Swave And De-Boner ONT

So what do you jokers feel like doing tonight? Maybe take in a moo-vie?

mooo-vie.jpg

Hate Chicken

Isn't it awful that Chick-fil-a is now the third largest food chain in the nation? I mean, where else can you find such horrible, hateful people? And the crowds! Terrible. Why, you never know when some crazy, raucous mob scene is going to erupt.

And on top of all that, their chicken is just awfully delicious. No thank you.

What I Did Last Sunday

This

I'm actually rather pleased with how it turned out.

History

I pride myself on knowing more than a little bit about history, and I'd never heard the story recounted in this article.

What Ted Cruz Got Wrong About Nathan Bedford Forrest Day

I'm still not ready to forgive his post-war actions, but this is an interesting example that shows that people are more complex than we think.

Forget Yoko

Next time y'all misbehave, I'm gonna punish you with an ONT that's nothing but this clip, over, and over, and over, and over.

Amusing Stuff

Dad’s 5-year-old daughter's hilarious answers to his questions have the internet screaming.

There is some funny stuff there, no doubt, but I also note this:

Comedy writer James Breakwell

Isn't it odd how someone who is by profession a comedy writer just happens to have a 5 year old who constantly says funny things that he can promote on Twitter? Maybe it's just the cynic in me, but I'm sure he's just sharing this stuff for the general amusement of the world, and surely not making it up to advance his career in any way. Of course not. And the fact that his 7 and 3 year old are also featured, well, that can only mean that the apples don't fall far from the tree, right?

I'm not the only one who finds this kind of thing suspicious.:

woke 3.png

Little is 14 and legitimately funny. Ask anyone who has met him. Know what he said when he was 3?

Daddy! Poo is brown!

Tweet of the Week

That guy's a future star, maybe a future president.

Road Trip!

Four kids steal parent's car and run away on 600-mile road trip

They were finally stopped by a herd of young goats blocking the road. When apprehended, the eldest was heard to say 'We would have gotten away with it if it wasn't for those meddling kids”

Can It Play 'Paper Lace'?

Tonight's ONT brought to you by AlextheChick:

There was a bit of backlash against him a few days earlier in the grey boxes, which I didn't understand or comment about.

Is he still politically too young in 2024? I believe he checks all the boxes with the requirements to the Constitution.

He loved being Batman. So for the next four months, he put on his cape everyday and ran around the house as Batman.

No mention of Ilhan Omar introducing pro-BDS resolution or fraudulent marriage to her brother for purposes of illegally immigrating.

114 When my grandson was 5, it was the year I had some oral surgery and for a
few months, was missing my front teeth, but I had a removable plate
which I wore most of the time so I looked normal. So I didn't want to
freak him out if he saw me without my teeth, so I explained it to him,
and said "for now they come out, but im gonna go back to to the doctor
and get that fixed soon, so you shouldn't worry, and you should see it
so you don't wonder." And I took it out and showed him how I looked
without it.

My Grandfather had a removable plate for his upper teeth. He used to say "Boo!" and pop it out of his mouth (it was still in his mouth, but sticking out) at me when I was 5.

117 I read that, while Nathan Bedford Forrest was a founder of the Ku Klux Klan, he later resigned when it went in a different direction than he originally intended. I don't know what he intended, though.

The thing that really made him a great man was when he received the news about Lee's surrender and gathered his troops and said, "The war is over. We lost. Go back to your farms."

His troops would have done anything for him. If he had ordered them to melt away into the wilderness and conduct a guerrilla war for the next 20 years they would have done it. Post Civil War history would have been very different if that had happened.

My dad would not let me see Kansas in 1979, which is pretty much a Christian rock band. So, AC/DC, Iron Maiden and Judas Priest were right out.

Having read exactly zero of the analysis behind the numbers estimated, I am yuuuuugely skeptical of the entire analysis, and can't imagine the methodology that would yield any numbers worth thinking about.

How does one measure the impact of distorted/false information on votes, at the level of the individual? How does one isolate one particular factor of distortion for people who marinate in it from all directions? Who [obviously] don't think for themselves, or think much, period?

