Not a legit appointment under the rules - and if you read the reg and think there *was* good reason, then we're in la-la land where anything means anything and nothing means anything.
And the conduct and product of the exercise - jeebus. It's actually part/parcel of the mega-scandal but nobody wants to even talk about it. With barely any of the source material to work with, amateur analysts have torn holes in it and demo'd how distorted, dishonest, and tendentious it is. An examination with full access to the material would leave it in ruins.
But nobody cares. Lindsey can't be bothered. Even the WH changed from a full refutation to a 2-page letter from the counsel.
The corruption of DOJ and the FBI go beyond the marquee names we all know. Whether that will even be touched remains to be seen.

The victim is partially paralyzed and in a wheelchair. The illegal alien spotted her and her 3-year old son, getting their mail at some apartment mailboxes, so he followed the woman back to her apartment and raped her.

That is the dumbest argument ever anyway. The only possible argument against the rape death penalty is false accusations and the sometimes uncertain state of rape cases. It can be somewhat ambiguous and relying on trust of the witnesses rather than actual evidence.

Just my guess but outside the normal lengthy time this type of investigation normally takes I think the scope of what they are uncovering is enormous and in the very real sense of the word, scandalous. There has never been anything remotely close to this in terms of scope.
Just one part of this, FISA abuse, was going on for years. I'll be real disappointed if they just go after the stuff from the 2016 cycle and ignore the rest.
And I also believe they are working people over and getting some to flip on others. I think Page flipped and I'm pretty sure Bruce Ohr did too. That's why he's still at the FBI, they are working him.
And then there are the diplomatic niceties. As satisfying as it would be Trump is not just going to start accusing allies like the UK and Australia among others of spying on him and his campaign. But I have no doubt he's talking about these things with the respective countries behind the scenes.
No doubt in my mind that people are going to get indicted, though. As others have said, I don't think Barr came back to the DOJ to push papers and take abuse and that goes for Durham.

I think the announcement the other week of the Hezbollah terror plot that was uncovered in the UK in 2015 was part of this. Remember when Obama cancelled Project Casandra, a joint task force of the DEA, DOJ and others put together to go after Iran/Hezbollah drug smuggling and money laundering, to cover for his insane Iran deal? My bigger point is that while they can investigate, which usually involves just oversight of other investigations, they can't prosecute. The only body that can do that is the DOJ.
I understand why people get frustrated with Congress for holding endless hearings but that is all they do. This idea that they are going to lock people up in the jail in the basement of Congress is silly. It's being used as a storage closet and houses the caisson that carried Lincoln's casket. That's how long it has not been used.
Congress made a number of criminal referrals to both Holder and Lynch. Is there really anyone who is shocked that they declined to prosecute anyone in the Obama administration?

Honestly, I think a lot of it boils down to people on our side play by the rules almost to a fault. Leftists have never carried the burden of honesty and obeying the rules. Gowdy is a lawyer's lawyer and all he knows is playing 100% by the rules. He comes from a different time when everyone did.
And they have the media covering for them and pushing their narratives. People talk about Watergate but the real reason Nixon was forced out is when Republicans turned on him. This is why the left always won. Because they promised to do ...something...and this led to a cottage industry of "moderate" conservatives splitting the baby and giving the left half of what they asked for.
Of course Trump has sort of shown the way out here. Instead of doing nothing the right will do things that favor members of the right - small business, military/ex-military, taxpayers in general etc

I think Trump wants to be known as a historically great President. As a businessman he knows our debt is a huge trap door waiting to be sprung. I'm very confident that he plans on setting the country's accounts in order for his second term. I have no idea how he means to do that but it's impossible for me to think that's not a priority of his.
