Good work if you can get it. And it is constitutionally protected.

A federal court on Wednesday rejected claims by an unlicensed “health coach” that the unqualified health advice she provided to paying clients was protected speech under the First Amendment.

In rejecting her claim, the court affirmed that states do indeed have the right to require that anyone charging for health and medical services—in this case, dietetics and nutrition advice—be qualified and licensed. (State laws governing who can offer personalized nutrition services vary considerably, however.)

Heather Del Castillo, a “holistic health coach” based in Florida, brought the case in October of 2017 shortly after she was busted in an undercover investigation by the state health department. At the time, Del Castillo was running a health-coaching business called Constitution Nutrition, which offered a personalized, six-month health and dietary program. The program involved 13 in-home consulting sessions, 12 of which cost $95 each.

A man ended up losing his baby. You don't say? Just another case of mental illness run amok.

Another example of the problems created by destroying the meaning of words is exemplified in an article called Blurred lines: A pregnant man’s tragedy tests gender notions.

The author criticizes hospital staff for treating a transgender man like a man.

You would think that’s what they are supposed to do, right? Go along with the new make-believe definition of male and female, just like the headlines does (because just a reminder, in the real world, men can’t be pregnant).

But now hospital staff are being blamed for failing to realize that this “man” was pregnant…

“He was rightly classified as a man” in the medical records and appears masculine, Stroumsa [lead author of a study published in the New England Journal of Medicine] said. “But that classification threw us off from considering his actual medical needs.”

Sadly, the “man” ended up losing the baby.

Yawn. Another 10 year time frame to change the way we live to save the world. Radical change needed to make UK food and farming system sustainable within 10 years

The true cost of cheap, unhealthy food is a spiralling public health crisis and environmental destruction, according to a high-level commission. It said the UK’s food and farming system must be radically transformed and become sustainable within 10 years.

The commission’s report, which was welcomed by the environment secretary, Michael Gove, concluded that farmers must be enabled to shift from intensive farming to more organic and wildlife friendly production, raising livestock on grass and growing more nuts and pulses. It also said a National Nature Service should be created to give opportunities for young people to work in the countryside and, for example, tackle the climate crisis by planting trees or restoring peatlands.

Good bye body-shaming. Hello coffee-shaming.

Suze Orman wants young people to stop “peeing” away millions of dollars on coffee. Last month, the personal-finance celebrity ignited a controversy on social media when a video she starred in for CNBC targeted a familiar villain: kids these days and their silly $5 lattes. Because brewing coffee at home is less expensive, Orman argued, purchasing it elsewhere is tantamount to flushing money away, which makes it a worthy symbol of Millennials’ squandered resources.

If you are headed to the EAA in Oshkosh, WI next month and have a few dollars burning a hole in your pocket. You may want to order the largest hybrid electric plane to date.

Not long ago, hybrids were novelties on roads around the world. The skies may be next.

Ampair, a Los Angeles clean tech company in my neck of the woods, is set to begin accepting orders for a hybrid electric aircraft at the EAA AirVenture airshow in Wisconsin next week. Dubbed the EEL, the aircraft is in fact a retrofit of a Cessna 337, an aircraft that has a forward-mounted prop engine that pulls and a rear-mounted prop engine that pushes. Ampair's retrofit will replace one of those internal combustion engines with an electric motor powered by batteries.

It's the latest example of a long-pursued goal of electrification in air travel. Aviation currently contributes 12 percent of all U.S. carbon emissions and 4.9 percent globally. With rising awareness of the threats of carbon emissions, there's been renewed interest in e-planes, with companies like magniX and Ampair racing to develop viable electric drivetrains.

I feel safe now, don't you?

Martin admitted to collecting terabytes of hush-hush dossiers, manuals, code, blueprints, and such files, from the NSA over the course of his 22-year career as a private contractor with the American intelligence agency. From 1993 to 2006, Martin hoarded data classified as "Secret" and "Top Secret" and took them home to his Maryland residence.

The documents Martin stole were said to include NSA reports on its targets and the intrusion techniques foreign hacking groups had used against Uncle Sam. He also collected software and documents on the exploits and monitoring tools that NSA and US government hackers used against foreign targets.

teenager is facing serious consequences after ramming into a police car and breaking an officer's leg.

Benjamin Saurini, 19, says he had trouble seeing out of his windshield on Friday because of the pot smoke fogging up his car windows. Saurini admitted he was trying to flee police near Melbourne, Australia, after smoking cannabis in the car with some friends.