It's like taking the only partially understood incredibly complex system of systems known as "climate" and concluding that one very small factor [CO2] is driving the train. For example.

And yeah, Forrest was in the Klan and was present at the Fort Pillow "Massacre," if that's what you want to call it. He was also a man of his times, and I don't remember him calling for blacks to be re-enslaved or massacred. So lay off.

I totally agree. And they come up with such exact numbers on the "votes flipped", too. It's mostly bullshit.

But, that said, I stand by my point that voting is about the most frivolous way one can fill a position. People don't appreciate the concept of a vote and generally treat it the same way they treat all free things - like shit. Voting seems to be moved hither and yon by things as minor as winds and a little rain.

And the push to let people register votes without even moving their asses just makes it all that much worse, in addition to introducing so much more corruption to the already brittle, frivolous process.

I'm sure Google's propaganda moves votes, but not because they have some super genius psychologists working the dopamine angles in the back rooms ... Those sorts of ideas make me laugh.

I picked up some videodiscs (CEDs) at the thrift store today, since I have a collection and a working player.

One was a sci-fi/horror movie from 1979 called The Visitor. Mel Ferrer, John Houston, Glenn Ford, Shelley Winters. Very odd movie, but in reading it, one small part was played by....Neil Boortz. Yes, that Neil Boortz. Apparently, he acted in two movies, one of which was this one.

This should be made into a very large issue. How is it possible for someone to enter our country and become a naturalized citizen then get elected to Congress under false pretenses? Would not every vote she cast become null and void? How about any legislation she introduced? How about the people who propped her up? Shouldn't they be punished for breaking our laws? And then what about the various news outlets that ignored reports of her scams? Shouldn't something be done to them to dissuade others from doing that in the future?

And what's to be done with her? Why is she free after all the laws she broke? This is a real constitutional crisis and something needs to be done, not just talked about.

What most of history does NOT want to recognize, is that the KKK didn't actually start to be against Blacks.

It started because White Veterans did not have the vote, and could not hold office, and so were really being taken advantage of in the early Post War South.

It changed... it morphed... but like a lot of history, people want it to be a simple tail of Good guys and Bad Guys, so that tail is not told.

I once picked up my 9 year old son from his swimming class - and after getting in the car he sat thoughtfully for awhile - then asked me "where did you find me?" And I said " what? I picked you at the locker room." and he said, "no, I mean when you and mom came to our house, where did you find me, was I already there?" And I said "no, we made you out of love, and now you are with us." And he said. " when you leave, will you unmake me?"

And I cried.

I figured a fast food place is a fast food place, but this was different, like the people there had functioning brain cells. I never crave chicken, but I had the car there and figured oh well lets try the food. It was really good. The staff was great, service was great, food was great, and a ton of wicked cars. It was definitely one of the better cruise nights I've seen. I was just reading about Rutgers tomatoes. They used to be the most popular variety of tomato. But, they were very fragile and the shelf life upon ripening was only a few days.

So, they began to breed commercial tomatoes for durability and longer shelf life. This is why store bought tomatoes and those you get at fast food joints and restaurants just don't taste as good.

Anyway, what are Rutgers now are not the original, but had gone through a lot of local breeding.

Rutgers was originally developed at Rutgers University in collaboration with Campbell's Soup in 1934.

In 2006, Rutgers U started a program to revive the original breed. Campbell's Soup still had some genetic material in cold storage and they succeeded.

Fenelon links to that site a lot, and it's really a nice break from the usual day-to-day insanity.

One time a commenter said something about how she was a progressive, and I couldn't help saying that "progressives" murdered 100 million people in the 20th century.

She was like, "Whoa, this is supposed to be a lighthearted non-political site." I backed off a bit and said, "Sorry about that, but you should really look up the history."

Hmm. I'm not even sure if Piscator is a word. It's a charachter in Isaak Walton's "The Compleat Anger", which is pretty much the first fishing book.

