Gun Thread: A Quickie! [Weasel]

quickie pic scaled.jpg
Time for a Quickie?

Hey! I'm talking about the delicious, wholesome and refreshing milk chocolate drink, you perverts!

Geez - has it been another whole week already? And how in the ever-loving hell did it get to be September? Frankly, I'm not done with last summer yet, much less this one! I was going to lead off with some sort of Labor Day theme, but since celebrating Labor Day is for Commies, I decided agin' it. With your permission I'm going to keep this week's thread on the short and quick side if that's OK.

With that, let's see what there is to discuss, shall we?

One thing we hear a lot from new shooters, or old shooters looking at a new gun, is a certain model doesn't "fit" their hand correctly, or doesn't "feel" right. What I suspect they mean is that the grip isn't comfortable for one reason or another. A great example of this are the smaller pocket pistols, like the Ruger LCP or Sig P238, and it may be because they aren't able to wrap all four fingers around the grip and their pinky is just sort of hanging there with nothing to do. If you follow the Sig link, you'll see some models are shown with a magazine (the "clip" for you retards) extension to accommodate the undercelebrated smallest finger, the pinky. You can see what I'm referring to on the slightly larger Sig P230SL shown below.

sig p230sl scaled.jpg
Sig P230SL - see the pinky extension?

The fact is, even with space to join the other fingers, the pinky doesn't realy contribute much in terms of grip strength and it doesn't really matter if it's on the grip or not. Having said that, comfort and feel contribute bigly to a shooter's confidence so from that perspective, it's still important. I want my grip to be firm and comfortable, but also realize the benefit of these small guns is, well, their smallness. You can often become accustomed to a grip that doesn't feel comfortable to begin with through practice, and I always advise people to try a gun on the range whenever possible before they buy it. Many ranges offer rental guns in same the models they sell, and shooting a hundred rounds or so can give you a much better feel for the handling characteristics than a minute or two with it at the sales counter.

The whole idea behind these small compact pistols is concealed carry and use in a self-defense situation. These guns may not even be your primary carry weapon, but rather the one you take along when your usual handgun isn't practical. With that in mind, in an emergency do you really think you would notice how happy your pinky is, or would you be more focused on drawing the weapon and addressing the situation before you? I have never been in combat or had to draw a weapon on anyone, but I'm pretty certain in that circumstance I'd be all jacked up on adrenaline and wouldn't be thinking very much about the mechanics of my grip. I'll be the first to admit this is entirely conjecture on my part. I've never been in that situation and can only surmise what my reaction would be.

What do you think? Have any of you have any actual experience with this and if so, do you remember thinking about your grip at all, or am I just full of shit? Do you think a magazine pinky extension would help?

Next week we'll take a look at larger handguns and some aftermarket replacement grips that might make an initially uncomfortable gun into a comfy one.

Link-O-Rama
Well, despite being a holiday for Commies, Labor Day is big for sales in the world of retail, with gun stuff and ammunition being no exception. It pays to be ahead of the supply curve and wait for sales and free shipping offers when you can, rather than buying when you need it. Here are a few sales that found their way into my inbox this week:

Ammunition Store: SALE!
Georgia Arms: SALE and FREE SHIPPING!
Fulton Armory: SALE!
AR 500 Targets: SALE and FREE SHIPPING!
Powder Valley: Black Powder FREE HAZMAT!
White Oak Armament: FREE Bolt Carrier Group Upgrade Offer!
Palmetto State Armory: SALE!
Brownells: SALE!
Lucky Gunner: SALE!

If I missed your favorite, don't forget to check them out this weekend - chances are they're having some sort of special offer. If you choose to share links in the comments, please use tiny URL to keep the margins intact. Thank you!

***Mail Bag***

We've spent some time lately discussing different range time practice strategies, and a couple of you have mentioned spending time with the .22LR as an economical way to do so. Our pal Butch makes a great point about using the often overlooked cartridge as a practice tool.

Dialed back to a .22LR pistol (S&W22 Victory) to focus on fundamentals

BUTCH RH scaled.jpg

The 22LR is a great cartridge, and is often passed over in favor of larger caliber cartridges which make a bigger bang. As Butch demonstrates, it's the perfect cartridge with which to practice fundamentals, and it's hard to argue with his results! Nice shooting, Butch!