Driving away from the scene, he panicked and side-swiped a police cruiser—pinning a senior constable against the car and breaking the officer's leg. The constable is still in the hospital after undergoing surgery on Monday.

Well, I have to tell you folks, under a Trump papacy we are going to repeal and replace the Novus Ordo.

(Wild cheers, applause)

Repeal and replace the Novus Ordo. We have no choice folks, we have no choice. We really don't. The Novus Ordo is going to collapse on its own anyway. Mass attendance keeps plummeting. We have to do something. The Novus Ordo will be repealed and it will be replaced with something much better and magnificent. More and reverent and beautiful. Don't you want something reverent and beautiful for our Mass?

(Cheers)

I found this book the other day. It's a 1962 Missal. I read it, it's fantastic. Maybe we go back to the 1962 Missal? Is that OK?

(Cheers, applause)

Maybe we go back to Latin. I'm a big fan of the Latin. When we used Latin we were number one. We went to English and now the Muslims outnumber us. They kept Arabic they go to number one, we ditch Latin, we go to number two. I'm just saying.

Suze Orman wants young people to stop "peeing" away millions of dollars on coffee.

As opposed to all the other ways people piss away their money.
The problem isn't $5 lattes, it's a lack of personal responsibility.

80 No big fan of Suze Orman, but she is so right. I worked with a girl, close to my age, made the same $$ as me. Everyday she came in with a Starbucks. Every lunch went and got another.

Raved about her landlord being so mean as to charging her late fees and about the shut off notices from the utilities. But had a new tattoo every couple months.

I brought a thermos of home brew every day. Some people just can't do math. Even when you lay it right out for them, they cannot fathom "It's only $4", equals $250 a month.

96 So when does the John Katshit get eaten by bears?

True story: Bozo Conservative lives near Katshit. The first time I went down to visit him, I said I wanted to see Katshits home. So we took a walk. It was hot and I got lost going down there, so I spent the walk bitching .

So we're walking down this road a few blocks from his house, and some sort of SUV passes us. I'm not paying attention, I'm bitching about the badly marked roads in Ohio. The SUV passes us, Bozo Conservative looks at me and says "That was Kasich. He waved at us."

I didn't miss a beat and replied, "He waved at you, you're a voter here."

The best part of this story is that I've edited it somewhat in the retelling, and now his sons believe that Katshit looked at the two of us together, gave Bozo Conservative a thumbs up, and mouthed "way to go dude."

Center Township Engine 222 was dispatched to a medical alarm in Lebanon, IN Sunday afternoon.

When crews arrived, they found an older woman outside in her yard.

Due to the excessive heat and humidity, CTFD Engine 222 and Boone County EMS Medic 21 crews did the weed eating and picked up some vegetation in her yard.

143 Ok, it's a slow night...

Family can be a PITA. Rant follows.

DIL's Great Grandma/Grandpa are having a 75th anniversary. This is a big deal. Not many folks live long enough for such an event.

The local priest will be coming to celebrate Mass in their home for the family, followed by a brunch. Later in the day there will be an open house party, buffet, a band.

Great Grandma/Grandpa have eight children. One of whom has a spouse who is undergoing treatment for a serious illness. Part of that requires no children/sick people etc. be around them. They want to attend this event and are cool with saying, "We'll come for the Mass and brunch and then leave so everyone else with kids can come for the afternoon/evening festivities." But NO, half the family (mainly grandkids with young great-grandkids) are offended. My DIL offered that her relatives who wanted to go to the Mass could drop off their kids at her house and come back to fetch them after "Ellen and Larry" leave.

NOT good enough - they start bitchin' about why should they have to come back and get the kids, why can't she just drive them all over when it's time. Evidently none of them are smart enough to figure out that this would be a child seat, logistical nightmare. And would require my son and DIL to drive 2 vehicles in order to accommodate all the kids .

Am I a jerk for thinking they're jerks, or are they jerks?

156 I have been reading that the student loan racket allows them to not only borrow the cost of the *education*, but also the money to pay for their living expenses while in school.

You read about some of these people who have $250,000-$500,000 in student loan debt, and you figure there have to be some Hawaiian vacations buried in there.

That, and the magic of compound interest if you aren't paying off your debt.

Well, it seems like a few things are going on here.

It seems to me that the sick person wants a lot of people to go out of their way to attend only limited parts of an event so they can attend.

Conversely, a lot of the other people want their kids to be part of it, and don't want to make accommodations for anyone.