That's why she skates. She's got the support of the media, the schools, her whole party and all its fiefdoms, deep state, most PoCs, the millions of goodwhites who love to virtue signal that way, and all the people who just plain hate Trump.

Plus her "cultural vs legal" marriage gambit is unfalsifiable. Look at how Muslims game the word "jihad." Any time a non-Muslim tries to talk about jihad, the Muslims say we don't understand what it really means. Same thing with their concept of marriage. It means whatever they say it means.

Don't get your hopes up. Nobody can touch her. As of this morning, we can't even say "Send Her Back!" anymore.

So watch what you say.

435 Well, my old Ryobi string trimmer cacked out today. I started it up, and trimmed a fair bit; wore the strings down to nubs. Shut down, loaded new strings, started it up again, trimmed a little out by the roadside, and it quit dead. Tried cranking it up, and it cranked for long time without starting. Then, zinggg! The starter spun, but did not crank the engine. Tried a new battery, no better.

Put it in the vise, and took the starter off. The starter clutch had failed in numerous ways: spring broke, center pivot broke, and the cup on the crankshaft broke. So I tried cranking it with my cordless drill on the crankshaft nut, using a half-inch socket. Cranked it OK, but no fire. Pulled the spark plug out, no spark, despite being cranked at decent RPM. Tried another spark plug, no joy.

I am thinking the flywheel came loose, and upon its last actual restart, it backfired, ran backwards, and took out the starter drive. Now, with the flywheel key sheared, it has no spark.

I think it's time to look for new one. Too many things have gone wrong. It's like the old one-hoss shay.

Well, I am pretty sure I could fix the no-spark issue, if it's a sheared flywheel key. Thing is, that's on the drive end of the engine, and it's a bit of a PITA to take apart. BTDT, took the recoil starter out of it, after it ate up the recoil mechanism several years ago.

I was just looking. Kobalt is Lowe's house brand. They sell Craftsman, DeWalt, Milwaukee, and some others along with their own Kobalt.

Dewalt is owned by B&D as well.

My God. B&D is now Stanley Black & Decker. They merged in 2010 and own just about everything.

DeWalt, Porter-Cable, Craftsman, and the actual Black & Decker brand name.

Any tools under the those names are B&D, plus some other names.

As a life-long East-coaster, who shrugged and said he'd let the trannies use the bathroom of their choice, it's got to be frustrating him that he's getting pegged with so much rhetoric about how "hateful" he is.

I see his speeches, and I think he still thinks that deportation is a MOR thing and something he should have no problem getting a consensus on. But the Dems have realized their 1000-year Demographic reich is not coming as easily as they once projected, and they have to ramp up the rhetoric and flood the zone before the 2020 census, where they stand to pick up more electoral votes in their sanctuary pits.

The incontinence of the frustrated lefties just keeps ramping up.

I gave up on the feeding trimmer heads a few years back. The one I use
no takes very thick line. Cut it to about 2 1/2' lengths and make a "U"
shape, then thread it into the trimmer head. It lasts for about 6 weeks,
then you just grab the base of the U with pliers, pull it out, and feed
another length in. Takes about 90 seconds, and it's SOOOO much easier.

Posted by: Weirddave at July 19, 2019 12:22 AM (CTvSA)

The trimmer head I have just has two camlocks that you feed two 7" pieces of line into. They break, you stop, put new ones in and go. Autofeeder would be nice, until it breaks.

491 "No. But obviously racist or the borderline stuff that brings out the stormfronters"

I'm no stormfronter, but I do post obviously racist and misogynistic things, and I do feel that the warning applied to me.

We're all f'n racists and we're afraid to admit it. Ask a Flem what he thinks of a Walloon. Ask an aborigine about white settlers. The Hutus and Tutsis. The Japanese and the Koreans. Every ethnic and racial group has resentments for each other, and many of them are based on reality.

(My resentment against blacks is that they are shooting my city to pieces and nobody can stop them.)

The problem is that the well-intentioned egalitarianism of the Democrat Party morphed into this monstrous totalitarian militant anti-racism, now at the point where over 30% of Democrats polled believe it is de facto racist to ever criticize a PoC. Now we're at the point that we have to go thru re-education struggle sessions to keep a job. We have to praise diversity, even though we know it's a damned lie. And every day we see editorials cursing us for being white.

