Trump, Jr.: So Biden Says He'll Cure Cancer If You Elect Him President.
Why Didn't He Cure Cancer In His Past 50 Years of Holding Elective Office?

Maybe he was permitting cancer to continue killing people in order to hold it over our heads at precisely this moment.

While warming up the crowd at President Trump’s re-election rally in Orlando Tuesday, Donald Trump Jr. took a few swipes at the Democratic frontrunner.

"I hear brilliant guys like Joe Biden," he said to the fired-up crowd of some 20,000, "'Government has failed you.' Usually, as he's groping someone."

....

"There’s something off with that guy," Trump Jr. added. "Maybe yo'’re the problem, Joe Biden?" he suggested, referencing his decades in government -- a record which could cause the former vice president problems on key issues like the Hyde Amendment.

The president’s son also ridiculed Biden’s promise that he would "cure cancer" if he was elected president. "Why the hell didn't you do that over the last 50 years, Joe?"

Don Jr. also dubbed Joe Biden with a Low-Energy nickname -- "Floppy Joe." Which I don't think is meant to recall only his flip-flopping.

Earlier in the speech, Trump identified former President Obama taking credit for the good economy as the "stupidest statement in the history of politics and economics."

Trump continued by explaining Biden's "vested interest" in China, telling the crowd, "His son took $1.5 billion from the Chinese government as investment."

"The greatest investors in America have spent years trying to get Chinese money to invest with them. They can't do it. He goes there on a state trip and in ten days he comes back with $1.5 billion. Wonder why?" he said. "Now they're not a threat."

Trump then engaged the crowd with a little "role reversal" game.

"What do you think would be the media's reaction if Donald Trump Jr. took $1.50 from the Chinese? Not $1.5 billion like Joe Biden’s son. Just $1.50."

"They would lose their goddamn minds," he declared before hitting Biden for flip-flopping.

"But you know? Floppy Joe-- Floppy Joe, he's out there flip-flopping on everything. He doesn’t know what the hell he stands for anymore," Trump said, adding that the media will not call him out because "they want him to win."

Not to be outdone by Biden only deciding to do something about cancer after taking a wait-and-see-attitude about it for fifty years, Trump himself promised that the administration was close to curing cancer itself, as well as eradicating AIDS.

President Trump said during his 2020 reelection campaign kickoff speech late Tuesday that his administration is "getting closer” to curing cancer.

"We will push onward with new medical frontiers," Trump told a packed stadium of 20,000 in Orlando, Fla. "We will come up with the cures to many, many problems, to many, many diseases -- including cancer and others -- and we're getting closer all the time."

Trump also made a campaign promise of eradicating AIDS "once and for all," adding that "we’'e very close."

Oh, it's a promise? Was Joe Biden's statement a promise, or just puffery?

That said, there's a lot of promise that AIDS is a disease with a limited future and we might finally be getting cures to many cancers soon.

Alas, we've seen such hopes before. That's why I barely mention them any longer. I don't want to get hopes up.

But still, there are promising new drugs and techniques out there.

By the way, Joe Biden is a leftwing authoritarian. It's that "authoritarian" part that the leftwing media confuses with "being conservative," but it's just that Joe Biden never saw a problem he didn't think some government strongarming -- finding "pretexts" for government coercion -- couldn't fix.

But that's not "conservative" -- that's just lunchbox leftism.

I hate that idea, which many leftwing prosecutors also have, that laws are infinitely malleable and that we can just contrive whatever "pretext" we like to jail people who are doing things we don't like but are doing things which no law has been passed to outlaw.

If the law is undefined in this way -- if it's all up to a leftwing prosecutor's whim and readily mutable by the imaginative and unscrupulous -- then we are not a nation of laws not men, but men not laws.

One of the only things we have protecting us from the whims of politically motivated officials looking for professional advancement off jailing a citizen is the idea that laws mean what they say, and say what they mean.

Not that a clever operator like Andrew Weismann can twist plain meanings and make the law whatever he needs to collect his next political scalp.

The most immediate route to tyranny is granting a prosecutor the power to prosecute people not according to the letter of the law, but whatever he is capable of imagining the law to be in his own mercenary, careerist, status-seeking head.

The law is written in the statutory code, not sketched in penumbras and emanations of a corrupt politician's private dreamjournal.

And PS, they're almost all corrupt, and almost all prosecutors are politicians, or hope to be politicians officially one day.

I'm Trumps case its sloppy language and chain of thought expository speech-making which he's done a lot of and gotten caught on before. What he said, taken directly and literally, sounds like a promise to cure cancer and AIDS, just like Biden's stupidity. Taken as it was delivered it was "lots of great stuff is coming in my America" with lots of frosting on top.

I'm less glad at seeing so much money and time poured into it while Cancer was being largely bypassed. At one time at least AIDS research was getting like 20 times the money as cancer research, which was killing like 100 times as many people a year.

But cancer didn't interfere with many people's lifestyle and desire to have as much sex as possible with as many people as possible so they never have time to stop and thin about how empty and pointless their life is.