12 "That's it for this week - have you been to the range?"

Yes! This morning, with AltonJackson. I just brought the Walther PPS M2 and the SIGM400.

The Sig works fine now with the replacement LE145 trigger, so good job to Rise Armament for prompt resolution. I put about 50-60 rounds through it while dialing in the scope a little better, with no failures of any sort.

The Walther PPS M2 is an excellent example of getting enough on the grip to feel comfortable. I just shoot better with the seven round mags and the pinky rest than with the sixes and the flat floorplate, even though it's not quite as concealable. It just doesn't add enough dimension, compared to the rest of the gun, to be a make-or-break for carrying it, but in the hand it makes a difference.

15 And yes, grip is a key factor. If it doesn't fit, then no matter how much one tries, the results will be less than optimal (but can still be satisfactory).

That's why I'll put my lil' Taurus G2 9mm up against any number of other handguns. It fits.

FWIW, the LCR seems to fit better than the LCP, so...

Agreed. I really don't think the extension is big enough to worry about, one way or another. I have them on some pistol magazines and not on others and think it's fine either way.

23 A great example of this are the smaller pocket pistols, like the Ruger LCP or Sig P238, and it may be because they aren't able to wrap all four fingers around the grip and their pinky is just sort of hanging there with nothing to do.

As I have told the Horde I am the proud new Pappy of a previously loved Ruger LCP. Pinky doesn't bother me, there's no room for it on the grip so it just slides underneath like it belongs there.

What I hadn't considered when I bought it was left-handedness. I held it and sighted it left handed and it felt fine so I bought it. And it is fine. But it's better right handed.

There's an extra groove on the left side of the grip for your thumb to nestle in to if you're right handed, and the cylinder release only works right handed so I have to load it and change hands.

Been in violation of my rule of having at least two firearms in every caliber I own. My other 7.62 x 39 rifle is a Rock River. Both are AR style rifles that accept AK magazines. 32 Question for the gun horde - why do modern pistols have to have slides? The Nambu didn't (and its .22 grandson, the Ruger Mark- whatever, doesn't).

When I look at a Ruger .22 pistol with the rail top, I think, "Perfect. Mount an optic with no fuss. And it's not banging back and forth on a slide."

So how come I can't have a striker-fired 9mm with a moving bolt in a solid-top frame? I understand the locking system would have to be different/beefier than the .22's. Does something about that preclude making a centerfire pistol in this configuration?

38 This week was Yugo SKS 59/66A1 time at the range. The one I have was made in 1985 and in basically brand new condition.

Easy to operate if a bit heavy, this rifle zeroed out at 25 and 100 yards before I shot her at 200-600 yards, irons sights.

From 200-300 she did ok, but out further she tends to spread a bit. The 7.62 x 39 drops like a rock after about 300 meters, so when I dialed up the sights she would hit steel about 50-50. Plus the trigger drags a lot and I tend to pull her right if I don't go real slow.

The fun part was I have some rubber practice grenades and using surplus Russian blanks was able to use the grenade launcher to shoot the practice grenades out to about 150 yards. They fly in a straight arc and you can get pretty good at placing them. Only downside is you have to walk out and pick them up to shoot again.

Here is the link for the rubber grenades:

Why couldn't another party come up and blast Dana away since she might be considered an accomplice to the slasher being held for the authorities?

I paid basically nothing for it as a parts gun with no magazine or slide stop but when I cleaned and lubed it, I found that it's definitely in fireable shape, after I bend the mag well back out. It sort of looks like it, or the guy carrying it in 1967, got run over by a heavy vehicle.

65 Had a multi-generation range trip this past week with my oldest and my father, which was pretty cool. Mostly shot with a SigPro 9mm, Glock 23 and 1911. Standard two-handed practice mostly with some one-handed practice thrown in too, both strong side and off hand, with the 1911. All things considered, it went reasonably well. Nothing went outside the 9 ring on the one-hand practice, though the groups were nothing to write home about. It was better than the last time, though.

