Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Page Six: Matt Lauer Used His Position To Pressure a "Well-Respected" News "Star" Into An "Affair"Paragons, gate-keepers, and moral arbiters. Disgraced "Today" anchor Matt Lauer allegedly had an affair with a famed and well-respected broadcaster, Page Six is exclusively told, representing a "clear imbalance of power." The woman signed a nondisclosure agreement when she left NBC. We have agreed not to name the broadcaster at her request, but a TV source said: "Matt had influence over everyone’s career -- one word and your career would be sunk. I know there was a clear imbalance of power in this woman's relationship with Matt." In his new book, "Catch and Kill," Ronan Farrow also claims Lauer repeatedly harassed a fellow on-air NBC personality, who was allegedly forced to sign a strict NDA when she left the network in 2012. It's not clear if it's the same woman we've learned about.Beckett Adams writes that NBC's petri dish for rape culture may be worse than we ever suspected. Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)1

I think these days there is literally NO ONE who cannot easily be replaced in entertainment. I can't think of a single actor today who makes me want to see anything he's in (or actress, that she's in). There's no pundit, no talking head, no reporter who couldn't just be swapped out for someone else. And there hasn't been for decades. Who was the last must-see actor, Harrison Ford? And that was because of his roles, not him. Put him in some dumb romantic comedy and he was forgettable.

Sure, I have a price for silence. Its more than anyone would be willing to pay, but its a price. For example I could be paid off to be silent about the corruption in the DNC if I had all the info, but it would involve a host of people signing their confessions and/or committing suicide, plus a few billion of non-taxable dollars. I think Ann Curry was a morning news reader and trying to move up to the anchor position or whatever they call the idiots who sit on the couch.
My guess - pure speculation, but so what! - is that Lauer pulled the strings to get her promoted after she gave in and started having an affair and when she broke it off he got her fired. NBC probably had Curry scared about some breach of contract violation and offered to pay her $$ and not sue over the BoK if she signed the NDA, which probably says she that if she breaches, has to pay back the money with interest and that she would be liable for NBC's attorney's fees. Turkey in an uproar, and part of it is that they can't figure out what the f**k Trump thinks about certain things, due to the confusing signals. Not a deliberate unbalancing campaign, just a result of Trump's style, which can be "spontaneous" and involve loose wording [where wording is the focus]. But hilarious. Would love to know if Pompeo or O'Brien are enjoying it, find it useful in their parlaying with the sultan's regime, or something else. Posted by: rhomboid at October 16, 2019 05:57 PM (QDnY+) 154

So speculation is Ann Curry? Okay...
Googling "Ann Curry" and the first headlines are: US Weekly: "Exclusive Ann Curry 'Will Destroy' Matt Lauer if She Speaks Out" The Inquisitr: "Ann Curry Could 'Destroy' Matt Lauer With Bombshell Insider Information, Report Claims" Checking Ann Curry's Wiki: "It was widely reported in June 2012 that Curry would be replaced as co-host of Today. Curry hired attorney Robert Barnett to represent her in her discussions with NBC. On June 28, 2012, Curry announced in an emotional broadcast on the show that she was leaving Today. She signed a new multi-year contract with the network as NBC News National and International Correspondent/Anchor and Today Anchor at Large." So she did not leave NBC in 2012. She left in 2015. So... likely not Ann Curry. Posted by: Clyde Shelton at October 16, 2019 05:58 PM (Do5/p) Posted by: dantesed at October 16, 2019 05:58 PM (88xKn) 162

Right? Seems like people such as Lauer, Weinstein are manipulative people who know how to both pressure women into having sex with them in order to keep their jobs/career *and* get the goods on the people who could possibly wreck their rack in order to maintain this power over the women they harass. We've seen that his boss Andrew Lack did the same thing (so, scumbag code: protect each other from lawsuits, losing job). As we saw with Weinstein, he had enough oppo research* on NBC (and how many other media execs?) AND his victims in order to prevent stories getting out, lawsuits, arrest. These are not normal people. *Recall Weinstein hired ex-Mossad people to collect intel on victims, people who might be a threat to his racket. The more we learn about Lauer and Weinstein, the more complicated it seems. Apparently Lauer knew he had the protection of his bosses, and had a reputation of getting women who did not give in fired/harmed their career after leaving. This is what Weinstein did, too. He destroyed the career of women who refused him. That is ugly. Yes, the women had the option of saying no and switching career. But that is also exactly the type of situation sexual harassment laws were written to prevent. No one should have to choose between sex with their boss or career (unless you're are porn star, etc.). That is ugly. Yes, the women had the option of saying no and switching
career. But that is also exactly the type of situation sexual harassment laws were written to prevent. No one should have to choose between sex with their boss or career (unless you're are porn star, etc.). Indeed. Or someone could take the novel step of going to the police and having him charged with forced sodomy while the evidence was still, um, fresh. I'd have to say that if I were butt raped, I'd either go to the hospital or kill him. Posted by: dagny at October 16, 2019 06:12 PM (nRWPy) 280

The Sotchi rape was messy, she was really drunk, went to his room, and oh yeah, they were in Russia. Maybe Now We Can Guess Why NBC Canceled The Popular "To Catch A Predator" Series
Posted by: Soothsayer Yup - like putting food in a cage outdoors and catching your neighbors instead of a raccoon - NBC could probably guess who might be next in the trap and didn't take the chance!. I don't know the particulars about NBC's agreements but my (specialized employment law type) attorney also said my NDA was unenforceable.
But, my NDA specified particular work related knowledge only. And yes, my payout was conditional upon signing it. Posted by: Tonypete at October 16, 2019 06:42 PM (Y4EXg) 436

Didn't Candy Crowley leave NBC in 2012 after she torpedoed Mitt's hopes and dreams?

My dear Moron friends,
I love youse all. I do not have a broken wrist, as, being an aging supermodel, I thought you would know that the real grinning person broke hers in Dancing with the stars. Conspiracy theory is she did it on purpose or some squatch to put her daughter in spotlight. I am very happy not to be her, as she seems to be a real pain in arse, grinning all the time and posing. If I were her daughter I'd be po'd.She probably flirts with their boyfriends. I am fine, other than scratched up from rosebushes as I deadheaded them. Life is good. I get distracted sometimes from reading crap about that Markle creature among other time-wasting things (when not gardening or babysitting grandson or whatever the heck I do as time slips away). Have been half-arse watching the Dims destroy each other on debate stage and enjoying President Trump tweet them into more insanity.I don't actually watch debates, just comments. Biden has entertained me the most with his eye bleed, stupid comments and the rusty razor dude, Corn Pop. Cracks me up. If I ever finish my stupid chores (I procrastinate) I will pop in more as y'all have always made me laugh, and Ace is one of a kind. xoxo Posted by: ChristyBlinky aka Corn Pop, Biden's imaginary thug at October 16, 2019 09:53 PM (SK2xO) Processing 0.04, elapsed 0.0521 seconds. |
