Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | The Morning Rant"One of you 'ettes commented last time that the HR department at the company you work for has begun listing preferred pronouns in the signature line of their emails. Our tendency as conservatives is to roll our eyes and ignore such silliness, but I think we're missing an opportunity here for a little Alinsky-style guerilla theater. We need to work this rule to the max. Some of you suggested other possible prounouns we could use, such as 'Your Royal Highness' and 'Ming the Merciless.' 'El Jefe Maximo' is also good, as is 'The Ayatollah of Rock-n-Rolla.' The more outlandish, the better. Jam it up their snouts. I have heard of conservatives on Twitter making use of these personal pronouns and actually getting progressive ratfinks that they were arguing with suspended or even banned for not using them. Hey, it's *their* rule. They insisted on it. Let them choke on it. Or another thing we can do, which is going to take us out of our comfort zone, is to find some lesbian bar and have a bunch of conservative guys show up in dresses and lipstick and hang out for a few hours, buying drinks, farting loudly, laughing in deep, masculine voices, and throwing beer nuts at the other customers. I think something like that will really frost their flannel. But there's not much they can do about it. If they tried to throw us out, we could screech like the devil's own klaxon about discrimination. The point is, the best way to deal with progressive bullsh*t is not to engage them on any kind of intellectual level, which we all know is a complete waste of time, but with ridicule, contempt, and ceaseless mockery."

Indianapolis Republican Mayoral candidate Jim Merritt used the soon-to-be-shuttered Walmart location Thursday as a backdrop to announce moves he'd make if elected to solve the lack of fresh food options in some Indianapolis' neighborhoods. "Food apartheid is a relentless social construct that devalues human beings and assumes that people are unworthy of having access to nutritious food," Merritt said in the press conference, located in an entrance road near the store located at 8010 E 38th St, off Walmart property at the store's request. "Food apartheid affects people of all races, although black and brown people are affected disproportionately." The phrase food apartheid is being increasingly used in place of food desert as a way to emphasize the underlying racism in determining where grocery stores are opened and sustained. https://outline.com/eUB3JZ Posted by: Bertram Cabot, Jr. at June 21, 2019 11:14 AM (aKsyK) Posted by: Lizzy at June 21, 2019 11:14 AM (bDqIh) 17

It's almost like everyone in the MSM had all of their attacks on Trump written up ahead of time, just waiting to see which way he went before picking which pre-written attacks they needed to run.
In response to some of military people who it was said upthread wanted to go ahead with the strike - What Trump knows, that the military doesn't really grasp, is that this is a Political contest, not really a military one. Both political in the contest of wills between Iran and the US, and political in the sense of the Presidential campaign now starting. What do you think John Kerry has been telling the Iranians, seriously? He's telling them how to inflict max political damage on the President, in order to help the Dems replace him with someone more amenable to them, like Biden. And that's why the Iranians have rolled out this very limited series of provocations, designed to get a whole lot of attention but carefully calibrated not to cause any bloodshed - because actual bloodshed is always the Big Red Line of escalation. The first side to shed blood in a contest politically justifies almost any level of bloodshed in return, and that's what Iran has been trying to goad Trump into doing. I'm sure Kerry told them that of course he would take the bait. And that's also why Trump was correct to call off an attack which would cause 150 deaths, maybe not militarily, but it was absolutely the right thing to do politically. And now, by going public about it, he puts the burden on the Iranians to make the next move - do they up the ante, or do they accept that their plan didn't work, and back down? "apartheid," really??? How about these communities where a grocery store was closed consider why it closed. There are some communities where the toll of shoplifting and/or hold-ups are too high, such as in lost revenue and inability to retain staff. Then there are the chains that look to expand to an underserved area and community leaders issue a list of demands re: wages, racial hiring quotas, etc.. Why would you open a store in a community that wants to micro-manage how you do business, particularly when their demands jeopardize making a profit???? Robert Altman's Popeye, a film which should've been better than it was.
Dustin Hoffman was originally slated to play the sailorman, but when he demanded of Altman that he fire screenwriter Jules Feiffer, Altman told the wee thespian to screw. A good chapter on Popeye is in the book Fiasco: A History of Hollywood's Iconic Flops by James Robert Parish. The book also takes apart classic clunkers such as Cleopatra, Waterworld, Showgirls and Battlefield Earth. Posted by: Mary Poppins' Practically Perfect Piercing at June 21, 2019 11:19 AM (Ki5SV) 49

