Judge Rebukes Mueller for Falsely Alleging Evidence of Russian Government Involvement In Hack; Muller's Own Prosecutor Admits No Evidence
Mueller Testimony to House Postponed

Gee, I wonder if these things are related. I wonder if Mueller needs time to, um, recalibrate his claims.

So Mueller's testimony has been delayed a week.

Former special counsel Robert Mueller’s highly-anticipated Capitol Hill testimony will be delayed one week under a tentative arrangement he reached with House Democrats, according to multiple sources briefed on the discussions.

Although it’s unclear why Mueller's testimony was delayed until July 24, lawmakers familiar with the matter said one reason was an ongoing negotiation about how much time they would have to question the former special counsel.

It is possible that's part of the reason -- Nadler is trying to limit who can ask Meuller questions, and grandstanding Democrats aren't happy that they won't get TV Time.

But I think it might also have to do with Mueller and Nadler gaming out Mueller's answers to Republican questions about why Mueller insinuated evidence of a Russian government connection to the DNC hack, but then, when rebuked by a judge for insinuating it without providing evidence of it, had to claim they never claimed it at all.

See below.

Now that a judge has rebuked Mueller for claiming this, one of Mueller's prosecutors comes before the judge and says that the Mueller team never claimed evidence of a Russian government connection:

The Federalist's Adam Mill has an article about this admission:

A newly released transcript reveals details of a humiliating hearing that took place the day before Mueller’s puzzling press conference. The judge asked the prosecutor, “Can you address also the specific tie to the Russian government, which is the overarching comment that the attorney general made tying both this case and then the case involving the hacking and the release of the e-mails, the GRU case, to the Russian government?”

Buckle up, buttercup, because you’re not going to believe DOJ’s response: “The report doesn’t say that.” What? I thought we “knew” that the Russian government committed an act of war by posting politically charged information on the internet. Now the DOJ is backing away from any tie between the internet troll farm and the Russian government?

The DOJ has now admitted that the Mueller report “itself does not state anywhere that the Russian government was behind the Internet Research Agency [and Concord] activity.” Whoa. The judge then asked, “So it is the government’s position that tying Concord and its co-defendants to the Russian government is not prejudicial?”

In the subsequent order, Judge Freidrich wrote: “On May 29, 2019, following the Court’s hearing, the Special Counsel held a press conference…[in which he] carefully distinguished between the efforts by ‘Russian intelligence officers who were part of the Russian military’ and the efforts of” Concord. This, the Judge found, made the criminal contempt proceedings she contemplated against Mueller’s team “unnecessary and excessive under the circumstances.”

A narrow escape it was indeed. Freidrich found that both the release of the Mueller report and Barr’s statements boosting the report violated DC Rule 57.7 prohibiting lawyers from trying cases in the press. Judge Freidrich rejected the government’s argument that the Mueller report did not smear Concord with unproven links to the Russian government.

Mate's taking a victory lap:

To be honest, I'm feeling that Robert Mueller is a tired old man who was really only the face of this operation. I get the sense that Weissman is the main operator.

Mate's report for Real Clear Investigations was highly recommended to me, but I never read it. I'll correct that this weekend. Here's the link.

It sometimes seems that Trump has an almost supernatural ability to cause his enemies to destroy themselves. Maybe. 41 This is why you'll never see any indictments that have the DNC "hack" as the central issue see the light of day in the courtroom.

DNC's agent, Crowdstrike, their "report," and the FBI's subsequent uncritical incorporation of it into the narrative and attempted coup can never see the light of day in a courtroom. This is why it is a good move by Stone to attempt to make it an issue in his case.

I can totally see that, but given Mueller took the job and then dragged it out for two years, and was OK with the over the top harassment of Flynn, etc. he is ultimately responsible. He could have fired Weissman (he dropped Strzok), he could have wrapped things up quickly, he could have opted not to write that report where he subverted US justice by saying he couldn't' prove Trump didn't do it.

He is accountable for it, all of it, regardless of whether or not their were rogue partisans placed on his team.

They KNEW they could get something on Trump. Note how often they tried and failed because it was obvious that it wasn't true or didn't matter so they came up with NO legal charge and only the hope that the midterms would make the difference.

What put the final touches on Mueller was the Nomination of Barr as the AG. Which Trump could only do after the midterms.

I won't be surprised to find that he was so anxious to become President Trump's Director of the FBI was to try and clean the mess he and Comey left behind.

To disagree (with all due respect) with Ace, he is not an "tired, old man". He is a defeated, old man. One who likely faces serious legal issues as does his peer group. Just wish Nadler would shut down his clown show.

I don't see that happening. Nadler and every Prog in the Swamp wants PDT out of the presidency ASAP. They're deadly serious about overthrowing our government (while keeping the facade in place) and instituting their own government. The election of Her Heinous was to be the crowning achievement in their quest for power, but Trump's election threw a wrench into the works. It took a while for them to reorganize after Trump won, but they've decided to proceed without her.

Think of Progs fitting Sgt. Reese's description of the original Terminator: They can't be bargained with, they can't be reasoned with, they don't feel pity or remorse or fear, and they absolutely will not stop, ever, until we are dead and they're in power.

They are satanic in nature as we've seen for decades. There is a very real spirit behind them. They're now forcing us normals into a position we're not quite prepared to counter. I fear what could come, but my fear will not stop it.

Wishing for Nadler to stop is folly at best. Waiting for the Progs to stop is not going to stop what they have planned for us. Pray for PDT and for the rest of us normals to win the fight that's being forced upon us against our will.

God help us, please.