My son did pretty good, especially for someone who doesn't get a whole lot of practice. He tore up the 10 ring his first target or two, and was pretty consistent for the front half of our range time. Fatigue started setting in toward the end of the back half, which frustrated him a bit. Still, we all had a really great time.

So Dana feels that walking up to a situation without any legal authority or any knowledge of what is going on and drawing down with the intent to kill is a safe legal move?

Why couldn't another party come up and blast Dana away since she might be considered an accomplice to the slasher being held for the authorities?

86 The magazine extension plays an outsized role in controlling recoil torque in small pistols. The German made Walther PPK pistols in .380 ACP used to ship with two magazines, one with a finger extension and one without.

The underside of the pistol's slide would painfully engrave its recoil path on the web of your shooting hand between thumb and index finger with the flat bottomed magazine, but not so much with the finger rest magazine. Your pinkie finger may not be very strong, but the magazine extension's location far from the bore axis gives it quite a lever arm.

I started both my kids with a Colt Woodsman .22.

Long before they actually shot the thing there was much practice involving safe handling, until it was pretty much ingrained.

After that, we had an entire year shooting a pistol with no perceptible recoil. Took some flak for spending that much time, but they have a lifetime of shooting ahead, so proper grounding (IMHO), is an imperative.

Now the older one can sometimes outshoot her father (I must admit I'm pretty good--so it makes me proud she can)if I have an off day.

Yes on pinky grip for LCP. No on Hogue grip for that gun - won't fit in Talon wallet holster. (Yes, on Colt Cobra; makes it much more controllable.)

116 Yeah, grips are a thing, but how big ?

Dunno, but just about every pistol I own has aftermarket grips:
- Pachmayr rubber on the various 1911's
- Pachmayr round-butt on the 629, square on the 66
- the carry J-frame has these hogue-knockoff cocobolo grips that rock for indexing the hand perfectly and maintaining grip through recoil - wish I knew where to get more; all they had, 30 years ago, was a little sticker that said Made In Phillipines. A pair for the 629 would be cool. Planning on carrying that next month when we go camping Up North.
- the Sig P290 and the old Model 60 have the factory grips still, as does the Colt Targetsman, the Beretta .25, and the PP. oh, and the newer mini .22.
- the old mini .22 grips are milled flat, but original otherwise

Being high canning season, and dealing with a bushel of very ripe 'maters, no range time today. SAD ! Maybe carve out some weekday time for it.

144 For years, when there was a skeet/trap range on the Chicago lakefront (O glory!) I shot clays with an old state police trunk-gun 870; 19" cylinder barrel, 8 shot mag tube, "thing that goes up", ...
got some weird looks, but they always let me shoot. I credit the wide pattern of that barrel with holding the Sedgwick Street Gun Club title for several years.
In that kinder, gentler time (80's) I could ride my bike up through Lincoln Park with a cased shotgun strapped on.

And yes, you may exit my lawn at your convenience.

148 Gonna weigh in on mouse guns. I am very happy with my Ruger .380 LCP. I've mounted a Viridian Reactor to it and it fits nicely in my hip pocket and (mostly) doesn't print. I've the mag with the pinky hook, which doesn't mean much. This thing is really "snappy" and you wouldn't want to spend TOO much time at the range... but practice, practice, practice.

I went thru a number of pistols for CC and I really like this one. YMMV

Picked up another couple hundred rounds of .45 and 9mm. Also a couple of boxes of .223 and .308. Somebody is going to inherit a lot of ammo if we avoid a civil war. I can't possibly shoot all I have at the range.

164 No range time this week, but did have some quality gun time.

Son had talked me into doing an AR-15 build. Last one we did was 50 Beowulf. This one is 350 Legend.

Last night, he took me and Mrs IMG out for dinner and brought my upper. I have a stripped lower and trigger on hand. Need to get the rest and assemble.

Cabela's had a good deal on ammo ($10.99 a box w/ free shipping). So I got 30 boxes.

Started Prelim Marksmanship Instruction with Grandson the Elder, too. He wants to go deer hunting this year. The Legend may be good for him, so I'll build it light as I can. And I may swap out the flash suppressor for a brake, but I think the recoil may be low enough for his young frame.