Is either one right? I don't know; I sympathize with both sides; the sick person wants to be part of a big family event, but can't because of their illness, while the other family members want their children to attend the same event unfettered. Since they're in the position of making many poeple try to accommodate the needs of the one, it would probably be best for the person who is struggling with their health to stay home and attend via Skype or something.

234 So, I had this bit of good luck. My USB RAID thing [skipping this, and also skipping] so the other USB RAID thing [skipping] etc.

So, I went to the local Best Buy, and they had a WD 8TB external drive for 129!

So, I brought it up to buy it, and they were like, "Yeah, that's $169!" And I said, no, it isn't, it's $129.

The upshot is, they sold it to me for $129, and they were great about it. I was great about it. Everyone was great about it, though I noticed the floor manager guy was crumpling up a price tag thing as he authorized the sale.

The next day, I walked into the same Best Buy and looked, and they had the same drive for $139. So, I think, I won. I guess.

I bring this up only because I am a no-one who will die alone, and comments in websites might be the only way I will be ignored through eternity.

That's not my current experience. In my outfit, if they 'let you go', they will pay some severance. If you quit, you get nothing. I got a 240GB SSD from Best Buy that was supposed to be in the store (according to the website) but the guy couldn't find it. Then they found it, so I bought it. It's doing a fresh install of OS X 10.11 right now.

My sister took the proceeds from the sale and bought a handbag, of all things. But I was talking with her today and she said she still uses it seven years later. So I guess it worked out all around.

Just as we pull up to the front gate, the wind starts gusting and as we pull in front of the house and turn off the car, the clouds burst.

What a relief after these scorching days.

There were road crew along the way, evidently repairing some severely buckled pavement - both lanes - everyone had to drive on the shoulder. I rolled down the window and shouted "God bless you guys!" One guy heard and yelled 'thanks.' The storm should just make their work all the more fun.

You really appreciate it when you've had to use other, lesser VCS like Subversion. Consider:
In SVN, you can branch and merge repos. But a branch is the entire repo, not just the delta. So branching a 30MB repo, which is hardly uncommon, takes another 30MB. Which isn't much by itself, granted, but it's unwieldy to push the branch out to the server (because it's not distributed, so EVERYTHING must go back to the server) all the time. And pull everyone else's branches.
Then you get to commit your wee little change. Git merges are pretty straightforward. If there are conflicts, resolving them is straightforward and transparent. If you want to commit some changes but not others, you can stash changes to your branch so they won't be considered for the merge. Subversion lines up both branches - each one a full-weight copy of the master - and crashes them into each other at full speed. The wreckage is left in your checkout directory (at least three new files for each conflict) and you get to clean it up before you can work on anything else.

316 Had a productive day today. Finished the body filler and primer stages of the rust repair to the rocker panels of the F150. Mixed up some "Steel-It" paint with about an equal volume of gasoline in a coffee, and used my engine-cleaning siphon sprayer to blast that mixture into the interior of the rocker panel via the access holes on the inside face. I spread paper to catch what dripped out; surprisingly, very little did. A shot of color-matching silver metallic paint, and some clear gravel guard, and it is done.

Did two bouts of lawn mowing, as break time waiting for stuff to dry. Mower is working real well, too.

Took a box of Keystone beer back to the liquor store, as it was just plain undrinkable; tasted like seawater. Got a box of Old Milwaukee instead, which is good for lawnmower beer.

And chipped a bunch of rust off the steel underparts of the Ford's running boards, and got a coat of black rust one one of them. Sun was getting low in the sky, so I quit.

"We don't have any reverence any more in the Catholic Church. No reverence anymore. I'm a big believer in reverence. You have to have reverence. Because without reverence it all becomes a joke. And the Mass is not a joke, is it? And, I must tell you, that under a Trump papacy we will have so much reverence in the Mass again, you will not believe it. You simply will not believe the reverence."

(Cheers, applause)

"And then the Communion comes and the bad music starts. It's like I'm at a bad Woodstock concert, it really is. The guitars start, the guy with the ponytail starts singing. And I see people going up to receive God, OK. I just converted, but I read this in Trent, OK, it says we believe Communion is God. It says it right here, I have it highlighted, OK. And the people are receiving God in their hand, crumbs are falling, they're standing there putting it up to their mouth like a potato chip. They're dressed like they just came from the mall. And I see this, and I'm like, what are we doing, folks? What are we doing? Are we Catholics or are we Protestants? I know some Protestants who wouldn't receive Communion the way we receive Communion or dress the way I see some people dressing. No respect, folks. No respect, no reverence. Look, I have a meeting with a CEO and we want to do a deal he comes dressed in a suit. It's respect. If he shows up in shorts and flip flops I tell him get the hell out of my office, OK. Because it's a joke. He shows no respect and he's not taking it seriously. He's gone. Bye bye. And under a Trump papacy that's where these people will be. You don't respect the boss? Bye bye."