So I admit I'm a racist, and it's time for people to cast aside their fear of the slur. We all know they're going to call us Nazis anyway right? Even "moderate" Biden told a black audience that WE WANT TO RE-ENSLAVE THEM! They believe that. So stop hiding your racism!

Ummmm, about misogyny. I have manifold good reasons for that particular hatred, too many to catalog.

492 gp: Trump folded on the "Send Her Back" thing

Axeman: The forceful deportation of Omar or anybody was never part of what Trump said. Some zealots got ahead of Trump, and Trump said--truthfully--that was not his point

Other than having seen the brief snippet from the rally where they chant "send her back," alls I knows about this is from comments here.

What the Axeman said. Regardless of whether she deserves deportation, that isn't what Trump was advocating at all.

There's all the diff in the world between "go home (and then come back)" (suggestion) and "send her back" (employing force). And it's not like "lock her up," which everyone knows should happen to the Hillard.

Having given my final 2¢ minus tax, I'm gonna go find a nice soft pillow and see what dreams may hap.

500 I'm still not ready to forgive his post-war actions, but this is an interesting example that shows that people are more complex than we think.

-------

Similar to how I look at Ted Walker. A complicated character. He commanded troops on the Winter Line, at Anzio, in Operation Dragoon, and Chosin, and Choksong.

He later commanded troops in Little Rock, forcibly integrating the schools, over his own strong objections to the use of federal troops, offering his resignation afterward. This was denied by Eisenhower, who instead transferred him to Augsburg in command of the 24th ID.

Here, he was very political, indoctrinating his troops with anti-Communist ideas. After JFK was elected, Bobby and McNamara had him officially admonished. Walker refused the admonishment, forfeited his pension, and became the only American general in the 20th century to resign his commission.

Embittered by his experience in Little Rock, he organized protests against the integration of University of Mississippi, which erupted into riots (though not by his intention or involvement).

Bobby still hated him, and attempted to have him committed to an asylum after the riot, but was thwarted by the ACLU, who defended Walker.

He would shortly later run and lose a race for governor of TX against John Connally.

Like he later did with Connally, Lee Harvey Oswald attempted to assassinate Walker. Unlike he did with Connally, Oswald screwed it up and narrowly missed Walker.

Like I said, a complicated character.

They are making some hand tools in a plant in Texas under the Craftsman name.

The power tools are Asia. Funny how it's hard to find this information. I'm sure they pay their buddies at Google to keep such info hard to find.

There is some giant Chicom outfit called Techtronics Industries, based in Hong Kong, that makes power tools for a shit ton of brand names.

Four companies control 50% of the power tool market, and 18 control the total.

There are a shit-ton of brand names, but they're all owned by the same small bunch.

502 I've done business with the same auto mechanic now for about eighteen years.

He's a one man NASCAR pit stop, possessed of an uncanny ability to take a Chilton "six-hour" job, reduce it to one, and only charge for the single hour actually worked.

Since I've known him, he's gone from the full-on Snap-On and MAC tool universe, to the pre-death stages of '90s Craftsman Tools, and now only buys sockets, handles and similar hand tools from the O'Reiley Auto Parts Store.

And he tells me that they're as UN-breakable as the classic Snap-On, but at a fraction of the price.

His experience with Kobalt would fill a dictionary of cuss words though.

I take his word on these things. I've seen him break tools. You remember what "Brutus" looked like from the old Popeye cartoons?

That's what this guy looks like and is built like. He can break tools.

He has never broken an O'Reiley's Auto Parts tool out of one of their branded tool sets.

You know, the "259 pc. Standard and Metric Socket and Ratchet Kit" kind of set, and similar.

That, of course leaves out, all of the cheap crap tools they sell from under the front of their cashier/consultant counters.

I would most wish to own a full set of Proto hand-tools.

All of the open, box-end and combo wrenches.

Sockets, drives, the works.

