into the engine bay while the engine is on fire.
