Her theory -- and see if you can follow this arcane argument -- is that Title IX, being enacted to promote girls sports to an equal (or, let's face it, superior) level to boys' sports, is being violated when schools start filling their "girls" sports rosters with boys.

Selina was recently sidelined by not one but two men who beat her: After finishing behind a group that included a couple dudes in the 55-meter dash, she was unable to compete in the New England regionals.She said she was being retaliated against by school officials for complaining:
"I've gotten nothing but support from my teammates and from other athletes, but I have experienced some retaliation from school officials and coaches. … I've gotten some very difficult requests for me to complete in practice, and if I don't fulfill these requests, then I can’t compete at all. And this never happened before. It only started after my parents met with the school principal."

The OCR under Obama deliberately rewrote what "sex" meant. The Title IX authors didn't think to include that term in the definitions, so they obfuscated it with a rule.
I would challenge that in court, and take it as far as it needed to go. The legislative intent was clearly biological male and female.

Caster Semenya is a unique case -- an extremely rare true hermaphrodite competing in international sports. He/she was born with "improperly developed" genitalia, such that even the doctors that examined him/her couldn't conclusively decide if she/he was male or female.
Most like he's essentially a male, but had some hormonal problems in utero, and the male characteristics never fully developed. Happens every now and then with babies, but this is the first time one of them actually tried to become a pro athlete.

Two daughters here. One was offered a scholarship in softball but took a ROTC one instead...(essentially a full ride). But she'd of not had the offer for softball without Title IX.
Pre Title IX was essentially unequal application of state supported funds in giving scholarships to only men. It needed to be equalized.

They do actually. My boys catholic school had to forfeit those matches since we didn't allow them to wrestle girls. The guys lost regularly, not because the girls were better but because the boys couldn't bring themselves to hurt girls. The whole thing was stupid.

Destroying children's athletics, particularly team sports, was a goal for a reason.
You can have all the good coaching, equipment and fields in the world... at the end of the day what wins championships is kids working together toward a common goal and achieving it, and the pride they get from that.
Anything which isn't conducive to the total atomization of society and the isolation of the individual as a fearful, lonely cog in it's machine has to go.

When I played youth sports, our Town League head scorekeeper was a young woman with a name that was clearly a boy's name. I'll call her "Harvey." "Harvey" was certainly tomboyish but there was more to it than that. She'd just walk into the locker room all the time and nobody seemed to give a shit. I had little idea what a lesbian was at that age, but I figured Harvey must be a one, and used a male name. Then I learned, years later, it was her given name.
Turns out, Harvey is a hermaphrodite of some sort. Her parents apparently intended to raise her as a boy, hence the name. But she preferred to live as a girl when she was younger. Harvey's still around the old 'hood but now lives as a male, complete with really straggly facial hair that looks to be a result of hormones.

I went to Duke. Title 9 ensured that as much money was spent on women's sports as Duke Basketball, etc. So the rest of the men's sports other than the most acclaimed didn't get squat and random semi-talented chicks got free rides and pulled in zero attention or value.
Same principle as women's soccer getting as expensive a venue as men's soccer. The market favors men's sports, mostly because no one really cares about women's sports as any 8th grade boy could beat them.

In grad school I had the same problem. Going easy on her pissed her off, since she viewed it as patronizing, but if I tried we had 21-2 scores.
Then I hit on the idea of playing my girlfriend right-handed (I'm left-handed). That was a lot more even. I still won, but now the scores were 21-15 or so.

A state school supported by tax dollars. Scholarships should be available to everyone who qualifies.
There was a "compromise" when it was decided that equality meant the same number of teams, vice total number of scholarships. There are no 90 person teams for women, and the golf team counted the same as the football team.
From what I can tell, most the welfare cases go to women because it is simply easier for men to get out and work. But the men I've met on welfare, all other things being equal, were getting their fair share.

If you don't want to play, don't. If you have and didn't get anything out of it, fine. But many know the value of sports. It's not just athleticism.

So here's the thing: my daughter DOES play a sport where women are - okay, not par in performance, but par in attention - with the dudes. Not a stick-and-ball sport, where the money is, but at a level that gets collegiate attention.
And the minute she starts getting pushed off the team by chixwifdix, it's gonna hurt.
It will hurt the team, because 2/3 of the parents of XX-chromosome participants will walk. It will hurt her personally, because what's left of the scholarship money after no one wants to watch a bunch of mentally ill or scamming dudes will go to the 'girls' in the speedos.

Granted, I know nothing about government schools. Didn't go to them, wouldn't let my kids near one. However, all my kids played city rec leagues from age 3 on and were stars in high school, albeit private school so the population wasn't as diverse. Kids forced to play anything would just suck and be a problem. Sports keeps them off the street, in shape, and teaches more life lessons than many hours in the classroom. I'd hate to see the local high school football and basketball teams loose for the hours their team practices and AAU teams take up. It's a great service to the community to give these kids an outlet, especially the testosterone laden boys.

But you have to understand that lack of support and interest necessarily translates into lack of financial support as well. The interest and value of playing sports for people oughtn't then translate into government compulsion to equally distribute scholarship funds.
Particularly as there's no constitutional support IN ANY INTERPRETATION WHATSOEVER for this law.

This issue needs to be addressed and soon. The madness has gotten out of control.
As a suburban Mom of 2 girls and 2 boys, this might make my friends pull the lever for the Republicans. I know virtue signaling is all the rage but this is just fundamentally unfair and wrong. Moms (and dads) do not want their daughters competing against boys in athletic events and they do not want them in the locker room.
I think Trump should hammer this cultural issue and make the case that the Demonrats will not only continue down the road with this craziness, but aggressively promote and embrace it with their laws and wokeness.

Obviously there is a place in our society for a university system. But the primary reason people support colleges is through sports. Even the ones who don't go usually have a favorite team. People now get unnecessary college degrees to circumvent testing bans occasioned by Griggs v. Duke Power. Relatively few people actually need to go to college to pursue their future employment. That is sort of my point. What ties many of us back to our schools is the sports program. We watch our football teams even when we suck. We buy merchandise even when we didn't go to school there.
We (and I mean the general US population) love our colleges because college football and college basketball. The reason most of us go back to any campus is for a game.
Take that away, and you sever the biggest tie we have to our schools.

It's even worse than that. We have to maintain the parkway between the street and the sidewalk, although that is public property. In California there is a list of (IIRC) seven plants that you can plant on the parkway, and you can be fined for planting anything else, or God forbid, paving it over. They typically wanted to be part of the surrounding community/town/city. Oberlin certainly changed their outlook on the value of the local community.
This same university has a huge performing arts center with a variety of sizes in performance spaces, and they host a wide assortment of artists and performers. As with sports, this is enjoyed by the community, as it provides the opportunity for cheap and convenient entertainment options.

Almost all sports after football, and some (but not all) men's basketball, ALL sports are money-losers.
All of them.
Which is why Title IX was passed in the first place.
The gross $$$ have to be split evenly between sexes, and men had more programs than women. Hence, more men's programs were cut, and more women's were added. Actual competition is secondary.
There are many stories out there where the surplus is so large for women's college programs, entire teams of high school players get a full-ride scholarship, if the two stars will sign to a team.
I saw it happen myself about a decade ago with a women's soccer team. They had two great players, and the school they attended gave the team ten (maybe more) full ride scholarships to that high school team.
Title IX is corrupt.

Just allow for college loans to be discharged in bankruptcy, or force colleges to guarantee the student loans, at least in non-STEM majors. Or some combination. Market forces need to be brought back into the picture.