328 @278 You know sonny, when I came out of college, nobody called it "STEM" because it never occurred to anyone to give a jumped-up lab assistant the title "technologist." Due to the great NASA jack-off, there was a Western-world-wide surplus of researchers who had little to no hope of ever having a lasting university job, and the private science labs were folding up as fast as they could merge. Engineers were going to work selling cars, or running a shift at a factory. The machinists made fun of them.

To hear you bray, it must be a swell time to be all stemmy right now. Don't assume for one more moment that it always will be. At several key points in our economic cycles, it has not. If you do not know this, you're either not old enough or you were not paying attention.

I was reading about Torvald's creation of Git. One humorous quote was something he told those working on it with him, "Let CVS be your guide. If there's a question, do the opposite of what CVS does."

He was in need of a version control system for the Linux kernel. THere were problems with the one they were using, BitKeeper.

So he wrote some specs for the version control they needed for the Linux kernel.

THere was no product that met those specs, so he had to write his own.

Another quote that tickled me. Git is written in C, pure C, not C++. Some programmer complained about that, and Linus scorched saying, "...and, if using C serves no other purpose than keeping C++ programmers out of the project, then it's worth it."

366 Actually, if you are an executive with a non-compete clause, they want you to quit, so you can't get another job in your industry. If they fire you, you can, in theory at least, take all their secrets to their competitor. At least that's how I understand it.

If you're at a high enough level to be under contract, the non-compete clause is in place whether you quit or are fired. If you are fired, how easy would it be to get another job in that industry (ok, easier than you might think)?

Well, non-binary, where I live, I'm not certain either exist. There used to be a Catholic Church, hidden down some alley, I'm not certain it's still there. There might be some Ned Flanders type Church around, I don't know where it actually is. since we aren't getting it back no how no way, allow her to go chapter 7 banko, after proving she is unable to make the payments to pay off within seven years,

Then have her agree to file single, no deductions, on a 1040EZ form for seven years and take any refund from Federal and (if any) state return.

And tell the universities they have to co-sign any future loans to avoid any repeats.

414 Ever since Kierkegaard started propagating his devotions about individual salvation, the Western society has grown to understand that a man stands before God or falls on his own, not his relationship with, standing in--or history of contribution to an organization.

That also informs my understanding.

Of course, that needs to be tempered with our role in serving those who make the hard choice to be shepherds. Thus, those people striving boldly for God will always be "ministers" in effect, and as a result, have a role of God's messengers.

The photo of the car being winched out of the water shows the driver's window down, and the left rear window up. I don't know if the car was air-conditioned, or not. Kennedy might have rolled to driver's window down to escape the car.

IIRC, the car was found, barely submerged, in a nose-down attitude. Front window, open or closed, would make little difference to the persistence of an air bubble in the rear roof area.

438 Saw this thing about Wokies "attacking masculinity".

However, I'm considering that masculinity is simply a mindset that promotes the realization that there will be opposition in this world and "manning up" (preparing for it).

That seems to be the quintessential reality of masculinity. And it also explains why progs are against it. Having exiled themselves from the ultimate Deus ex Machina, their only paradise is the human-caused cessation of all human conflict. So, the masculine variety seems out of step with the "hope for the best" variety. We'll just think of some way to get mankind to live with all the rest of mankind and masculinity will be as outdated as John the Savage.

In standard wish-fulfillment motif of progressivism, they convince themselves that solutions are already underway and so masculinity is already outdated.

This, I find, is also why they can't take a realistic look at the success rate of Marxist revolutions and must keep the faith that this time is different.

He could have knocked her over the head, which could be explained away by the busted windshield, and expected her to drown without regaining consciousness. But the cold water revived her, but still not in her right mind, explaining her futile attempts to escape the car, which was not in deep, deep water.

How the blews can be so concerned about vague suspicions of Trump's "crimes" and still can't muster up much concern about a possible, motivated murder--or abandonment--just points up their special case psychology. How they can put section off any part of their mind and keep themselves from actual comparisons of like to like.

The problem I find with that simplification is that if you depict them as wanting to make Man a slave to the government, you have lost them right there.

I can't find in any of their rhetoric the direct implication that they want to make Man a "slave" to the government. They deny so many things about themselves, that of course, if their literature doesn't even touch on it, they are going to outright deny that they want anything like that.