Also brought home a used 336 in 35 Rem. It's been to the woods more than a few times. I'll borescope it, but seems nicely serviceable.

167 83 42 Was listening to Dana Loesch Friday on way home and she talked about that slashing case, She said she would have drawn on the woman holding her for arrest. Of course Dana carries and has more trading with firearms than most.

So Dana feels that walking up to a situation without any legal authority or any knowledge of what is going on and drawing down with the intent to kill is a safe legal move?

Why couldn't another party come up and blast Dana away since she might be considered an accomplice to the slasher being held for the authorities?

I've shot my 1st gen. Ruger LCP without it.

Both are "snappy" no matter how I hold them.

They are close in, last line of defense weapons. Pick your poison. But don't expect to engage beyond 10 yards with any accuracy.

201 An relatively obscure variant, the Pachmayr "Gripper-Pro" offers a much more "squared" profile as compared to any other Pachmayr model.

Slightly "finger grooved", the front of the grip is relatively flat across the front-strap area, and the "Pro" is an Open Backstrap design, following the factory contour to the bottom of the grip-frame, and continuing on another 1/4" or so.

End result? Best recoil-absorption of any of the "rubber grips", not due to "softness", but rather, to a SUPERB engineering of recoil force distribution across much wider surfaces.

The ergonomics on these, at least to my hand, feel like I molded the grips myself, onto a wet-clay blank.

I'll have the S&W Highway Patrolman Model 28 there at the Mo Meet. Y'allz is welcome to shoots it!

215 The range we use has a couple of steel falling plate areas. Reactive targets are always fun but I use them in defensive drills. The idea is to knock over the plates as quickly as possible while keeping some degree of control. It forces you to concentrate on the front sight and consistent trigger pulls. This is one of the few times I shoot fast.

Anyone else do speed runs like this? It can be humbling when you miss half the 12 inch diameter plates at only 20 yards.

219 red - busts for mag buys based on surveillance out of state? A straw purchase/fake ID is of course a good thing to bust, not really what we're talking about. Federal offense.

I very much do not expect the CA fuzz to go to the effort and legal risk it would take to enforce the ammo or mag laws. That would surprise me. Diligence and effort are not the hallmarks of LE here.

221 "still want to convert my Rem 870 12 ga. To a home defense gun since I don't like it for clays."

1) Unscrew mag tube cap.
2) Pull off duck barrel.
3) Insert 18 1/2" riot barrel.
4) Screw mag tube cap back on.

If it's an Express, throw in a metal magazine follower and machined extractor (twenty bucks each, easy install). And you'll have to grind off the nubbins in the mag tube if you decide you need an extended mag.

Kind of scrap-yard randomized, but all 8x10 - 9x12 size in 1/4 - 5/16 inch hotrolled plate.

They made outstanding targets for that kind of offhand reactive / defensive shooting practice. Thanks for reminding me, still enough time to use them this year if I unass promptly !

Yes.

I can see there's several folks here who have not built one and want to. It might be helpful to spend some time on tools that are really helpful, but not essential, and why someone who might only build one rifle should think about getting a specialty tool for a single use.

Corollary to the tools are which parts one should have on hand for spares in case of loss during the build.

257 @114 Nearsider, it's a damn shame that shooting tiny groups is not for the cool kids any more, because that CZ is one of the finest for that useless OCD trick. I did some testing with those, years back, even had some heart-to-heart with some of their factory guys.

Not that it matters -- since target shooting is now, we are given to understand here, totally obsolete -- but back when certain Anschutz models and uncle's-closet Winchester 52's were about all that were worth bringing to a match NOT THAT ANYONE HERE WOULD EVER LOWER THEMSELVES TO SHOOT IN A MATCH -- when the CZ American came on the scene, the only reason it wasn't competitive for that useless and reviled form of shooting was that the factory insisted on sweating-on a hooded front sight which was not a globe-sight, the front sight you would use for competition. And, for reasons of their own, the factory did not have an easy way to un-sweat that field sight. Its out-of-the-box accuracy was impressive, and its potential was unlimited.

