Democrats and others in this new aristocracy had grown very used to having a GOP whose members played the game like gentlemen (and that includes the Republican women). Every now and then there had been an eruption from the more combative right such as Bill Clinton’s impeachment or Gingrich’s short-lived Contract With America. But for the most part the left and the Democrats had to deal with people who were only tepidly on the right and often more than willing to play ball with the left, people such as McCain (the candidate in 200and Romney (2012). Even George W. Bush was no street fighter and no conservative, although they hated him for other reasons. The left grew used to having opponents of a certain type, and Trump most definitely is not of that type. That’s why the NeverTrumpers hate him, too, perhaps even more than the left does, because the NeverTrumpers were (and are) of that type as well. They all feel deeply betrayed, not so much by Trump as by the American people who chose him and repudiated them. And the people must not be allowed to get away with it.

You see Kurt, the popular votes of the INDIVIDUAL STATES do mean something. The winning candidate of each state gets that state's ELECTORAL VOTES. It's simple Kurt; win the state vote, get the state's electoral votes. DO this enough times to get a MAJORITY OF ELECTORAL VOTES and the candidate wins. What does this mean, Kurt? The candidate should try to win EVERY STATE POSSIBLE, not just the "non-deplorable" ones. If the candidate's platform does not play in enough states to get more than half the electoral votes, it's a bad platform, Kurt. Play divisive politics instead of unifying politics, lose state votes, and probably lose the election.

An anecdote today gave me hope. My middle daughter was at the gym with her 26 month old daughter who is getting potty trained.my daughter put her on the toilet and was standing there waiting. When she turned around there was a young ( about 10) boy standing and staring. My daughter asked him 3 times to not stand there staring, and eventually a worker at the gym told my daughter not to use labels. By this time my daughter had said would the mother of this Arab boy please come and get him.. my daughter was furious and told the gym her daughter and her had as many rights as anybody else and nobody was going to say her daughter should allow herself to be stared at. So I think people are starting to realize that unless they (we) start defending our selves and our rights nobody else will.

Polling does not support Kurt. Nor the thought that TX is going blue in 2020. The Dems have been yammering about impeachment since 2018 and guess what, the Republicans have solidified against it and so have the independents. Even among Dems, it gets a one percent positive versus negative.
What this is an attempt to change the losing hand the Dems have with their current candidates and the strong economy. The Dems want that Grand Jury testimony to throw around and have to have the pretext of this to supply enough cover to get it by formally voting for impeachment.
If the Dems are stupid enough to do this thing, they will probably lose the House Senate and the Presidency, along with the Supreme Court for about 4-6 years.

I've found that even good old Hoppes No. 9, if you leave it in there for 20 minutes, will clean out pennies worth of copper. Plenty of copper in the old milsurps I collect.
For corrosion resistance, I use Hornady's One Shot, because I saw an experiment where a guy tested 40 different cleaners on sheet steel with plain water and salt water, and One Shot was in the top three winners. Trouble is, to get it shipped, there's a hazmat fee for some reason, so buy it locally.

What does need to happen is that the endless waves of immigration need to be ended as this is the raw material for what the Dems need. Cruz ran a rather crappy campaign, Beto had serious money, and 2018 was a first term correction wave that usually happens. Abbott won handily as did Duce in AZ and even Kemp in GA. Gubernatorial races and down ticket are generally better predictors.
Believe it or not, immigrants supported the GOP to the Great Depression despite or perhaps because of the GOP turning off the immigration spigots in the 1920's.
Low skilled immigrants and natives suffer the most from unrestricted immigration and benefit the most from a labor shortage economy. We do not have land to grant anymore so all an immigrant usually has is their labor to sell--waves of immigrants due to labor supply and demand drop the price of their labor. A tight job market also allows redemption of some non-violent offenders etc. to reenter the job market to earn a honest living.
There are such things as realignments in American political history and we are overdue for one. The Dem's overreach might just do that.

Even if not one more illegal came to TX starting today, it's probably too late. The majority of school age kids in TX are non-white today. They're all US citizens, or mostly citizens, who will be voting in 5-10 years. Plus a lot of legal immigrants in Houston and Dallas, H1B types, who vote bigly Democrat. It's a slow burn but TX going purple is happening sooner or later.

Finally, a little six-year-old girl is quoted, just for the cuteness factor, as saying, "Looked like a glowing snake!"
Writer turns in his manuscript. Lazy editor at local paper, trying to get some clicks, uses the little girl's quote in the headline, which he posts online: " 'Glowing snake' streaks across Montana sky."
Drudge will then spot the article, and link to it, under his own headline, which further embroiders the original (random, unimportant) little-girl quote:
"FLAMING SNAKES FALL FROM OUTER SPACE ONTO TERRIFIED MONTANA!"
He does this so often, it has become ludicrous, and frankly insulting.

when I was about 8 or 9, the big thing was to do exactly this. in addition to Vienna sausages, we did toast, too.
It had all the good stuff as components:
- dumping the remaining ground coffee into a bowl for the can.
- using a sharp can opener to create the smoke vents.
- playing with fire, unsupervised.
- HOT FOOD!

I tried on several occasions to shoot the moon with an M1917 and M2 ball. You have to lead it by 17 days. Last time, I went out after the 17 days, looked up, and it was a damned new moon, so I couldn't see the impacts!

The most encouraging thing I've seen so far is the military no longer can be staffed voluntarily. It's not noted a lot, obviously, but that's a cool fact. Things can worse for our overlords, but that's a great start.

This is assuming that just because the House votes to impeach (everybody knows they're all nuts except the Freedom Caucus) that anything will be done about it. Naw, the senate will not go with it...they know which side their bread is buttered on and need those deplorable votes to keep on unipartyin; so no matter what the House says, it'll be buried in history; they won't have any say-so in whether he runs or not.
And he will (run and win in a historic landslide.) Nance may THINK she has dictatorial powers, but she really doesn't.
