If he did it, Trump can do it. The big difference is that Trump's way of doing it probably won't be changing anyone's vote distribution in a meaningful way. Our lane divisions disappear in darkness and rain. The only way you can tell where the lanes are supposed to be are the poorly paved depressions between the lanes where the lines go. Those can be easily confused with the poorly paved lanes, however.
As for silly signs, "Bridge Ices Before Road"? In Lousy-ana? Maybe in the far far north, around Shreveport, but we haven't seen a freeze down in Da Swamp in 3 or 4 years.

The outside bearing walls and the flying buttress works are all stone, but of course the roof is a timber structure. Big timber frames.
The vaulted ceiling work is all stone, and is self-supporting arch construction.
It'll take 50 years in today's world to fix this iconic church.
If the fire was set, and the culprits are of the Mohammedan side of things, this could get really weird.

Yeah, but Notre Dame is surrounded by some of the most expensive residential and commercial real estate in Paris, and even if you COULD water-bomb the thing without damaging the $3M flats down the block, it takes time to get even something the size of a DC-10 across the pond and staged.

Frankly I'm surprised they let England be the first country wanting out of the EU, unless they figured out a way to job Brussels into subsidizing them the way the krauts did when the franc was linked to the Deutschmark.

This fire does not bear on that issue. The exact same thing could happen here in any number of buildings, especially high-rises. Recall the MGM Grand fire in Las Vegas; we didn't cover ourselves in glory on that one either.

There's a fundamental difference, though. The building was designed to balance forces. Now that parts of the building have been destroyed, the forces are probably not well-balanced any more, and hence the building is much more prone to collapse.

I think it unlikely that the stone walls relied upon the thrust from the wood roof to be stable. The stone would have had to be erected first and stable on its own before the wood work was done.
Could get knocked about as things collapse.

Thankyou, and to Deplorable Jay G. too. I will be okay. It was a job I wanted out anyways, a "barely work" from home job on a Govt contract. I will never take a remote position again; as a super introvert it feeds my worst habits. I don't enjoy job hunting, but will be glad to be back in an office environment again.

Still... ! I think for future fire disasters a rapid response plan could be developed. I'm pretty sure we have the technology to immediately detect sudden, large amounts of smoke from high powered cameras mounted on an aerostat. Now you just need to figure a method to get drops of water or fire retardant to the locations ASAP.