If you have the front hood removed, as you would for some sound-attenuating device, it would be no trouble at all to fit up a Redfield front globe sight, and then you would have an eminently competent rifle for a sport the bang-bang shoot-em-up mall ninjas here don't see the need for.

You boys play nice now.

258 Thanks Grump. I have to resume vigilance if I really expect to begin amassing the key parts. Just going for a very basic, simple, light carbine in 5.56.

Actually only practical accuracy interests me. Just not a precision/bullseye type. And even, as is typical, I'm looking at paper on a range, I'll want to make it interesting by shooting off-hand, changing positions, rapid and with reload, etc. Just personal taste.

And reactive targets much, much preferred.

I'm no skilled gunsmith but have built two AR platforms after watching/helping on one other. It is really a straightforward build. Mounting the barrels wasn't difficult.

As for checking the headspace, I haven't done that for either of my two rifles. Maybe I should have but didn't see the need.

Stand by. . .

Checked with #4 son - previously a gunnersmate in the Navy and did loads of work with all the weapons aboard his ships. His opinion is that if you buy decent components, there is no need to check the headspace. He said the parts are machined to decent tolerances these days and it simply isn't needed.

But I am no expert.

270 Mentioning the Reloading stuff, in conjunction with some SHTF stuff.

Gunbroker has .30 cal Raufus projectiles available for purchase there. 'Bout ten bucks per, but if you know what that thing *does*, you might want to have twenty or so loaded up.

Just in case.

Bad guy hiding behind a cinder block wall?

That round lets you turn significant portions of said wall into lethal shrapnel. I know in the .50 BMG size, that's about a six to ten ft. lethal radius on the exit side of the wall.

I'd presume the .30 cal ought to offer about 3 ft. to 4 ft. of misery, there.

It would be worth "sacrificing" one of those "500" steel plates, with a broad sheet of brown wrapping paper set up about 5' behind the plate. Just to see what the damage zone sizes out to be.

Digressing....yes, hits outweigh tiny groups in the real world. Which is why Falling / Swinging Plate stages are so valuable in IDPA and other matches.

I'll preach it again. Master this with the Double Action Revolver, and you'll be WAY better with every other gun out of your safe in the bargain.

292 Tonypete, I have the same impression on headspace - and you can buy components that are already checked together, though harder to come up with bargains that way [recall a few vendors offering BCGs headspaced to their barrels]. Just mentioned it as one of the few things that didn't seem very basic and easy [checking it of course is easy - just need gauges - but fixing a problem might be different].

299 Good news. Bernie wants to cancel all medical debt and make it illegal for medical debt to affect credit scores.

In other words Bernie wants all private hospitals to declare bankruptcy.

This is why the left always wins in the end. They wont outright declare private care illegal they will simply make it impossible for private care to exist.

Same with guns. They wont ban guns outright. They will make it impossible to make, sell or buy them via taxes and regulation.

And the GOP will go along with it cuz suburbs!!! Or something.

302 ...I would like to hear QUALITY optics on a budget.

Posted by: RedMindBlueState at September 01, 2019 08:42 PM (Lkiqj)

That's going to be pretty much in the $500 to $900 range. A great many quality manufacturers, and your choice is going to be driven more by features and reputation, than by brand alone.

Go over $1,000, and you're getting into the low-end of the Professional zone.

Break the $2,000 barrier, and you're out there running with (some of) the Big Boys.

$3,000 and up, you're ranking with the best of them, be they Tactical or Precision Competition types.

And yes, there are even spendier scopes than those.

I suppose there are few folks out there too, with equipment and skills demanding of such. But damn few.

Going full circle though. I've killed LOTS of deer with a simple 6x42 Leupold fixed power mounted on a Ruger 77 International in .308.

Long as you're not buying a scope that's packaged in "blister pack" and hanging on the pegboard at Wal Mart, the odds are you're going to get a "good enough" scope for out to 200 yards.

Further, and inferior optics, parts, assembly and design, will really begin to show.

Here's the problem in today's world. Entry level rifles such as the Savage Axis, Ruger American, etc, all around $300 or so, offer so great of an "out of the box" accuracy, that it'd be a SIN to put a "mere" $300 scope on one.