181 I have noticed this for some time - deliberate obfuscation using the word "Russians". It can mean:

1) the Russian Government
2) People with ties to the Russian Government
3) Russian citizens in Russia
4) people with Russian backgrounds or ethnicity outside Russia.

The say "The Russians did this" which everyone takes to mean the Russian government, but what they mean is individual people who happen to be Russian. Then in the next sentence, Russian persons are referred to just by their names, not as "the Russians", which is to lead you to think that "Russians" means "Russian government.

It's all just word games with these assholes.

Did the Russian government hack the DNC computer? Doesn't this seem pretty fucking salient to the whole investigation? Show me where that was ever conclusively proven to have occurred. People say "the Russians did it" no proof. They won't even define the word "Russians". So Russian hackers or the government? "The Russians."

The whole thing stinks.

Posted by: pahound at July 12, 2019 02:32 PM (CAc8L)

189 How did journalists function before they had Twitter?
-----

They talked to people. Took notes. Crosschecked "facts" by talking to more people. Looked at evidence. Double checked timelines. Ran stuff past their editors. Rewrote for clarity. Asked for comment before publishing stories about people. Generally approached work with a sense of intellectual integrity.

Reporters used to be independent businessmen in the sense that they were the only name on the by-line and that's what they wanted. It gave them a shot at a Pulitzer. They checked out sources, were skeptable of agendas and getting played and were concerned about the risk of making a mistake in print and having to commit reputations suicide by "correction".

Today, not so much. Today reporters on Twitch(TM) act like they are all playing the phone game kids play in school, with someone whispering something to the person next to them, on down the line. At some point one of the players jumps out of line and races to hit "send" on the story, hoping not to get the facts right, just to get their name below the creaming headline.

Used to think journalism was an honorable profession (decades ago); now it's just a gossip side show to politics.

275 Daisy Cutter: "Used to think journalism was an honorable profession (decades ago); now it's just a gossip side show to politics."

The internal class system really destroyed that which ideology didn't. There's news reporters, news opinion, and newsreaders. The big money ended up going to the face of the news; the comfortable money went to opinion writers; and the poorhouse money went to the actual investigators aka reporters. The capital system was in inverted pyramid moneywise.

Terrible misallocation of resources as it turned out. The foundation of their product was the least rewarded and it showed. Reporting was junk, wrong, and poorly vetted. Opinion was biased and based on garbage. So the garbage went out via puppets and makeup.

Enough people now see through the facade and just how bankrupt the industry is.

RE: Sidebar item about Jonah "The Plagiarist" Goldberg pretending he hadn't heard of Hemingway's book.

This is nothing new for the fat, pompous assclown.

When Emerald Robinson called him out as an irrelevant NeverTrumper in a very good, incisive article for the American Spectator, he wrote a super-bitchy retort in NR that included this:

"Now, before I go on, as much as I enjoy reading the musings of someone I've never heard of at a cable-news network I've never watched explain - in the pages of The American Spectator - the declining relevance of people at Fox, Bloomberg, National Review, and The Weekly Standard, I should make a general point..."

Now, for one thing, that's uncut bullshit. Goldberg has certainly seen OAN before. And Robinson is their Washington correspondent, so I'm certain he's seen her too. After all she has a real job, on TV, not at an unnamed exciting new gmail newsletter venture.

She can even afford pants, though she usually opts for a fetching dress.

But I love the insinuation that he tries to make here - that you're nobody, if the mighty wad of fat named Jonah Goldberg "hasn't heard of you."

Man, I can't stand that douchebag.

The worst part is, that the only way any of this will ever be settled is by a tyrant (and Trump ain't that). Operating within the law and dealing with this are mutually exclusive propositions.

That is the question. Their immediate objective clearly was to blow a lot of smoke ("While we didn't find Trump guilty, we also didn't find him innocent") for the MSM to amplify into a "roadmap to impeachment." But didn't they think for a second there might be longer-term consequences?

It's kind of funny that they served the Dems SO well that the Dems want moar. But there is no moar, as the hearings will reveal; not only that, but there's not even anything to have moar of.

The Stella beer we used to drink in Egypt is rather... unique. The export version is kind of like a low-rent Heineken, if more uneven (QC is typical mohammedan). Drinkable, but forgettable.

The "domestic" however... sold in big 1.75 liter bottles that are reused over and over again. When the label starts to wear out, they just slap a new label over the top. It's not uncommon to have about 4-5 labels stacked on the bottle.

Also, there's something special in the recipe, rumored to be formaldehyde (not to mention that they draw their water from the Nile, a vile stretch of river). Drink anything more than half the bottle and you get one of the most distinctive and painfully nauseous hangovers known to man. Sanity-shattering.

Posted by: TheJamesMadison at July 12, 2019 03:17 PM (VyAV0)

468 I saw a slightly different reason for the postponing of the Testimony than was stated here, but it's still amusing and bad for the dems: Mueller refused to testify unless Nadler set strict conditions and limits. Members of the committee have realized, once they worked it out, that only half the committee members get to ask anything at all, and they each only get 5 minutes, which when combined with Mueller's answer probably means one question each.

*every* dem on that committee is chomping to have video of THEM asking the 'Brave Questions!" that they can use in their re-elect campaigns, and they're realizing this isn't going to give that to any of them - so they are all furious and complaining bitterly about how Nadler's stupidity has ruined everything.

So, Nadler has said "hold on, I'll fix it" - but he has no plans on how to do that, since Mueller certainly isn't going to give them any more time than he already agreed to. So Nadler has postponed things for a week in hope that a Miracle Happens - but in fact he has no idea what to do.
