Previously frozen. Very cheap. Have not done much with beef ribs, want to explore a bit. Unfortunately the good stuff, short ribs, are now $ rather than cheap. I remember as a teen my mother had short ribs marinated for 48 hours that I grilled for us - the aroma was so amazing that our dog actually cried/whined as I cooked them. But she got the bones for weeks, so not totally a loss for her.

I was really lucky earlier in life to be able to do a lot of hiking in the Grand Canyon. It's hard to explain, but it is so vast, that being in the Canyon are the only times I have ever completely felt like I was in some other world, unconnected to this one. When you are in it, you realize, you can feel, that it really is it's own world.

Both my wife and I remember that when we were kids, they had "Esther" the Indian Mummy laid out in a glass box in the visitors center. Wanna talk about creepy, now THAT was creepy! Her bony jaw was all cattywampus grinning at you. I think Esther has been memory holed, I don't think the Park Service will even admit they ever did that now.

I was actually able to climb up the one knoll and see the Sun Dagger the last summer it was open to the public; for many years now it's been restricted for fear that someone would damage it. It's a spiral carved into a rock face behind some curiously piled boulders on top of a small peak; on June 21 each year, a shaft of light comes through a crack between two of the boulders and passes perfectly through the exact middle of the spiral.
In one of the large rooms at one of the Great Houses in Chaco, they found the skeletons of a couple of hundred parrots that they must have imported up from central Mexico.

I have ridden all over that country. On a mtn bike.
Also was one of the last people to ever drive all of Canyonlands Roads. We were back in there taking color plates of the Pictographs for the U of Az. the last season it was legal to drive offroad in the park.
That was an amazing trip. Hundreds and hundreds of miles of remote jeep roads that hadn't seen travel in over a decade.

The Navajo reaction to the ruins was interesting - it was his job to go with us, but we could tell he didn't like it and really didn't want to do it at all. And he wouldn't go into them at all like us fool whites. Talking with others who deal with them, the Navajo know that it wasn't their people who built those, they had nothing to do with them, and they consider them to be places full of old bones and bad spirits that they've got no business being around.

I think kris Kristofferson was just exercising poetic license. The term "mouth harp" is used for harmonica, and blues bands often have "harp players". So I think he took "harpoon" from that, maybe just to make the line scan right.

that is pretty standard. Obviously there are many types of rice and
applications so it is situation dependent.
Now,
rinsing pasta is a big no no in most applications. I guess it is ok for
pasta salads and that type of picnic fare but not for Italian food.
The starch helps the sauce cling to the noodles.

Homework
before the trip would include viewing the relevant scenes from "Lawrence

I recall seeing a video years ago about Jordan. One of the Jordanian Royal Family sons was traveling around the country, doing hard corps rappelling, spelunking, etc. His background was in the Jordanian Special Forces. It was an infomercial for the country,but a good one. I would like to see that again.

No one will finance a film without a completion bond, which is like insurance in case the production goes bust. Some actors are considered poison to completion bonds, Marilyn Monroe being perhaps the most notorious case. She was called "uninsurable" in the late stages of her career because no one would issue such a bond in any production she was involved in. Lindsay Lohan also enjoys this status now.
I guess Kathy Griffin falls into the same category, although I'm not sure why. No, really. She'd show up to work every day and do her best, so I'm not sure what she means when she says she can't get insurance.

a Medal of Honor for his performance in front of Congress. How could
this not get major blowback? She argues this guy deserves a Medal of
Honor because he answered with short sentences and did not get riled
up. I guess the education system is so poor that it is ok to say
someone deserves a Medal of Honor for basically supporting your view and
acting the way you wish they would act during an interview. I get
Mueller served his country, but that has nothing to do with it. You
don't get to say people deserve a Medal of Honor because you like them
or for any reason other than gallantry above and beyond on the field of
battle.
I realize this is 2019 and
absurdities fly on the net and in the media on a constant basis. But
this is just crazy that MSM papers put this crap out. It is an insult.

The devil is in the details. First of all, there is no conceivable reality in which SLS will be "ready later this year". Its first test flight is currently sometime in 2020, and they are actually discussing skipping ground tests in order to keep it from slipping into 2021.
The discussion of SpaceX being more about public relations than accomplishment is "not even wrong" as the saying goes. Substitute Boeing and SLS for SpaceX and the description is much nearer the truth. Projection much?
The comments at Transterrestrial Musings take apart the article better than I can. The author is suspected of being a paid shill for Boeing.

Yes, I got all caught up with yard work last weekend. It's now the time of the year when the grass doesn't grow as fast as it did a month or two ago, so I think I can skip it this weekend.