I've warned about woke HR depts. They are the most dangerous enforcers of PC dogma, since they have the power to destroy careers and blacklist wrong-thinkers. Every HR person I've met has been a lying a-hole, and a PC true believer. It's irony squared that the very people who fervently believe "nobody is better than anybody else" are the same people who demand that every job applicant explain why he is _better_ than every other possible applicant.

I honestly believe humanity's only hope is a cataclysmic event, thinning of the herd, and reset back to where every day was a battle to survive. The welfare state will never be voluntarily rescinded. To paraphrase Ayn Rand: "If you want to live and survive, you must eat. If you want to eat, you must work. If you want to work, you must think. If you want to think, you must use reason and look at reality." It's astonishing how, in a mere century, this wisdom has all been turned on its head ... But as Steve Martin used to say, "NOOOOOOOooooooo!" He had to keep saying he was "innocent", he had to say all of the Chicago Police were corrupt, he had to personally use his contacts to get the corrupt Chicago DA to use her power to swing the whole case for him, just to sooth his pride. and THAT pissed off so many people in Chicago, especially in the Chicago PD, that they were just not going to take it. Trump clearly is using tactical patience with Iran, correctly judging that they are without effective options as sanctions and negative trends in all of their stupid regional adventures continue to pile enormous pressure on the regime.
They are on the defensive on all fronts, without hope of progress or good options. Retaliating or not for incidents such as the drone shoot-down won't actually affect the course of events. Restraint [or calculation portrayed as restraint] may pay some ephemeral PR dividends in some quarters but won't be material to the outcome. Posted by: rhomboid at June 21, 2019 11:57 AM (QDnY+) 308

"margins of an average grocery store are, they'll most likely say 25-30% or higher. The margin is 1-2% tops."
a quick search says 1-2% on normal grocery items, but most stores try to sell other items with a higher profit margin, like organic or the impulse items by the checkout, or the National Enquirer types mags. And profit margin as far as I know means after all other expenses, and would include losses on produce that doesn't get sold in time. Posted by: illiniwek at June 21, 2019 11:57 AM (Cus5s) 310

Posted by: Sooner It's almost like everyone in the MSM had all of their attacks on Trump written up ahead of time, just waiting to see which way he went before picking which pre-written attacks they needed to run. 20 "What do you think John Kerry has been telling the Iranians, seriously? He's telling them how to inflict max political damage on the President, in order to help the Dems replace him with someone more amenable to them, like Biden."
Yep, and Kerry should have his passport and security clearance (if God forbid any) pulled, and put under house arrest for national security reasons. NSA wiretapped, obviously, if not already. Time to help the public understand the connections between Dems running around the world talking shit and the deaths of US military men and women they are risking. Yeah, he deserves to swing, but that ain't gonna happen. House arrest would make the point, and maybe start the long process of shocking Americans into growing up and smelling the treachery around them! Do it, Donald! He was seated at a table with his entire Cabinet, and the issue was being vigorously debated. Lincoln said "enough, we must vote on this proposal. All opposed, say nay." Every one of the cabinet officers present raised their hands and said "NAY!" loudly. Lincoln then said "all in favor?" and by himself Lincoln lifted his had and calmly said "Aye." Lincoln then simply said "The Aye's have it." and closed the discussion. Posted by: Tom Servo at June 21, 2019 12:09 PM (Kpl3J) 378

Seriously, they used the phrase, "intergalactic cheerleader."