Best screwdriver handles EVER.

Proto Tools were the perfect shape for the human hand, but unlike Snap On, weren't polished to the point of un-grip-ablity.

I have some good ones, Mac for the 7/17-3/8, and 9/16-1/2. And some other brand for larger ones and metric flare nuts.

Despite that, I had to make a special flare nut wrench a few weeks ago. Flare nut was in a well on the wheel cylinder, and regular flare nut wrench would not reach it. Dug into my box of el-cheapo quarter-drive sockets, found a 3/8", slotted it, and welded it into a slotted el-cheapo box end wrench. Worked great, and it now resides in wrench drawer.

Agreed. It's individuals making a choice. So it's a bunch of individuals I hate . My problem is when the majority of a group are bad. As Chris Rock says, I don't agree but I understand ( for someone painting with the broad brush. )

I don't know if NAPA tools are still as good as they used to be, though.

The last big ticket thing I bought from the local store was a gear puller. A big 'un. We had a set of pullers here and I stripped the big one trying to pull something.

NAPA had one. Again, very expensive, but it wasn't going to strip.

Highlight that in your article.

But I have no doubt that you know much about the relative worths and performance, between Snap On, Proto, SK, MAC and other brands over the years.

Some of those died as a brand, before the others.

And even today, the secrets behind the brand name hand tools, the forged, polished, chrome-vanadium plated, premium tools.... how many start as forgings from the same damn factories?

Here's a parallel "trade secret" for you, by description.

All of those "Investment Cast" golf clubs on the market?

Roughly 80% of them are rough-cast by Strum-Ruger and Company, then sent to the various "manufacturers" for finishing to a completed retail item.

And guess what?

Most of your 1911 pistol frames and slides are forged by Embrel of Brazil, which are then shipped to the USA, and finished out as Springfield Armory, Kimber and many other popular brand names that you know, love and swear by.

Industrial manufacture is damn near as incestuous as a Minnesota Democrat Congresswoman.

Trump hasn't done a mea culpa on the whole construction or hotel industry.

Advantage: Trump.

You have to realize that when people give simplified versions of calculations they've made, they probably have not made them as absolutely as it appears--it's probably on the balance that Trump has paid off on the gamble that we've made of him so far.

Yours is a good counterpoint--but so is mine to yours. Steyer is a man in retreat from the success he has made of himself. Not really stable ground.

Why shouldn't he be spending every penny as an indulgeance to lower everybody's carbon footprint? If he's any sense a lib in the rhetoric of libs (and no, I'm not that gullible) , why should his money bring him more power than anybody who didn't "win life's lottery".

How can he hold so much money in the face of "income inequality"? It's because he's hit upon the reasonable case that giving a man a fish is not as good as setting up a structure for men to fish with no definite end.

So he has to be both alarmist and reactive like his fellow libs, and reasoned and deliberate like more constructive colleagues. Meanwhile, he's doing it with all this money carbon pollution gave him. And he's keeping it so that *he* can direct his will for the "god of the people" as he sees it--far and apart from this immediacy we see in blew hysteiria.

And while he holds it, he not only gives himself undue portion of political power by his wealth, but he contributes to the collection of wealth in the hands of the few.

Steyer's a wreck. Trump helps out. He gives money to charity. He's never seen it as a sin that he has so much money, and adopts the more Republican model of economics.

For the most part, Trump hasn't been a crusader against the popular will with his own money--which is why his main move was to get himself duly elected as the chief executive of the USA. Yeah, he used a lot of his own money, but Hillary used *more* of other rich people's money, where again, we are told it's too constricted at the top end.

My point was that when looked at in a particular way, Steyer is his own failure, politically.

By the same measure, there is no such thing as a "good, cheap set" of deep wall sockets. Of ANY description.

The added torque as delivered by length, will instantly tear the walls out of any inferior socket, at the first application of force.

I don't mind a crudely finished, inexpensive tool as long as it delivers what is required. Example; Harbor Freight Anvil.

But I've yet to see CHEAP tools deliver in the critical fields.

This especially applies to screwdriver tips, of every type, size or description.

