The Morning Rant

talking ape.jpg

"So there's this African American blues musician named Daryl Davis who you have to admire. He seeks out white supremacists to talk to, and by white supremacists, I mean actual white supremacists, not the fake news white supremacists, which are basically everybody who doesn't toe the latest 'woke' party line. No, Davis will talk to KKK guys, and he's even convinced some of them to hang up their hoods and quit the Klan. Davis also speaks to other extremist groups because he wants, as he says, quote to bring some reconciliation amongst different ideological groups to reduce violence and racism and bring about a sense of normalcy and civility among my fellow Americans, unquote.

"So I think he's a good man doing good work. But recently he was invited to speak at a conference in Philadelphia which purpose it was to reduce racism antisemitism and violence. And guess who lined up outside to protest?

"It was, get this, Antifa. Yes, I know you're all wearing your shocked faces right now, but they got all mad, screamed at Davis and everything, and even called him a white supremacist. Which, according to his description of the incident he posted on Instagram, he thought was pretty funny. The conference organizers invited Antifa to come inside and take part in the conversation, but they refused.

Isn't that a hoot? The KKK guys and the white nationalist/separatists/supremacists, whom we are told are the Absolute Worst People Who Have Ever Existed In The History of the Entire Universe, are nonetheless willing to talk to a black guy, and the dialog got to the point where some of them actually changed their minds. But not the lily white soy boys of Antifa. Oh no, they've constructed a bubble that is pretty much impermeable. They don't want anything to do with actually talking to anyone else, all they want to do is yell, break things, and throw stuff at people. So remember this the next time that simpering fredo Chris Cuomo or any of the other imbecilic talking heads on CNN or MSNBC defends them. Because they can't get it through their tiny little pea brains that just because they say they're anti-fascist, it doesn't mean they're anti-fascist."

I'm kinda amazed at how often these candidates are saying things that are so obviously unconstitutional. For example, Kamala pledging that she'd demand Congress ban guns in X days or she'd go around them with an EO.

Do they have not conception of how tyrannical that would be?

99 Herbert Hardesty played sax and drove the tour bus for Fats Domino. One night, he had the band and Fats had gone on ahead in the limo, and he got off the main road and was lost.

He came over a rise and saw firelight. It was a Klan rally. Hooded klansmen came up to the bus and asked, what you boys doin' out here, and he told them about needing directions. "Where's Fats Domino?" they asked. "He's gone up ahead." So they sent a couple of klansmen, in uniform, to guide them up to the road, and told him "When you see the fat man, give him our best."

The "march" consisted of perhaps 30 people who were outnumbered by protesters by about 30 to 1. It was a hoot and, if memory serves, the cameramen tried their best to keep from showing actual numbers but, it just wasn't possible.

This is where we, as a nation, went wrong.

It used to be the legislature would do their job and make sure what they were doing was actually constitutional. But, then the supreme arbiters of all that is constitutional was somehow given the power to make that decisions, thereby neutering congress and allowing all manner of mischief to become law.

On top of that, courts have decided it is within their purview to decide one way or another on a law, rather than simply telling Congress the law is so poorly written, they cannot adjudicate it, thereby kicking the law back to Congress for another try.

181 I think this article by CNN today might be something. They are reporting that the CIA snuck a high level Russia spy with access to Putin out of Russia in 2017.

If you go back to the early reporting from NYT, WaPo and other leftwing organizations in early 2017 they were claiming that Brennan had been using a high level Russia source with access to Putin to brief Obama and come up with their claim that Russia and Putin in particular had interfered in the 2016 election.

If the CIA has actually had this guy since 2017 then they know what really happened with Russia and have for over 2 years now.

Ignore the CNN spin.

You can find all about it on the Internet.

To call them fascists themselves is a mistake. Fascism actually implies some level of organization. They're violent anarchists, shock troops for a violent collectivist takeover. If there actually was a complete collectivist takeover, they would probably get the treatment that the old Bolsheviks got from Lenin and Stalin....a bullet to the brain in the basement of the Lubyanka, because they would now be disposable and a threat to the New Order.

In my humble opinion, they should be shot. Shoot enough of them, and they rest will run away and hide. And then there is their more militant and armed wing, the John Brown Society. They should be shot too.

==========

There's definitely a lightning in a bottle quality to it. Script, cast, humor all combine together really well in sometimes unexpected ways (Tim Allen? seriously?)

However, I just have to maintain that the fact that characters have arcs, there's a clear plot, and the fact that the character's arcs interact really well with the plot to highlight thematic ideas is what really makes the movie work. It's dramatically very sound.

Just the funnies is enough to get you through a screening. The fact that these are likable characters who overcome well defined challenges is what really drives replay value.

243 I'm pretty sure that Antifa doesn't stand for antiFacists. They made that up after folks started asking and they had to come up with something better than the truth.

They are anti-First Amendment. Because the thinking (?) with the left these days is that the First Amendment is old fashioned and shouldn't be applied to people you don't want to hear anything from so you claim they're full of hate and don't deserve to be heard.

But to do that you've got to also not allow them their First Amendment rights.

And that's where they come in. they're anti First Amendment for haters. (they get to define hate)

The movie shows the French Quarter I knew 10-15 years later as a kid (hint: It was not a tourist trap or theme park then, but a rather run-down, inexpensive neighborhood). Part of the fun was looking for the locations, many of which have disappeared.

Saw the trailers for both The King's Man and 1917 back-to-back in the theater a couple of weeks ago. The silly spy movie got the whole "ocean of mud" right, while the big budget historical movie had the British troops charging across a grassy meadow. It was obvious who was paying attention to what Passchendaele actually looked like and it wasn't the folks making the historical movie.

The juxtaposition completely killed my interest in seeing 1917.

311 >>The peace talks with the Koreas alone, and the photo ops of their leaders crossing the border and shaking hands, would get any other world leader fellated and slobbered over by the media. Can you imagine if Obama had arranged them? But it's Trump, so orange man bad.

Also supporting Saudi Arabia new prince, who is quite the reformer (relatively speaking). Can you imagine how Obama - or any DC swamp creature POTUS - would have reacted when the prince through a bunch of the biggest DC wheeler-dealer Saudi royals in jail, particular these slimy Alwaleed bin Talal?! Everyone in DC abandoned them and inexplicably decided to back Qatar and Iran, while Trump has stuck with Saudi Arabia. Still not entirely trustworthy, but working to get better, such as human rights advances for women and working with Israel. Wild times

312 Insom, take heart. You are not alone. Neighbor's son bought a brand new Ford diesel pickup last week. $70k. Two days after he got it he strafed another vehicle with it. Removed a nice streak of paint.

Then he headed across country to work. A hundred miles from his destination the truck just up and quit.

Four days and two disasters. Surely you're doing better than that.

313 I have to ask: Are there any men left in western civilization that will not betray us?

No -- with possible exception of Trump, who's a freak of nature, but not 100% sure yet on him.

At minimum, Warren cabinet would be populated with Hillary cronies and Hillary would be running a shadow government.

At minimum, Warren would last about six months.

When it becomes a straightjacket that gets exploited by your enemies and brings you nothing but grief, integrity can become a major liability.

The challenge is revising your rules in such a way that eliminate the exploitation without abandoning principle.
