Surprise! The Whistleblower Sent His Complaint to Adam Schiff First, Who Then Gave Him "Advice"

A source tells me that this probably means the whistleblower is not a whistleblower, but just a leaker. To be a whistleblower, you have to go through prescribed steps.

Running to the hyperpartisan Adam Schiff to preview your info op isn't one of those steps.

The Democratic head of the House Intelligence Committee, Representative Adam B. Schiff of California, learned about the outlines of a C.I.A. officer's concerns that President Trump had abused his power days before the officer filed a whistle-blower complaint, according to a spokesman and current and former American officials.

The early account by the future whistle-blower shows how determined he was to make known his allegations that Mr. Trump asked Ukraine's government to interfere on his behalf in the 2020 election. It also explains how Mr. Schiff knew to press for the complaint when the Trump administration initially blocked lawmakers from seeing it.

Before going to Congress, the C.I.A. officer had a colleague convey his accusations to the agency's top lawyer. Concerned about how that avenue for airing his allegations was unfolding, the officer then approached a House Intelligence Committee aide, alerting him to the accusation against Mr. Trump. In both cases, the original accusation was vague.

The House staff member, following the committee's procedures, suggested the officer find a lawyer to advise him and file a whistle-blower complaint.
The aide shared some of what the officer conveyed to Mr. Schiff.

Remember when Fred Fleitz and others reported that, based on their long experienc in national security and with whistleblowers, the "whistleblower" complaint did not read like any real whistleblower's complaint, but like something written by a Democrat lawyer for political impact?

Well, there you go. It reads like it was written by a partisan Democrat legislative aide because it was written by a partisan Democrat legislative aide.

A spokesman for Schiff says that it's a "common occurrence" for "whistleblowers" to contact his committee.

Well I have no doubt that it's quite a common occurrence for deep state operatives to coordinate with Adam Schiff. That doesn't make it legal, and, per my source, it strips away the whistleblower protections this mere leaker and #Resistance operator would have under the whistleblower statute.

Speaking of illegal leaks, this one (which the whistleblower presumably
signed under penalty of perjury) might be a fine speculation for some
enterprising reporter to follow up upon (via Sean Davis):

There was no "whistleblower". Schiff's people slapped this together and put it on the form as if there were, then figured out the huge hole in the plan, panicked, and got the rules changed to cover them.

91 I'm still trying to sort through the "changed form" situation. The form was changed, but the law was always the same, and so the form change is not a conspiracy they say.

Okay - fine... there was specific information in the original form that said it must be first hand knowledge... although the law doesn't specify that.

That said - they still changed the form for just this occasion. How many other whistleblowers stopped at the form because of the form contents and what it demanded?

How many Obama era whisteblowers stopped because they were advised by the form that specified first hand info only?

It's a bit more than "It could be confusing to the press".. it was a mistake that was only noticed now... and probably by someone's lawyer.

That's what I get out of it anyway.

Its a felony to make materially false statements to ANY Federal Agent (not just the FBI, although that is the law they use).

Thus, making a statement WITHOUT first hand knowledge of the facts, means you cannot know if the allegation is true or not.

Thus you set yourself up for making a false statement, which in this case, happened.

Guy should be prosecuted for both Security violations (giving classified material to those not in the custody chain) AND for making a false statement.

Whistleblower statute does NOT protect you from prosecution, only from administrative retribution (firing).

==========

I liked parts of The Boys, but the story was told completely out of order on accident. It was weird.

There's no introduction to super heroes as great exemplars of good in this universe. Our first close up interaction with any of them is A-Train exploding a girl on accident by running through her. And, we find out that Hughie is a big superhero fan in episode 3 AFTER he's turned against them and killed one of the 7.

There's no sense of actual storytelling to the entire thing. It's so weirdly and poorly assembled. I'm all for letting creators just create, but wouldn't it be nice if the creators understood how to build a story before they set out on an 8 episode arc?

251 There is a reason it is called due process. Process matters. People tend to want to dismiss process and get to substance. But the former leads to the truth of the latter. We have really got this all wrong and backwards in this country. Process rally matters to protect the rights of the accused. But process matters for Constitutional norms as well. Its an amazing thing how many in this country just want to abandon process.

Totally unsurprising if you understood that Obama HATED western civilization and blamed it for exploiting the third world in 16-19 and some of the 20th centuries. When I read this farce of a complaint from this "Whistle Blower" it was all I could do to stop laughing.

Clearly coached, contrived, composed, concocted by a partisan legal hack, perhaps with a bit of 'media influence'; ripe with legalese and footnotes to boot to drive the point home about how 'serious' this is.

Any sane judge would toss this complaint out with the trash. Either that, or whipe his arse with it for the shitpaper that it is.
