The doctrine of corporate infallibility is being challenged by the heretics and infidels; we need the zealous defenders of the faith to start paying us back for all those corporate junkets, corporate speaking gigs, and corporate "donations."Less than two months after the Justice Department initiated a wide-ranging antitrust review of big tech companies, 50 U.S. states and territories, led by Texas, Monday announced their own investigation into Google's "potential monopolistic behavior." ... A key issue in the states' probe is whether Google abuses its market dominance in online search, advertising, and mobile operating systems to unfairly gain leverage in other markets, stifling innovation and harming consumers. Although anti-conservative bias among Google's leadership has been documented and frequently draws the ire of top Republicans, the antitrust probes do not expressly relate to those concerns.Forbes discusses the parallel antitrust investigation into FaceBook, as well as other investigations into Apple and Amazon: While Facebook has been criticized for its handling of privacy, misinformation and hate speech, lawmakers are now questioning whether Facebook has any meaningful competition, especially for users who want to jump ship due to how much user data the company collects. Investigators may also be looking at Facebook's acquisitions of WhatsApp and Instagram.... Here are the investigations: Federal Trade Commission: The FTC has already investigated and fined Facebook for its privacy practices, but it also started its own antitrust investigation into the company in June. The FTC also has the authority to investigate Amazon for possible antitrust violations. Department of Justice: The DOJ is conducting a sweeping review of the power and dominance of Big Tech, which will likely include Google, Facebook, Apple and Amazon. The Wall Street Journal reported the DOJ might explore different tech practices or legal theories than the FTC in its probe of Amazon and Facebook. Congress: The House of Representatives is conducting an investigation into Google, Facebook, Amazon and Apple, and results of the investigation may inform changes in antitrust laws that would make it easier to break up these companies. I don't think anti-trust is the proper way to approach this, it basically puts government in charge of what happens. I think it should instead be approached with the media/non media thing that ace brought up last year: they are claiming exemptions that they cannot with the way they behave, they are trying to have it both ways. Attack that, and you damage their attempts to control information.

You have loved lots of girls in the sweet long ago. And each one has meant heaven to you. You have vowed your affection to each one in turn. And have sworn to them all you'd be true. You have kissed neath the moon while the world seemed in tune. Then you left her to hunt a new game. Has it ever occurred to you lately, my boy? That she's probably doing the same. Chorus I wonder who's kissing her now. Wonder who's teaching her how. Wonder who's looking into her eyes. Breathing sighs, telling lies. I wonder who's buying the wine. For lips that I used to call mine. Wonder if she ever tells him of me. I wonder who's kissing her now. If you want to feel wretched and lonesome and blue. Just imagine the girl you loved best. In the arms of some fellow who's stealing a kiss. From the lips that you once fondly pressed. But the world moves of pace and the loves of today. Flit away with a smile and a tear. So you never can tell who is kissing her now. Or just who she'll be kissing next year. Posted by: Hadrian the Seventh at September 10, 2019 06:25 PM (7rVsF) 144

Greetings:
I'm old enough to remember hearing about an infamous depression-era bank robber by the name of Willie Sutton. Supposedly an intrepid reporter of those days asked Wiilie why he robbed banks. Willie replied because that's where the money is. I think that today's AGs have a bit of Willie in them. When I see the size of some of these "settlements" that the government extracts from corporations, I'm not only disturbed by the millions, tens of millions, and even hundreds of millions involved but by the scant information about where the loot is likely to go. I seem to remember that back during thankfully former President Obama's administration of various agencies encouraging NGOs and such to sue the government so they could capitulate and deliver various-sized revenue windfalls. qdpsteve,
I have had a lot better luck with Ebay on deliveries rather than Amazon lately. Amazon has gotten sloppy with both delivery and the goods that they sell directly and their marketplace feature is for the birds compared with other sources. From all indications, they are a horror to work for in the warehouses and given the labor shortage/turnover, they are probably not getting motivated employees. Just in the last couple of weeks, I got a product that was opened and probably returned missing some critical parts. Ordered directly from a specialized retail company build.com and got it faster in great shape with all of the parts. For most of my online specialty purchases, I increasingly use specialty websites rather than Amazon now and in many cases their prices and shipping is better to even with s/h and sales tax. It's scary how bad IG has gotten, and how it seems google/amazon et al are in on the action as they constantly cross-reference each other to "serve" me ads.
A week ago I was in LV, at a group event. I bought a friend a beer, a brand I hadn't seen/had in ages. Conversation turned to the beer (and the place it's named after) for not even a minute. The next day, my IG feed had ads from that very brand. No coincidence, this is becoming common. I realized I had used google mapping earlier in the day, and might not have turned it off (I use an iphone, not android), but still. I paid cash for the transaction - so it certainly wasn't my CC that did it. This is like right out of the movie Consipracy Theory. And I bought Catcher In The Rye. Creepy AF. I'm getting so I just want to shut my phone off if I'm not using it. But is it really even off? Posted by: clutch cargo at September 10, 2019 06:44 PM (Z1ykJ) 236

I agree. I think playing a righty strung guitar lefty made his phrasing different than what everyone was playing too.
Posted by: dartist at September 10, 2019 06:52 PM (K22Va) I've read alot about him. He was no Johnny Come Lately. He'd toured and played a ton of friggin' gigs in a ton of places. He was confident up on that stage. Which counts for a lot. And that kinda' thing lends itself to writing songs about interesting stuff. He was an innovator in equipment and presenting a sound. I also think - in an odd way - that his constant use of basic open chords hooked audiences in. We respond to those chords. There's a reason that guitar is made and tuned that way. not sure how to break up Google's use of algorithms programmed to promote the commie and bury the patriot candidate ... they may have to be punished and/or shut down, because they are 90% of the market and are proven manipulators of what is perceived (by the consumer) as a fair system.
maybe a warning label on every search like for cigarettes ... "This search will put Dem candidate propaganda first on the list, knowing consumers of our product will think those are most popular or relevant, when they are likely neither." I have decided that the whole conversation about Trump being difficult to work with has to be restated. rather than letting the talking heads ( including Brett Bauer on Fox) go on about the high turnover , and psople should be told that Obama left such a mess for th next administration that it's a testament to Trump that it has gone as smoothly as it has. I had to listen to 8 years of Obama blaming Bush for everything from the economy to Iraq, and I refuse to keep hearing Trump be blamed for the disarray Obama left.

Amazon or WalMart for this rural limited access/choice Moron? I buy a shit-ton of pew-pew stuff off Amazon. They are usually just a bit over Optic Planet's sale prices, I get it in 2 days, and I don't have to deal with OP's APPALLING customer service bullshit... Democrat states are looking at revenues from big fines. And as long as their political bias is untouched, they're fine with it.
