What? Judge Overrules (?) Jury, Grants Father of James Younger Joint Custodianship Over Child, Giving Him Some Degree of Say (Maybe?) In Boy's Medical Mutilation?
I don't know what kind of input or voice he'll have, but this is better -- or is it? -- than it was yesterday.
But the judge is simultaneously slapping a gag order on the father, forbidding him from speaking publicly about the case. That means that she might have granted the father "equal" voice in whether or not the boy is castrated and further encouraged to "socially transition" into aComments

The question here is how things will work out.
On the plus side, I'm seeing a lot of push back on the "therapy" (read: butchery) and how it violates just about every rule of medicine.

Under TX laws, I would suppose that the minor's name and pictures might not be permitted to be posted but that varies by state to state. The Supreme Court generally considers newsworthiness as a factor as to whether a court may suppress public records. In this case, the countervailing interest would be privacy of the child. I've advised people that they have to be very, very careful in asking for a Guardian Ad Litem - should only be used if both parents are dangerous (ie meth heads) and there's no other choice. A g.a.l. can go off in a direction and ask for things that *neither* parent wants to happen, including sending the kid to CPS.

Sure - these psychiatrists are driving this - they are trying to say its a medical condition but obviously they wouldn't medically alter people to look like tables or frogs if the patient professed to be one - especially a six year old who is role playing.

According to LifeSiteNews, although he's still joint conservator of both children, he's actually going to be getting less time to spend with them. On the other hand, the mother no longer has full control over their psychological care.
So far, no one has gone into detail about the other issues; whether Mr. Younger needs to "affirm" the trans persona or if he's allowed to have his children in contact with others who also do not "affirm" the persona - which bring up some serious first amendment issues, considering that he and the children are Orthodox Christians. (Mom was too, but apparently is no longer practicing.)
At the very least, though, this has apparently bought some time. I'm sure it's not the last battle here, and I think the gag order on the parents is mostly to keep him from making the next round public - and I'm sure there will be a next round. So... we're not out of the woods yet.

This is probably evil of me to suggest, because I know how important siblings are, but can they do a Parent Trap? Give each parent one child and let that parent dictate how that child is raised? Whichever one goes to the mom is a lost cause. But at least one child has a chance of growing up sane, instead of damaging both utterly as some sort of twisted psych experiment for the mom.

It's my belief that the human brain develops in phases and from most of what I've read parts of don't even fully develop until you are about 24-25 YO.
I personally think, unless you are seeing suicidal/homocidal attempts or obsession in that direction, that even psychotropic drugs or ADHD meds shouldn't be administered to developing brains, and though I have no studies to back me up, I suspect the administration of psychotropic drugs to children is responsible for the increasing number of suicides among our youth, either directly or from those that turn of age and stop taking them.
I consider it like putting your kid through knee surgery when they have pain during a growth spurt that would eventually sort itself out, it's an extreme permanent solution for a temporary problem that may likely have future repercussions.
I would have never let them put my daughter on that stuff. Never. And if they wanted to give her hormone blockers, it would be war, and I do mean war.

Gag orders are the most obnoxious rulings around. This is a hill to die on while trying to protect a child.
Giving more power to a judge is not the solution, and if the judge is impartial (i think not) then she will withhold the puberty blockers regardless of what the father says or does.

I honestly think that part of this poisoning of the family is from the idea of overpopulation by the elite so the destruction of the family, abortion up to birth, etc. is designed to pit women against men so that ordinaries do not reproduce. Importation of a servile caste will then take the place of the troublesome citizens.
The original Kingsmen which was surprisingly good had a take on that and I suspect that the guy who wrote the screenplay had got the idea for the villains from somewhere among the trendy elites in Horridwood Town.

A call by the dad's legal counsel in coordination with the Governor's Office and it's liaison to the Texas State Legislature Judicial Committee would solve the issue here without appeal, I would hope.
Unless the Judge gets her back up, then, yeah, an appeal would have to be made, but preventing him from raising public funds for an appeal for a gag order would be pretty hard for her to enforce given the level of attention this has gotten. Judgeship career over, I should think. And its been my experience is that judges really like to be judges - that's why they left private practice and ran for the title in an election in the first place.

All I can say is I was brought up here when N.J. was more rural, and I spent time outside fishing and catching frogs. I had good teachers who were kind to a lonely child, I learned how to love reading from a mother who lived here. I met my dear husband here and was married here. I was baptized here, I felt a calling to ministry and was ordained here, I've served in rural areas with beautiful scenery. I've served fine people who love Christ and each other. So I will always be grateful for things that touched my life while here and I hope other people can say the same about the state the live in.
Will I always live here. Probably not, but the "I hate _______ for all states in just a bore.

I personally don't care that he lied to his wife about having military experience, etc. That was a civil matter during their divorce and has no bearing on this. He is still the sane parent in this scenario. NOT mentioned in her lawyer's statement on what the jury considered were the false domestic violence charges the mother lodged against the father and which he was acquitted of.

Anon... that article gets many facts of the case wrong. For instance, the article says that the judge's order continues joint custody. That is untrue since an earlier order had transferred sole decision power on medical issues to the mother and specifically denied father the right to take the child to a different psychologist for a second opinion. This decision will actually return true joint custody to the father.
And if the judge said the mother had asked that father retain joint decision making power RE the little boy's transition, she lied. The mother has repeatedly tried to remove not only decision making power but also visitation from the father in court filings that are available online.