You want to get everything the rifle offers, start at least $500, not including mounts and rings.

Don't skimp on those, either!

The Nightforce scope is of course, a 30mm tube.

Ruger makes 30mm rings in Low, Medium & High.

The Objective Bell on the scope is 42mm.

Question 1. Which height Ruger rings would be the best ones to try first? I don't mind having to send 'em back for a different height, but would like to get it right on the first try.

Question 2. Given the Ruger "receiver to base' mounting system, are there superior aftermarket rings that I should consider which are compatible with this system?

354 ]334 I have a rifle that shoots 22LR. Love it. I don't hunt with it. but it has it's uses.

I put a very cheap scope on it, which does what I want.

I want more than narrow glass. For the situational awareness that is in it.

Are electronic scopes a sound alternative?
Posted by: NaCly Dog at September 01, 2019 09:21 PM (u82oZ)

By electronic, I am thinking you mean red dot or holographic.

For SA considerations, you want your optic to be true 1x. Then you can shoot with both eyes open. This will work with a 1x scope, too, but it needs to be truly 1x, not 1.2x or 1.1x.

The next thing is eyebox. Holographic sights are more forgiving. Telescopic sights the least.

I have lots of astigmatism, so red dots and holographic sights show me a spiky smear, not a nice dot. So, I go with 1-4x or 1-6x scopes.

For the 350 Legend, I'll likely go with a first focal plane scope and a 300 Blackout BDC type reticle.

Posted by: RedMindBlueState at September 01, 2019 09:19 PM (Lkiqj)

MA, CT, VT and NY cops have all staked out NH state liquor stores and arrested people when they crossed back into the cops' jurisdiction. NH has tried to push back against the practice, but it is a game of who catches who.
And all of this is over the difference in liquor tax, not something that is supposed to be prohibited, like fireworks or firearms.

367 Cops who pull people over for revenue violations are road bandits, highwaymen with a letter-of-marque.

Those are the cops who make it hard for people to respect cops when the good ones are trying to enforce real laws.

And on the topic of gubs and movies, just a reminder to those trying to figure out exactly which heaters were used in a given movie, remember the website "imfdb.org" - internet movie firearms database. Also cool incredibly esoteric gun nut trivia - one of my faves was how in the classic "Zulu" ["introducing Michael Caine"] they didn't have enough of the proper period rifle, so they also used some modified historic rifles as stand-ins [think it was a Moron who first brought that up] - and they have stills to illustrate the point.

My experience is old '95 and earlier but back then most of west Texas was tied up in private land and leases. Can't imagine that it has gotten better thru the years. Southwest Kansas has a lot of public land that, in good hatch years, has a lot of birds. Last year was bad but year before was fabulous.

386 Dunno if still the case, but Weasel VA had a pretty bad case of police acting as obnoxious tax collectors WRT booze, years back. They'd stake out Eagle Liquors just across Key Bridge in Georgetown/DC for people buying bulk booze for parties back in VA.

Best ever, though indirect "evidence" [thankfully no actual event to confirm], returning thru Dulles airport from Fwahnce back in the 9Os, a customs guy asked me - after I'd declared my 6 bottles of wine, I think - whether I had driven to the airport myself. I laughed and asked why such an odd question.

He explained that with that much imported alcohol, VA cops could seize my car. I had taken the bus, so academic, but I never did find out if he was correct. Pretty idiotic to have a federal customs guy warning you about predatory state "law enforcement", though - and/or telling about the state of things.

His brother didn't get so lucky. He was pinched crossing I495 into VA with a truck load of booze.

My dad worked for the National Security Agency, his brother Central Intelligence Agency.

411 @Jim

For your M-77 African, check out Weigand Machine and Design. They make a Picatinny rail that mounts to the ring mounting spots milled into the M-77's receiver. That will add height, so a low ring set should work. I used one of their rails on my Redhawk.

Ruger site says to use their Medium rings for the receiver mounted ones.

Does your objective bell need to clear a rear iron sight? NightForce makes 30mm rings in 5 heights.