That is quite an intriguing picture. I like that "generic human evil" it puts a phrase to something that has been forming in my mind for a while.

I think this following thought might make me less popular, but I think that the simple faith that there is a human-made government structure that can keep man's pride eternally in check so that we would never see our darker side is a delusion of Man. The Constitutional faith is definitely a lesser heresy than faith in the Good of Man in a Commune.

Our Constitution was made for a "moral people" and as we have read it is fit for no other.

586 Hello roonz and roonettez, what's happening?

Yesterday was an expensive day at the Refuge. First off Mrs Hades bought a tub. Not just any off-the-rack Home Depot tub, oh no, but one of those walk-in tubs with the water jets and bubblers and seat heaters. I'm almost afraid to say what the price was but it was almost half of what I paid for my Mustang new.

At the same time we had the air conditioning guys in, the ductwork is smelling like a basement and when they looked at it the guy crawled ten feet inside the crawlspace and started laughing. Nine years ago when I had the system installed...well let's just say it was a quality system (4 ton Trane) and a less than stellar installation. The ductwork had to all come out and be completely redone.

Then during the tub installation when they went to hook up the electric (it needs two circuits, one for the heater and one for the bubbler and pump) we found the cut-rate electrical panel they put in this dump when it was built (manufactured home, meaning double wide trailer that didn't have the wheels permanently attached) didn't leave any...not one...open circuits on the panel. So, it's gonna be another 1.5K to have a bigger panel put in.

All told I could have bought another car for what we spent yesterday, not counting the electrical work that will be done Monday. I'm starting to think it would have been cheaper to burn this bitch down and put another one on the foundation.

Piers Morgan says Trump rally 'bordered on fascism'

-The Hill

https://tinyurl.com/yymhg8st

No, Piers.

Those aren't fascists. They are hard working people who love their country. So I give you a pass on not picking up on that. I mean, you live in London, England.

They are disgusted when an ungrateful immigrant constantly degrades their way of life and values of hard work and acceptance.

Fascists control and subjugate; Patriots accept an imperfect country and try to improve it. The chanting crowd were patriots; Omar is the classic fascist.

That is what a population that loves and respects their country looks like. I can understand how you may not recognize that from where you come from.

We know how special this country is, and how we are all responsible to keep it that way. Ilhan Omar has no idea what this means. Omar has no clue of what it means to be a Constitutionally-proud American.

And they are sick of her nastiness getting stuffed down their throats by the Corporate Press.

we have had that argument before and some have strong opinions on both sides. I think the pro self checkout group's main argument is that most checkers suck and they don't want to waste time chatting, etc.
I find self checkout to be demeaning. What is next? Will they have us stock the store too? It is not that difficult to find a decent store and pick out the good check out people. It is like most things in life, you have to look around and make some smart choices.

I guess these megalo marts are saving money on the deal or they wouldn't do it. But what I see is all kinds of screw ups and delays. They usually put the brightest person in to monitor the self check out because there are constant delays for id'ing booze, machines that are credit only, and other common errors. I would assume they have to pay these people more money for the headache.

They are always shocked when someone questions what all this is about. In this country, one guy brings the money and the other guy brings the stuff! To paraphrase Jack Nicholson in The Departed.

606 Good Morning Morons

Posted by: Vics/i at July 19, 2019 05:09 AM (mpXpK)

607 259 While JJ does an incredible job with the Morning Report, I have two problems with it:

1. He posts it when I'm getting ready for work, and I barely have time to read his post, let alone the links.

B. It's not constantly updated during the day, so it's not suitable as a "breaking news" site.

iii. By the time I get settled in at work and catch up on my e-mails, the Art Thread is up.
Posted by: rickl at July 18, 2019 11:05 PM (sdi6R)

I am in the Mountain Time Zone. By the time I get to work the art thread is already smelly. Still, I back track. It's good policy. JJ delivers the news that Ace will get to when he wakes up.

I kid, ace, do not to ban me.