So my emphasis is always on their motivation to delude themselves. What they do is wish heavily that scarcity would become antiquated, that opposition would fade, and in their mind, they want to believe that that progress is already underway. And that people who reserve skepticism are part of the problem.

So they create dogma that must be observed, that must be accepted, that they demand that you not resist.

Green new deal? Single Payer Health Care? Socialism? Higher income Tax?

They wish to use the power of Government, ie the power of the GUN, to force us to belong to the State.

Yeah, but if you like your bathroom, you can keep your bathroom. They are not trying to control what bathroom you can use.

They only point out that the traditional division of bathrooms discriminates against people who feel alien to the bathroom to which they have been assigned. And in the end, there are not enough bathrooms for all the genders--and as a result, bathroom division by sex is probably superfluous (and discriminatory!) anyway.

So, practically, they want to control what bathroom you use. But they don't want to change what bathroom you use in the immediate sense, just in the eventual sense.

Her panties discarded as often the case in her short life, Mary Jo took the wheel of a 6,000 lb. killing machine as a young and fragile Senator lay sleeping in a prone position in the back seat, a victim of a crab cake that was improperly stored in the afternoon heat. Even as she crashed the vehicle off the bridge into the raging waters in a drunken state, Ted fought valiantly to save her life. Repeatedly calling his attorneys from a safe location, he was able to retain a portion of her reputation to allow a proper burial, and demanded that all criminal and civil charges be dismissed against her estate...Camelot...indeed!

Oh, I totally believe you can. And I wouldn't say that you should change that. I'm only describing why in my process simpler is not necessarily better.

Because I want to isolate the proggs as they express themselves verbally vs. how they eventually express themselves as a will.

It's roughly the same thing as when they call me a Nazi or a fascist yet I have none of the absolutism for the State that was characteristic of every fascist movement. They would tell me that they judge me from my actions, however, my lack of similarity in rhetoric would speak to my lack of legitimacy as a fascist, because fascism had an ideology of State Power for the practical use of the good of the majority. What spread between Italy to Germany was the ideology of a "ruthless" state "for the Good of a people".

But it's the belief that the unleashed State must be unhinged to "serve the people" that is precisely what makes fascism fascism. This has more in common with Abolishing the Electoral College as an impediment to the "Voice of the People" than it does the opposite.

This is an old communist idea. Old as in 19th century. If your only measure of a society's success is equality, and by that I mean equality of outcome and not the more reasonable equality under the law, you eventually butt up against the realization parents use unequal resources to give their children an advantage in life, and furthermore some parents are just better at parenting.

And since you view your fellow man as a cog in the great machine of society, no sacrifice on his part is too small to get that machine running the way you want it to run.

UK diplomacy and avoidance of the region. They keep saying that the UK doesn't have the assets to defend its shipping rights so they need diplomacy. I don't know a lot of the details and don't want to go too far here but something seems off to me. I am trying to remember the last time the UK was no humiliated by the Iran Navy, like in 2007.

I have been doing some research on the Falkland Islands War and what stands out is that the UK was ill equipped there as well. They did not win because of military might, they won because of leadership and fortitude. From the fly by night Vulcan bomber they put together to the Task Force they sent, it was not technological might but a sense of purpose that won. I don't want a war but it is sad when a nation like the UK allows itself to be humiliated over and over and only thinks of diplomacy. That was done prior to WW2 and was pretty much disowned.

510 What do Nazim, Communism, and Islamism all have in common over the last 100 years?

1. There is no truth, only competing agendas.

2. All Western (and especially American) claims to moral superiority over
any ismscism/Islam are vitiated by the Wests history of racism and colonialism.

3. There are no objective standards by which we may judge one culture to be better than another.
Anyone who claims that there are such standards is an evil oppressor.

4. The prosperity of the West is built on ruthless exploitation of the Third World;
therefore Westerners actually deserve to be impoverished and miserable.

5. Crime is the fault of society, not the individual criminal.
Poor criminals are entitled to what they take.
Submitting to criminal predation is more virtuous than resisting it.

6. The poor are victims. Criminals are victims. And only victims are virtuous.
Therefore only the poor and criminals are virtuous.

7. For a virtuous person, violence and war are never justified.
It is always better to be a victim than to fight, or even to defend oneself.
But oppressed people are allowed to use violence anyway.

8. When confronted with terror, the only moral course for a Westerner
is to apologize for past sins, understand the terrorists point of view,
and make concessions.