79 >>>56 Kinda hard to "cure cancer" when its a constellation of different types and causes.

well, yeah, but I think one method of killing a lot of cancers, if it could be perfected, is finding a way to microtarget (or nanotarget) cancer cells only with chemo, rather than than exposing the whole body to it.

Not only would that avoid the horrible side-effects of chemo -- which acts as a poison in healthy cells too -- but it would allow you deliver much more lethal doses to cancerous cells, so you'd have a much lower chance of leaving any behind.

I think that's a major thrust of research. Tagging them somehow, or creating something that only cancer cells can suck in.

The woman who cured HPV cancers used a method along those lines, though I forget the details. And you'd have to adapt that sort of thing to other cancers, which wouldn't be just like HPV cancers, but the Proof of Concept has been demonstrated.

well, yeah, but I think one method of killing a lot of cancers, if it could be perfected, is finding a way to microtarget (or nanotarget) cancer cells only with chemo, rather than than exposing the whole body to it.

Not only would that avoid the horrible side-effects of chemo -- which acts as a poison in healthy cells too -- but it would allow you deliver much more lethal doses to cancerous cells, so you'd have a much lower chance of leaving any behind.
Posted by: ace at June 19, 2019 05:19 PM (PbpT7)

They're doing that with radiation, too. A robotic device called CyberKnife uses data from an MRI to precisely fix the size, shape, and location of the tumor, then moves around and hits it from every angle while leaving healthy tissue alone.

My doctor stopped taking new patients last year. He's unhappy with the direction things are taking. "I can retire any time I want," he said, "but some of my patients have been with me for decades." So as patients move on, or die, he's going to cut back on his hours instead of replacing them. Already he doesn't see patients on Fridays.

Imagine if just ten or twenty percent of doctors did that? I once had a crappy health plan where it took five or six weeks to see your primary care doc. They probably saved a lot of money, too, since by then you're usually either better or dead.

I remember investing in biotech companies like Transgenix, which were researching monoclonal antibodies, and breeding/cloning mice (and goats, in Trangenix' case) to produce specific antibodies for gene therapy. Now, any time you see a drug with the last letters 'mab' - that's a 'monoclonal antibody' probably developed from that technique.

Government research into anything pretty much institutionalizes whatever the heck they are researching for all eternity - without ever hope of a solution.

Reason being, in business, R&D usually needs to become a product or service; in government the funding only needs to last until retirement of the recipients of research money.

If a researcher for business finds a cure for cancer, he can retire wealthy. If a researcher in government finds a cure for anything, he is out of a job and broke.

Asshole didn't know the victim; it was just a crime of opportunity. Saw a vulnerable, disabled woman who couldn't defend herself, and pounced.

Illegal asshole raped the woman (who uses a wheelchair), and took an Alford plea when caught (basically admitting guilt). He was sentenced to 12 months, of which he served 9 months (all but one day in pretrial detention). He was released on the condition that he return to Mexico, but instead of going home, the asshole illegal alien returned to his victim's home and beat her up (remember, this is a partially paralyzed 30ish woman in a wheelchair), choked her and gave her a concussion. And yes, there was a restraining order that he stay away from the victim, for all the good it did her.

This happened in "sanctuary city" Seattle. This is the kind of vermin that the leftists fuckwits are protecting, instead of protecting actual citizens, who are the illegals' victims.

228 The Al Capone case isn't a good example, because it WAS illegal to cheat on income taxes, and Al Capone WAS guilty of that crime. The Feds just hadn't enforced it that zealously before, but the law was clear.

What is so highly objectionable is when Prosecutors like Weissman (and he started off doing it in the Enron case) invent completely new and previously unaccepted "theories" of law to make previously legal behavior illegal - such as suddenly insisting that "Obstruction" can be a crime all by itself, even when it's not connected to any other crime. That is a perversion of what the Law was understood to be for the 200 years before Weissman and his cohorts came up with that "theory", and it should never have even been considered, much less allowed.

She had called the restaurant looking for them. The manager found them and Ron kindly offered to drop them off on his way home, like a well-raised young man would.

By the way, I have driven OJ's escape route from Bundy to Rockingham many times and he defiantly could do it in the limited time frame the prosecution established.

341 If you have indoor flea/tick problems (I have a dog in SE Georgia so yes for my house in the summertime) you can get Virbac Knockout from your vet which adds another layer of protection indoors..

Follow the instructions carefully though because you spray it on the indoor area like rug, dog bed etc.. and then keep people and your pets away from it until it drys and is safe.

The oral treatment for the dog, Knockout spray indoors, and outdoor flea/tick lawn treatment does the job.

394 It's always bothered me that, while of course some HIV is due to blood transfusions (not so much anymore) or possibly rape, or being born to an HIV+ mother, the vast vast vast majority of HIV and AIDS cases are completely avoidable by a change in behaviour (just as abortion would not be an issue if women were responsible about sex). We're basically spending billions and billions of dollars that could be spent on cancer, heart disease, MD, sickle cell, what have you, to cure a disease so that certain people can indulge in their fetish for bareback sex and having semen injected into their bowels without fear of infection. Sorry, that's just bullshit. Never was a disease more avoidable nor the victims (most of them) less worthy of sympathy or investment in their relief.
