- I told this story on the Easter ONT but I'll repeat it for the daywalkers. My sister died five months ago. We had her husband over for Easter dinner. He said he's generally doing OK but sometimes he's overwhelmed by grief. He said that the other day he was driving down the road, a song came on the radio and he had to pull over and cry. I asked what song. He said Elton John's Rocket Man. I must've had a WTF look on my face because he told me that she didn't even like Elton John, the song just has that lyric "I miss my wife." Posted by: Muldoon at April 23, 2019 10:28 AM (m45I2) The shadows are cast from the brightest source that illuminates the surface they are cast on. In the case of the table legs to the right, that's the reflection off the neurotically-clean and austere wall to the right. That's why they're skewed relative to the other shadows. You can confirm this by standing in that room at that time of day, on that day in 1899 and observing the shadows cast from objects in those places, which is left as an exercise to the reader. If you're polite, she might make you coffee. Posted by: hogmartin invites you to the Summer MIMoMe (link: nick) at April 23, 2019 10:34 AM (t+qrx) 201

Posted by: TheJamesMadison, Read Some Movie Thoughts I was fascinated by the scene where Spike organizes a lynch mob and sends it to the wrong address. Wait one; that actually happened. Posted by: Blue Hen at April 23, 2019 10:51 AM (e1q4h) =========== Spike was never that smart. I think he's gotten dumber over the years. I'm gonna repost this from last thread: "I don't feel like reviewing the movie as a whole because it's such a mess, but I wanted to write down my thoughts on how it left some of the more interesting elements on the table and did nothing with it. In the film, we not only see the Klan but also the Black Power movement as represented through a speaker and the main character's girlfriend. So, we have two organizations both dedicated to the supremacy of their own races, but Lee, unsurprisingly, downplays the black side's supremacist inclinations while playing up the white ones. If Lee were smart enough or not beholden to his own biases as much as he is, he could have seen the interesting parallel between two socialist organizations both dedicated to racial supremacy of their own race. The fact that the black speaker whispers conspiratorially into our main character's ear about buying weapons to begin a revolution that will start with the killing of cops gets no more than brushed off as mere rhetoric while David Duke's calls to promote white culture is treated with intonations of doom. The movie doesn't work on its own, but that failure to pursue something rather interesting grated on me." Posted by: TheJamesMadison, Read Some Movie Thoughts at April 23, 2019 10:52 AM (q8oeS) 295

Congrats on your new puppy. Never heard of mixing a Newfie with a poodle, but it should be a great blend. Posted by: Phil Hartmark F/K/A Truck Monkey at April 23, 2019 11:05 AM (flINI) Keep a watch our for a stubborn streak. My newfie was VERY stubborn from about 9mos. to about 2-3yrs. If he didn't want to walk any more, he'd just lay down. Not fun when you are 1+ miles from home and your dog weighs 100+lbs.Best of luck with your dog. May you two enjoy many many years together.