The Pacific time zone sucks even more, especially when I work late, but what the later time zone really screws up is the Pac-12 football conference. Before TV money became bigger than season tickets, the famous tradition of the 12:30 game on Montlake was an all-day affair. It was a way of life. Because the number of consecutive years determined seating choice, many families had their tickets for easily 3 or 4 generations, and were passed down in wills.

Nationally the first game is played on the east coast before the first one starts on the west coast. It is not easy to figure out if you are running the Pac-12.

Now, you don't know until a week before if the game is Saturday at 12:30, 3:30, 4:30, 7:00 or 7:15. Or Friday night. TV decides to show the hot game.

Setting up a schedule is next to impossible for out of town season ticket holders. Yeah, the school makes more money, but at the expense of cheapening the experience for the biggest fans.

For some, they adapt, but they just go to the game and back, no tailgating. Less of the ritual restaurant stop before the game or after the game. Or pay last minute airfare and hotel.

Oh, and JJ's Morning Report is a must read, no matter how late I wake up. But by then, it's 3 or 4 threads down and I can't comment on anything.

Looked at Drudge a few times in the past week, after ignoring it for many months. I used to start there every day.

I thought, "what the hell happened to Drudge?"

I can't say for sure but I think that is the case. They are very discriminating about who they let start up a franchise. They don't open stores willy nilly to say the least. And it is pretty incredible the numbers these places do. Maybe it is not the case everywhere, but seeing cars lined up around the block at lunch is a normal thing. McDonalds is crushing it right now as a corporation, the record is there for all to see. But no single restaurant brings in the numbers like a Chick Fil A. They are number one by a large margin on per store earnings.

That is likely true ( don't quote me on this stuff) but it seems to be working. The franchisees make a ton but have to do what the corp says or else. You see other restaurants, even Mcdonalds that are upgraded and with the CEO's plan. But you see others where the guy doesn't have the cash and doesn't go all in with the new initiatives. I guess it is great to own everything outright but it also allows benign neglect. Look at Arthur Treacher's and so many other also rans.

Obama when he told his base to stop harassing a veteran Trump supporter at a Hillary rally. It is rare for sure. I give him credit for doing it but I bet he thought the election was in the bag.

These days when any lefty pol gets out of line, they hear from Twitter and apologize. It is not that they forgot they were lefty, it is just that they sometimes forget how far left their based has moved so quickly. It is often hard to keep up when all everyone does is race to the crazy left every day.

Chick-Fil-A is the Hate company according to the gay left, because the owner came out personally against some gay ballot measure in his area many years ago, I believe. He is very religious and conservative.

So he is a permanent target of the gay left, and the peach shakes are unique to CFA, hence a blending of terms. Except Morons and their ilk wear it like a badge of honor. Because they are really good, and only available a few months of the year.

I know when I have been in Chick Fil A's the customers are very diverse and in a good mood. Sorry leftists, people like to eat good food and enjoy themselves.

I allowed for that reality because Chick Fil A is nothing new in the South, there are lots of them but they are common. I would assume they have to pay these people more money for the headache.

It's better than it used to be, because customers are more familiar with them. The local Home Depot has 4 self-check outs and there's normally at least one vacant or just the people checking out. And they have just a bag or two of stuff. People with a cart full or with lumber/drywall/pipe/etc seem to want to have a person check them out, even though the self check machines have been upgraded to have scanning guns, just like the cash registers.

One of the regional grocery chains here uses them, too, and depending on time of day, that might be the only option. I scan items needing ID check first, as I can keep scanning while the SOS light flashes to summon a clerk.

I first used self-checkout at Walmart something like 5 years ago. It was faster because it seemed to be in the "to hard to do box" for most people and they were often idle.

What model of tablet is yours? I have an SM-T700 that is about 5 years old. Just now bought a book and it downloaded and I can open it. Here's the versions of stuff running here:

Android: 6.0.1
Kindle for Android: 8.20.0.10

I'm posting this because sometimes a problem with an app is the back end wants a newer version of the app and the newer version won't auto-update because the Android version is too old. And manufacturers controls the auto-update schedule of Android for the device. Hope this helps in some way.