Worst case: some measuring with calipers, some cipherin', maybe email or phone calls to get rail height.

413 Re: optics and budget

There is a minimum floor depending on the type of optic you want, below which you're just pissing away money.

Red dots - for many years it was basically Aimpoint or bust. A new one runs about 450, used can be had for as low as 300 with mount. Surprisingly, Holosun, mostly via the Primary Arms in-house models, has been trying to break into the good quality red dot market, and has been holding up to hard use on rental ranges. I would still stay get the Aimpoint if you have the scratch for it and stick with irons and a good light if not, *if* you can use irons. Not everyone has the eyes for them.

Magnified optics - this is where the price pain comes in. There are A LOT of shit scopes. I highly recommend SWFA Super Sniper for budget precision; their entire shtick is tank-like, no-frills glass that is optically adequate combined with dead nuts reliable tracking. They're Japanese, not made in China or the Philippines. I would not worry about taking some of their stuff to war, but would touch very little else in terms of "tactical" glass under $1000.
.

$300 and up will get you a fixed power SWFA in 6/10/12/20x
$600 will get you an SWFA 3-9x

For low power variable non-precision use with capped turrets, $400-550 will get you a 1-4x Trijicon Accupower with Japanese glass assembled in the US. There are also similar models at about $550+ in the Steiner P4xi and Zeiss Conquest, both of which should have much brighter illumination (for the purpose of using them like a red dot on 1x)
.

It is ABSOLUTELY worth dropping ~$130 or more on rings, even on a Super Sniper. Something like Seekins. You will basically have the things forever and will save a shit ton of time, money, and ammo on chasing scope mounting problems. You also may avoid scope mounting problems some day when you can't go out and shoot freely. I also highly recommend buying or borrowing an Arisaka scope leveling tool..

Don't use vertically split rings for precision glass (they pinch parts of the scope tube that can interfere with tracking), however the LT204 mounts are hard to beat for low power 1-whatever scopes on AR's and the like, at about $140..

Some of the 1-6x Vortex lines like the Strike Eagle and Viper are gaining popularity even overseas among the military, but the guys using them usually have 1-2 other sighting methods on their rifles and a team full of buddies with rifles, so I don't think that's applicable to a budget optic discussion for individual civilians..

I'm not the person to ask about capped-turret scopes for hunting purposes; that's usually going to be a matter of light weight, ability to hold zero with impacts, and more of the price sunk into good glass instead of consistent adjustments (since you're not going to dial it). But those are for critters, not fighting..

If you want to add above average glass to "tracks consistently and holds up to abuse", you are looking at $1000+ cutting some corners (Nightforce SHV/Bushnell LTRS/higher end Super Sniper), $1500 and up for no-shit military grade stuff (NXS, NX8, Razor, etc)

The neat thing about these web based casinos today is generally there is something for folks.

Ah, but wait. Charlie also always be see a victory cap.
Yep, you've has to cap your wins leave before all this goes bye-bye.
Keep this realistic. For instance, advertising set the win cap at $200, you'd leave when your bankroll
equals $200, you'll be able to be a $100 gain-or a 100% increase.

Anything more than 200% is quite unrealistic.

Raise to the position ahead of the button is a tactic that work well.
When you do this, you accomplish several things at once.
To get whoever in the button position to fold could be the first objective of this poker deal with.
Because if the person in that position fold, then after you are on the
button, you'll be able to act very. It makes you more credible, that's second thing this poker strategy equals.
After you raise from the button, the majority of the players
often wonder when you have really possess a strong . While if
you raise in the guts position the opposite of it occurs, which often automatically believe you possess a strong hand or foot.
Setting up a bluff for the following betting round is
method to thing you accomplish.

For example, in a tournament poker the factor of luck is rather considerable -
here an excellent champion potentially the knock after extremely round.

Here a one that has got a gambling experience of just one year, rrn excess of that, on-line, can win the largest tournament and get a check for a seven-digit sum.
Occurred just thus last year at society Series of poker.

Nowadays poker is played by a multitude of millions of people all around the world, I advise for you
to definitely start playing this interesting game end up being considerably put in your
budget consequently or even become your profession and principal earner!
