145 ting.com is a decent provider; I've used them for a few years. They sell phones but they're mostly bring-your-own-device and they run on anybody's CDMA or GSM network (whatever your phone uses). Most plans, you place your marker on the minutes or data you'll use ahead of time and bet that you won't bust; if you do, you're on the hook for the difference. Ting, if you use 400 minutes, you pay for the 101-500 tier for that month ($9), if you use 20 the next month, you only pay the 1-100 tier ($3). It's assessed based on usage, you don't set a marker and then wager that you'll be under it. Pretty good service too, email and phone both.

Wonder if I can use my tracphone minutes card to get it working. Unlocked to me means that it is not automatically registered with a provider, but the dual SIM card feature sounds promising? Perhaps a worthy experiment in mobile telephony.

As related aside, I found that there is a "wireless over internet" feature on many phones which can be enabled in settings. Before I enabled this, I literally had to stand on a chalk mark to get even erratic Verizon phone service. Down side, I had to get internet access but that was useful in itself.

My Dell laptop at work did that for weeks until our IT guys installed a new wifi driver. I could be online, shut the lid and sleep it, and then open it again in the same place and it would claim it couldn't see any wireless networks. The new driver fixed it. 187 Every notice how leftys trot out the word "moral" when it suits their needs?

These people are completely incapable of rational thought, but they do communicate by using trigger words to activate certain emotions and associate those emotions with sounds (what we would call "words").

They also project everything. So since they can't think, neither can you. They respond emotionally, so that is you, when they make the sound "moral" it is supposed to trigger you and associate whatever wickedness at hand is supposed to be accepted as saluted as a virtuous dead because they simply attached the sound "moral" to their bleating.

Well, I can only assume that she is referring to the Mayflower Compact, which augered in pretty quickly, because Socialist, and a consequent failure.

OTOH, maybe she refers to 1776 (there being no 'United States' prior to that), in which case I have no idea what she means.

I would suggest Linux Mint as a distribution for someone who has never used linux before. But there are many distributions, all slightly different. These days, most distros work pretty reliably on any hardware, except maybe for very new computers just out within the last year.

But if you're concerned, you can create a live usb or dvd, 'live' meaning you can boot and run from the usb stick to see if everything works. And install later. Which is probably a good idea if you don't want to trash your current setup.

Willowed, but the first question to AOC should have been this (if we had a real press):

Ms AOC, The 22nd amendment states, "But this Article shall not apply to any person holding the office of President when this Article was proposed by Congress".

How exactly would this have prevented FDR from being re-elected, even if he had somehow become immortal?

FDR died April 1945. On March 24, 1947, the constitutional amendment imposing term
limitations on future Presidents was submitted to the states for
ratification. The ratification process for the 22nd Amendment was completed on
February 27, 1951.

If you've got the ISO file on your hard drive, just skip to "create the bootable media". 99% chance the download was fine. You'll need a USB stick big enough (which I can't recall offhand how big). They recommend using this "etcher" program.

Or if you have a blank DVD and a dvd writer, then you can just right click on the ISO file and make a dvd from OSX directly.

Then reboot using that DVD or USB stick. Which, I think you just hold down the 'option' key after powering off/on to choose what media to boot from.

There should be step by step instructions after than.

Oops. You'll have to create a bootable DVD or use another computer to create the USB stick. Or search out another way to create a bootable USB stick. If it's bootable, it should probably work regardless of where it was created. I'm not up on these things lately though.
Anyway, I've got to go for the day. You'll get it eventually with a little persistence. If it's an older computer you might want to go with the lighter version with xfce.
